Review from Lindsay W.
Decatur, GA
I went here on Friday to see a movie during the day. They were very kind at the ticket booth. They were also very kind at the concession stand. They definitely rip you off- $8 for a small popcorn and small soda, but that is not the staff's fault. They were very pleasant. The theater we were in was very nice and clean and the temp. was good. My only complaint....the sounds from the theater next door was so loud, that it came through the walls.
Would I go back here...probably...but I will eat something prior. This mall lacks a food court...actually it lacks almost everything. -

I live nearby and have been to this theater many times in the last 6-8 months. The only reason I still occasionally go to this theater is its proximity to my house.
The last few shows I've attended, there have been multiple people around me speaking loudly. There was someone in front of me playing a game on his cell phone. As you can imagine, the light from the screen was distracting.
The staff members at this location are very pleasant. I've never had a single bad experience. The concession stand prices are high, but it's a movie theater--that's what they do.
The 3-D movies are cool at this location.
However, the constant disruptions from other movie-watchers makes me very unlikely to continue attending this location regularly. -

The only reason I came to North Dekalb Mall the last 3 years was for the theater. Now the last time I went the projector broke 12 minutes into the film, and the only option given was a 'free' ticket for another day. No refunds, and a bad attitude from the manager begrudgingly handing out the rain checks.
On the way out, another patron told me the same thing had happened there to his girlfriend about 2 weeks prior.
The ticket vendor acted like I was an annoyance, despite me navigating through the purchase experience talking quite clearly, while he talked like he had a bag of marbles in his mouth.
Won't be going back. There are much better maintained, friendlier, less dingy options. -

Great theater, crappy mall.
If you don't want to walk by blinged cell covers, jewelry pawns, and the modern-day version of the 1800s non-FDA-approved miracle hair tonic store "Something Juanderful", there's a "secret" entrance that spits you out right at AMC. Park in front of Marshall's and to the right of the Marshall's entrance is a Coke machine. To the right of that is an unmarked door. That hallway takes you directly to the AMC.
This AMC is good, but loses a star because they charge $11 and don't have student discounts.
Crowds? No. 3D? Yes. Many screens? Yes. Multiple showtimes for blockbusters? Yes. Bring in your own food? No longer! (you used to be able to bring in food purchased at the convenience store near the arcade -- they still let you, but there is a large sign now saying you can't. Self-service stations? Yes. Stadium seating? Yes -- in fact, this is the first theater in Atlanta with stadium seating. Quick lines? Yes.
All in all, a great movie experience if you put your blinders on to the dying mall around it.
I'm also biased to the fact that I can get there and purchase a ticket from my house in under 7 minutes...1 Previous Review: Show all »

This was the first movie theater in Atlanta to have stadium seating.
You can bring in your own food.

Found the mall depressing and a little shady, but after living in ATL for 10 years everywhere can be a little dicey. Movie theatre seems as though its been kept up ok.
NO ONE in the theatre on a thurs night, which I enjoyed. Price was also pretty cheap ($7 each).
Overall, not a bad place if you don't like huge movie crowds.
Wish they (and all movie theatres) sold beer! -
Review from Tracie J.
It's a movie theater. Nothing special. Some of the theaters have a funny smell. It's usually the ones on the right with the higher numbers.
Avoid the concession stand unless you want to empty your retirement savings. $8 for nachos. *Insert eyeroll* -

I used to go here when I lived a little closer. I only go here is I get a gift card from someone or a movie is showing at a time that works better for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the $5 matinee before 12. I don't know of any theatres that do this besides Movie Tavern.
Also apparently, you can bring food in without hiding it. Wish I would have known that before. :) Cheap tickets and bringing food in are the only reasons I'm giving this 4 stars, otherwise, it would be a solid 3. -

The mall is a dive, being forced to walk through this dive isn't helpful to the movie experience. A direct, exterior entrance would benefit the theater MUCH more.
They have two ticket machines, but no one seems to use them.
Stadium seating is a joke... half the theater is stadium, the other half is typical old style slopped seating. Even at 4pm on a Sat afternoon the theater is already dirty. Restrooms simply are not large enough to accommodate the crowds after a movie lets out.
Some may consider this a place, but I had no cell coverage from the moment I walked into the Faraday cage (a.k.a the mall), then again... it could have just been AT&T. I see it as a safety issue when some freak goes crazy inside the theater or mall.
I certainly would never have considered this place if I did not have free passes to AMC, next time I'll go to Phipps or Parkway Pointe. -

I just had to rate this place since it is my local theater. Being that I literally live 5 minutes away, I like to go here to see midnight showing movie. And yes, it is never sold out nor crowded; which is always a plus. I came here not to long ago to see a movie, but a was little disappointed to see that were quite a few movie hoppers that was disturbing the peace. I'd wish the staff would pay more attention to this kind of stuff, so that at least for those that actually paid to see the movie can watch the movie in peace.
I did not know that we were allow to bring outside food in, I'll definitely bring my now since I hate eating the food that the theater has to offer. -

