I've been here multiple times, and I've never had a problem with the theatre or the staff. In fact, the last time I was here, I had an issue getting a refund for my tickets, and they were very helpful. They also provided me with a free ticket to compensate for the difference in ticket prices.

Their popcorn is okay. I've had better, BUT it's movie popcorn... what do you expect. They have decent auditoriums, and their bathrooms are pretty clean.

Really... what more can you ask for?

They have a lot of theaters which is good during blockbuster season. Never a shortage of screens.

It's relatively clean here, but far from pristine. Your feet won't stick to the floor like at Newport Mall Theaters. The theater seats are in pretty good shape, and comfortable.

I would say this though. I would limit my movie viewing here to early shows during the day. I don't think I'd be very happy here on a Friday or Saturday night. The crowds were definitely not what I expected.

I have never encountered any problems here. I usually attend children's movies so I haven't really encountered any problems with loud or rude people, just young kids talking , but that is expected. . I am usually here for early show times and it's relatively calm.

I know they used to have Clifton PD working here on weekend nights.
I think the rude behavior goes on at a lot of movie theaters these days. It's unfortunate that you can't enjoy the movie considering the prices.

I would say avoid going on weekend nights, it's definitely louder and always crowded.

Man this place sucks @$$.  I mean I know it's not their fault, but the low lifes that go there are unreal.  I just got out of MI Impossible 4 IMAX ($16.50/ticket).  Some jack@$$ felt the need to talk on his cell phone or to his chubby g/f or whatever almost the entire freaking movie.  I guess a friendly "be quiet" or "do you mind" wasn't enough.

Frustrating.  It's no wonder we don't go to see our fav movies more often.

Hollywood can thank people like from keeping people like us from attending more often.

Pretty clean and comfortable seating.  Not the theaters fault, but there seems to be more obnoxious, rude, and inconsiderate butt-heads each and every time we go here, compared to similar theaters in the area.  Just an FYI!

The AMC offers nothing in the aesthetics department.  It shows lots of movies, lots of times.  Sweet, cruel efficiency.

Prices are terrible, at least $12 a pop for movies.  Food is expensive too.

A nice bonus is the arcade located in the front end.  There is also a lot of parking but don't be surprised when it fills up at prime movie time.

I like this theatre. But it's very crowded and a hang out on the weekends. It also is the most expensive in the area. Theaters have stadium seating. Sound is whopping with intense sub woofers. Cleaned thoroughly after each showing. What's nice is there is Barnes & Noble, Applebees and Chevys within walking distance. So after the movie you have somewhere/something else to do. GO THERE!

Run of the mill theatre with stadium seating. The theatre does everything you expect a theatre to do, gouge you on food and drink, charge you over 11 bucks for a ticket, and be assured to have tons of people talking and using cell phones throughout the movie.

What I do like that they have is the automated ticket kiosks. That way I can bypass the families bringing their 10 year olds to rated R movies.

Another standout is the terrible parking. This mall is super busy and difficult to park in.

Basic seating, nothing comfy here.  I snook into an afternoon movie, the man in the ticket booth who looked like he had just been released from Oz only able to give me briefest of info about each film so I settled on the Thing, ..'nuff said.

Never have a birthday party here. The worst ever!  I ordered the pizza for 11 am and it was brought to the room at 11: 40. We were in the movie already so the pizza was cold after we got out of the movie. Only gave me 11 pizzas instead of 15 and only gave me 2 pitchers instead of 3. The kids packs I ordered came 15 minutes after the movie started. Asked for a discount and got the answer of, we don't give discounts. That's BS. The other party in the same movie had the same issue. NEVER have a birthday party here, EVER.

its a pretty decent size with quite a few theaters inside.  The theaters are often dirty by the end of the night. The employees don't really clean between showings. I've spent many a nights walking in wondering what just got stuck to my shoe.

Also, there is quite a crowd on the weekends, and not just for the movies.  Apparently, its a reck room for teenagers to hang out outside and be obnoxious when they aren't swarming the Barnes & Noble just a few steps away (so much so that the cops have become a staple in the parking lot most friday & saturday nights).

The theater is in a great location, in the CLIFTON COMMONS, so there is tons to do while you are waiting for your movie or to grab a bite to eat before you go to the movie or a drink after ;)

Are you looking for a movie theater to take your screaming four-year-old to at one o'clock in the morning? Does your ideal theater allow cell phone conversations continually throughout the movie? Do you enjoy watching films in sub-zero temperatures?

If you've said "yes" to any of these questions, then AMC Clifton Commons is for you. It is the absolute WORST place to see a film. Because of all the fights and other nonsense, cops are stationed outside basically 24-7--and YES, this is the theater at which Giants receiver Tim Carter was carjacked.

I stay far away from this joint. Located in a great area, the clowns who come in via bus from less desirable areas ruin a great place. Young HS kids causing trouble, talking during the movie and just making a great area a place to avoid. The theatre is near Shannon Rose which I highly recommend because they avoid that place (and are too young to drink...ha).
Clifton PD does their best to keep the place safe but they cannot be everywhere at the same time. Kudos to the CPD!

    Ugghhh.  Let me repeat.  Ugghhh.

    It's an ugly sight.
    It's the facts of life.

There are too many damn kids running around here and they teenage parents act like they own the joint cuz they be like..yo they be comin' down here EVERY Friday or Saturday night fo' all the hottest new releases cuz they ain't got no fama-tee members to watch over dem so dis is da oNLee wayz to sHut deM kidz up.

So their pain is our pain.

