This location can get pretty busy so time your visit accordingly if you want to avoid the crowds
Parking lot seems to always be pretty full, there are other shops, restaurants, and drink shops in the same plaza.
They have a fancy food/snack bar in the center of the main walk-in entrance, with a self serve soda and icee machine!
This location offers IMAX 3D if you're into that.
Have self purchase ticket kiosks for your convenience -

I came during the opening weekend of The Avengers so this might seem out of the ordinary...
This AMC was croweded, old, and disgusting.
The theatre was not taking any cleaing breaks between each showing. The floor was litreally covered in a POOL of soda. My shoes were sticky and smelly when I walked out. You can tell that everyone else was digusted but everyone settled because of the movie (which was EPIC!!!)
Thank god my shoes were old ones. Needless to say, I tossed them out.
I've had better things about the AMC in Cuppertino. I'm checking that one out next time. -

we came here to see avengers in 3d during its opening weekend. we already knew that the theatre would be packed and the lines would be out the door since this was a highly anticipated blockbuster release, and one of the first of the 2012 season.
we came several hours before showtime to purchase tickets, and were very happy to see that tickets were still available. we were told to come back and start lining up roughly 1 hr before showtime.
parking can be hairy, especially on a weekend, and especially during primetime weekend after dinner hours. we parked a bit further away, near the micro center, since we knew that parking would be better there. but as expected, all of the spaces right in front of the theatre were taken.
when we returned to the theatre, there were already several lines for the avengers (some for imax, some for 3d, some for regular screen) so it was a bit confusing. we had to ask around to find out which line was for our showing, and this was definitely chaotic as some of the staff didn't even seem to know what was going on. when the line finally started to move, and folks headed into the theatre, we were told that we had to get into a separate line and wait some more, since we were in the wrong line. this was frustrating since we were told to wait in this line specifically for our showing. so after waiting to the side, with some other confused/frustrated patrons, we were put back into the same line, and told to wait some more until the theatre for our show was ready for patrons.
about 30 min before our showtime, they let us enter the theatre, and to our surprise, it was pretty empty. even 5-10 min before showtime, the theatre was still pretty empty, a bit surprising considering it was opening weekend and we opted for the 3d screen. no complaints from us, as we got really good seats, front and center.
the theatre was what we expected, the seats were comfortable, and the movie was great. i just wish it wasn't so chaotic before the movie started, with the multiple lines and miscommunication amongst the staff here. -

I been coming to this theater for a while now but haven't gone in a year or so.
A friend of mine bought me some hot tea for my throat and we got denied entrance because of out side drinks. WHAT?!?!?! When did they implement this rule???

The IMAX here is soooo much bigger than the Cupertino IMAX! It's awesome :] Parking on opening nights for awesome movies is pretty awful though so come at least 1 hour early! It took me 30 minutes to find parking when I came to see The Avengers.
The employees here was much nicer though. The kiosks didn't work last time so if you ordered your tickets online through Fandango, come early and stand in the Box Office line to pick up your tickets!
I love their awesome new soda machines and their food service is great and much faster now that they've upgraded everything! Their coffee and ice cream looks delicious :]
Be warned... I went to see Lockout with my mom and little bro it's PG-13... They played rated R ads including Piranha 3DD which was really awkward! -

Coming to see a movie at the theater has really gone down hill. I used to come to the theater for a fun night with friends or my wife and now it has become less appealing with ghetto people and disrespectful kids in every good movie.
While the economy has gone down the prices at the theater for the movies and food has gone up. Now you pay a dollar extra for that hot dog or popcorn because they painted the walls and changed up the decor.
As if there were enough reasons to stay away from the theaters they have now blocked outside food and drinks. For the the past 11 years my wife and I have enjoyed coming to a late movie with cup of coffee or a water. As of tonight I have a latte hidden in my jacket and I am made to feel like a criminal cause I didn't spend $6 for my $3 Latte.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Got four free tickets to Avengers movie today from work.
Parking is a little bit of a bear as the theater complex is in the middle of a
bunch of restaurants like Mexicali Grill, Chevys, Tomatina, Five Guys Burgers,In Out, etc. The popcorn was nicely buttered, drinks were not watered down. You fill your own drinks on the side with a touch screen which is a nice touch.
Service is ok.This theater only has two pairs of bathrooms on each wing which is not enough. Even the mens room had a line out the door following the movie
The other AMC at Eastridge Mall is way better and larger.
The theater screen was small too, sound was ok, nothing like Century XD.
For free tickets, I would visit this theater but I would not pay to come here
when there are so many other finer theaters in San Jose. For the best movie
experience I like Cinemark/ Century Digital XD, followed by AMC at Eastridge mall

