I went for my birthday and the good was spectacular. I had an opportunity to meet the head chef and the sous chef during my visit. It was a pleasure to find people with their culinary expertise in such an unexpected place. I ordered the calamari, the brie, lamb chops and the creme brulee cheesecake with the berries. Everything was delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the presentation was loverly (yes, loverly, which is above both a lover and something utterly lovely...lol). I was ridiculous because as birthday girl, I tried to taste everything on everyone's plate. I tasted delicately flavored crab cakes, bisque, perfect plump oysters and a chocolate cake that was the most. Yay!.

A follow up review to my previous review which was a rave.
We went on a Tuesday night and maybe the chef had a day off. I ordered the duck and what came out was a Sysco prepared dish that was not even hot enough.  I know what it was because I bought the same entry at Costco the other day.

Go on a day nearer the weekend.

Just went to Amber Lantern on a Tuesday night. Food was fantastic and the service was fast! Still can't get over the fact that there is such a good restaurant in a place that looks so unassuming. Kind of reminds me of military lodging.

My husband had the Mahi Mahi and risotto. Oh my, it was amazing! Perfectly cooked, and super fresh. It had a nutty coating with orange zest I think. The risotto was so good too. I had the shrimp and lobster over pasta which was good, but not as good as his. The shrimp was awesome though, wish they had given me more of that. I think some of the lobster had been undercooked or something, because it tasted fishy and I had a bad tummy ache later that night.

For dessert, my husband had the coconut cake and I had the lemon & berry cake. The desserts were enormous! We probably should have shared one. They were outstanding as well. We were so full when we left.

Will definitely go back here despite my tummy problems. It's super close to my in-laws house and I loved sitting outside looking at the water.

I went to Amber Lantern with my husband and a friend on Friday evening.  We had a reservation for 6PM, but there was no need!  The restaurant was practically empty!  Even when we left (around 8:30 PM), it was not crowded.  Too bad, as this was an excellent restaurant.  I had the filet, which was cooked to perfection, and my husband had the porterhouse special (which he said was delicious).  The highlight of the meal was the coconut cake for dessert!  YUM!  I would highly recommend this for a special night out/anniversary/birthday, etc.

Love this place.  By far the best calamari and crab cakes in the area.
The creme brulee and tiramisu are both yummy.  The interior of this restaurant is very nice.  Doesn't compare to anything else in Chesapeake.

Great meal. The service was excellent and very fast. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed watch the sunset on the water. Definitely worth the drive.

We came in to stay overnight by boat. The special deal was free dockage in exchange for eating dinner.  This place is really special. Carmelo the chef came out to welcome us.  He is from Sardinia and his cuisine reflects his Mediterranean tastes.

Since we are trying to eat a bit less, we only had one entree, the shrimp and lobster over linguine with tomato sauce plus the tuna appetizer and the artichoke and cucumber salad to share for two.  All the dishes were exceptional.  The shrimp were tender and almost crunchy they were cooked to perfection. The pasta was freshly made so it was not too al dente but went well with the slightly tangy tomato sauce that had capers as an additional flavor.  Overall a perfect dish for us.

The tuna appetizer was on a bed of Japanese seaweed salad and dashes of a fine balsamic vinegar.  The salad had two large marinated artichokes and English cucumber slices that mated perfectly to the oily chokes.

No dessert, but we ogled the other diners chocolate volcano cake and creme brûlée.

The service was excellent and the staff are obviously well trained and directed. The server was charming and informative.

This is a spot to make a special destination, especially for we boaters who transit the waterway and have trouble traveling to restaurants.

Follow-up visit and again very good, this time tried the Calamari and Tale of the Sea (Shrimp & Lobster with Capers over Linguini in a Fresh Tomato Sauce). Calamari was good, batter could have been lighter, chili sauce was good with side of marinara. Entree was fresh, good quality & quantity, fast & courteous service. Considering what you get for your money, must say it's a better value than the other places I've tried in the area.

I went to here for the first time last night with my family, and I was very pleased. I tried some of the caesar salad, which was clever and delightful. Maybe just a tad too much dressing? D; My entree was the filet mignon, and MY GOODNESS was it delicious! The flavors were so bold and it practically melted in my mouth. & the thing is, it was undercooked to what I ordered! Still managed to love it. I would like to say that I do wish they had a little more selection. The chef wasn't there when we went, but still. One of the members in my party was disappointed that his favorite ribeye was no longer on the menu! Nonetheless, I will definitely come again.

Enjoyed a relaxing dinner which included excellent service, great food and a sunset over the inter-coastal. I had been hearing good things about this place and have wanted to try it out for a while now. We ate inside because the sun shining on the deck made for rather hot al fresco experience, but we snagged an after dinner drink outside when it was cooler. We had the Blue Mussels appetizer, which were prepared perfectly. I followed up with the grilled salmon special and my husband had the crab cakes. The presentation was lovely and the food was delicious. I am not a big cooked vegetables person, but they had an interesting mixed vegetable medley with peppers, squash and edamame. I loved it. We were too full for desert, but the table next to me ordered a monstrous piece of coconut cake. Maybe next time! I love being on the water, and was pleased to find a place with good food and ambiance. The view is a bit industrial in places, but overall it is very relaxing to watch the boats come in and see the sunset over the trees.
Note to bartender: this is one bar on a short list of restaurants I have found that really know how to make a fantastic Manhattan:)

The entrees and tapas were absolutely wonderful! I only wish the cocktail prices were a bit more reasonable. We thought $7 for a Bacardi and Coke was a bit exorbitant for Chesapeake. We loved it though.
