*** I'm a week behind on my reviews so I'm dropping the Bay area reviews first before the Yelp Vegas Spring Break ones. ***
Where in SoCal do I find movie theaters like this one? And by this one, I mean, comfy and clean stadium seating, excellent picture and sound quality, and no crying kids? LOL
I'm a fan!Listed in: Bay area with Daidai :)

Writing this review for Samantha (cust service staff) and Tim (supervisor). They saved date night from a ticketing and seating nightmare for 'The Avengers' within 5 minutes. We were expecting to be sent away and 'come back tomorrow instead' or something lame like that, but they took great care of us.
Thank you both, you two are heroes.
This theater was clean (including restrooms) regardless of the thousands of people that were in for 'The Avengers'. Parking is also more manageable than CineArts Santana Row so we will go here all the time moving forward. -

It's been over an hour, shouldn't the fart smell go away by now?
I couldn't figure out the source of the lingering stench because the theatre is fairly clean. Several possibilities came to mind:
- some lactose intolerant glutton is addicted to butter-drenched popcorns
- an over-excited toddler dropped a deuce
- someone snuck in a durian
- PG&E at its finest
- my upper lip
Odor issue aside, this AMC is actually not bad. The screen is nice and big. The seats are comfortable. And the employees are courteous and helpful. -

So I winged it tonight and got here 15 minutes before my movie started, sans tickets and having never been here before. The parking garage was like a maze to me, but I followed a group of folks, correctly guessing that they too were going to have a movie night like myself. Three stars for the garage experience on a Friday night.
Ticket buying experience? Usually I Fandango, but since I was winging it, I opted for the automated ticket vending machine. Five stars there, it was a breeze. Even with a short line.
I'm used to large SoCal movie theaters: Edwards, Regal - stadium seating places where you don't have to worry about tall people sitting in front of you, and pretty much any seat in the house gets a good view of the screen. AMC Cupertino is like that. Awesome! Also cool was that, unlike the big SoCal theaters, my ears weren't blasted out by the sound system. Don't you hate that?
Anyway, five stars for the in-theater experience.
Well, I didn't get to rate the food vending because I was more concerned about scoring a seat than popcorn. And besides, I already ate. I'll reserve that for another time. Maybe a matinee. 'Cause $11.00 per ticket is kinda pushing it.
At least the movie was worth it. -

Clean theater, good section at the concessions stand, and very polite staff. What more can you want out of a movie theater? Oh yeah, a great Imax experience! I love going here for the big block buster movies since I don't have to wait in line outside. I can get a frozen yogurt in the food court and wait in the air conditioning for the latest action adventure flick.

This AMC is as good as it gets. It's fairly new and the seats are plush and nice to sit on. The theatre is upstairs on the 3rd floor while the ticket counter is on the 2nd. There are also ticket machines so you don't have to wait in line to buy your ticket from the kids working at the ticket booth - CAVEAT the machines don't always work.
Note: I got carded for 21 Jump Street by a high school kid. I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. I'm 23 for gosh sakes! Bring your ID anyway if you wanna go rated R! -

It got so hot inside the movie theatre last Friday I'n the Avengers show. Not warm which is expected in a full house, but sweating claustrophobic uncomfortable all-you-could-think-bout heat. Everyone was sweating but who really wanted to leave I'n the middle of an epic movie to complain? Talked to the manager after but what was she to do at that point. Seriously, if someone had the bird flu in the theatre that night, it would have started a full blown epidemic.

Love it! You can watch a movie without having pesky high school kids making out and making tons of noise like at the Mercado. WE usually show up 15mins before a show and get great seats, get some snacks in time for the previews. It's very child friendly and family friendly. Everything is still new, clean, fast and just great. I'm glad it's so close to me and is not jam packed.

