Brought my baby bro to go see avengers this weekend. 3 and up has to pay For a ticket, but my bro is gonna be four.. Haha told him to pretend he was sleeping and we went right in.. Hahaha AMC is the best!
The movie quality was awesome and it was nice and loud and clean. My brother had an awesome time.
Food is overpriced but that's why you sneak in your own stuff!
Great understanding staff! -

AMC seems to have a new promotion where you get a hefty discount for watching movies before noon. Since I happened to go before noon, I got a sweet deal on my ticket. It only costed $6. However, I think the regular price of a ticket is $12 for a regular type movie. Costco sells discount tickets to AMC theaters, so if you come here often enough, it may be worth it to purchase these instead of paying full price for a movie after 12pm. Also, since this AMC is located at the Santa Anita Mall, if you have not purchased your tickets in advance, there are kiosks adjacent to the theater but also in the food court on the first floor.
When I went to get a drink at the concessions stand, I noticed that the prices were so high. Why does going to the movies have to be so expensive?
Anyhow, I was sitting in one of their smaller theaters. However, since it was opening weekend for the movie that I was watching, it was pretty full. I enjoyed the stadium seating, but the sound was okay. Despite the fact that they warn the customers to be quiet, the people next to me kept chatting away. It probably had to do with the fact that the demographic that comes here seem to be primarily teenagers.
I would avoid this movie theater during the weekends. Parking is normally difficult to find, especially with the parking structure that is next to the movie theater. -

Since the remodel 10 years ago, the AMC Santa Anita 16 has been a good choice in Northeastern SGV for stadium seating and free parking. The huge IMAX screen is coolest for "big" movies. All the theaters have digital projection, too.
* Screens & Sound: 4/5 Nothing too remarkable, but totally fine for seeing a movie
* Seating: 4/5 Stadium seating is a must these days and you'll find them here
* Prices: 3/5 $12 per ticket
* Parking: 4/5 Free parking is great. Crowded masses at the mall aren't so much.
* Concessions: 3/5 Basic AMC overpriced popcorn, soda, candy, etc. Bring your own.
* Cleanliness: 3/5 When it is busy the halls and bathrooms take a hit. Go when slow
* Atmosphere: 2/5 It kind of gets to be a zoo when kids are out of school.
Overall: 3/5 Not a "destination theatre" ... a solid local/weekly movie-going experience.Listed in: It's Showtime! Movie Theaters…

Review from Schel H.
Well I came here to watch a movie at the theater for the first time in 8 or 9 mos. and it was to see The Avengers... Definitely some fun stuff...
So I get to the foyer and hop into line get my ticket and take a look around. The first thing that grabs my attention isnt even something for the theater. Its the fact that Dave and Busters has a late night happy hour with 1/2 priced or $1 drafts after 9:30pm (I cant recall which for sure sorry). So I am here with John L and he got his ticket at the same time (gotta like multiple windows open on a weeknight). We cruise inside and while the typical movie swag is up, it isnt nearly as bad as it seems like it normally would be.
Pro Tip: Park on the roof off of level 2 in the parking structure. It has a direct entrance to the theater and dave n busters...
No lines at the concessions... walked in wright as our theater was finished cleaning and grabbed seats... The seats didnt lean back but had raising arms. However the floors were sticky as most theaters are I think. No idea how good the seats looked as there is always limited lighting in these places.
Overall a kewl place to watch a flick. I will likely be back...Listed in: Munchkin Zone, Big Boxes, Beyond Rosemead Blvd

