Review from Adam C.
Cumming, GA
As theaters go, this is definitely one of the nicer ones. No gum on the floor, the popcorn gets swept up between shows, and the sound system is excellent. Best of all the staff is friendly and helpful. This is especially surprising given that they're mostly high schoolers (or close enough).
I don't know what they put in the popcorn the must force-feed them in the employee troughs in the back (warning: rampant speculation on my part) but whatever is in it turns what must be surly, anxiety prone teenagers into helpful, kind, productive members of society. Do they get everything right the first time? 90% of the time, and the other 10 they ask for help. Let me say that again, if they don't know what they're doing, they ask. for. help. OMGWTFBBQ!~ And here's the kicker... someone helps them! It's like we've stepped into an alternate dimension of customer service. No other AMC in the history of time has ever had such exceptional help! Seriously, this must be some alternate dimension theater. So if you enter, watch a movie, and then exit only to see a green sky with three moons, you've been warned.
tl;dr - Surprisingly excellent staff. Also, movies. -

My review is of the IMAX portion of this location. I saw the Avengers here (which I thought was great and the Hulk also had the best "no-liner's BTW).
But I waqs extremely dissappointed with the IMAX 3D. It was really small. When you've been to an IMAX at the Mall of Georgia you can see a huge difference - literally. The screen itself is so small in comparison and not worth the extra money. If you really want to see IMAX take the trip to the Mall of Gergia, it's worth the extra drive in comparison.
Overall this is a nice movie theater for the area. Clean, large, a little tough to park due to the "outdoor shopping" setup but overall nice. I just wouldn't pay the extra for the IMAX. -

I'm an avid movie goer. I go so much I have a budget for it. Its only right I give these theaters the reviews they deserve. I traveled to go to this theater. That's only because I'm on a mission to find my favorite theater and this one close to what I expect, not there but close.
What I like.... Most everything except what I don't like. It has stadium seating. Some of the theaters are smaller than you'd think. The seem put together. Even have a rewards card.
What I don't like:
The location, it's a hike to get there unless you leave near there, but worth it if you have the time and if you want to go early you can do some shopping there are many stores and restaurants around it.
The Mall feel... in the summer (while I love ya'll) there are endless teenagers hanging out, just to hang. Sigh... what happened to summer jobs and camp.
The selection of goodies. Time to step your game up. Other people have moved away from just popcorn and basic candy. And even if you just do those maybe you can add some variety to the candy if you really expect us to purchase it. -

I love this theater! Very clean and everyone is very friendly. Overpriced but I would rather pay more for a good experience.
I would suggest you try this theater and there is a lot of shopping around as well! -

I've always thought Forsyth could support another theater. The only one in the entire county was an older place that had more rednecks than a Dukes of Hazzard convention. So it is nice to see a new joint open up snooty South Forsyth.
This place is not much different than any other theater. A few little things stand out. They offer free refills on large drinks and pop corn. I usually pass on the $4.75 cokes, but I decided to give my kidneys a workout on this night. Still don't think I got my money's worth, but I did get a refill or two. But along with this comes frequent visits to the men's room. They only have one men's room in the entire theater. As it happened to me, that was on the other side of the lobby from my screen. That's a pet peeve of mine. I would rather have several smaller bathrooms all over the place so you can sneak out, take a leak, and get back to the show quickly. Otherwise you gotta have the right screen location to match your gender. I wasn't so lucky.
But all in all, a decent place to see a show, with lots of after movie things to do here in the Avenue Forsyth. You're within walking distance of several restaurants, bars, coffee shops, ice cream joints, etc. So if you'll excuse me, I'll end my review now. I gotta piss. -

I was pleasantly surprised to know that select AMC theaters offers $1 movies just for young kids and babies. $1 movies from June 17 - August 5, Summer Movie Camp, for charity.

This really is good to know for parents who have young ones. We saw tons of kids, babies, strollers... and it was great that no one would curse you out b/c of the screaming baby. I for one will not bring a baby to a movie. That is common sense.
But this time I felt like I belong there!
The theater is very clean, stadium seating, the seat/chair actually can tilt a little bit, not much but very comfy cushion for my tush. :D
Service at the concession counter was also good, very nice attitude considering tons of kids running/jumping/screaming around.
Very happy about AMC's marketing style, from now on we will definitely go see movies together as a family! $1 deal is cool too. -

You can bring your own food!!! They said as long as you don't bring anything distracting, like overly smelly or noisy (loud wrappers or something) you're good. What more do you need to know? I still feel like this policy is too good to be true, and I still feel the need to call ahead and make sure this is true before i go. It's so nice when businesses do something to make their customers happy, isn't it?
It can get a bit crowded, but not as bad as others around here. The seats are really nice. -

I don't think I've experienced a friendlier theater staff than the folks at AMC Avenue Forsyth.
The concession staff was helpful and allowed me to double up some coupons I redeemed. Ushers joked with us as we waited for the movie.
This theater was clean--no sticky floors--and queue lines were organized for the latest anticipated blockbuster of the weekend. -

Nicest theatre in Forsyth County and Alpharetta. Full stadium seating, screens are decent sized and sound quality was fine.
They've just opened an IMAX theatre but we haven't tried that yet. -

Quite possibly one of the most comfortable theatres I've ever been to. Probably because it's pretty new, but those seats were damn comfortable!

