Completely wonderful facial- LOVE Diana's work!!! I was SO sad to hear about some of the "Groupon Customer" complaints, because I know this small business is hard-working, and they aim to please! They are professional, well trained and I always leave at peace with my needs met. I have waxing done, facials, and have had my make-up done. All were wonderful! I plan to have a spray tan done in the Spring- as a treat to myself. I encourage you to gift yourself an early Christmas gift, and try Ambiance! You won't be disappointed!

I called them to talk to their esthetician. I have a skin disorder and wanted to assess their level of expertise before spending money for a facial. I don't let anyone touch my face unless I feel comfortable with them and I needed to evaluate if they were knowledgeable enough that I could feel comfortable going to this salon for skin care.
I talked to receptionist who said the the esthetician would call me back. But she did not. Instead, the esthetician had the receptionist call me back and say that she was too busy to talk to me and if I had questions, I would have to book a facial to get them answered.
Enough said. -

I recently redeemed a Groupon that I had gotten for a micro-dermabrasion.
My Groupon was about to expire, but they were generous enough to extend the expiration date another week. Phew!
This was an amazing experience. I'd never gotten a micro-dermabrasion treatment before, and I hadn't had a facial in quite a while. Now I remember why I should remember to get one at least every now and then! Laura (my aesthetician) was friendly, knowledgeable, and comforting.
I received a facial, micro-dermabrasion, scalp/shoulder/arm massage, and hand treatment. What a great way to end my work week :)
Laura recommended a great product, based on my personal needs (Peter Thomas exfoliating pads) - and at a reasonable price, too!
I didn't book my next appt yet, because I wanted to see the results first... but from what I can tell so far with how great I feel, I'll probably be back. -

I love Meghan, I have been a regular client of hers for years now and she is the best, she gives the best facials and she makes my eyebrows beautiful always listening to my requests( I also get a clean wax with her, no bumps after or missed hairs)!! she is the best. I recently moved to chicago and I can't find anyone half as good as her out here, I will be scheduling an appt. with her on spring break!!
Do yourself a favor a go in for some pampering with meghan! -

Key Point: Would have loved to try this place but it didn't make a good first impression. I asked for a refund from Groupon today. I sure hope I get it. This is just my experience with this place. I hope yours is a lot better. Please read my e-mail to Groupon asking for a refund.
"I would like to request a refund for my Groupon. I had an appointment booked two months in advanced for a facial today. I want to point out; I requested time off of work for this appointment. I was extremely looking forward to this facial and heard good reviews. Today, I was extremely disappointed that it was cancelled. I received a phone call 30 minutes before my appointment that the girl "came down with something." I am grateful that they care for my well-being by not getting me sick but I do question the validity of that claim and the means to which they went about it. First and foremost, I do NOT appreciate being notified 30 minutes before the appointment arrival time of the cancellation. It is for lack of a better word rude. A time, place, and event was scheduled and for their service to cancel without more notification is concerning. They could give me the courtesy of an hour or two so I'm not rushing through traffic to get to cancelled appointment. Secondly, since I was her last appointment, did the sick employee do facials on all of her morning/afternoon customers and decide that she was too ill to perform her last one? One would assume she would have infected her customers in some way on that day. The only other reasoning I can think of... is that she only works from 5 pm to 6 pm - one hour shift. I've never heard of that but it could be. Unfortunately from my experience with this service, I would like to discontinue my Groupon and hope that I have fully expressed my concerns and the reasons as to why I feel entitled to it. Please advise if you are willing to fulfill my request. Your customer"
My honest honest opinion. This is an assumption because you know people can get sick but I think the girl wanted to leave early and thought that because I was a new customer and using a Groupon. I was less worthy than a regular person paying full price.
Let her wait an re-book.
Hate to be personal here but I work 11 hour shifts. I don't have all the time in the world. Hint: reason why I booked two months in advanced, so it can fit into my schedule. That just really bummed me out.
I've never heard of this Salon until Groupon and think it's a great way to attract new customers and have a strong regular client base. If the service was good, I would have come back but unfortunately did not happen. From reading other people's reviews, time conflict has happened before. -

Yes, I'm a guy, and yes, I've been going to Ambiance for a couple years now. Laura has always been a pleasure to work with. She's gentle (as gentle as waxing can be) and even turns up the air conditioning in advance when I'm coming. (I'm a sweaty guy.) It's the little touches like that which make me appreciate Ambiance. The personal touch here is what puts it above other waxing places.
Guys-- go for the nose waxing. It's painless. I know it seems like it would hurt, but I get my back and eye-brows waxed, and the nose is the least painful. In fact, it doesn't hurt at all.
It's a boutique shop, very cute, and very clean. The prices are reasonable, albeit slightly more expensive than your average place -- but like so many things in life, you pay for quality. And if you're looking for quality, this is the place. -

Quick and final update:
I had a 2:30 PM appointment for eyelash tinting and my Andy Rooney Brows to be waxed on the 30th; Diana was running late and waived the $40 for the brows and only charged me for the lashes @ $25 because I had to wait 45 minutes past my appointment.

