I've been going here since back in my CSUN days (about 10 years now), and even though my husband (boyfriend back then) and I have moved further away from Amazing Thai, we still make it a point to come by here and there.  (We're pretty close to the owner, and have even seen her baby girl grow up before our eyes!)

Now I will say that the reviews about the slow service are for the most part true.  I'm not going to make excuses, but since I've been coming here for so long, there are a few things that should be pointed out in relation to this.  There is usually only one cook on duty, who takes their time cooking each dish, especially their specials.  Also, the girls/waitresses that work here are better at bartending than anything else.  (A reason why my group of friends actually like coming here, which I'll get to later.)

So, helpful hint: sit at the bar if possible.  You'll get definitely get better service.  There's a reason why all the tables are so empty and the regulars are all at the bar!  Also, if you're friendly with the waitress they'll be friendly with you!  I've seen a lot of girls come through, and my friends and I have made friends with each one of them.  They're all fun and will make your time here fun if you include them in your drinking endeavors!

Which brings me to my next point, whenever we come here, it's drinking first and food later.  Best thing to do is here is order your food, not expecting it to come out in a snap.  Order a couple of drinks, watch the game on the flat screens (they have three!), sit back and relax!  They have beer towers if you have a bunch of people, and if you're going for something stiffer, they can pour a heavy hand if you're nice!  When you're food comes out, it'll be worth it!  My favorite dishes are:

Fried Calamari: good appetizer to go with your beer.  It's crispy and comes out hot! So be careful!  They serve it with a sweet & sour sauce, but it's also good with a spritz of lemon.

Coconut Chicken Soup (Tom Ka Gai): LOVE this dish.  I order a side of rice with it, and it's bomb!  Be careful of the chiles!  Funny story: they use green chili peppers that look like green beans.  Twice I've mistaken them for green beans!  My mouth was en fuego!  My husband laughed at me-almost spilling his drink-he thought it was so funny.  Well, the next time we ordered it, guess who made the same mistake?  Now, who's laughing!  LOL...anyway, there were a couple other friends of mine who have eaten the green chilis by mistake as well....so fair warning!

Tiger Cry: marinated strips of beef with this wonderful spicy sauce.  My mouth waters just thinking about this dish!  I honestly think it's the sauce that makes it so damn good.  I know that there's fish sauce in it, so if you don't like fish sauce, this isn't for you.

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is, Amazing Thai isn't for everyone, but it's a great atmosphere to gather with friends, get reasonably priced drinks, and have a good time hanging out.

Went in with a friend on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and the place was pretty much vacant.  Despite the claims of "Amazing," I wasn't expecting too much from the food in a place that also described itself as a "bar and grill".

I'd say that the food is okay.  Not amazing...  but not bad either.  Hows that for a resounding vote of confidence?!

The service was fine for us.  The place was pretty empty.  The food did take a while, but we weren't in a rush.

Well Thai is my favorite- and now- so is this place!

Authentic Thai- each and every dish made with passion and supremacy- delicious! The service was great too- beautiful girls who are very sweet though at times absent-minded- that's ok- the food is so bomb that any service would be worth it. The curries are great and the meat quality in both the chicken dishes and beef- were superb- cooked perfectly.

I wasn't fortunate enough to come here during the karaoke shenanigans I keep hearing about- but you better believe it's on the to-do list!

I would definitely recommend the one drink I tried  which was a sangria margarita- I believe? I know it was definitely on the cocktail menu though and it had the word Sangria and it was huge! Have one you will not regret it but WARNING- very strong (though it doesn't taste strong!). Make sure you aren't driving!

Also another tip- coming from someone with a high spicy-tolerance, I asked for medium and it was almost too spicy that it made eating more than a few bites almost unbearable- go with low spicy- to be on the safe side because they definitely go overboard.

Beautiful place, good service, amazing food- and that makes sense! They live well up to their name. Great for dates and it looks like it's great for groups too! or even a drink or two with a friend.

    I'll be back!

Make HAPPY HOUR happen w/ good friends. Bangkok tea is SOOOO BOMB!~
Compare that to TOKYO TEA, BANGKOK TEA will be it.

Thai Iced tea is great. Food is delicious. The waitresses are outgoing, sexy, and helpful with the menu. Pad Se ew & Their chicken are amazing. Lives up to their name. No dry noodles. Morning glory w/ shrimp is good too.

Came here with a friend and we sat at the bar.