This is a really nice AMC location but it was nothing more special than any other AMC location.
I went here to see a movie during the week and it was almost completely empty, which is a nice bonus when you want to avoid the crowds that tend to congregate on the weekends.
The gentleman at the front desk didn't acknowledge the yelp checkin offer and looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for the free popcorn certificate that was offered this weekend. That is kind of a bummer, especially when popcorn is so expensive!
I was also encouraged to renew my Stubs membership because I was told that once it expires, I have to pay the initial sign up fee all over again. I was told my membership expired soon, only to find out it expires in July, which is 3 months from now. What's up with that?
Overall, nice location and centrally located to In-N-Out, I was just overall disappointed with the lack of customer service. -

I used to come here all the time in high school, but since AMC Saratoga 14 and AMC Cupertino are closer to me, I never went here. Especially since parking is a pain in the butt here! But I came here yesterday to watch The Hunger Games, and man, they've revamped this place! The soda machine is one of those newer ones, and my friend got their chicken bites and waffle fries. Very extensive menu for a movie theater! The chicken bites are pretty bready, but lots of chicken inside. And with Ranch! Waffle fries were good too. Also, you pay seperately in a line, which is less waiting time too.
Good place to watch a movie and eat some junk food, but parking here is still a major issue! -

My go-to movie theater. It's big and has all the movies I want to see. Earning rewards through their stubs card makes it worth it too. The only negative is that I usually need to go a bit early to catch good seats since it is always so crowded.

This theater opened in 1997 and I have been going there ever since. I love this place because they have really late showings and I'm a late movie goer. That was I don't have to deal with parking and lines. I love their IMAX theater. Great screen. Great audio. They've recently remodeled their concession stands to offer more extensive food items which is very cool. I always get popcorn, nachos and a soda when I go to watch a movie. That's my routine. I have always been happy with my unhealthy but delicious nachos. Tostitos out of a bag and artificial cheese out of a container. How could you go wrong?
A couple months ago when they were done with the remodel of the concession stand, I decided to try their "gourmet" chili and cheese nachos. Big mistake. The cheese was watered down and the chili was just gross. I can't even explain it. It was inedible. But my movie was starting and so I wasn't going to go back to complain and since it was the midnight showing, I couldn't find a soul to talk to when the movie ended. I was kinda pissed. I spent $9 on crappy ass nachos when I could have been perfectly happy with my $6 artificial cheese.
Since I had no one to complain to, I came home and emailed AMC customer service. At the end of the for that you fill out there is a box that you check off if you would like to receive a response back from them. I checked that box. It's been 2 months. No response. I don't expect you to refund me, but at least send me some sort of "template" of an email back. Just pretend like you give a crap. That's all I'm asking.
I still like this theater but I'm still pissed about my nachos and I'm still pissed that I checked the box and have not gotten a response. Bastards. -

No teenie-boppers and they actually improved a lot in their food selection making it more appealing and pricing is now more reasonable. -

I like coming to this theatre. I always find parking fairly quick. And the movies I wanna watch are never sold out. Another good thing is that I always find a good seat right in the middle here. Some theatres you have to wait in line for an hour to watch a movie, then end up getting a crappy seat... I hate that

Parking can be a pain in the behind, but this place always has the latest hits and lots of theaters showing them. I usually avoid the spaces in the front, facing Mission College Boulevard, on Friday and Saturday nights. That's when this place becomes a hot bed of activity for high school students. Especially crowded is the nearby In N Out because the food prices at the theater are RIDICULOUS.
I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and found parking to be a breeze. Also, they seem to have recently remodeled their concessions area. It's now much more self-service, but the prices have gone up. Who is willing to pay $7.75 for "chicken bites"?!? Bring back the chicken tenders, which were at least more substantial! Also, a hot dog for $4.50 is a huge rip. But when you're starving, sure what the heck.
There never seem to be enough ticket takers in the front kiosk. And what's up with people not using the self-ticket purchase stands? You can also use them to pick up your Fandango online ticket purchases.
Bathrooms are generally clean, and lines move fast because there are plenty of stalls. -

Central theater to the South bay, use to be my go-to until AMC Cupertino opened.
They have the high tech coke machines I like so much, a decent arcade, 20 theaters. They call it IMAX theater but its really just sound and a slightly bigger screen. I was pretty disappointed when I first discovered what "imax" meant.
Good snacks, clean and large theaters. -

