Review from Sonia S.
San Francisco, CA
Booked a room here on a quick ski weekend in South lake and it was an easy place to stay when you just need a basic (and clean) crashpad.
Pros: clean, relatively spacious rooms, location is close to the main drag and to Heavenly, very reasonable rates, was able to book room just a few days prior.
Cons: 45+ mins to Kirkwood -

I've stayed here a few times, usually during snowboard season, usually for a 3 night weekend. It is a dated motel (think old school style lighting and a giant bulky RCA tv), and you do get what you pay for. The carpeting appears old, but clean enough, the bathroom is clean, shower has decent pressure and is very hot for those steamy showers post-mountain. They serve breakfast on weekends, but DO NOT expect anything, it is just brewed coffee, capri sun juice, hiddne valley granola bar, and some costco pre-packaged donut/bear claws. Some rooms have an en suite kitchen, which was nice and unexpected. Contrary to what some people on yelp/tripadvisor has said though, I have never noticed any bedbugs.
Pro: cheap ($40/nt), close/walking distance to gondola
Con: on busy days, parking can be a hassle and you'd have to get creative and risk someone blocking you in, older style, breakfast is lacking severely, lack of microwave/fridge in standard rooms unless you upgrade (usually for extra 10/nt) -

Friendly manager and enjoyed the morning coffee and breakfast bars/Danish. Also, the room included a kitchenette, which was perfect for making breakfast. The lodge is close to town and i have no real complaints...enjoyed our stay. Of course, there are nicer places to stay in S. Lake Tahoe, but for the money, the ambassador motor lodge was clean, and convenient. The furniture, bathroom fixtures and kitchen appliances are old, and outdated, but everything worked.

I would not even give them one star. Without saying too much the hotel management cannot be trusted and is rude. They promised to hold on to a canceled reservation for a year. When the time came they did not honor the hold, saying that their commitment to me was a mistake. They should have told me the truth the very first time, instead of lying to me later.
How can anyone do business with such dishonesty?
I am not concerned about the money since the amount is not too large. I am concerned about businesses that are dishonest to their customers -

$69/nt mid week.
Family has been staying here every year for the last 5+ years when we go boarding.
Walking distance to the casinos, even in snow. Reasonable prices. It's a little old, but it's a warm place to sleep.
We called the front desk to ask for more toilet paper and they asked us to come and pick it up. That's fine. -

Pros: Walking distance to the strip. Continental breakfast included.
Cons: Deceiving nice from the outside. Springs jut out of the beds. Pool & hot tub isn't in working condition. Parking is limited. -

Perfect location. I stayed the weekend here. The price was cheap for a clean, nice room with good heat, a modern shower, and a small desk with a chair. A small refrigerator and a microwave come with the room. There is free coffee and pastries in the morning too.
The grounds are well kept and overflowing with beautiful flowers. The pool is an amazing place to relax and swim during the summer.
There are lots of places in walking distance including the lake, many restaurants, and a drug store. Everything else is within a quick drive.
Great rooms and a fantastic deal. A friendly couple manages the place. -

A very nice motel, clean and fresh and comfortable.
No ac but we were fine with the ceiling fan.
Wonderful heated pool and great staff.
Close to everything and what a bargain! -

San Diego, CA
Basic motel for a good price. It's like a 5-10 min walk to the Heavenly gondola, and only like two blocks away from the casinos. The room itself was old but clean and beds not very comfortable but also not entirely uncomfortable. It was nice having a fridge and microwave in the room and the free wifi was spotty. It was a great price compared to everything else for the dates we were there. The casino rooms were almost twice the price and Embassy Suites was about 3 to 4 times the price. If I'm going for budget I'd definitely stay here again.

Basic no frills motel. Clean and very reasonably priced. Also very close to the casinos and restaurants. Decor and mattresses are pretty old.