I got a $4 pyramid & my friend got a $7 blue hawaiian. We weren't that hungry, so we also ordered beef pad see ew for about $9. We didn't wait too long for the food and once we got it, it was delicious. The servers/bartenders were nice & helpful. & with $8 patron shots, how can you go wrong?

Bottom Line - I loved this place & I will definitely be back!

Yeah, ok, so there's no decor. It's not a fancy place, more like a local hangout joint with awesome Thai food.

Anyone who says the service is bad was probably not very nice to the girls here. They are awesome... So friendly, best service. (The tequila shots we bought them might have helped.)

And the food... Yum. Pork jerky, wontons, and the green curry were my favorite. I will definitely be back to try more!

Okay, this place WOULD'VE been at least 3 stars if the waitress' weren't so dumb and kept me and my friend Jessica F. waiting for our food, which was sitting on the damn counter for 25 minutes. We called our food in because we  have only 30 minutes of lunch time. We come in and pay for our food. We wait for like 5 - 10 minutes.' It's ok. they're probably still making our food' - We thought. It's not 15..now 20..now 25 minutes of waiting. Me and Jessica get anxious and frustrated because not only have we waited this long for something that had been called in 25 minutes ago now, we are also going to be late. The entire time these so called waitress' would not come up to us to tell us that our order would be coming shortly or if everything was ok. All they were doing was flirting with these creeps who were getting their long island on at fuckin 1:00 pm.

Me and Jessica happen to notice a bag which was across the bar and had been sitting there since we got there. We say to ourselves, "That better not be ours". One of the waitress' walks up to it and and brings it to us. Right away I say, "Are you kidding me ? That was our order this entire time? Do you think we came here on a whim just to chill and max out with these perverts and parade ourselves with a drink in one hand?

Not only were we pist and annoyed, we also got back to work late. Yeah, good one!

To claim itself "amazing," I have to say it's just "okay."  I feel like this place is short staffed.  I've waited a good amount of time for my food during both take out and sit in visits.  It took more than 30minutes to get soup out for our four people during a sit in visit.  Staff is friendly, but dang, it is a LONG wait to get your food.

As for the food itself, I LOVE their Pad See Ew.  Their vegetables are cooked and marinated so well that there is no bitter taste at all.  The dish is the perfect amount of sweet.  The Pad Kee Mao is also very good.  Though I don't like spicy dishes much, the few bites I had of this definitely had my taste buds tingling.  Their Tom Kha soup (spicy coconut) is great as well, though I usually enjoy Tom Kha anywhere I go.  They offer the soup in a milder form for those who don't like things too spicy.

Aside from this good food, I also had some of their Pad Thai, and honestly, I've had much better.  The noodles were too wet and the sauce seemed thin, though the flavor was still there.  Pad Thai is one of the most popular Thai food dishes, so having under par Pad Thai was a no go for me.

Ultimately, this places loses two stars for extremely delayed service (mind you, each time I went, it was not crowded at all) and a-ok food with some exceptions for an "Amazing Thai" restaurant.

    Worst restaurant experience EVER!!

So, me and a group of my friends randomly decide to go grab a bite here on a Saturday night after a surprise birthday party for one of my friends. We arrive with about 25 people without a reservation. They tell us they would have preferred us to call ahead of time for a big party, but they seat us since the store was pretty much empty. I mean, we did come in a big group out of nowhere so I felt bad for that, but customers are customers.

So we get seated and the waitress takes our order. After this was when everything started to go wrong.

So first off, we did not get water or any of our beverages for almost an hr. I tried flagging the waitress down three, four times but she just ignored me. Our drinks would come out after we got all our food. And I had to literally get up and go to the bar to ask for my cocktail.

Second, Our food took forever to come out and all out of order. I know we were a big group but it does not take an hr to bring ONE dish out to the table. And each dish we ordered would come out in about 15-30min intervals after. Also, the first people who ordered didn't even get their food until literally 2 hours after they ordered, and after everyone who ordered after them finished eating. My friend had to order her food three times until she just gave up and told the waitress to cancel the order.

Third, the waitress was SUPER unfriendly. we would try to ask for water, or a bowl of rice on the side, and she would just brush us off or forget we even asked for it. Also, one of my friends who had to wait 2 hours for his dish was brought a dish he didn't order because they had run out of what he actually ordered. He kindly asked the waitress if he can possibly get a discount of some sort since he had to wait so long and didn't even get what he wanted. the waitress left to go call the manager. She came back and told my friend "I talked to the manager and he said no so..NO" and just walked away.