I just saw The Avengers at the AMC Santa Anita 16. This is a nice mall theater for the most part. Friendly staff, good food, comfortable stadium style seats and high quality screens. But I can only give this theater two stars because they have a serious issue: Their audio level is set far too low. In fact, this is the first non 5 star review I've posted on Yelp. I don't like writing negative reviews, but I feel compelled to speak out about this problem.
In a theater when something loud happens in a film, you're supposed to get a healthy blast of sound, but not at this theater. Something changed about a year ago. A while back the sound was fine. But when we've gone to films more recently there, the audio has been laughably low - so low that the squeaking of people's chairs and the munching of popcorn happened to be lough enough to be a major distraction from the audio of the film. I thought the audio level on the Avengers was a little better, but my brother thinks it's still far too low or unchanged. I'm going to try to speak to management about this problem. It really detracted from The Avengers, which I highly recommend for a great time if you're into the Marvel film franchise.
Update: I just spoke to an employee (Nelson) who apologized for the audio issue. He said that they haven't really heard my complaint recently but it has been said about some of the theaters in the past; he certainly apologized and stated he would be taking it up with the general manager and taking appropriate corporate action. He also told me that if the audio is too low in the future to tell an usher and that they'll boost it. For the record, my brother and I are young guys with acute hearing - we're certainly not going deaf. The audio levels are just too low. -

Nice Clean theater. This is one of the three main theaters I rotate going to depending on show times and what's showing. If i remember correctly, they even let you bring drinks in that you bought from the mall.

My family and I normally frequent this theater when summer movies arrives. Today was suppose to kick it off. My 6-yr old daughter and I got our superhero t-shirts to watch The Avengers. She was so hyped up about watching the movie until showtime. Well, showtime did not arrive on time and we did not get to watch the previews since their was only volume and no picture until the last preview showing. The movie was great but that sucked that we had to wait late for showtime. On top of that usher was making people move seats so that other late customers could sit where we sitting. how rude. their was plenty of seats at the front of the theater. next time arrive early for big movie showing to get prime seats mr. & ms late customers. for our inconvenience, we should have been given a bag of popcorn or something.

I like AMCs everywhere I go, this one was no different. We went to the "do-it-yourself" ticket box and struggled to get our tickets (we were all confused by the drawing on the machine, our cards were upside down the whole time haha).
The four of us went to see American Reunion, a 27 year old (me), a 22 year old, a 21 year old, and a 19 year old. We were all carded. I'd be mad if I didn't understand why they did it. Oh well.
The theater was pretty clean and not crowded at all. We got to the movie about 20 minutes early and sat in silence. That's right, there was no preshow to the previews. No music playing in the background. Just a dark screen and these two guys screaming at each other to have a conversation (must have been how old they were).
The movie itself was about as cheap/expensive as everywhere else ($12). Since we'd just had dinner, we didn't get snacks (although I guarantee that they were incredibly overpriced).
Overall, I'll be back if I'm in the area. The only reason I wouldn't come back is because it's located inside the mall and parking could get rough (and it could get crowded). It wouldn't be my first choice, but it wouldn't be my last either. -

I love going in the mornings before 12am because its only $6 a ticket! Just watched Titanic 3D & The Cabin in the Woods, I bought the tickets about 10 minutes before the movie started and went to sit down inside and it was PACKED! We still found room for 2 people though.. not the best seat in the house but it was alright. I would recommend going inside the theater about 20 minutes before the movie show time, because it WILL get packed VERY quickly..
Overall - Its a nice movie theater with spacious seats and the theaters are well-maintained, ALWAYS clean and the bathrooms are always clean as well. -

I ABSOLUTELY love this movie theater! It is very convenient because it is in the mall. So, after the movie, I can go shop around. Finding parking can be hard sometimes since the parking lot is shared with the mall, but it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. The employees here are very nice and helpful! The bathrooms are extremely clean and there are a million stalls! The seats are very cushion-y and comfortable. On weekends, before noon, there are tickets for only $6!