They need to do a better job with openings of popular movies. On May 4th I saw Avengers 3D at 6:40PM, and there were lots of problems.
Though I used Fandango to purchase a ticket, none of the 4 ticket kiosks were working, so I had to stand in line for 15 minutes to get my ticket. At least I had a ticket, and arrived early enough to get a good seat.
Theater 6 had a large "dimple" in the screen near the top and center. It was very distracting since it sometimes looked like characters had a wart, or there was something hanging in the air.
It seemed that all of the floor for the row was sticky with spilled drinks, and other rows looked just as bad. I had a backpack, but fortunately I had paper napkins to put under it. There were several cleanup staff waiting after the movie, but just with brooms, no mops!
No staff was managing lines, nor were there "ropes" directing lines, so people were standing out in the street as the line got longer, rather than turning next to the building. There's a lot of car traffic, so cars were swerving to get out of the way.
On the plus side, the picture and sound were good, the seats were comfortable, and the audience was nice. I didn't use the concession stand, so no comments there (and, no, I didn't eat snacks from my backpack!). The restroom was clean and well stocked.
I like the theater's proximity to places to eat like World Wrapps, Starbucks, Tomatina, and In-And-Out. -
Review from Elaine N.
I think this theater has the best seating and very roomy. I also like how it is convenient to many chains such as starbucks, jamba juice, in n out, etc...No doubt it is one of my favorite theater to go to despite finding parking can be a pain in the butt!

This is our go-to theater because of the location and movie selections but damn... 5.75 for a small popcorn?! That makes me not feel guilty about sneaking granola bars and snacks in my purse next time I go.
We'll still go but I'll avoid the concession like the plague. Talk about doubling the price of your movie...
See ya there. -
Review from Megan C.
You know how there's always that one obnoxious person in the theater that laughs like a maniac or makes stupid side comments? I've never experienced that here lol. But yeah the parking sucks and people always kick my seat...I seem to experience that in every theater. I love the new soda machines bc they have so much variety and the grab n go popcorn area is efficient..but I wish the popcorn was hotter. The associates who clean up the theaters are SUPER friendly. I watched 2 movies that day and both times the workers wished us a good night and asked if we enjoyed the movie. Sadly we didn't..The Grey sucked! Drag on pos movie.
The security guards in the movie hallways need to muscle up a bit because they're not intimidating. They kind of just stand there like statues and stare a lot. -

Went in to watch the films nominated for the Best Picture Oscar with a group of friends. The Oscar Movie Marathon has been happening for the last five years. For 30 bucks, it's a great deal to see 4 films. Next Saturday you can see the other 5 films nominated for Best Picture.
The theater was clean. The seats comfy. Good choices of snacks and food. Loved the soda machines, you can mix and match your flavors. The only negative is high prices at the concessions, but isn't that always the issue at theaters? -

My favorite place to catch a flick with friends. There are a ton of places to eat from quick drink spots such as Starbucks and Jamba Juice to full on restaurants like Tomatina and Mexicali Grill.
The IMAX screen isn't a typical IMAX screen as it is only slightly larger than a traditional screen with slightly better sound quality. A true IMAX theater has a very different experience. But, with this being my only complaint it really isn't bad at all!
They revised the concession area to be much more convenient for patrons to grab a quick snack. Updated soda machines, more snack options, and a revised check-out system that gets you in and out much faster are major pluses! -
Review from Mikey U.
This theater has been around long enough that I almost don't remember when it wasn't. I know that's kind of weird thing to say, but when I attended neighboring Mission College, they had just broken ground on the plaza that would eventually become Mercado AMC 20 and its cache of requisite Starbucks/Jamba/eateries. I was sure I'd fail a bunch of classes for lack of discipline and willpower.
I didn't fail. I DROPPED classes; there's a difference.
Still, for a time, Mercado was a hotbed of activity on the weekends, particularly for the under "drinking age" set. "Santa Clara. Ain't sh*t else to do", we used to joke. You'd think after all these years it would have settled down, but sure enough the rampant crowds of hormone-y adolescents are still, well, rampant.
I still come here too for my occasional movie fix with a friend (I'd like to call our outtings "dates", but she won't let me and will probably hit me for this!), though we keep our cinematic shenanigans to daylight hours or weeknight evenings.
The number of screens can't be contended with (even if a couple are just a shy larger than a garage door) which helps to keep some older movies in circulation long after they've left smaller theaters. The locale is easily accessible -- weekend teenaged traffic jams aside -- with nearby eateries and restaurants making it a one stop shop for a casual afternoon to-do or impromptu weeknight outting. Dinner and a movie; you can poo-poo the cliche idea all you want, but it's tried-and-true, pressure-less formula that lets people talk as much or as little as they want.
Still a decent place to catch a flick, it doesn't take much.
Seats. Screen. Sound. Snacks.

WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE?!
The inside of this place is completely un-navigatable. Seriously. If your theater is on the opposite side from where you got your tickets checked you have to walk through a maze of ropes and lines to get to the correct side. Totally crazy.
Parking sucks, tickets are too expensive, IMAX is a joke (it's just a slightly larger screen than the rest), and now the concession area is out of control. Oh, and they make you stand in a little time-out area if you dare bring in outside food or beverages. Yeah, like I'm going to pay $10 for a soda and some popcorn.
Welp. 1-2 stars. More like 1, but I'm trying this new "benefit of the doubt" thing, so I'll leave it with 2. -

I came here on a slow day to watch Project X a few days ago, and the experience was pretty good.
Only saying that though because I was literally in there with one other friend. The people here are all very nice and helped us around when we got somewhat lost, also conversed with us. While we were waiting for the movie to start.
Luckily for me, by the time I was done with the movie the place started filling up, so we left.
I also enjoyed the snacks and the theater, is was comfortable and clean :) -

They've really made some nice changes to the concessions stand since I worked here back in 2005-07. The food tastes a lot better... it's as good as what you'll find at most fast food places, and the prices are high, but $9.95 for some waffle fries and a Chicago hot dog isn't crazy. You'd pay more than that at a baseball game ,at least.
The screens are all digital now. Really clear and fun to watch, but it makes me sad as well... my projectionist skills are obsolete, unless I want to work with the scratched films at second-rate theaters. And probably Cinemark. -
Review from Karen L.
I love this place, it just keeps getting better and better! They improved quite a bit over the last few months just by revamping the food court. Now they have a section to pick up your popcorn size of choice, order foods (pizza, waffle fries, and etc), and new drink section.
You would order at a the food destination and pick up in the same place. There's a separate new line you have to go in to pay for your items. This new procedure makes it less crowded in one spot, but you have to carry your items in line.
I ordered their new Philly waffle fries for $8.75, it was pricey but so darn good!
Meat, cheese, onions, and fries. This is definitely something different for a movie theater.I'm glad to see they have a variety of food choices now.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I love this place! If I have to go see a movie I'd definitely chose this place over any other. First of the place is HUGE which is a plus...you never want a tiny movie theater. That is the whole experience of going to the movies rather than sitting at home and watching it on regular tv.

Well, well AMC Mercado... looks like you put your fancy pants on!
Prices?
Remember when a movie was just a couple bucks?? But alas those days are long gone! Paying almost $12 for a movie is the new norm. Is AMC to blame? No.. unfortunately not.
Concessions?
Thumbs up! Despite my comments on price-- I do commend AMC Mercado for making a movie watcher experience a bit more "worth it" with their newly renovated concession stands. I'm talking the fancy soda machines that will mix all sorts of concoctions, a cafeteria style food area, and the best part of all... a FRESH-- and I mean FRESH fruit froyo stand. I'd pay the $12 for a movie just to pick up some of this goodness.
Theater?
Big lush seats. Plenty of butt room. Plus lots of space to walk in front of people when nature calls.
Service?

Went here last night since I got two tickets from an office white elephant. We ended up watching Mission Impossible (which was AMAZING by the way!). The theater is pretty nice and modern looking with several refreshment stands.
The workers were trying to get us to buy gift cards and some membership package or whatever which was pretty annoying since all we wanted to do was find our seats. I admit the IMAX screen isn't as impressive as other ones I've been to but at least the seats are comfortable. -

I always come here for movies. My family comes maybe once or twice a month. The one thing I don't like is the new concession stand. There aren't any popcorn machines anymore. There popcorn is not fresh. It hasn't been since the new stand went it. Maybe they pop in days in advance. But other than that this theatre is great.
-
Review from Elise G.
Newly remodeled concession area. The popcorn is grab and go, which is fast, but not warm and fresh. There's a new menu with Chicago Dogs and gourmet nachos, which looks more extensive than the old one. The renovation makes the lobby look brighter and more open and service is faster and more efficient.
The movie was a plus too. Theater chairs had tall backs, the arm rests lifted for easier cuddling access, and there was barely anyone there on a Monday night.
Great date night.