I'm usually a very patient person and rarely complain. And I totally understand that  a big group like us may not have been planned. But It was a Saturday night, which is usually one of the busiest nights at any restaurant. Also, I don't think they should have served us so poorly because we didn't make a reservation. We were still customers, who most likely won't be back anymore after this experience.

With a name like Amazing Thai you have to live up to your name otherwise you're nothing but hype. This place is amazingly crappy from the food to the service...so I guess they were right, it's amazing.

Overall the dishes we had were pretty poor. The meat in all of the dishes was overcooked and tough. The flavor was minimal and many of the dishes seemed to need SOMETHING to make them better. But the crown jewel of the meal was the Tiger Cry. I almost had to cry it was so terrible. It tasted like we were eating marinated strips of horse meat. They do advertise that if you the tiger cry is so good if you don't like it they will give you your money back, but at that point I think we were just overwhelmingly happy when the check finally arrived that we didnt want to waste another 20 minutes there trying to get the horrible tiger off of our bill.

Foods were okay... Haven't tried the rest of the foods..

I've tried their angel wings, spicy beef noodle soup, and their rice dish..

    Angel wings taste just OK...

Spicy beef noodle soup.. weren't spicy at all (I asked for medium) and a bit bland.. Portion was good.

The rice dish.. there were BBQ pork, duck, and roast pork with some sauce. Taste was good and portion was good.

    Uncomfortable chairs tho'  (-_-")

Would come here sometimes with friends and drink all night long.  I'd order the pad see ew which is cooked on the spot.  Food is good and the brews on tap are good as well.  Loses one star because the old lady who cooked my food left me with a meager portion after putting some into her own bowl.  I paid menu price for an entire portion to feed myself, not menu price so we can share.  On a side note: ambiance is pretty cool.

I will say that the only thing this place has going for it is the food. Their curries and soups are delicious, but it stops there. The restaurant itself is well, ugly. The service is consistently poor, I even watched our waitress read the paper as we (the only table in the restaurant) waited for our bill.

That being said, I return here over and over again for the curry. It's a trade off, but worth the poor service and atmosphere for a tasty meal.

I was brought to this casual restaurant/ bar and grill for some thai spicy goodness. It is still making my mouth water. The mango spicy cabbage salad with peaunut sauce was the reason I went back with a date everyday for a week.

A bit more than I would like to pay for Thai food, but the food IS good. One of the better Thai restaurants in the West Valley. Because the fact that my husband and I often eat late, we like the fact that they stay open late (til midnight I think), even on weekdays when all other restaurants in the SFV lockdown at sunset. Good portion size and unlike most, if not all, Thai restaurants in the West SFV, if you ask them to make it SUPER spicy, they listen.

We recommend their duck noodle soup and roasted duck fried rice.

A small hole in the wall, this is a great bar to hang out and have a great time, but an ok restaurant.  The service is a little slow at times and the food, depending what you order, can be good, great, or bad. The Heavenly Chicken is good, if it comes out crispy rather than burned. The shrimp is ok, but I had better at Indra in Glendale. The service staff does the best they can, they are nice and considerate, but like I said, can be a bit slow at times.

Overall, if your looking for a great bar and a place to hang out after work, sing and relax, this is a great place. Other than that, your on your own.

Overall, not the best Thai food in LA, but most of the dishes are pretty good. For me, this place gets a high rating for 2 reasons...

    1. Specific dishes they have are really good - pork pad ka pow with a fried egg, pad see eew, pad kee mao, Thai angel wings, papaya salad, Thai beef jerky and their BBQ pork. Those are my go-to dishes there.

    2. I've been going to this place for a long time. While it does have its rough edges (occasionally a fight will break out when kids get to drinking), the atmosphere is usually quite friendly, my friends & I have gotten to know the owners and staff, and when they recognize you, you get excellent service and sometimes drinks and even meals for free because they really become your friends (My friends & I have actually partied with the girls that work there in and out of Amazing Thai, haha).

For those reasons, I give it a solid 4 stars. Plus, its a good spot to just chill and grab a drink & some food after work with some friends.

One of the most under rated Thai restaurants in the Valley I tell you what!

Whenever people ask me for my opinion on where to get some bomb Thai food around Chatsworth, Canoga Park, Reseda, Northrdige area, I direct them over to Amazing Thai....

The food here is just so authentic you can smell the Yellow River by just walking into this place.

I usually get the Pad Ka Pow (w/ ground beef & fried egg on top)... Highly recommended. I also have to say that Amazing Thai serves one of the most delicious Fried Wonton in So Cal.. Yeah I said it.. In So Cal! It comes in great portions and its well packed with meaty goodness.. Other fried wontons I tasted at other Thai restaurants consist of very little meat and its portion was lacking. But Amazing Thai sure knows how to serve em...

