Saw :Silent House" today. Pretty good. Kept me on the edge of my seat for the first hour. The last 25% of the movie became predictable as you figured out the plot. I would recommend for folks who like thrillers/horror.
Good clean and comfortable theater. Their stadium seating is the best. -

We came here on New Year's Day to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in IMAX. This was our first time seeing a movie in the theater in about 2 years since the entire experience became so aggravating. Between the price of tickets, the rudeness of other patrons and the fact that our home theater system is nearly as good I came to the theater with low expectations. I left happily surprised.
The theater is quite big, with a large concession stand. We didn't get anything from there (I prefer to sneak my food in) but they had a nice selection (pizza, soft pretzels, mozzarella sticks, candy, popcorn, etc). The restroom was also clean - hallelujah! It was also a good size so you weren't stuck waiting for an open stall.
The theater itself was very nice. I love stadium seating (especially since I'm so short) and the seats themselves were very comfortable. They also provided a nice amount of leg room (not that I cared but I think my much taller husband was happy). The only downside was the number of commercials and trailers shown before the movie. I don't quite understand how the price of a movie ticket goes up every year while they show more commercials now in the theaters than I ever remember. Ah well. For a night out of the house I would definitely return here. At $30 for two people to see a movie it's not cheap, but what is nowadays? -

The best (and newest) movie theater around. Everything is well kept- seats, food, bathrooms. I love the fact that they have not only regular screening rooms but IMAX as well. Makes it that much more enjoyable. My only qualm is the price of tickets. But I guess I can't blame that on Rockaway, that's Hollywood for ya!

Extremely clean!! Perhaps I'm used to my old home town theaters in NYC, but this place makes me feel like a king when I'm in the seats. Great sound system. Never had a problem here.

This is one of my favorite movie theaters. They always have all the food at the concession stand. Their seats are comfortable and it's new. Parking is good for a theater and there are enough theaters to fit everyone conformably. It's a great movie theater.

Yay!
I love this theater. It's relatively new so the seats are still cushy and comfy and not too crusted over with spilled food. They have IMAX and 3D movie screens here, which are pretty decent, though not as huge as I'd like them to be. The concession stands are on par with any other movie theater, as far as quality and price, but that doesn't phase me since I don't really snack during movies.
There are automatic ticket machines outside for you to collect your prepaid/ordered tickets and you can skip the long queue inside and head straight into your theater. There are plenty of bathrooms and they are usually clean, which is important to me (and I'm sure important to most people).
The parking lots tend to get crowded, but you can always find a space in the lot over (by Petsmart). A short walk isn't going to kill you.
This is definitely my go-to theater when I'm at home. -
Review from Marc R.
To complain about crowds at a movie theater is like saying the grocery store has too much food. It's a freaking movie theater with tons of seats for people so it's sort of the point to be crowded. Arrive with a reasonable about of time to spare and the long line will not cause you a problem.
The staff is not overly friendly nor are they mean. They are adequate. Food served at any movie theater is crap that's not good for you so it's really not fair to complain about it.
If you want a great seat with no worries about someone blocking your view then this is the place. Another nice thing, you can put your arm rest up if you want to hold hands or get close to your date. This is the best choice in Morris county and most likely Sussex as well. -

"You'll love it" everyone raved about the new Rockaway theaters. What a shock to not have to research whether a movie was at the "inner" or "outer" (long term Morris County residents know what I'm talking about). I was sadly disappointed. The theater was filthy. FILTHY. Popcorn was ground into the floor. On my way out of the theater, I saw why-the teenager boy in front of me was throwing it at the two girls in front of him. Hey, buddy, let me know how that wooing manuever goes. I bet the girls can't resist it. I'm surprised I noticed his stealthy moves, due to the noise level.
I have never noticed the volume of a hand dryer, but it was deafening. So loud, that standing in the lobby, you'd swear you were standing next to it. This was more impressive based on the sound coming from the arcade located across from the bathrooms in the lobby. There is no place that you can stand in the lobby without being aurally assaulted. Any AMC employee with the misfortune of being assigned the service counter will have lost their hearing by the time they're...well, my age. I think I'll try another theater. There's more to a quality theater than stadium seating.Listed in: Let's Go to the Movies....

