The true testament to a great business is one that goes above and beyond what is considered the norm or expected. AMC did that for me! I went to go see The Avengers at one of the busiest time (probably all year) for theaters in general, Saturday, opening weekend at 7pm.

There were tons of people but AMC handled it very well. There were line ropes already set up. The concession stands were fully staffed and even though the lines were long they were really pushing people through as quickly as possible while still being nice. After watching the movie, two employees handed out mints to everyone. How cool is that!  The entire place was very clean, including the theater/bathroom/lobby (don't you hate it when the floors are sticky and crummy yuck!).

The other thing I love about this AMC location is that they have the temperature perfectly set. I've been to other places where I thought I would literally freeze to death, and some that don't even seem to have air!

Back at Altamonte AMC. Seriously, I can't believe this is the first time I've reviewing this place as I've been here 30 gazillion times.

Took a date to see What to Expect When You're Expecting. (not so great, by the way) Not a chick flick guy.

Great theatre in downtown Altamonte and close to my house. I really, really, really wish this theatre would add mixed drinks and beer like the one at Universal and downtown.

All in all, a good place to catch a flick.(go see Avengers in 3D and IMAX by the way; well worth the extra price of the ticket)

Its a great theater with wounderful seats as everyone else mentions. The screens are huge, there is great sound.

Parking is a hassle if you get there before 6pm.

Tons of restruants nearby if you wanna eat before or after, even an ice cream shop. Perfect theater for dates.

One of my favorite movie theaters. Very friendly staff. Competitive prices on both tickets and concessions. Big theaters, comfy seats, and arm rests that go up... oooh la la ;) Always rather cold though so bring a jacket if you get cold easy. And they are strict on age limits. No sneaking into R rated movies here.

It's a movie theater. It's pretty big. I like it more than the one in Winter Park. I also like it because it's at the mall. I lovingly gaze over at Ulta as I pass by. That's all there is to it!

A really nice theater to come to if you're in the area!

It was built just a couple of years ago so everything is still fairly new and clean. The theaters are huge and have stadium seating. The seats are very comfy and even lean back some.

Since it's located just steps from the Altamonte Mall, it does get crowded during the weekend and with new movie releases.

AMC offers a reward program so make sure to sign up for that if you come here frequently!

The AMC Altamonte Mall 18 is not usually our #1 choice when we want to go out and watch a movie, but we are fans.  The chairs are comfortable and the whole place is clean.  Good location right there connected to the Altamonte Mall.  The tickets and concessions are expensive, but what theater isn't?  All in all, it's a pretty good spot to see a movie and we can't complain.

If I'm doing a movie on date night, I'm coming here, except maybe on Friday or Saturday evenings - too many teeny-boppers hanging around. Otherwise, this is my fav theater.

Theaters and seats are spacious. And I love that the arm rest can be lifted. My beau and I like to snuggle while watching movies (or stretch out when the theater isn't packed).

This theater definitely gets packed when it comes to new movies coming out. I typically wait about 2 weeks to go see them.

Like all theaters the concession stand food prices are INSANELY HIGH! I love how a date night at the movie now sets you back about $100. But they do offer a perks card that can get you a free ticket every now and again.

A wonderful clean theater with a great speaker system. Like the other reviews said, try to avoid Friday and Saturday due to influx of cool high school nimrods. My only gripe is that the "IMAX" is not a true imax screen. If you want true imax I recommend point orlando.

I love this theater for several reasons. See below...

    * Clean theaters and restrooms.
    * Lots of parking...lot in front, as well as two parking garages, one on each side of the theater.
    * Right next door to the mall and Crane's Roost...which is a bonus if you want to add shopping, dinner or enjoying a walk around the lake before or after your movie.
    * Very friendly staff...from the ticket counter to refreshment stand.
    * I love the kiosks you can use o pick up or purchase tickets. Keep you from having to wait in long lines.
    * They offer IMAX...bonus.

Overall...every time I'm in Orlando, you'll see me here, at least once. Go check them out!!

My go-to theater. My escape from the sweltering summer heat. My hang out spot with my nephew since he was 9.

Really like it here. The handicapped accessibility is fantastic-even the bathrooms. Which I complained about the uncleanliness once to a manager, and since then, no issues at all.

I always get concessions-soda, perfect popcorn, candy, nachos. All priced exactly what you'd expect at any 1st run theater.

