Why does boulder get to have the pleasure of having two Amante coffees, when Denver gets none!  Boo hoo, I want Amante!

This little place has the cutest decor, which is very contemporary.  It is small and cozy, yet sleek and clean.  The coffee is awesome, and they  even have gelato.  Back to the coffee...this place serves delicious alcoholic bev's, so it can be a perfect place to grab a night cap after a date. I am pretty sure everyone likes a tasty latte laced with coffee liqueur or baileys right?

This place is rad.  Thy should open one in Denver so I can attend on a regular basis!

    Short & sweet:

    Service: 5
    Coffee: 5
    Wait time: 5
    Price: 4
    Cleanliness of bathroom: 5

Small, but cozy, Amante is more than a cafe. The possibilities of Amante are endless. I can drink wine. I can order other alcoholic beverages. I can happily swallow their gelato. I can over-caffeinate myself on coffee.

My latte (I kept it tame) came to me perfectly, with delicate latte art - yum, and I was offered a sample of their gelato - yum.

The baristas were friendly, but not uncomfortably so. The booths are perfect for "working" (aka staring at other customers and eavesdropping on their conversation).

Just outside of Pearl St., Amante's is perfect for a late night caffeine fix.

I used to work in the now defunct (I think) and very short-lived Subway next to the location in north Boulder.  As such, I spent a good chunk of college time believing that Amante was the best there is (and I drank TONS of coffee).  The espresso is extremely smooth and the baristas are well-trained and amazing at what they do.

In conjunction with our farmers market trip last weekend, I made a point to stop in to the Walnut Amante and get a little taste of college.  It's pretty expensive - even as far as espresso drinks go - with a small latte setting me back $4, pre-tip.

But it's still really good....I didn't finish mine since I'm settling comfortably into a once a week coffee habit, but it was well worth the one coffee a week indulgence.

The space is very hip (in a European way as opposed to a fixed gear bike sort of way)....I always dug the one on north Broadway for the pro-cycling meets pro-soccer atmosphere (not that I'm into either, but it's a refreshing change of pace from the typical coffee shop clientele), but the much smaller Walnut location works in a pinch.

The staff was friendly and not snooty...worth pointing out since I find these to be rare qualities in Denver baristas.

Definitely a different kind of coffeeshop. There's a certain stylishness that pervades Amante. Not stuffy or anything negative like that - just a little less cozy than I'm used to.

That said, it's got some great flava. So much flava.

You can get coffee, of course, but there's also gelato and Italian sodas on the menu. So if you're not up to scowling over a cup of the hot stuff, you can eat ice cream like a true Boulder rascal.

Is it a cafe?  Is it a bar?  Is it an art gallery?  All of the above?  I'm still not sure.  A little pretentious, pricey, and weird, but good iced coffee.

The latte was okay. Decent, but not worth what I paid for it. I actually came in because I saw entertaining videos made by a few employees online, but none of them were there. I guess it's good if you watch soccer, but sports aren't really of any interest to me, especially not in a coffee shop as I try to work or read peacefully. The baristas were nice, and when a woman came in to buy beans, one of them made the effort to come into the main area and help her.

However, I prefer coffee shops that feel a little more homey and natural, not sterile. It was also one of the weird random cold days, but they turned on the a/c while I was there anyway - which was freezing and blowing right on me. I wish I could have tried the gelato, but the freezer was broken. Maybe when it's fixed I'll return and see if the experience is better.

OMFG.  Four words for you: Honey Peanut Butter Gelato.  One after-word for you: Flavorgasm.
Stopped in here after dinner to get some gelato, had the Honey Peanut Butter and a Costa Rican Vanilla (which was also good, but the honey pb is above and beyond).  Attractive counter man dressed in a a vest and slacks added a nice Euro feel.  Sat outside on the patio, looked at the mountains, and had to check my pulse to make sure I hadn't died and gone to heaven.
I will be dreaming of this gelato for years to come.

I must agree with Dave!  Skip the rest of those chain coffee's and make the trip over to Amante!  The coffee is so authentic, it reminds me of being in Europe, down to the giant espresso machine and soccer on the tele!