Review from David C.
Prime location, but most people do watch movies on the weekends, so the issue of parking comes up. If you have not been to the Santa Anita Westfield, you'll know that locals will often steer clear of this place on weekends because it gets way too crowded with people from bordering cities. Prices are pretty standard, but multiple times now I've had to return my tickets because there were way too many people in the theater. Not sure if all theaters at this AMC have DLP as well, which was a disappointment.
PROTIP: If you're willing to drive a few extra minutes and not deal with crowds, try Krikorian in Monrovia. -

PREORDERING MEANS NOTHING THESE DAYS... IT'S A CONSPIRACY
Here's my story, I preorder Hunger game tickets weeks in advance with my friends. After days of anticipation, we go over to the ticket booth with our confirmation number to retrieve our tickets. The lady says its sold out even we ordered weeks in advance. We think ahead and this is what we get?? Pennypinching and corrupt management is what I say. At least they offered to schedule us for a different time. Simply disappointing... -

If you are not from the 626 and find yourself at the AMC Santa Anita, here are some things to consider:
ACCESSIBILITY.
There's a couple reasons why I keep crawling back to the Santa Anita AMC, and the biggest reason is because it is accessible. The theater isn't far away, and if I was traveling from afar, I would just hop off the Baldwin exit from the 210 and I would find myself pulling up to the mall and close to the theater. Also, if I decided that I was going to eat or go shopping, the theatre is upstairs, and I love that! I mean, what if I get drunk at Dave and Buster's and realize I don't want to go home yet? I can just walk a few yards and find myself at the Ticket Kiosk and fall asleep in a Jennifer Aniston movie. Yes! Crisis averted!
PARKING.
There's tons of parking, outside and in the garage, but just because there's a lot of spaces doesn't mean theres a place to park! No my friend, it sometimes takes longer to find a place to put your car than to actually get to the freekin Santa Anita Mall! Makes you want to run over toddlers in strollers.. okay maybe not but you do get super pissed!
PARKING LOT.
To be perfectly ignorant, people around here can't drive for beans. You may think you have the right of way, but the driver in front of you who is busy yelling at their cellphone and trying to fix their toddler's seatbelt are too busy to pay attention to the stop sign in front of them. Just a side note, beware when you are entering the mall and trying to find parking.
FOOD.
The food here is typical movie theater food: greasy popcorn, hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, candy, ice cream treats, expensive-ass sodas.
LINES.
Generally, never experience lines unless I'm trying to watch the premier of a Twighlight movie, which is never. If you are trying to see a newly released movie here, people show up an hour before and wait in a roped-off line, so if you don't come early, you are promising yourself an awkward seat in the first row. If you are in line, be prepared to sit on the floor with all of your closest friends playing Fruit Ninja on ur iPhone.
DEMOGRAPHICS.
If you are sixteen years old and you are coming here with friends or your BF or BFF, then there are plenty of peeps just like you. Seeing that I'm not in high school anymore, I tend to feel old and irritable in this theatre. If I ever come here on a Saturday evening, I feel like I'm in my high school auditorium. Brace-faced kids are chatting, teenagers are lip-locked, and teens are loud and laughing. Sometimes I want to set the theatre on fire, but they tend to shut up by the time the movie plays.
THEATRE CONDITION.
For the most part, the theatre is kept clean. I don't run into a lot of trash and the floors are carpeted, so I don't stick to the floors. I also have never sat on gum here, but I have seen weird stains on the seats. What is that? Is it soda? Spit? Do I want to know? I think I'm going to have to move...
RESTROOMS.
Restrooms are clean and inviting, I've never had a problem here.
STAFF.
Staff is helpful and friendly and they don't look like they hate their lives. -

k, I still hate the frigggin service here. There is only one person who I've seen regularly work there that actually has great service and I think its because he sees us all the time.
Outside of that, I can't stand the fact that no one ever asks if you need a box when you order items. I mean if I have drinks, nachos and popcorn, you think I wouldn't want a box? WTF ask me?! I want to shake them silly every time I have to ask when they've completed my order and say why wouldn't you ask me for a box?!
Sadly I reviewed this back in 2010, and not much has changed in my opinion. I'm still going to the first showing of the day as a result of
1. the food of course way fresher
2. the bathrooms are clean
3. closest by my house and
4. I can't say no to $6 movies.
I know I'm a hypocrite, but until another closer/cheaper option comes up I will still be here ;-(1 Previous Review: Show all »