Review from CoCo C.
Irvine, CA
I have very pale, freckled skin and I'm heading to a week long vacation in the Caribbean, so I wanted to give airbrush tanning a try.
I did a lot of research trying to find the right place (since I was rather apprehensive about how things may turn out). I called one place before Ambiance, but their staff was unable to confidently answer my questions. When I called Ambiance, they were responsive, friendly and knowledgeable. Based on the prices for this service that I found at other places in the area, I'd say that this salon is quite reasonable. My overall experience here was pleasant. I had no problem making appointments for the times and days that I desired. The service itself was quick, easy, friendly and attentive, and I am happy with the results.
As far as sunless tanning goes, I'd say that airbrush tanning is great when you need an all over color especially on hard to reach places like your back. I've had two airbrush tans at this salon now, and the overall result was a mostly even, healthy tone. I went really light the first time (since I was afraid of it looking orange on my pale skin) and just a bit darker the second time (which turned out great). There were of course a few spots that needed a little less or a little more color, but this was easily fixed: 1) The salon provides you with tanning wipes to use on your face and to blend any areas that turn out a bit irregular or too light (just be sure to protect your hands when you use them). 2) This may sound a bit odd, but I had to use nail polish remover on my knees, ankles and a few other spots that turned out too dark the second time to take down the color a bit.
My first tan lasted 7 days (with daily activities, working out and showering) and even then only peeled because I rubbed my skin instead of patted it after a shower that day. The tan didn't last as long on my second trip with all of the water activities and I'm not sure how much of a difference it made in photos.
If you're planning on getting an airbrush tan, I'd go ahead and give Ambiance a try, but don't forget to first read up on the Dos and Don'ts of airbrush tanning (exfoliate a day before, don't put lotion on the day of your appointment, wear loose clothing to your appointment, pat dry and keep skin well moisturized to lengthen its life, etc.). -

I would return to Ambiance however, $20 for my eyebrows seems like a lot. She suggested that I get my brows tinted. I never thought about it, but I have been told my eyebrows are pretty light. So, I'll think about that. I also like that she didn't use scissors on my brows. I've gotten my brows done at nail shops before and they totally cut my brows. I think it looks weird. And I've only ever had the nail ladies cut my brows. The last girl I went to never ever cut...so anyway.
Rita was the lady I went to and she was okay. On the plus side, she was quick and I was on my lunch break so the faster, the better. And my brows looked so much cleaner and nicer! But...for it being my first time there, I guess I was expecting super personality, which just might not be her! She did converse about how I found the place, etc and overall, she was nice.
I was greeted by a nice person and saw another lady who worked there that totally said hello and both were super friendly. But Rita was just "eh". And since I'm planning on going back because it's conveniently located by my work-walking distance-I think she could grow on me.
I limited my first experience at Ambiance to my brows. I'm really looking for a great place and person to wax my bikini area. I think I could handle returning in hopes that the service is just a tad bit more friendly. I like the decor and while you're waiting there's lots of fun and cute things to look at and potentially break your bank with. They carry the Bare Minerals line which is what I use so there is another plus.
The music was a little bit loud in the treatment room, but I think it's to drown out the fact that the walls are a little thin. The entire shop is a lot bigger then I expected and I look forward to my next wax! -