The coffee is great, and some interesting varieties, not your standard fare and *don't* ask for a 2-pump vanilla double blended mocha - just get an americano, espresso, or maybe a lattee - keep it simple to focus on the coffee, not the fillers.

Also, their gelato is great!  Get a sample and then pick one you like.

Lots of power ports and I assume wi-fi, because there were 5 mac's there surfing away.

They open early and sell their beans, so take some home!

Amante Coffee on Walnut is the soccer aficionado of coffee shops. They play the most important matches much to the joy of the soccer (or should I say futbol) fans that gather there to watch.

Beyond that I really like this coffee shop - it's open and bright, they have good Italian coffee, delicious treats (including gelato and gluten-free options) and most importantly free wi-fi. They even serve beer and wine - it's like there isn't anything this place doesn't offer you.

Oh, it's fine.  I like the staff there.  Amante coffee isn't bad, either.  Their prices are ok.  If your wife is getting her hair cut at the salon next door, you should drop in.  That was my mindset when I sent, anyway, and I wasn't disappointed.  They even let me take my espresso to the salon with me.  How nice.

The funny part is that the place appeared to be sponsored by Apple.  EVERYONE there who had a screen in front of them had a little fruity logo on the back of it, and they ALL had a screen in front of them.

I couldn't resist.  I asked the cashier "So, what, is this place sponsored by Apple?" as I gestured to the crowd.  She laughed and said "Yeah, Apple and European football clubs," gesturing to the soccer match on the big screen.

So go there.  Take your MacBook.  Have a coffee.  And watch Football.

I prefer the NoBo location, as it's much roomier.  Closer to home for me, too, but out of the way for most, I guess.

Reasons to go: Wi-Fi, Soccer, a consistent cuppa that isn't *$, Apple support (?), you want real european coffee and can't find anyone who serves Illy (hey, me too)
Reasons not to go: You want cheaper coffee, you hate snobs, you hate non-american football, you're downtown, you're sick of seeing tour de france trainers (looking at you, Harmony, dear).

Alternative: Boulder Bookstore.  More significantly, a better alternative.

Tips: Yes, it's wheelchair accessible, but it's a fairly tight space.

Picked up some of their Forte coffee beans. While it was a dark blend, it did not have a full-bodied flavor that I generally enjoy in my coffee. There wasn't much depth to it.

I'm tempted to give them a bad review just so people won't come and it can be my very own special spot!  I'm evil but not that evil!

Amante is awesome!  I love coming here after a light dinner and having an 'adult' coffee beverage. Tonight I had the spiced wine. It was delicious.  The atmosphere is delightful, the music is great and the servers are nice. A perfect spot.

Amante puts it down for local coffee spot that pours a great cup of coffee.  I dont care for latte's, mocha's, capuccino's, because you can dress them up with ingredients.  Coffee is my true test of a cafe...

I had a cup coffee on recommendation from my brother-in-law, on our way to eldora for some snow funs.  Well warned of the 98 octane experience i was about to have, i stayed conservative and ordered a 12oz cup and a pastry.

i put in my usual 2 sugars and cream, and start taking sips.  very very yummy...   the brew is not as bold as a cup of peets, its smooth, a bit mild, but very very flavorful.  not too acidic, and not thick.  but the caffeine buzz that hit was like whooaaaaaaaa!

see, this is what starsucks lacks.  it just loses it completely by forgetting about quality, and concentrating on pushing out all those venti-thinga-ma-jigs..

    I'm coming back.  for sure!

I love Amante!  I've never had a bad espresso drink here.  It's also a great place to go for drinks when you don't want a bar atmosphere (i.e. dark and full of noisy drunks).  My favorite in the winter is a spiced wine.

The staff has been consistently pleasant and cheerful.  I like the good indie tunes they're usually playing.

The only reason I don't go there more often is because it's so small--often there just aren't any open seats.  That's usually the case with the Amante up north, too, even though it's bigger.