I've popped many friend's Thai cherries here (no, not like that)... They all thought they had good Thai food but once you come to Amazing Thai, it will have you hooked.

This place is also great for late lunch. I believe it was renovated not too long ago but now consist of LCD tv's and they also increased the size of the dinning room. Oh and they have a full bar... ZING!!!!!

I  must say, I am still in awe of Amazing Thai's evolution over the past 6-ish years. Considering it's in an industrial part of the SFV (Chatsworth, between Nordhoff and Lassen), which doesn't seem like the most logical place for a budding restaurant, I am still shocked (but happy) that people find this place. :) Ah, the power of word of mouth.

In the beginning, it was a complete hole in the wall and you would regularly find CSUN students hanging out in droves playing pool in the bar. The decor was nothing to write home about, but (since we made friends with the owner) we were told that they were still in the process of remodeling. Food, however, was awesome!

Fast forward a few years...by this time, Amazing Thai has finished the bar, remodeled the "dining area" on the other side, and removed the "drive thru window" wall they had that separated the bar and dining areas. Food is still as the name says, "amazing"; service is still a little slow.

Fast forward again to 2010, the food is still awesome, the service is still a little slow at times...but OMG, you've got yourselves an actual dining establishment now! Well, sort of. It still looks like a Thai restaurant that got lost in Mexico during spring break, but you can actually see in the place now (i.e., they added a decent amount of lighting) and it doesn't look as sketchy (i.e., there are real tables and chairs replacing the closeout special chairs they had in the past). Gone is the pool table in the middle of the bar, and the jukebox/karaoke machine has been silenced (although they still have the "stage"). The server girls are friendly and approachable and will bring you cheap, ice-cold Thai beers.

Must Have's: Tiger Cry, Coconut Soup or Tom Yum, and grilled pork. Also might want to try the Panang curry.

Tip: they also used to own (I think they still do?) another Thai restaurant in Hollywood. Can't remember the name of it, but if you ask the owner lady, I'm sure she'll tell you. :)

5 shakas, Amazing Thai. Whatever you do, don't change chefs!

Being an on and off customer for several years only because I have moved out of the area.  I had dinner and drinks here with some friends and still enjoy it like it was before.  The food is great.  The staff is very courteous and friendly.  The owner herself is a great cook and so is her mother.  And when it gets really busy she brings her sister from the Hollywood Restaurant to come down and help.

Although I never though the location is all that great because it's pretty hidden in a residential area and  the plaza sits alone on this long stretch of Mason Street.  Lo and behold, they're still going strong and service is still at its best.

The food I recommend is shrimp fried rice, the duck noodle soup, the larb (serve with cabbage), I think that's what it's called, the tom yum soup, the beef salad, the fried tofu, ooh I can go down the list in the menu.  The food is good and the waiters are a good company too.

The bar is all you can have bar, they can make anything you want them to make d they have a wide selection of alcohol, and all types of beer, on the draft too.  They used to have a one man band and the Karaoke stage, I don't know if anyone still goes up there and sing.  (shhh I did sing one or two songs at one time), those days are over!!

It's a big place to throw private parties, CSUN students had a luau party there, My friend had a bday there, and I of course had my Bridal shower there.  So this place is very memorable to me.

Parking is great, you will never have a problem.

Great Place to grab drinks at night. For the longest time i didn't know they were a Thai restaurant too. We would come here at nights and drink at their huge bar they had.  Sometimes they would have a DJ. Sometimes they would have Karaoke. I know they had really good Pad Thai when we were hungry and drinking too.

Reason I liked this Bar was because of their huge bar and because it wasn't so gloomy and squeezed together like some bars.

I wanted to update my review...

I mention Thai Valley as a much better place. Well...that was before new owners or a new chef, as they have become less than good-average.  The best Thai on the north west side now is Thai West /  West Thai on Topanga Canyon.

Also another much "upper" scale (vs hole in wall), sit down with serious quality food is Lum Ka Nad on Reseda just south of Nordhoff.