Hmm, I've never reviewed a theater before...I don't think I've ever gone to a bad movie theater or had a bad experience. This one is pretty clean and the staff are very friendly. Movie theater popcorn is movie theater popcorn. Oh gosh so many students, so sometimes it can get a bit noisy outside of the theaters.
I always come to this theater when I watch movies with my family. It's always nice to sit back and relax. Oh and it definitely gives a reason for people to come to Vallco. Although I wonder how many people actually shop at Vallco now? -

I'm not a big fan of movie theaters in malls - most of them are older (as most malls are) and parking is a nightmare.
I came here for a weekend afternoon matinee and was pleasantly surprised. Parking at Vallco is a nightmare and much of it can be attributed to the poor design and traffic flow. If i had to guess I would guess that the parking structure was added in a different era, but I would still fire whoever designed the parking structure - definitely not an engineer!
We waited in the first floor parking structure for about 15 minutes mostly behind people waiting to take parking spots as others backed out. Let me tell you a secret - head straight for the lower levels!!! Once we got down there we found a plethora of parking, vacant stalls just waiting for us to take our pick!
The popcorn lines were short and with free refills on the large sodas and popcorn we were set. I will tell you as a popcorn snob that they do not use Orville Redenbacher kernals - popcorn was average, but not salted (which is great) as you add your own salt and butter flavoring (i have only been to one theater in the past 2 years that actually still uses real butter!).
The stadium seats were extremely comfortable and large which i love as i've found that people eating popcorn need plenty of elbow room. I don't want popcorn nor an elbow in my side so I loved the seating here. Sound and picture quality were both good as were the staff and cleanliness.
The mall was not crowded as they are completely remodeling the 2nd floor, some good eats here as well (check out the mall directory) for those that want to grab lunch or dinner here. -

Great location in a dying or dead mall. I have seen most of the Harry movies here and a lot of 3D. The theater while used a lot still looks fresh and very clean. On a regular night the lines are never very long and we are able to get in and out quickly.
For opening night movies they have the crowd controlled pretty well except for when the line backs up onto the escalator.
I just wish their was a burrito shop close to feed me while i wait in line or to sneak into the theater. -

Hubby and I don't go anywhere else but AMC 16 Cupertino Square to watch movies. We've been coming here since this movie theater opened a few years back, and we love coming here. It's the best movie theater around town.
This theater always plays the newest blockbusters and has a variety to choose from. It's ALWAYS CLEAN here, and on top of the food court, they also have a Cold Stone and a Cinnabon to satisfy any craving for sweets.
Added bonus: Ladies, if you're early for a movie, stop by Victoria's Secret to shop right before you watch your movie.
Parking sucks here during peak hours (Friday nights and the weekend), but then again, what movie theater is expected to have an empty lot during those times? -
Review from Erica S.
I've been coming to this theater now more often than others. Still don't like the parking lot here, but at least I never have to drive around looking for a parking space like at AMC Mercado. I also like that it's never overly crowded so I can usually find a decent seat and no annoying teenagers loitering around like AMC Mercado. On a weekend, it's mostly families or couples.
The ticket line can be long so make sure to come a little early. There's also plenty of ticket machines if you'd rather use those, but if you have gift certificates, you can't use the machines.
Clean restrooms. Lots of food/snack choices. Friendly staff.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This theater is pretty good considering that it is located in a mall that I can only determine is on its last leg. The concession stand is fully stocked but the price is really expensive compared to the other theaters that I frequent. The place is clean and the bathrooms are nice. The chairs and screens themselves are good as well. There is ample parking and decent restaurants around the area so if you don't want to pay for the food there; grab a bite to eat before or after.

This theater is AWFUL
The employees are rude, especially the managers. Absolutely no care for the customer, and the IMAX is barely large enough to be considered IMAX. It is a complete RIP-OFF, Spend your money ANYWHERE else but this AMC! -

The only time that I'm here at Vallco Mall is when I want to see a movie.. I actually enjoy this movie theater, friendly staff, and fairly clean. I recommend going to the movies not hungry because you'll spend a lot of money at the concession stand..