Parsippany, NJ
Awesome theater. I've been searching long and hard for a stadium-style seating theater near my apartment ever since I moved to Jersey. I was really surprised to find stadium-style seating to be so rare here. The only others I know of are in Edgewater and in West Orange, but they are usually packed.
The Rockaway theater still has that 'new theater' smell. I have no idea when it opened, maybe a year as of this writing, but everything about the theater is big from the seats to the screens to the rooms. Perfect. Definitely my go-to theater from now on. Plus the Rockaway Mall is right there. -

I like the new theaters at Rockaway a lot. Good parking, very good soundproofing, comfy seats, usually pretty clean, and the concessions are good and well staffed.
Its a typical recently built good quality theater. A little on the smallish side per theater. Good for a regular movie, but i'd want to see a BLOCKBUSTER in a bigger place. I dunno if some of their theaters are larger than others. -
Review from Krista J.
You gotta love the new Rockaway theaters! It's about time we had some movie screens back at the Rockaway Mall.
I love the set-up and flow of the theaters...a better set-up than the theaters in Parsippany (which, when they were first built were SO fantastic...now they seem really out-dated). When you first walk in there is a nice-size waiting area to the left and the ticket-buying line with about five registers on the right. You have to buy a ticket to progress further into the building, which includes all the 16 theaters, a great new concession stand, and a small arcade.
The concession lines were a little too long...how hard it is to throw some popcorn in a bucket? But I think the kids working behind the counter were just a little overwhelmed by all the food options available and the fact that families buy a LOT of food. The people in front of me got 3 popcorns and 5 sodas plus some candy and nachos.
The theaters are so nice and clean (which will change with time, I know), and the stadium seating and comfy seats are really nice! The screen where I saw my movie was relatively small compared to the screens I'm used to in New York City, but I wonder if they're all the same size or if there are larger theaters in the building...
The parking lot always looks full, but don't be concerned...most of the theaters are probably only at half-attendance. I'm sure this is a huge teen hangout on the weekends...it's a really cool space. -
Review from Mike P.
This place is a pretty good theater. The seating is all done right, stadium seating, and there isn't really much complain about.
The place sometimes does big openings for movies. When the last installment of pirates of the Caribbean came out, a lot of people went and dressed up. It was a mad house. About half our group decided to get dressed up and to top off the costume i had to decided if i was going to bring a sword(blunt metal cutlass) or go to the pet smart next door and pick up a parakeet as prop. Well animal lovers can calm down because we decided there could be a world more problems with the bird then the sword. So when we got there the prop chosen ended up with me getting chased by security for about 30 mins until I had a friend who worked for the theater send down the elevator to get away. They eventually found us and our friend vouched for us, so they just asked us kindly to not impale anyone which I thought was a reasonable request.
One more thing, if you go to see any movie in IMAX get there at minimum an hour early. Ive seen 3 showings in the IMAX Theater and idk if they over sell or the more likely story, kids sneak in, but I always see people walking around looking for seating and eventually leaving. Also buying tickets online isn't a bad idea. -

Very clean theater. As with any theater, the treats are criminally priced, but that's where they make the money. And who can't resist the fake buttery goodness that you put on your popcorn (as much as you want!)!!
It is our favorite theater - my daughter does not need a booster seat and when someone has to walk in your aisle, you don't have to get up - there is that much room between aisles!!
Also, the few times we have been there (once for when Eclipse had just come out) the crowd was good too; I was expecting the nightmare that happened when I saw New Moon when it first came out in Clifton Commons AMC theater (blech)! -

I enjoy going to a see good movie here. If you can avoid it, steer clear of the restrooms on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Maybe it's just the women's restrooms but they can become a disaster. No where is safe to stand! One time I swear there was a man and women in one stall.. I can only assume what they were doing. Another time a girl was puking and they had to close off the entire bathroom and get the staff in there. I was lucky enough to experience it first hand because I was on the way out. The mother of the puker said "she ate too much candy". Apparently she missed the toliet too.