Guess what? I've never watched a single movie here.
Now that I have your attention (or not), let me get down to business.
I came here tonight (first time) to watch Mission Impossible 4. Got our tickets at the little kiosks at the front. Some of them didn't work, but okay, it happens sometimes. Forgiven.
When I got to theater #9, it was packed. Packed packed packed packed. I could not find a single set of two seats, and so, for the first time ever in a theater, I went to get a refund for my tickets.
THE BOTTOM LINE: It pisses me off that AMC would oversell their showings (this isn't an airplane...people WILL go to see the movie they paid for). If anything, they should be UNDERSELLING their showings (a little bit) because people tend to leave 'gaps' in the seats between them (if there are enough seats, you usually leave an empty seat between you and the stranger next to you, right?). I wasted a good 30 minutes here at the very least and got nothing out of it. If AMC did not attempt to "sell out" their screenings, I would've happily watched my movie AND AMC would have made 20 more bucks. And, to conclude this effing misfortune, the guy at the service window said to us in the most emotionless tone, "Sorry about that". Way to be considerate towards your customers.
I'll probably be back one of these days, but in the meantime, this location better step up their customer service. And bathroom cleanliness. -

It's a pretty standard AMC stadium seating movie theatre. Concessions are ridiculous here! Six bucks for small popcorn. I guess that's just how it is these days.

Review from Angie W.
This is one of my usual movie stops. It's inside the Santa Anita Mall above the food court. The location is cool cuz if you park upstairs, its close to the theaters and D&B.
When you first get inside the theater, there's a big concession stand in the middle, then the individual theaters on split up on both sides.
All the theaters are stadium seating, so you don't have to look at the back of anyone's head the whole time. The seats are pretty plushy and the cup holders do swivel up out of the way. Great for cuddling during the scary movies.
One great thing about the ticketing machines are they are located in the food court also, so you don't have to run up to pick up your tickets, they can be printed downstairs.
Not sure if the IMAX is worth it tho...Listed in: Local | Arcadia, Big Screens

Los Angeles, CA
Not bad, been to many AMCs in other cities. This one is quite comparable to all of the other ones I've been to. The seats were great for theater standards. It's usually freeeeeezing, but the temperature was perfect. Watched Immortals here and haven't seen a movie in forever.
I'm glad I was able to revitalize my theater experience. The new rewards program is 6 bucks instead of 12 for the year (right now)- immediate FREE upgrade the first time I used it at the concession stand. Also, with the rewards card, I am able to see the premier of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn... ...Although, I probably won't use that perk, I'm sure there will be a flick I'd want to see in the near future like The Lorax lol.
Clean theater, mall garage parking, extensive movie food/candy menu. Popcorn smell everywhere. The experience was great! -
Review from Naeem H.
Pasadena, CA
This theater is always a go to with cheaper tickets than the Arclight in Pasadena. Also, with it's super matinee for weekend mornings before noon - we can see movies for 6 bucks - which is a steal if you can actually wake up that early...
Parking is extremely easy because it's at the mall, and tickets can be had either in person or through automated computers they have to the side. The people are very friendly. The theaters themselves have great stadium seating with solid sound. The only drawback is the theaters themselves aren't the biggest, so it can get crowded for a popular film.
So for a pretty good experience, this is the place to go in the area! -

