Review from Damon R.
Its been a long time i shouldve left you......
Now that the age ban is in place AMC is a place that adults can enjoy without rowdy teenagers.
The staff are generally very helpful and the concession stand(s) is massive. The theaters is always clean and presentable.
I like watching the IMAX movies here on the ginormous screen. Its a little expensive for families or groups so BEWARE!
I have been going here since it open i was a teenager then and I'm i will continue to go.
Mayfair AMC is close to eateries such such Bw3, Red Lobster, Dave N Busters, and Applebees so get a bite to eat after the movie. -

This theater is just ok. I've had better, and I've had worse.
My husband and I recently saw the documentary "Bully." (which was great, by the way). I realize this isn't the typical movie that would draw the huge crowds, like "Hunger Games." There were a good 10 people in the theater when we saw this on a recent Thursday night.
Why the 2 stars? OK - so if you are watching anything in a 'not so full' theater, there is absolutely NO GOOD REASON to crank the SHIT out of the speakers. You have the gigantic speakers. We know that. Do you really have to use them to the full maximum? I nearly lost my hearing during the previews. AMC, is this really necessary? I do realize this is an important option to have for a few films, such as action or zombie films, or something featuring Stallone or that badass dude who is in a lot of action films : Jason Statham . Not something like this. I don't know if this is a programming issue with whomever was running the projector (if there was anyone running the projector), but frankly it was obnoxious.
Staff : 3 stars. OK, so the dude in the front selling tickets was really nice, and took time out to answer a rather lengthy phone call (it's ok - I totally understand, that stuff happens) but he was the only cashier at the time. Finally, after about 5 minutes of the line backing up, someone came to help sell more tickets. I found it odd that they didn't have more people up there to begin with, to man the registers.
Concession stand : decent offerings, and the typical inflated prices. The "Head Guy" tried to help the two twits in front of us as best he could. He was fine, and his customer service was great, but I was more annoyed by the 10 year old kid behind the counter chatting up a local, and then forgetting to get my husband his diet Pepsi after repeatedly being asked by Head Dude. So 5 stars for the Head Dude - 0 stars for The Kid.
I'm a sucker for cleanliness. 4 stars for the cleanliness of the theater!
Overall, if you are in a pinch (as in this is the only theater in the area showing this movie), it'll do. My advice would be not to expect anything fancy, or anyone to go out of their way to offer service, and you'll be fine. If you don't want to pay the high concession prices, they didn't pat me down or anything. And make sure to bring ear plugs if you don't want to lose your hearing!Listed in: I am a Girl of 100 Lists

AMC Mayfair is not the best theater I've experienced, but it also not the worst. It is a perfectly normal, average place to view a ridiculous blockbuster of a film and to potentially shell out upwards of $50 for a family night out (including concessions, etc).
I rarely go to the theater what with utilizing Netflix on the regular (and Redbox when I just NEED to see something brand spankin' new and don't want to pay the PlayStation Network's outstanding fees). On the rare occasion, I tend to hit up the Oriental.
That said, I did visit Mayfair this past weekend to see "The Cabin in the Woods." I now bow to the superior review summarizing skills of fellow Yelper Mike P. and make my attempt, adding grades where necessary or relevant.
Ticket: purchased from automated kiosk (A-), $8, no long line waiting (A) for this guy
Purchased: Medium cherry Coke (A), small popcorn (C+).
Sat My Butt: About halfway up the main section, center aisle, for maximum viewing and auditory pleasure (A). Hi-five to self!
Cost (C): Wow, $8 for a matinee? Geez. I get the experience of seeing a movie opening weekend and in the theater, but I pay $8.50 a month for Netflix. That said, I will probably still view several more movies on the big screen this year -- some movies are just better on a ginormous stage with deafening sound.
Staffing (B+): Aside from my viewing partners, I interacted with only two human beings -- the ticket taker and concession worker. The ticket taker had that vacant stare of a man who has worked entirely too long in a dark and temperature controlled environment. The concession worker was friendly and efficient. Nice staff work, AMC. Well done.
Overall experience (B): As previously noted, it is not my first choice for a theater, but it is the closest "big" theater when I do get that itch to step outside the streaming wave of entertainment.Listed in: Yelp "100 in TwentyTwelve"…