In terms of theaters showing mainstream, "blockbuster"-type films, Rockaway AMC is a very solid, stadium theater. I thought the theater was pretty clean! I've been to some really nasty theaters and this certainly didn't qualify. There are maintenance staff that come in and clean in between showings.
You can order tickets online and pick up the tickets from the machines out front. Awesome time saver.
The sound quality is great, the seats are comfortable, and the experience is just what you'd want. -

The theatre itself is huge. All the screens (even the smallest) are in great condition, and clean. While it can get EXTREMELY crowded, it's no fault of the theatre when idiot people can't drive or act respectful.
They also just recently installed an IMAX projector to their largest theatre (of course timed with the release of Avatar), which only adds to the awesomeness of the place.
However, I will never give a theatre that charges $11.50 for evening shows and ~$10 for popcorn and soda a 5 star rating. -

Rockaway, NJ
went to see 30 minutes or less in a packed house in one of the smaller screens with 146+ seats. I only missed a few minutes of the movie, but i recommend not sitting a bit close to the digital screen as it will become grainy and blurry, except for the credits at the end and the full blast of the sound. Try to avoid buying food at this theater...it's a rip-off!!! Also, AMC's Stubs program isn't as good as moviewatcher.

Okay I don't know where to start with this one, other than it being overpriced, I was definitely not happy with their service about a week ago.
I went to watch the last viewing of jackass 3D at 12:30am, by 2:30am the movie was finished and we were the very last ones to leave in the whole building pretty much other than the workers. next morning I realize I had left my purse there and I called and even went there to ask if they found it, they told me that they have a cleaning crew come in and clean after all the viewings are finished for the night, so they didn't know.
All of my personal information was in there, EVERYTHING that defined me as myself, and they did not help me get some sort of clue as to where it could be at all, at one point I tried calling them to see if they had found it yet and they left me on hold for 20 minutes without ever picking the phone back up, then when I called back the manager got on the phone and told me they didn't find anything and they were not allowed to give out information about the company that works cleaning the theater at night. I believe it is all BS, and they should have had at least a little bit of decency and returned at the very least my documents back to me, very upsetting. -

Hackettstown, NJ
Pros:
- Large CURVED screens!
- Higher angle stadium seating so even a 6'10" patron didn't block my children's view
- twice the legroom found at Mansfield, NJ Clearview cinema
- fold up arm rests!!! Lets kids or couples snuggle or for the growing american seat....
- new and clean
- family restrooms
Cons:
- more expensive than other theaters
- shows and times are not displayed outside
- confusing patron flow for tickets and entrance - get a different architect. -

Clean, good size screens, great sound, comfy seats and Imax to boot! Best theatre in the area. Be prepared to get fleeced at the concessions stands though, just like everywhere else these days!

Very clean and lots of parking. Tickets are priced the same as everywhere else. They should be shot for their popcorn prices.

Great theater....much much better than the one in my hometown (or should I say the closest one to my hometown). It's really clean, super nice/friendly staff and all screens are stadium style. I really liked that they showed commercials while we waiting for the movie. There was no stupid trivia games that usually plays over and over again. The only complaint that I have about this theater is that the seats are a little stiff. They are extremely large and comfy, however they don't recline as easily as typical theater seats.

This relatively new theatre is huge! the major films have huge screens with seats spaced far enough that you can always see the screen over someones head. It can get crowded, but so does any movie theatre when a blockbuster comes out. I recently saw Avatar on thier new IMAX screen and let me tell you it was sweet! This is a very modern theatre with all the amenites you could hope for.

Morris, NJ
Great movie theater. This cinema is fairly new, and it shows with the large scale stadium searing and big screens for all the major flicks. But, they also play the less mainstream, award-winning films in some of their smaller theaters. Yes, it can get crowded. Arriving early and getting tickets from one of the self-serve machines cuts down on wait time.
Overall this is a great theater, far from perfect, but defenitely a couple of notches above the rest. -

Butler, NJ
I've visited this theater multiple times for 3D and regular movies. This is a relatively new theater and seems to be very clean without very sticky floors. The seats are pretty comfortable and with the armrests that move out of the way for that couch experience in non-crowded theater.
The sound system seems to work and I haven't experienced any dropouts and "noise" though sometimes it can be a bit loud. The picture quality hasn't been a problem either.
The concession stand has been fine for me for popcorn, candy, and soda. Sometimes the lines can get a bit long but move quickly. Tickets can be purchased either at the counter or through the multiple computer ticket purchasing machines. Parking can sometimes be an issue during the crowded Friday and Saturday nights, though you can park, but a little further away from the theater.
Overall this is our favorite theater in our area which includes the theaters in Wayne, Kinnelon, Morristown, East Hanover, and Madison. -