"Hey, can't we just go to another nearby movie theater for better times?"
"No," my Jerseyian friend replied. "It doesn't work that way here like it does in California."
"I miss California," I remark, reminiscing at the number of options back home.
    "I do too," she said.
    "Ugghhh," I silently breathed.

There are better AMC Theaters out there though, which usually don't disappoint.  In fact, I prefer AMC over Loews, Regal, Edwards and so on.  Weekdays and matinee times might be your best bet overall.

This AMC location may be just as annoying as Rachel Ray who always seems to define her trademark word EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) on every single talk show or cooking demonstration.

As soon as we walked in the lobby for our 10:10p show, there was an unbelievable mess of people.  Do yourself a favor and if you accidentally find yourself stuck here and you have tickets in hand, push your way through to the back.  The chaos is made up of people hanging out and people waiting in "line" for the concessions.

Inside, the floors were fairly clean (= not sticky), the headrests are lower than I thought, and the air was stuffy and warm.  The few things here that were ok, were the film itself and a few hilarious people who added a couple gut-busting lines to what was already a pretty funny flick.

Gotta give it up to these NJ movie-watchers who want you to experience it all.  Unfortunately, you have to take the bad with the good.

It's a movie theatre at an overblown strip mall near towns where there isn't much for teenagers to do away from adults, so of course it's inundated on the weekends.  Dangerous?  Umm, no, not really, but I can see how it might look that way from another perspective.

Happily, I don't share that perspective and I don't catch movies on the weekend all that much anymore, so for Wednesday night early shows, this is as good a place as any.  Stadium seating, relatively clean, always a good playlist, sound is loud and more or less balanced, what else is there you need?  A bouncer?  Cell phone jamming?

Please.  If you need solitude and protected viewing, rent a hotel room at the Hilton in Short Hills and see the same movies for $11.99.  Yeah, it's a $300/ night room, but hey, you're worth it.

This place can get PACKED! You have to go early to get parking Fri/Sat nights.   It is next to two restaurants - so if you grab an early dinner and just walk over you're in good shape.

Clifton Commons is my go to theater now that AMC Essex Green has changed. When I only want to see a movie without having food as well I'll come here. Clifton Commons is good and bad. It's good because it's big and has many theaters and has ALL of the major movies playing (and a few of the non majors, but no independant films). It's bad because it's horrendously crowded and a teenaged hang out spot on Friday and Saturday nights. If you go on a weekend, get your tickets in advance (preferably the day before) because you WILL be on line for AT LEAST an hour and in many cases that will make you miss a good portion of your movie. Dealing with the kids is a whole other issue. It's like parents want to get rid of them so they dump them off at the movies. They're loud during the movie, and run through the halls and act like fools but didn't we all do that when we were teenagers (how can I talk when I'm only 19 lol). I do suggest going to a morning movie though. Movies before 12 are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper (about $6.00) and it's normally an older, quieter crowd which is better for me. Overall I will continue to go here when I just want to see a movie, but will always get my tickets the day before.

Always filled with teenagers, even during the school week. I guess these kids don't go to school.

Everyone loves to talk on their phones, have them on the loudest ring, loudest text, and lousdest 2-way.  It's horrible.

People all talk loudly to one another, not usually in English.

There is always a long line, pay on the auto-mated machines if possible. They aren't the cleanest of theaters or facilities.

if you want the annoying, teenage girls with short-shorts from the Barnes and Noble nearby to make it more obvious that they're checking you out.. this is it right here.

the best is, watching Paranormal Activity and hearing some of the truly awesome comments of the audience such as "Nice boobs!"

okay, they're saying what we're all thinking, but.. if you're on a date, you get to showcase how mature you are by not laughing, and if you're a father with kids, you have another reason to apply for a gun permit so you can officially end your life

This theater is mediocre at best. For one, parking is terrible. Two, this theater is almost NEVER CLEANED. Three, don't expect to get good seats on a weekend if you show up any later than half an hour early.

The biggest problem, I believe, is that there are 16 screens and they're all cramped together in a relatively small space. So, while there's stadium seating in even the smallest, expect to elbow your way through crowds if you go on the weekend.

I haven't been to this theater  since I saw "Monsters, Inc" when it was a General Cinema. Since being bought my AMC, the Clifton Commons theater has been a target of crime, theft, and rowdiness. At least they were one of the first AMCs to get digital 3D before Rockaway did.

I like it because it's close to where I live, has a lot of large screens, and the seating is very nice.  They sometimes have special event type screenings which is really great.

there's a lot I don't like, though.  Mainly, the other patrons in this theater make watching most movies very unpleasant.  About 9 times out of ten, I've had my experience ruined by screaming babies (in R rated films...  late at night...), people talking/texting, children kicking seats, and teenagers being obnoxious.  The staff is very slow (plan extra time to buy your tickets and snacks).  Sometimes the theaters are also very dirty (drinks and food on the floor and seats from the previous screening).  Recently, I was watching a movie when fire alarms went off, and the staff was extremeley disorganized.  They didn't seem to know where people should go, or really what to do, and in fact a lot of the staff seemed to have vanished entirely.  I thought places like this would have procedures in place and I was a little disturbed that the staff had so little training regarding emergency scenarios.

Now that Columbia Park (1-495 and Kennedy Blvd. 3.5% sales-tax plaza) is playing first runs, and with options at Harmon Meadows in Secaucus, Edgewater (best recommended), and Garden State Plaza in Paramus, I can't imagine why anyone would ever put up with this place who wasn't in that very particular group which wants to be see and be seen at Clifton Commons.