Monterey Park, CA
It's our favorite AMC around valley. It feels new, clean and nicely arranged. It has many movie selections and of course, have all the new movies. And it gives out some gift for the new movies, love the poster i got with Puss in boots. :D And nachos from AMC is good, and the drinks have a full variety too.
But the new movies always are crowded with audience, so if you want a good seat in the room, better line up, or check out the movie one or two weeks later. :p -
Review from Tani O.
Los Angeles, CA
KIDS GALORE!
I avoid coming here during the summer because this place gets packed with a lot of young kids, teenagers, and very immature adults. Yes, I've seen some 30-40 year olds here who can't seem to shut the hell up during the movie. Side conversations lasting over 2 minutes is NOT cool and should result in getting your behind kicked out without a refund.
Aside from that, I like coming to this location because it's close and somewhat clean. The seats are kinda spacious and there is plenty of leg room. Don't you hate it when someone gets up during a movie to cross over to the end of the isle and steps on your feet? Even worse when you have on a new pair of expensive kicks!
I like to sit far in the back because I know I tend to get crazy when someone deliberately kicks my chair. If it's a child, you bet I'm going to let the PARENT have "it". It's very annoying and inconsiderate.
We all paid for our tickets to come and enjoy a movie without pestering distractions. Leave your child at home with a babysitter if you have an unruly child that you can't control! This is a movie theater, not a playground! Especially, once the lights go off, the mouth and playing should GO OFF as well.
Okay, I'm cool now.
Parking can be a bitch because this AMC is located inside the Santa Anita Mall. They have valet parking if you're lazy to drive around to look for parking yourself. Some of the valet attendants look pretty young and I don't know if I would trust my ride with someone who looks like they've just acquired their drivers license. Just saying.... (lol)
As for their new rewards program, I personally wouldn't pay 100 bucks for it. I believe they have this new special promotion if you show up for a movie before noon, tickets are 6 bucks each. Cool deal. -
Review from Bryan Y.
San Gabriel, CA
When the AMC in Monterey Park opened, I figured I wouldn't patronize the Arcadia location anymore. But since the Monterey Park location doesn't always have the newest movies, I do find myself coming here every now and then.
Most movie theater experiences are the same, so there's nothing that really stands out about this location. I haven't had any major problems here.
Love that AMC carries Gold Peak iced teas. Yum, those are my favorite. Free refills on large popcorn and drinks.
The only negatives are parking, since it is part of the mall and it can be a challenge, especially on weekends. Also, if you go during peak times (such as holidays), the concession stands and bathrooms can get kind of messy. -
Review from Jeannie O.
Downers Grove, IL
I went here last night to watch The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 1 and it was a good interesting experience.
PARKING:
- I do like how there is plenty of parking at the Santa Anita Mall and parking for Dave and Busters, Wood Ranch and Bar Louie is separated from the rest of the shopping mall's parking.
ENTRANCE/TICKETING:
- Take the escalators up and you're greeted with a huge lobby area of a ticket times board with automated tickets beneath it, or to your right, ticket times and a live person to process your tickets.
CONCESSIONS:
- I did get nachos and dibs. The young lady did a great job of asking if I wanted extra cheese with my nachos and that my large drink gets free refills. I love cheese :D
SEATS/THEATRE:
- Stadium style seats and a great surround stereo sound. For some reason, I never noticed that theaters had stereo where sound could come from one side of the theatre or not until I watched Twilight. The scene of Emmett and Jasper heckling Edward to his bachelor's party was stereo. I guess theaters have always had that (I mean it is 2011), but I just noticed the use.
EMPLOYEES:
- VERY KIND and responsive! There was a young girl who had a seizure and fainted. Three employees came, radio'd for assistance and paramedics arrived on the scene in less than 5 minutes. Even though the audience was VERY patient and understanding, the employees still apologized and reassured us that our film will resume where it left off. As we left, they gave us refund slips.
I'm sure this is protocol but still, it was very professional and well appreciated. -
Review from Yi Z.
It's an AMC, which is like the McDonald's of movie theaters. At least you know there's a certain level of consistency. This place accepted the AMC Silver Passes that I've been carrying around in my wallet for the last 6 years. For that reason alone, it gets a few extra stars.
The guy selling the tickets was so enthusiastic and extra informative about all of the benefits of the AMC Stubs card. Even though he talked for what seemed like forever, we still got into the theater before the movie started.
I'm not a big movie person but at least the seats were comfortable and the picture/sound quality was ok. If there were fewer people, I would've stretched out and napped during the boring movie. -