I was so happy to see this place open! The only alternatives were, as was pointed out earlier - more like Relics and Rednecks (as opposed to Fork and Screen).
This place has 12 good theaters, stadium seating, is clean, easy to buy tickets (counter or automated machines or http://movies.com). The staff is good here, and as soon as they see the lines at concessions building, they open a new register.
No complaints here. -

AMC Avenue, I heart you! This is the thing that makes me miss living in Cumming, GA. It may be attributed to the fact that its new, but I just love how clean it is, how much bigger the screens our and their super comfy seats. Since I have crappy movie theaters in Roswell, I might just have to drive down over here when I watch movies.

Undoubtedly one of the nicest movie theaters in Atlanta. State of the art sound, seating, screens, etc. You name it, this theater has it. Plus, they recently added an IMAX theater to their repertoire. If you want to have a fantastic movie going experience, the AMC at The Avenue is the place to do it.

I frequent this theater. Customer service is great, staff is friendly and courteous. Bathroom is always clean. Stadium seating is very nice. The rocking seats are very comfortable even the arms raise up (so you can cuddle). The ailses between seats are nice and wide so you dont even have to get up to let someone pass. Food is like any theater food. But if you get large popcorn and large drink, there is free refills.

Roswell, GA
Absolutely awesome movie theater. A little more expensive than others, but the place is spotless, the screens are all digital HD, and the staff are friendly and outgoing and don't have the usual parking-lot carnie attitude we find a lot of other places (even upscale ones).

Terrible customer service.
ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE INCOMPETENT "MANAGEMENT" THAT IS UNABLE TO RESOLVE ISSUES.
They overbooked the movie. We purchased tickets online, well in advance. We entered the movie 15min in advance. The girl tried to find us some seats, but none were available other than some that were "reserved" by other guests.
When we were taken to guest services, the next showing was an hour later for an IMAX version. They refused to give us these tickets. They wanted us to sit around for three hours for the next showing on the regular screen.
When asked to speak to her manager, she said she was the manager. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said there was no supervisor.

As far as theaters go this is DEFINITELY one of my favorites. Its clean, spacious, a tad bit pricey, but sometimes you pay for what you get. My brother went here by himself one evening & accidentally left his beanie in the chair beside him, we went back several days (maybe even a week later) & the friendly staff had not only found it, but kept it to the side for him.

The only way to be able to afford going to the movies anymore is if you have an AMC Movie Watcher card! Yes, I know ... sounds dorky huh? But don't be fooled, I get discounts left and right when I purchase my ticket and my friends ticket and get the bonus points! She/He/They buy the popcorn and drink (since it costs the same these days) to compensate.
Obviously everything is new, so things smell good and look pretty...
All of the theaters are large and have very comfortable seating (in comparison to the Mansell AMC).
My only suggestions:
Along with Jason B's comment... it's annoying to pull up to a movie theater in 28 degree weather and to have not purchased my tickets from that -you-know-annoying-dangowango-website - to see a line of 80 people! I beg you, AMC, please invest in the electronic vendors so that people like me who are techies and will bypass all others in line still making up their minds!!!
Train the employees behind the refreshment counters to be a little more swift. I can't tell you how long it takes some of these people to just grab a prefilled popcorn bag and fill a coke cup! I will give them credit as the drinks and popcorn are always fresh (hey..maybe not straight up 5-minutes ago popped but close enough). They are also willing to exchange fresh popcorn if you get just "warm" popcorn.. trust me I've asked a few times during the daylight hours when I know it's been sitting there for a good hour.
My friend and I saw Dark Knight here a couple of months ago and the power went out throughout the entire Avenues for about five minutes so part of the movie was replayed for about ten minutes. I obviously didn't mind because the movie was great, but to make the situation better as we left the show the manager told us to stop at guest services and pick up a free small popcorn, free small coke and a free movie pass for the inconvenience!!! That's the way to treat customers!!! -

I am an avid movie goer and love that this one finally opened up so that I don't have to drive down to Mansell or North Point to go to an old theater at that. The seats smell and feel like new as well as the rest of the theater. Very large screens and the system is great. The only downfall is how busy it has been but that should let up once school is back in. Frickin yuppies!

This is a very new and nice theater that is a great alternative to the old, grimy seats and atmosphere at the Northpoint area theaters. The staff is strict, but professional (don't try to sneak into an R-rated movie here, kids!). The screens are very clear and pristine, unlike older cinemas. Definitely one of my favorites in the north atlanta area!
