It's damn expensive but it is the best movie theatre in the city.
They have "quick picks" now too - $3 each or 3 for $7.50 (I got 2 and they only charged me $5). I got a 32 oz popcorn and a 16 oz drink - which is really all I needed to feel like I had movie food.
I like that they give you $$ back too on the parking...takes the bite out of $7.75 for a matinee - OUCH! -

I'd have to say the best thing about this AMC theater is the location. Having it right in Newport gives you a great selection of restaurants to eat at before or after a movie. It's especially nice when seeing an evening movie to come out and see the view of Cincinnati.
And for the actual theater itself... The seats are some of the most comfortable ones I've sat in at a theater, very cushiony soft, almost like a recliner. It's usually pretty clean as far as theaters go. Bathrooms are of average cleanliness as well. Movie quality is what you would expect, depending on the movie it can be crisp and clear with great audio clarity. I haven't tried anything from the "lobby" snack-bar so I can't comment on that.
My biggest complaint is the location of the ticket booth in conjunction with the actual theater portion. You have to get your tickets on the ground floor then either ride a somewhat slow elevator up two levels (bad when you're late for a showing) or run up a flight of stairs then take the escalator. The ticket handler is then right off the escalator. Be sure to give yourself some time to get from where ever you parked, to the ticket booth, then up to the actual theater.
Also note that like most commercial theater chains these days there are of course those great TV-like commercials before "Coming Attractions". -

I frequent the AMC at Newport on the Levee for exactly two reasons; it's close to my house in Norwood and it's convenient to about twenty great dining options at or near the Levee. If there was another movie theatre in close range, I'd definitely be patronizing it more often than the AMC.
My major problem with the movie theatre is service-related; the theatres themselves are mostly clean and have comfortable seats. More often than not, though, I wait in a line of at least fifteen movie-goers to buy my tickets because AMC is severely understaffed. Then, when I finally reach the ticket counter, I'm greeted by rude employees who refuse to give me my student discount because I left my student ID in my bag of books for class. Get over it, AMC, a great majority of teens and young twenties in the area are students (this theatre is the choice of XU, UC, NKU, etc.)...just give us the rate!
That being said, the great thing about movie theatres is that once you've bought your tickets you don't really have to deal with any other employees. My advice to you: go to AMC Newport because there really aren't any other modern theatres in the area...but buy your tickets at the credit card kiosk or on the internet before you go! -

AMC Newport on the Levee has become the premiere movie theater to attend for many Cincinnatians and Northern Kentuckians. It's location among lots of shops and restaurants makes it a useful destination where you can have dinner, see a movie, get some drinks, play pool, and promenade across the river.
To go to this movie theater you must purchase tickets on the ground floor of the mall. Then you walk up one flight of stairs and then another flight on an escalator. It's weird how they're separated, but it works with the set up of the mall.
The theaters are big and the seats are super comfortable. The snack counter is LONG and they tend to be well staffed so chances are you won't miss your movie waiting to get some popcorn.
It's a great date place! -

Location: mid to upscale restaurants are in the same center, making this a great location for dates. Proximity to the Haufbrau House is nice. Whoever designed the streets around Newport on the Levee needs to be fired. Constant slow traffic and congestion problems.
Parking: a slight detraction for paid parking at a shopping center, though parking is validated with a ticket purchase.
Seating: excellent seating for date movies (swing-back arms). No worries about someone with a big head in front of you.
Food: over-priced, even for a movie theater. $10 for nachos and a large coke?
Staff: friendly, though mostly working in food.
Patrons: attracts the same crowd as Kenwood. Some are inconsiderate, prone to talking on the cell phone during a film. -

Best theater in greater Cincinnati! They have really comfortable seats, and they show a pretty good selection of movies (all major ones, and a few smaller films). It's also the closest theater to downtown.

Being a newcomer to the area, this is the only theater I've been to. That hasn't been a problem, though. The theaters' themselves are comfy and clean. Even though you must pay to park in the garage or lot, you can get a $4 refund from the theater's freestanding booth on the same level as the ticket office. And since you have now only paid $1 to park, you might as well grab a meal nearby at one of the many great restaurants.