Review from Leslie H.
They are SUPER strict about not letting in any outside food or drink. Really, you expect me to buy a $6 medium coke? No thank you. The venue is pretty new so each theater is pretty clean still. Seats are still upholstered nicely and not stained or sticky. The aisle ways are clear and the steps aren't sticky with spilled soda yet. My only objection is that some of the theaters are REALLY small. We had to wait in a line downstairs from the theater entrance for about 30 minutes before they would let us into a showing for a movie that had already been out for a week. Even though we weren't at the end of the line by any means, by the time we got up to the theater itself, the place was already packed. Not sure why they were showing it in such a small theater considering it was a fairly new movie.
Also, this AMC says that they have IMAX, but all they really have is a few theaters with a bigger screen and surround sound...I'm not sure they really qualify as IMAX, so don't get suckered into paying more for the ticket. It's not worth it. Parking is pretty easy in the Vallco structure right next to the mall entrance closest to AMC.
Oh, also, their bathrooms are decently clean too. -

this place is brand-spankin' new! developers have been trying to revive the vallco mall for years now, and while their efforts haven't really succeeded, this movie theatre is a real exception! it's a little complicated to navigate because you are inside of the mall. you purchase your tickets on the second floor, then take an escalator to the third floor which is solely dedicated to the theatres.
this place is really clean, which is great, and service has always been great as well. seats are comfy too, no complaints there! plus the screens are BIG. but of course the ticket prices and snack prices reflect the newness: they are so spendy! pro tip: get there for the first shows of the day, which are way cheaper than the later shows. -
Review from Ayaka S.
This AMC is my most favorite movie theater in the South Bay.
They took over a large chunk of the dead Vallco mall a few years ago, so the theater itself is fairly new. There is ample parking since it's connected to the mall, and you don't have to worry about The parking lots filling up since the mall is like deserted anyways.
I think the location is centrally located to many restaurants, so going on a dinner and movie date is super easy. And, the mall itself is located right off 280, so it's easily accessible. This location is more calm compared to AMC 20. The people who come to this location are more respectful during the movie.
All in all, I love this place, and when I watch a movie, I'll drive a few more extra miles to come to this theater. -

I've always loved coming to this theater because it's never too busy when we go and I love how it is set up from the couches to the waiting area and the comfy theater seats. Minus 2 stars because the last time we came here there was only 2 cashiers working and the lines got fairly busy real quick (I didn't mind but the lady in back of us was throwing a fit to the customers ahead of everyone to "PAY ATTENTION" & keep the line moving.) Also docked off 2 stars because the AMC Ticket Machines were all out of tickets. I'd still return because I love this theater & its ambience.

Really nice theatre though its sad to see that everything has emptied out of vallco shopping mall.
Nice place to go for a clean, large theatre with smaller and more family oriented crowds. -

LOVE this theatre.
I go the extra couple of miles to come here instead of the one closer to home because it's CLEANER and just NICER in general.
Each theatre feels a bit small within this AMC, but it's definitely better (even if it may be a bit more crowded!)
Also, the bathrooms are pretty well kept :)
This is my go-to theatre! -

First time going to this movie theater yesterday was absolutely insane actually finding and getting in to the theater.
Had to go down a small stairwell outside to enter the mall.
Entered mall through a door label 'AMC'...only to find a big empty blank area.
Head wandered then I realized I need to go 'up' the escalator.
Ah...there's the ticket booth.
Wandered trying to figure out how to get in the theater after realizing I couldn't get in.
I asked a random lady who told me I needed to go 'up' the escalators.
Up the second set of escalators and wah lah...finally found the theater entry.
The whole movie going entry was wack but I really liked the theater and the bathrooms are to 'pee for'...
Oh yeah, in the small arcade area I found an ol' school PINBALL MACHINE and for that I'm giving this review 5 stars!!!!! -

I really like this AMC. It is very clean. The screens are decent-sized. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly empty. Also this theater sometimes shows special foreign films like Love (a Taiwanese romantic comedy). I do like it when mainstream theaters show special movies.

I personally prefer the Mercado to Cupertino Square... it's just a bit out of the way and doesn't seem quite as friendly. And I guess they can't be blamed for the location, but there's a lack of decent restaurants in Cupertino Square (VALLCO.) You have Burger King, Subway, and some teriyaki place... then a pretzel dog stand. Other than that, it's just the incredibly slow TGIF.