AMC Mayfair isn't my first theater choice. It seems to be a hot spot for teenagers, and teenagers aren't my favorite people with whom to enjoy movies (I teach middle school. Sometimes I need a break from the little darlings). I also find parking to be frustrating, and there's nothing special to attract me.
That said, it's a fine theater. It's convenient to be able to shop and grab snacks before seeing a movie. I don't know what the official rules are, but no one has ever said anything to me about bringing in food or beverages from the mall. I mean I've never tried to bring in a meal, but a latte is nice to enjoy during a movie. -

My girlfriend and I recently saw "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" in theater #16. It feels odd walking through a closed mall to get to the theatre. There was a security guard at the ticket counter which was probably looking for contraband candy.
SMUGGLED: In our own candy purchased at a local convenience store.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Tickets costing $10 each and a theatre with nice sound and comfortable seats makes for an affordable date night. I do appreciate the covered parking area for the winter months. I'd rather see a movie at the Oriental or Downer but AMC is closer to my home base.
BETTER THAN: Marcus Theatres because AMC doesn't make you feel like a hostage so they can whore out your eyes to corporate sponsors. -

Everytime we've been here, there's been a fight or some other issue. We took our son to see STAR WARS here and they cut out the single most important scene in the movie. We most likely will not see another movie here.

U know that scene in a Charlie brown Christmas, where Lucy is rattling off a laundry list of phobias to Charlie brown? Id have to reference it for the official term but I get that fear of wide open spaces every time I come here. Walking up to the theater, I always feel like I'm about to go thru airport security, with their labyrinth of turn aisles. But then I get in and im stuck wandering these huge empty hallways. Yes, they have the stadium seating, but whenever I have to use the restroom or get up to buy a concession during a movie (every 15 min - come with me, its a great time) with the way its laid out I feel like I'm walking past everyone in the theater. And then I'm stuck lost and confused out in the hallway.
Some other pluses and minuses:
+ they get a nice selection of blockbusters, kid flicks, and more cerebral, brainy critics choice flicks
+ if u go the non-contraband candy shoved in ur purse route, youll find a nice albeit price-y selection of concessions. Different flavored soft pretzels, pizza, etc. (A side note : in another comic strip from the 80s, Bloom county, they once ran a strip on 'megaplexes of the future'. Opus the penguin ordered a small diet coke and was charged $6. That's fast approaching not-being-a-joke land.) But I digress.
+ employees r pretty friendly.
+ they do mornin showings on the weekend for like $6. I appreciate having this option. U can get a matinee price and still have the rest of the day ahead of u. And how awake do u really have to be for a movie.
- unless u come for the above mentioned early showing, finding parking is the usual mayfair nightmare.
- they tried to sell me some AMC card 2xs while I was there. The deal u got by buying it was confusing and sounded like I'd lose the card before gettin my monies worth.
Yet another side note : yelp, u made a liar outta me. I said I don't go to theaters but this is my 4th theater review in 5 months. -

This is an okay place to see a movie. We just went to see a movie (Hangover 2) and it was $6 before Noon on weekends (Not sure about weekdays) so it is a pretty good deal.
They showed a good 40 minutes of previews before the movie. WOW! That is crazy. I had no idea that they were even allowed to show that many commercials sprinkled with a few previews. Not a fan of that. -

I like this theater. My best tip for people who don't sleep in on the weekends is to hit a $5 morning/late morning matinee. When you arrive, the mall is near empty and you can find a parking spot right out front - a pretty amazing feat for a weekend. The screening rooms are near empty - which is a treat to me - less chance of annoying people to disrupt the movie!
The theater is huge and there's a nice arcade that even has DDR. -

...this theater is okay. Doesn't really differ from any other theater out there. The 3D screens are pretty cool, but if you're like me...the prices at the refreshment stand are infuriating. $4.50 for a box of skittles that I could litterally get for $1 at the Walgreen's across the street (which I highly recommend doing - you'll have to sneak it in though)?! Come on, son! The previews seem a little long as well. I was thirty minutes late for Hangover 2 and I still watched 10-15 minutes of previews. If you have the choice, I'd spend an extra 10 minutes heading west on 94 to Majestic Cinemas in Brookfield. They have a great pizzeria and a nice bar.

Best part about AMC is that if you're an early riser and you show up for the first show you'll get in for $5. As an avid movie frequenter, I'm grateful. Gives me more options than just doing Marcus Spotlight. The theater itself is huge, get ready for a hike...

Typical AMC type theater, although this one was like a ghost town. not many people. Both patron s and workers alike were pretty sparce. Entertaining maze to find your theater though.