Even though we have to spend a ton of money every time we go here, but this is the nearest theater to where we live. I dont feel like driving to the theater at the Americana mall in Glendale which has cheaper ticket price.
Fortunately, AMC never disappoint me. Always pleasant experience going here. It's clean with comfy seats. They even have ushers to help us find seat when the theater is full. -
Review from Teresa C.
Usually you get pretty mediocre service at theatres but I was surprised that the employees were actually really friendly and polite while setting up for the long lines awaiting Paranormal Activity 3. They were pretty organized, were polite in addressing the movie watchers in line and even when asking people to move inwards.
Other than that, typical theatre across from Dave & Busters. 16 rooms and a concession stand. Avoid the float, it tastes terrible. -

Found out the old ratty AMC card i had since i was unsweet 13 is no longer valid now. Now there's some annual fee thing, which blows.
Next to Dave and Busters, this place gets pretty crowded. We waited in line for Fast Five OUTSIDE in the cold and were like the 5th persons in line with our group of 6, got into the theatre and it was like half full already- doh- what the heck? -

Im trying to avoid complaining about other movie goers who kick the back of your seat and focus on the venue alone.
The place is really nice since its one of the newer theaters in the area. The seats are nice and comfy and the aisles are plenty wide for people to pass. Overall cleanliness is good. -
Review from Hemang S.
Since 2003 when this theater opened, I have been an avid moviewatcher/customer of this place. The only reason I take off 1 star is just because of its location. The location is both a pro and con in itself, but to me its more of a con.
It's located in the newer section(not the promenade) of the Westfield Santa Anita mall, so there is plenty of parking available for free. If you come (like most people do) on weekend nights, be ready to search hard for a close spot or walk from a 3 minute-away parking spot.
The location is on the second floor, but on the entry area there are plenty of digital ticket booths available for you if you don't want to wait in lines. With LivingSocial, etc, I barely buy tickets at the window anymore.
Come for a dinner/date as there are many restaurants located in this stretch of the outdoor area. AMC now has a stubs program, for every $100 you spend, you get $10, no online ticket fees & free upgrades when buying popcorn/drinks. This only costs $1 a month...for people like myself who watch 2-3 movies a month, this is a damn good deal. -

Saw Horrible Bosses. The person checking ticket stubs had no idea what he was doing. Transformers was starting at the same time, and for some reason, they were making people line up inside to see it. Despite our tickets being for a different movie, the ticket person said we needed to either wait outside the theater (out by Dave & Busters) or line up. We ignored him and sat down on a bench while our theater room was being cleaned. Not sure why they made people line up for Transformers. There were literally 8 people there in line.
The concession stand is your average, overpriced place, but with a twist. AMC theaters offer healthy alternatives now. The Dasani prices didn't really make sense. The regular-sized bottle was $4, and the liter was $4.50. Weird.
Maybe it's just the area, but there were a LOT of entitled assholes at this theater. At least half the people showed up after the previews - when the feature film was starting. They had to bug everyone and split up, One woman even went as far as giving two already-seated parties an attitude because she and her husband showed up late. She expected them all to move over so she and her husband could sit next to each other. Rude! They should have attendants during popular movies, so that everyone isn't distracted by late people. -

Good theater. Very nice seating, and it's all clean. They also have the seats where you can lift the arm bar too. The parking sucks butt though. ) : The staff is friendly and helpful, but ugh, the food is so expensive. I bought a bottle of Dr. Pepper for $3.50. $3.50!!!!!!!!!!!!