The AMC Movie Watcher is ending and being replaced by AMC Stubs. It's $12. per year, online ticket purchase fees are waived on http://movietickets.com and http://fandango.com, free upgrades on popcorn and fountain drinks, $10 AMC Stubs Reward for every $100 you spend at AMC Theatres (including purchases made on tickets, concessions, gift cards, and an online ticket stub collection.

If you're a Movie Watcher member now, you should be getting a coupon you can take to the theater for half price 1st year AMC Stubs membership. Or just go to their website https://www.amcstubs.com/ and enter your Movie Watcher card #  when you sign up to get the half off online.

Birthday coupon for free drink or popcorn e-mailed to AMC Stubs users.

"Can I buy Lord Of the Ring for June 14th, 21st, and 28th?"

''Sure, that'll be $37.50 for all of these showings at 7 pm"

AMC automatically gets my vote for showing LOTR in the theater again.

I can hardly contain my excitement, I can't wait to get all the buttery popcorn stuck in my Gandalf's beard!!

This theater has some of the grossest bathrooms I have ever stepped foot in.

If you go to a late night movie, and it's one of the last showings, it will not matter to them how many people are left in the building or how many movies aren't done yet - they do not clean the bathrooms.

It is beyond me how they even GET that dirty. It must mean there is no maintenance during the day/evening.  Maybe there's just a once over in the mornings and good luck to everyone for the next 12 to 16 hours? Or maybe it's a social-psychological experiment to see what girls will wade through to pee? Or maybe they're doing some sort of carbon dating...?  I don't know, and I don't care.

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because it's so close to my house that I know I'll be back. But because of the state of their bathrooms, I will never order a drink - it's just not worth the absolute filth and wretchedness I would have to endure by stepping foot into the bathroom.

*Edit: I wish I could say this review came from a one time experience, but I live about 1 mile away from this theater, so it comes from about my last 10 experiences. But I do agree with everyone else that the lobby and outside are generally clean.

I've spent many a midnight opening nights here, and I'm still not tired of this movie theater. They have several of the bigger theaters for new releases, but even their smaller ones aren't as small as other theaters (e.g. Regal Winter Park Village).

When you see a 3D movie (what isn't anymore?), they give you these awesome glasses that fit better than those ghetto yellow ones that sit awkwardly on your face. They also fit almost like your sunglasses should, so even your peripheral vision is covered.

I also appreciate the garage parking especially when it's ridiculously hot and you really don't want to return to an oven.

My only gripe is that their IMAX is not your real IMAX. They call it "IMAX Experience". Yes, the screen is slightly bigger, but it's really not that much bigger. It's not like the IMAX screen down at Pointe Orlando, which is A TON bigger and make you feel like you're about to fall into the movie itself. And considering the price difference isn't much, I'd rather make the drive down to Pointe Orlando and shell out just a couple more bucks to experience a better IMAX screen.

Bottomline, though, it's a movie theater, so there's really nothing new, different, or special about this. You have the few arcade games in the front. Concession stand has ridiculous prices. The seats are decent, sound is good, screens are good, blah blah blah. It's a movie theater.

A comfortable, clean theater to watch a movie. The popcorn is fresh and I like the fact that you do your own butter. They have a few of the digital threaters which really do make a difference. It gets pluses for location too.

A few downsides... on weekend nights it is usually so packed that parking can be a real pain. The flow in the parking lot sucks. Also, as with many theaters, there are a ton of preteens loitering around, screaming, running around, etc. Kinda annoying. I guess with the mall right next door they all just wander over after it closes.

I normally never go all the way up to Altamonte for an advance screening of a movie.  But I did last night to see Unstoppable.  I haven't been to this theater in years.  As I drove up, I realized that it's not the same old theater!  It looks brand new (even though I have no idea how long it's been there).

As soon as I walked up, I could see it would be a nice place to see movies at on a regular basis if I lived closer.  Outside they had plenty of self serve ticket machines.  Most theaters keep them inside, so you don't even think of using them.

The lobby looked very nice and everything was very clean.  And my friend and I both commented on how comfy the seats were.  Probably the best I've been in in Orlando.

What a really nice, updated movie threatre!  Everything is clean, updated and sleek looking.  The concession stands offer a variety of choices!  The bathrooms were large and clean!

Tickets and concession items are a little on the pricier side, but in my opinion all movie theatres are expensive these days.  To me, the beauty of going to the movies is for the "theatre" experience.

