The Amarillo is a long-standing feature in Bellevue. The sauces are very good; smoky and southwestern, with quite a bit of 'pop' to them. You can tell that the sauces and smoking recipes have been perfected over the long haul.
Nice touches like jalapeno corn bread, and some very smoky beans, round out your meal.
My favorites are the smoked sausage (so much flavor!) backed up with some of the very tender yet succulent brisket. -

Let my experience with this restaurant serve as a warning to the rest of you: don't base your choice of eating establishment solely on the picture on the home page of said establishment's website. Because although the meal featured on http://amarillobbq.com looks absolutely delicious, the meals at the real Amarillo are absolutely awful.
Bottom line, if you like your chicken dry, your brisket overcooked and your waitresses uber-creepy, then this is the place for you. Also, the BBQ sauce tastes like a Tomato McFlurry. Bon Appetit! -

Had the app sampler and meal sampler so I covered nearly all the meats. Over all the meal was good. While the name says BBQ the smoke the meats which is decidedly different from the grilling I am used to. Maybe a little too much carbon black on the meat but still good. The sause was great with a purée textue that gave it backbone. Sides were delicious. Definitely recommend.

When we went to Amarillo, I fell into the common trap of allowing myself to get too hyped up... their website, the reviews on Yelp, etc had be thinking, "finally, some awesome BBQ!" But I left Amarillo feeling somewhat deflated (not literally of course, they feed you well here). But the meat was a little too dry for my palate. I guess I like a saucier, spicier BBQ... It was definitely A-OK but I'm not looking to go back anytime. Even though I don't have a favorite spot yet, there are other places in town that have more impressive BBQ.

I am now trying to find a BBQ restaurant in Omaha that can rival all of the great places in KC.
We stopped by Amarillo this afternoon on our way back in town for a to go order. It was 3pm on a Sunday afternoon so the place was dead. They were very friendly and the service was very quick. After we decided what to order, it only took about 5 minutes.
We each got a sandwich. I got the pulled pork and my husband got the brisket. The brisket was okay. The pork sandwich was really good. It was really saucy so that makes it different than most places. I prefer the meat not to be mixed into the sauce and cooked that way, but it was good. I think their BBQ sauce is good as well. The sandwich was only like $6 and it came with potato chips. We also got beans and cole slaw. Neither were anything special.
I feel like we haven't tried enough here to give it a review, but based on what we had I would say it is just okay. I will try other places before coming back. -

My wife is from Kentucky and something of a BBQ snob. She said it was the best BBQ she has ever had north of the Ohio River. She went with the baby back ribs for which Amarillo has its well deserved reputation. I went with brisket and free range organic chicken. They start with quality ingredients, smoke them, then bring you spicy sauce sweetened with local raw honey instead of corn sweetener. The beans are the best, and they offer a nice mesquite Shiner Beer as well. The cole slaw and cornbread weren't my favorites, but with everything else top notch, who cared. We have found a new BBQ favorite.

The waitress was a peach and the meat tasted like it had truly been smoked. The sides were a little lacking (which is sad for me, but won't matter to the true carnivores). And I was a bit disappointed in the sauce. So I was thinking I'd say two stars overall. Then I realized that it's a barbecue joint and meat is what matters to most. So I'm going to round up to three. If you liked smoked chicken, ribs, etc. you'll like this place.

It was good food. I was staying next door at the hotel and got take out. Definitely Texas Style BBQ with its sweet hickory flavor. The sliced brisket was nice but the cornbread just a little dry for this southern girl. Overall good food and I would eat there again.

I believe this is the best ribs I have ever had. The ribs are SMOKED very nicely, the sause is not too spicy but you might not need any.

We used to come here all the time before we moved away from Offutt in 2006 and it was one of our favorite places to go. Sooo good. Drove through Omaha on a trip back to Nebraska last summer and decided to eat here again, for old times sake, and it's definitely not the place it used to be. Will not be recommending it to our friends getting stationed at Offutt anymore.

I've only been here once which is why I'm only giving it four stars, I haven't had a chance to experience much more of it. But when we went there it was incredible, you get a very very gracious amount of food for the price and it is all very good in my opinion. I loved the sausage and the brisket and the ribs and... well everything. I also really liked the corn bread which I'm usually not a fan of and also the Cole slaw was very very very good. Their BBQ sauce is very good and very original it just has this very distinct taste and spice to it that you don't really find anywhere else in the mid west.