Went here today around 4pm and the place was a ghost town! The place is spacious, mostly wood furniture, and theres a large full bar that sits at the center of it all. We pulled up two stools to the bar. The bar top is very large and has much depth to it, nice to sit at. Service was fast but what can I compare it to? We were the only ones! Their menu is actually really nice' the photos of their food are actually professional looking. Their WATER was a nice surprise. You can taste a dash of lemon in it thank god it was good enough to have with my meal. Lets face it, most asian restaurants have tap water that tastes like it was funneled directly from the toilet :( Anyway, their beef pad see ew had the right flavor but some of the beef cuts were super chewey :(, with plenty of green vegetables in it. The only other thing we got was their chicken fried rice which was very flavorful also. Our bill for those two things came out to $19.95. I almost opted for their mango sticky rice thing but it was $7 which was kind of pricey in my opinion. Good thai food :)

A little sparse on the decor, but the pad see ew was good. A little much on the Chinese broccoli, but it was good. Friend had the Chinese sausage fried rice.  There was a lot of lap cheung... Like a lot. But he liked it.

Don't let the exterior deceive you.  Heck, don't let the interior fool you either!  While nothing about this converted dive bar screams Thai, the food will hook you in to become a regular.

I walked into the establishment kind of bummed that I wasn't going to be eating Filipino food.  I was attending a Filipino baby shower so I assumed that there would be lumpia and pancit.  To my delight the buffet table had about 15 entrees to choose from ranging from gai pad grapao to tom kha gai.  EVERYTHING was cooked perfectly, seasoned just right and melted in your mouth.  I wanted to shovel the grilled pork dish on a 15-minute schedule!

Even with Thai Town not too far away, I'd gladly drive to ATB&G to satisfy an authentic Thai meal craving any time.

It is my first time here. It looks ok not as bad. They are remodeling the table and chairs on one side. Try to come back again and see.  I ordered Pad Kee Mao as a friend of mine recommend. It looks good though.

I'm surprised that I found a more-than-decent Thai restaurant in SFV. The shrimp pad thai was excellent, so was the chicken ginger and onion. We fed about 18 people, most of whom had never experienced Thai cuisine. We over-ordered and had hardly any leftovers for the next day. Yum-o.

I've worked in the area for 35 years and seen this place change hands a few times and this is by far much better than the last places. Good menu selection and I haven't been disappointed yet. The egg rolls are the best that I've had anywhere. Last night I had the crab claw curry. While it was labor intensive and a little messy to eat as it had legs and claws the flavor was fantastic. Nice big flat screen T.V's to watch sports. Another plus is that they have shunned the major breweries (a bold move). My personal favorite is Blue Moon on tap. It's my 'go to' Asian food fix near work.

Not recommended. We went after reading all the positive reviews. The place was dirty and had a funny smell. I wanted to leave but was with friends, I regret not listening to my intuition. I got sick to my stomach half way through the Panang Curry which I eat regularly at a Thai food place near my home. My friend had the yellow curry and said it was just ok but she left over half if her's also. I don't know where the other reviewers have been eating Thai food but this was the Worst I've ever had.

After reading the reviews I thought that this place would be a good spot for thai food.

Me and my friend both ordered the Pad Thai and from first taste I knew I wasn't going to be happy. I tried to add a little chili to it for flavor but still it didn't make a difference. Maybe I came on a bad day but the food just tasted plain as can be with no flavor. The waitress was very nice but forgot to bring my thai tea.

The place overall is ok as far as decor goes. They have a small stage with equipment set up and a pretty good size bar.

Not sure if I would give it a second chance. Like I said could of been a bad day being that the previous reviews are high.

Food? Pretty good, the fried calamari was so delectable, I wanted to turn into a totoro and stuff that whole plate in my mouth. I'd say as far as food goes, the prices are about average compared to other Thai restaurants and actually the food is better here than other places (chicken satay is only so so though)

Service? SLOW. so SLOW. SLOW SLOW. Slow in the sense  that you might only work 5 minutes away, but you end up being 40 minutes late past lunch because you get the tea you request 30 minutes after you order it AND all the food comes out. really. slow. You need to have TIME to waste if you decide to come here. Also, the preparation of the drinks? SLOW. Service is sweet, but inattentive. Compare it to a well-intentioned but really stupid puppy that shits on your rug and just smiles and waggles his tail at you when you yell at it for shitting. The little mongrel is cute and sweet and all, but one dim motherfucker. That's like the service here.

Drinks? Why the fuck have chrysanthemum tea on a menu if you don't have it? Alcohol seemed overpriced for a place that CAN NOT MIX drinks that well. Stick to the beer. Do NOT risk getting liquor here because it's not worth it.

In sum: be prepared for everything to take forever, including getting the check once you ask for it (so have loads of time to waste), be prepared to have your drink order wrong at least once (or at least one person in your party), skip the liquor, even the specialty drinks  and be prepared to be surprised by how expensive your bill is.