One of my favorite places to enjoy a movie. Parking is usually available and after a maze from the parking garage and into the movie theater, the seats are usually clean and the staff friendly! :)
....I think they're trying to promote some type of AMC card...they keep on asking... -

This theater is AWESOME! Came here early morning on Sunday for the first showing of Paranormal Activity 3 for the day.
Not only did we get our tickets for $6 a piece instead of $11, but we also got the theater completely to ourselves. And we're not talking a small theater, it was HUGE. All to ourselves. Awesome.
I love that the theater is on the 3rd floor away from the mall. It's never busy and a GREAT place to see a movie!Listed in: Cupertino, Local Theaters

As one who is realllllly fed up with movie theaters -- the pricing, the dinginess, the parking, the lines... AMC Cupertino really stepped up to the plate and actually, dare I say... impressed me?!
Yes.
Ok. Ok. Yes, valco is pretty much a vacant mall but that's what makes the experience even better! Imagine a mall with NO PEOPLE... *sigh of relief*
Cool stuff:
+ Automatic Ticket dispenser thingys.. you don't usually have to wait in line for these things...
+ clean & comfortable chairs
+ less sticky floor than usual
+ parking is plentiful
+ big theaters, plenty of seating
+ close to Alexanders, Benihana, TGI Fridays....
Downer... theres a food court like right outside of the theater entrance, but don't be fooled-- you can't bring these goodies inside the theater unless you have some kind of huge purse that can comfortably house a cinabon... let it be known!
Yay for matinees! -

People don't know, but it is often one of the less busy AMCs in the area. It's pretty new so the chairs are good and the bathrooms are top notch. People who come here generally are more polite, so I don't have to deal with the average movie theater experience with rude patrons. The only thing is like the other AMCs, they don't have ushers checking up on the screening room to make sure people aren't on their cell phones or being otherwise inconsiderate. If AMC could just value their well behaved patrons, and shun the jerks, I think I would be more willing to go to the movies more. They are asking for $10+ a ticket, so I think that should cover an usher popping in to check on things every now and then. This is why going to the movies had declined in recent years, because the lack of quality control with the outrageous prices. My husband got popcorn and a drink, and it cost more than a 3rd movie ticket! I mean, really?

One of the better movie theaters! They clean everything promptly, and the workers were nice-enough. Bring atleast 10$ for a soda and popcorn, as rediculous as that sounds. Since Valco Mall is so unpopular, there ushually isn't much of a line or crowd for anything and you get better seats durring a movie. Also, its located in a good neighborhood, so you can feel safer if your sending younger kids alone.

The beating heart of Vallco- seriously, this mall would be dead without it. A modern, clean, and updated movie theater at the top floor of the mall, enjoy your flick in comfy, clean seats (without the mystery stains) - they moveable armrests for those of you who want to snuggle with your date.
All the signs and corridors are well marked and easy to see. The screens are wide and clear.
The bathrooms are amazingly clean and never crowded.
I have enjoyed many many films here and definitely will keep coming back :) -