Since I'm too cheap to get a facial here, this review is for the boutique only.
It's cute. The decor is fun and there are all sorts of cutesy things to pamper yourself with.
It's friendly. The gal who works the floor is very nice, helpful, and tests makeup on me whenever I want.
It's kinda annoying. I asked if they carried a product and the response was "No we don't, but we have something better". Oooh, I like better, I think... and I buy it. I return a few months later, again asking for a specific product. The response, "No we don't have that, but we have something better". Hmmm, really. Is it better because it's $10 more than what I'm looking for, or because it's the only comparable product you have?
It's annoying. I wanted to buy a new eyebrow makeup. She tried it on me and it suited my liking, so I asked to buy it. They were out of stock. She gets my name and phone number and promises to call me when it came in 1 or 2 weeks later. I never got a call.
It's totally annoying. Four months later I NEEDED this eyebrow makeup, and used my day off to run such errands. It was a Wednesday afternoon, 1ish, all the lights were on, the sign said "OPEN", and the door was locked. No biggie, maybe she went to get lunch or something. I continue my errands, come back 45 minutes later, door still locked. Maybe there's only 1 person there, and she's giving a massage? Maybe they should put a sign on the door? I'm a little irked, and I call. No answer. I go get my nails done and keep calling. No answer. I go back an hour later... still no one there.
WTF?! Why say you're open, um, if you're not? I then drove my ass all the way to Sephora in Cerritos to get said eyebrow makeup (only to find out the next week it was sold at 2nd Street Beauty).
Anyway, I'm not mad at the joint, just pretty annoyed. I kinda liked it when doors were unlocked and I can buy what I need and they give me cool free samples and a cute reusable bag.
I might just fork out the dough and get a fancy schmancy facial and return for an update. Or I might not. -

I went here for my first sunless spray tan with Diana. She did an amazing job. I am very fair skinned. I only ever burn and freckle. The spray tan added color and it looks so natural. I plan on going back again in two weeks, right before my wedding. I can't wait to have a beautiful, and natural looking tan for my wedding day.
Thanks! -

4 stars for customer service, 2 stars for the quality of my spray tan. Maybe even 1 for the spray tan, actually.
I arrived about 40 minutes early for my spray tan appointment. There were two women behind the counter. One was engaged with a customer, the other didn't appear to be doing anything in particular. After several moments, the woman engaged with a customer looked over at me with an annoyed expression and said, "Someone will be right with you." Someone? How about the woman standing next to you behind the counter not doing much? I was helped after a while, and it turns out they couldn't see me early. No problem, but I was kind of surprised that there was no invitation to browse their shelves of skin creams (Word to the wise: big loss on a sale there, ladies. I LOVE lotions, potions, and such. I'll buy almost anything.), maybe wait a minute and see if Meghan gets done early. I left and came back 40 minutes later.
When I returned, I was greet by Meghan. I told her I had been there earlier, and she said it was too bad I didn't wait because we missed each other by about 10 minutes. Oi. Anyway, if this review were about Meghan's customer service alone, it would be 5 stars all the way. She's great, I highly recommend her for any service. She was easy to interact with, chatty, friendly, and fabulous. She was efficient, but didn't make me feel glossed over. Yay, Meghan!
Unfortunately, the quality of my spray tan was pretty low. I think Meghan did the best she could with the stuff. It's the kind you spray on and then have to rub in. It goes on pretty light and develops over several hours. Since you can't really see it when it goes it, all you can do is spread it around as evenly as possible. Meghan did. She was very thorough and I still ended up with a streaky ass tan. My thumbs are a chocolate color and there's a stripe running the length of my arm that's nearly pure white. Not cute! I'm going to try to exfoliate some of the stuff off and then try to blend my stripes with a drug store fake bake lotion.
I just think a $45 tan shouldn't require you to do this much follow-up.
Meghan did say that I could call her if anything started looking weird, but I don't have the time to go back and forth playing guessing games with another application. The event I got tanned for is in 2 days.
Will I return? Maybe. Micro-derm has been fascinating me for a while now. If I did go back, I'd definitely make my appointment with Meghan. -

On the advice of a friend, I booked a facial with Laura and I was really happy that I did! She was really friendly, nice and not afraid to do extractions. The place was really cute, clean and I was glad to go to support an independent business. I've already booked an appointment three weeks later!

I really really love this place. It's clean, it's cute and Meghan C. is a waxing goddess. She makes me feel comfortable and the time just flies by. I highly recommend Ambiance Skin Care for a good bikini (and beyond) wax - pricing is about the same as other places but I keep coming back because Meghan is great, the atmosphere is nice and the waxing lasts. I haven't had any other services but I plan to. Good selection of fun, fancy, high end products and gifts -always fun to browse. Pamper yourself sometime - it's worth it.

i was recommended ambiance by a friend, so i scheduled a facial with meghan. i'm an admitted tough customer, so i wasn't expecting much...
i was blown away. everyone there is SO nice. the staff know their clients like friends. the rooms are neat and clean. but the real treat was the facial itself.
meghan is an absolute genius. i've never had such a polished, relaxing facial in my life, and i've had countless (probably overpriced) facials. when it was over i literally almost fell because i was so relaxed. and i didn't even break out the next day or anything, which has happened in the past due to my sensitive skin/low quality products/bad technique.
long story short, i will definitely brave the long journey to long beach to see meghan again. she is professional, knowledgeable, and talented. well worth every penny. -

Hands down, the best facial I have ever had. Laura is amazing! She doesn't leave you in the room by yourself while you sit with your mask, instead she gives you a shoulder and hand massage and then puts these warm gloves on your hands.