The seating is plush, stadium seating which adds to the comfort of the place.  Overall I enjoyed this theatre a lot!  Can't wait to go back!

Right next to the Altamonte Mall is one of the best cinemas in Orlando. It is one of the newest cinemas in Orlando, offering 18 screens.

All the theaters here have stadium seating, excellent sound systems (DTS and Dolby Digital Sound), Couple seats and a massive concessions stand.

This is a great place to watch a movie if you want to spend sometime after shopping or eating at the mall.

Another one of my frequently visited theaters. Above average in quality of film and sound. I've never been disappointed with a visit to this place as the seats are comfy and experience is fine. Being that it's right next to the Altamonte Mall this place gets jam packed busy during the evenings. Even with the constant stream of movie viewers going through this place the upkeep has been great. For those in the North Central Florida this is a must visit theater. With the wide selection of films and comfy seats this place is rated G for all ages.

First of all, the IMAX Rocks!!!!  If there is a movie you are wanting to see and it's available in the IMAX theatre, pay the extra few bucks and see it in IMAX; It totally blows a regular theatre off the map!

The theatre was very clean and the seats are plush and comfy.  Whoever came up with the idea for the arms to raise is a genius; it's so nice to be able to cuddle with the Hubby while watching a movie without the annoying armrest in the way!

If you don't already have an AMC Movie Watcher Card, I highly recommend you get one asap!  I'm proud to say I've had mine since they first came out circa 1997/1998.  You hand it to them whenever you purchase your tickets and they scan it; you then receive points.  The points add up and you get free popcorn, free drinks, free movies, and even a free "night at the movies" which includes ticket, popcorn, and drink.

We have visited many other theatres, but AMC still ranks as my favorite when I want to catch a movie!

I rarely go out to see movies in the theater since the prices have gotten so high, and this AMC is no exception. After going on a Saturday night and finding out I could only get a student discount on Thursday (what if I have class Thursday??) I didn't think I'd be back. Although, someone gave me an AMC gift card and I figured one more trip wouldn't hurt.

The parking is crowded but it's a nice location in between the mall and Crane's Roost. I personally don't mind parking far away, especially if I'm about to sit for about 2 hours. The inside is clean, the stadium seating is very comfortable and the concession prices are the norm, i.e. ridiculous.

I think I'll stick with Winter Park Village.

Took in the last HP installment yesterday as a company event.  Today, it occurred to me that I've never yelped this or any other cinemas!  So while I'm not one to yelp anything that crosses my path just to bump up the count (as in, "Should I yelp that obstinate traffic light at the third intersection on my way to work?"), there's something that I REALLY love about AMC Altamonte 18 - COVERED PARKING.  I'll tell you right now that THAT is worth a star and a half in itself.  We're talking about Central Florida, folks.  EVERY business should take that into consideration when choosing sites or building a new establishment.  Can you offer shaded parking?  Cuz if the answer is 'yes', customers will choose you over a competitor.  Otherwise, this is just like any other cinema - pretty modern, very good sound/screen (haven't done a 3D yet), and reasonably clean bathrooms the times I've been.  On the negative side, obnoxious pricing for snacks and drinks.  But that is no worse or better than their competitors.

If you're rating the theatre itself and how good of a job they do, this place does a very good job.  The clean theatres and fresh snacks are offset by the terrible parking, the type of people that go there, and the amount of people that go there.  It's bad to generalize but it is fair to say that if you go on a weekend, you will find this place infested with wannabe gangsta middle schoolers.  The line can sometimes get out to the parking lot because all people do from 6th-10th grade it seems is go to movies.  The employees are okay. I just love the seating, the air conditioning always works, the movies rarely lose sound or picture, and the size is great.  But, I usually avoid coming here because of how packed it is.  Years ago, I liked Altamonte Springs because there were far fewer people.  But, now with the building of Uptown Altamonte, the gentrification of Cranes Roost Park, the renovations on the mall, and the adding of this giant theatre, we have seen a population surge.  You can clearly tell the difference between now and a decade ago by the traffic and the amount of people hanging around the mall and the theatre.  The cozy Altamonte 8 theatre next door in the Renaissance Center was great for me.  I prefer the cozy and friendly Altamonte 8 theatre to this enormous packed powerhouse anyday.  Now, it sits defunct but filled with the spirit of the 90s.