AMC 16 offers all the luxury of modern theaters: stadium seating, digital surround, clear visuals, etc. The rooms are huge with plenty of seats, and it's usually empty enough that you can enjoy yourself without putting up with obnoxious teenagers; however, all bets are off during blockbuster premiers.
The staff is incredibly friendly; I wish they had a tip jar just so that I could reward their enthusiasm and speed. The facilities are clean, and barring prices there is nothing about the theater that bothers me.
Sometimes my girlfriend and I travel over the 17 from Santa Cruz just so that we can watch movies here in comfort. -
Review from Sir T.
Cupertino, CA
I'm a fan because this place has super clean bathrooms. No really, I am.
Other than that fact, I like how its never too crowded and I never have to sit through 20 longg minutes of previews for a good seat up.
The downside of this is that occasionally you'll encounter a teenage couple having a massive make-out session RIGHT in front of you, even if the theater room is 75% empty. Happened to me twice. When I came out, I was confused whether I saw an action thriller or some sappy romance. Geez.
Also, the emptiness makes you feel conscious that for some reason, maybe your movie choice isn't so great after all...maybe you wasted $10.95 on a possibly C-rated movie on the second day it came out.
If you ever find a "dislike" option on Facebook, it probably was developed by me - despite my engineering-challenged self - but somehow I probably forced skils out of my brain after encountering AMC 16's prices. Sheesh. $10.95 a ticket and I'm a student. They DO have discounted matinee shows, but sorry I prefer to enjoy the movie at night, just when it's right.
And the popcorn? Grossly large - sizewise and pricewise. (I swear there is this $30 "food" option which includes some drinks, popcorn, hotdog/pizza/what-ever.)
Anyways...
Oh. So I guess you're wondering about the bathrooms. Well, they are spotless, they have these cool Hollywood-like mirrors, and sometimes, I stay there an extra minute in if the music is really cool. (shhh) -
Review from Jane S.
San Jose, CA
This is not my regular theater, as I've only been to see one movie here, which was a disastrous experience. The theater itself was perfectly fine but the clientele ruined the experience. If you want to go for a movie that might attract families with kids, but you yourself aren't going there with kids--just go elsewhere!
The theater itself is very nice--clean, up-to-date, spacious. The chairs were comfy and the screen was decently big. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a fine cinema for non-childrens-movies.
We'd gone for a 7:30 showing of TinTin and chose this cinema because it was one of the few in the area showing the regular (non-3D) version. I knew that there would be plenty of families and kids at the movie, so I wasn't expecting as peaceful of a watching experience as I get at my regular cinema, where it's mostly college students and older. However, the people watching the movie were more rude, inconsiderate, and had less regard for the people around them than I ever could have imagined! There were screaming babies, toddlers who talked through the entire movie, and surly 20-something-year olds who grabbed 10 seats for their friends even though there were only two of them there for 15 minutes before the film started. The worst was a three year old child, one row behind us and four or five seats over, who talked loudly through the entire film. His parents didn't tell him to be quiet, and--worst of all--NO ONE sitting next to them, in front of them, or behind them asked them to keep it down. We could hear the child clearly several seats away, but we would have had to shout down the row to tell them to keep it down, and it was so disappointing to see that this cinema attracts people so rude that they would allow their family to ruin a movie like that and everyone else would just take it like that and not say anything. Going to the movies is not cheap these days--at $25 for two people, we shelled out a lot of money to ultimately sit around for two hours and listen to a child talk over the movie and ruin the experience.
Overall, an incredibly disappointing experience. I would not recommend going to this theater if there's a chance there will be families with kids in your movie and you're not going with kids yourself. It was unbelievable how rude the people watching this movie were. The AMC itself is nice but the people there ruin the experience. -
Review from Andrew D.
This theater is my first choice I look into when wanting to watch a movie. It's clean, spacious and IMAX 3D ready. All their seats are pleather (artificial leather) covered and the armrest can be pushed up. Not only that, all their seats can lean back! Most theaters will either have one or the other, but not both.
Crowd consist of mostly teenagers and young adults. Staffs are helpful and sometimes friendly. They also got Cold Stone and Cinnabon right next to the ticket counter outside the theater if you have a sweet tooth. Inside, you have your typical popcorn, soda, hotdog, pizza, etc..,
Great theater to watch that new movie in IMAX that just came out. -
Review from Eli Y.
Don't be put off by the crappy mall, the theater is great!
I love movies. This means I go to the movies a lot and I get to sample different theaters. It pisses my wallet off, but I stopped listening to my wallet a long time ago.
This theater is a great place to catch a movie. It has multiple screens and an "IMAX." It's not a legit IMAX so if you're trying to watch "Avatar 2: Rise of the Smurfs," I might go elsewhere.
The theater never gets too packed, unless Harry Potter or something of that nature is coming out. It's also probably the best theater for a midnight showing. Most theaters make you wait outside, but here you can wait inside of the mall, so you won't get cold.
It has a little arcade...that is kind of falling apart and no one ever uses. But at least they tried.
All in all, if you want to see a movie, this is a great place to do so.Listed in: Let's have some fun., Is it a Theater or Theatre?