Ahhhh, Ambiance.
I have been to this cute little spa a handful of times since it opened a few years ago. I wish I could go more often, though my visits are usually reserved for special occassions. I had received a birthday gift to go in for a scrub, and perfect timing, my over-stessed/under-rested body was begging for a little TLC.
The first thing one notices is the decor -- very stylish, with a black and white brocade theme repeated in the boutique and treatment rooms. Upon entering, I was offered a glass of cucumber water. After a few sips, Megan (my favorite technician) ushered me into her treatment room to change and prepare for my scrub. The room is very spacious, with soft lighting, soothing forest-type sounds, and a huge, comfortable table outfitted with warming pads. I am not exaggerating here -- from the moment I lay down underneath the sheet, my body melted and I wished I could stay like that forever. Megan is very, very friendly and chatty if you want to be, and she really knows what she's doing! She expertly smeared a peach-scented scrub all over my body, kneading all of the knots away. She left me to rest for a few minutes while she prepared the shower to rinse off the exfoliating granules.
After slipping on a wrap and some terry sandals, I was led to the shower room and encouraged to choose from their array of body washes and shampoos, and to utilize the stacks of fluffy towels and a fresh robe. I took my time, intending to milk the experience as long as I could.
But that wasn't all! I settled back into the treatment bed for part three, in which Megan slathered on a rich body cream from shoulders to toes. Pure heaven. I would have gladly preferred to curl up for a nap once she was done, and was sorry to have to drive home in my euphoric state.
I think that the scrub is the best deal they have, because a massage is built into the treatment, which lasts a little over an hour. Definitely ask for Megan, she is absolutely wonderful. -

I have an extremely low pain tolerance and have had terrible experiences with waxing in the past. However, I decided to just face my fear and start waxing on a regular basis. I warned Laura of my low pain tolerance ahead of time, and she suggested using a numbing spray. She made every effort to make the experience as easy for me as possible. She is extremely professional and considerate. I would recommend Ambiance to anyone, especially those that are new to or have had bad experiences with waxes in the past.

I decided to check this place out for an airbrush tan before a trip to Miami last month. I am extremely pale and have tryed different things, this one was by far my best self tanning experience. It was nice and even and Diana the girl who helped me here was friendly. When I called in to make an appt. the lady who picked up the phone was very knowledgable and answered all my questions.

This is a review of the boutique only.
When I first moved to Long Beach, I was excited to find such a cute little boutique that sold my two favorite skin care lines, Yonka and Sampar, as they are hard to find. But the salon's hours are very limited and they are essentially only open when I am at work. On four occasions I've tried to make it there before they close only to find them out the door before that time. On three different occasions, I've gone in to find that they are out of products I need - they told me they "just" ordered them and offer to call me when they come in. I never received a call. And then today, I checked the website AND the voice message to make sure they would be open so I could buy my favorite face wash. I took an hour out of my work day (an hour I will have to make up, thank you) only to find a sign on the door saying "be back at 2:00." You know what? I'm done. You need to be open when you say you are open and have the products you are supposed to have and follow-through when you say you are going to do something for your customer. I'll just buy my products through http://skinstore.com, thank you very much. At least I know that I'll receive the products when I need them. -

So after my horrific spa treatment (please see my reviews for further info) at different spa I wanted to get a coffee from Viento de Agua and I drove by this place and stopped to talk about facials. I went ahead and had my brows done by Diana and she was so nice and kind to me after my awful experience. I have had a lot of complements on the tinting and my long curly brows are tamed!! I would go back. Thank you Ambiance.

Review from Holly T.
I first started going to this skin care salon a few years ago when it was in its much smaller location next door. I had followed my aesthetician here after she left Atlantic Studio, and I enjoyed it for the most part. The previous location was small and intimate, and because it could only fit one client at a time, I enjoyed the more personal service. They use high quality Yon-ka products, which are excellent, and carry many other great beauty products as well. However, I have to say I'm not a fan of their new location. I think it's great they were able to expand into a bigger space, and the reception area now features many more products, but the treatment rooms seem unfriendly and sterile, in my opinion. I just can't relax or feel comfortable when it feels more like a doctor's office than a spa; ironically, I think they need to work on the "ambiance." I really hope they can improve in this area.