A great thing about this theatre is the bizarre windowless tunnel that you must walk out of after the mall closes...
Lit in florescent, really BRIGHT... it's like out of some thriller, you hear the clip of shoes on linoleum....and then...the final showdown...
There was more drama and theatrics than the movie I saw, sadly.
I like the theater experience here, it was almost, cool on a hot muggy evening. Now only if the movie was worth watching....it's not that the Dark Knight wasn't a good movie, the aesthetic choices of making it "real" don't jibe to me when talking about a comic book character. Dark dark dark, soon after the first act, just numb. It would be like if Bukowksi wrote about Fitzgerald's world in a real serious manner; sort of brutish and missing the point. A comedy could be made out of that take, though.
There was plenty of parking. And the popcorn was fresh. Sure the outside and mall isn't Taj Mahal nice but the theatres, its screens, have correct projection, and proportional, rare, rare, rare!
And the sound was at correct levels. -

The mall sucks but the theater has been keep up. There are a lot of screens and there weren't many people in the theater which was nice.

You never have to worry about sold-out shows in this dying mall. The theater always has the most recent shows at a decent price and yes, you can bring in your own food. I'm still weird about it though, so I enter with an overly stuffed bag to pretend like I'm sneaking it in.
I love the matinees on the weekends.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Probably the nicest feature of the North Dekalb Mall...which isn't necessarily a ringing endorsement but at the same time isn't a complete put down.
This AMC location looks and feels much newer than the rest of the mall where it's located. It used to get a lot more traffic when the mall was in better shape and had more attractive stores. Still, they've managed to keep the theater in good condition and the sound and screen quality are alright. It's a good place to catch a movie that won't be overly crowded and irritating (unless you go on Friday or Saturday night, and then all bets are off). -

This theater gets five stars from me for one reason:
they allow you to bring in your own food!
Movie theater food is the biggest ripoff of all time. Here, you can purchase food from the food court and you don't even have to hide it! -

Not the best movie house but I like this place on a Sunday when the crowds are low. Only gets busy on the weekends.

I agree with previous reviewers that this theater is the best thing about North Dekalb Mall. There is no main entrance to the theater from the parking lot, so you either have to trek through the mall, wade through a furniture store, or make the eerie walk down a long narrow hallway to arrive at the theater entrance. The movie was watched was only a week old and already in a small theater... or is that the size of all their theaters? If it were a dollar theater, I'd have no complaints. I just hated paying the same price at this AMC as I would at Phipps AMC! If you consider the depressed area it's in, I could understand locals thinking it's a treat to escape there for a couple of hours. Take that however you'd like.
I would not recommend the AMC 16 at North Dekalb Mall to a friend. -

I go here a lot mainly because it is the closest movie theater to me. It is pretty run down though...

Pros: Pretty clean, lots of screens, and hardly anybody there so you don't have to worry about seeing a popular movie on opening night.
Cons: Not enough people if you like laughing with lots of others and enjoy people's random comments during comedies. -

Oh HAPPY day,, excited because I learned about a great deal @ the AMC Theatres in North Dekalb Mall. They have movies for $5.00 on Mondays- Thursdays before 6:00pm. Prepared for a great afternoon @ the movies with the bf, and with coupons for some free popcorn and a couple of sodas, it was a very good day folks. The theater was empty, and there were no lines @ the box office or the concession stand .North Dekalb AMC is always my first choice for movies because it's always clean, and the customer service is normally pleasant and accommodating. Today's service was even more pleasant than normal, probably because it was so empty. Anyway, I loved the deal, the popcorn was fresh, and the movie was good and entertaining..What a way to spend the day!

It's true that NDM isn't the nicest mall anymore - it's depressing now frankly. But I think the movie theatre is still pretty decent and I go for the movie theatre and not the surroundings. Most of the screens are pretty large (as are the theatres) and there is stadium seating. Prices are on par with other places. I think it's a pretty good alternative to Hollywood 25. Comparisons to the AMC at Phipps are laughable as this theatre clearly smacks down the Phipps location in every respect. But I guess if you are looking for an inferior viewing experience at a theatre surrounded by Gucci and Versace stores instead of Ross and Payless Shoes then by all means head over to Phipps!

For opening night for "Awake" this theater was dead. Hardly anyone was here, it kinda creeped me out that it was friday night and the theater was so empty. The mall itself is pathetic..would only come close to this mall to change my tires at the Good Year.

While the mall is bland, the theater has some spice. It regularly plays some Indian flicks so that you can complement your ethnic experience from this corner of town.