Introduced to this coffee shop by a full-blooded Italian who knows his coffee, and doesn't settle for anything but the best. I knew we were in the right place the minute I stepped through the door and my head was filled with the rich aroma.  I went for the double-espresso. Just like being in Italy!

I saw the Facebook sign on the counter . . . but can't find you on Facebook :(.

This is a masterful representation of an Italian cafe. Their espresso drinks are well crafted, mostly simple and allow you to experience the actual quality of the coffee. The cappuccinos here show that they really understand how to make a great espresso drink, perfect proportions of espresso, milk and foam served in an actual cup with a saucer and spoon. I have been a fan for a while, I think Amante might be one of the best in Boulder, or the Front Range for that matter.

The interior is open and nice, they use their small amount of space very well. It is really nice when the patio is open.

Their food isn't that great, but I guess it is just a coffee shop.

    Overall great!

When people think about coffee, Starbucks usually comes to mind. However, in Boulder, Amante on Walnut is the place to go!

The coffee (I get the lattes with extra shots of expresso) is excellent and makes all others pale in comparison!

The items in the coolers, e.g., bottled drinks, pastries, etc., are reasonable, but it's the coffee that is fantastic.

The coffee and americanos taste burnt.  If you like lots of sugar in your lattes, it shouldn't matter.
I like that they sell caffeine, alcohol, and gelatto, and that the whole place feels sleek, but the whole of it doesn't quite fit my style.  I agree with another reviewer who indicated that the stylishness of Amante gets in the way of it being a cozy hang out.

Forget the burnt coffee at Starbucks, this place is the real deal.  I live about 20 minutes away from this location, but I find an excuse to drop in every few weeks.  A real hole-in-the-wall look like you see on the side streets in Europe.  The cafe au lait is my thing.  They have have euro-style pastries as well as locally made gelato from Glacier.  They also seem to have a liquor license as the last time I was in they had a few bottles to make coffee cocktails and some Italian beers on tap.  The baristas are efficient and personable.  And they have WiFi. Amante is a chain local to Colorado with just 3 stores including a shop in Steamboat. Go there: support local businesses.

Amante is teeny tiny and serves great coffee, chai, cocktails, and gelato. I think a lot of it's charm is that it's on Walnut, not Pearl, and therefore the customers are folks who seek quality, not a quick caffeine fix.

I love the feel of this little shop. Inside you can relax and set up shop on their marble tables and sip your delicious latte. Their drip coffee is fantastic and I love the espresso. They have a bar as well so stop in after work for a cocktail or coffee, the choice is yours. Sooner or later I'm going to set up shop here with my computer and get some work done with some delicious gin and tonics. They also have a gelato counter which i have not tried but my mouth waters every time I look at it. I agree with Brittany B., this is the see and be seen place in Boulder. Many intelligent minds that run some of the best companies here in Boulder frequent Amante- contact smart!

Upon looking for a place open past 6 that did not have bands playing and had enough outlets for our computers, my friend and i decided on trying amante. I have been to the one in North Boulder, but never the one downtown and decided to try it out.  When we walked to the front door there was a sign for a new eggnog latte that sounded intriuging and not very many people inside. We walked in around 7 and stayed until they closed at 10. We were greeted by the staff and we found a place to sit.  I asked the staff about the eggnog lattes and was told it was really good! So I got one and it was delicious! The two staff memebers were very friendly and talked a little with my friend and I.  The music they had playing was relaxed and exactly the kind of music I listen to when studying.
This will be a place I frequent more- the coffee is strong and tasty, the staff is very friendly and accomodating (withouth the pretentious or bored or hipster-ish boulder coffee shop atmosphere), the music was perfect, the wifi worked great too! They even had a black and white movie playing on the tv- cute!

I've been a booster for Amante for years. It was consistently excellent, and one summer I came to Amante a week after a trip to Italy, and Amante's drinks compared very favorably to what I was drinking over there. But in June of 2011 I had a very different experience. I had an espresso macchiato, my standard drink, and a good measure of a barista. There's a bit of foam to demonstrate steaming skill (and latte art) and still allows the shot to really speak for itself. This drink was bad. I haven't made a drink this bad on my home gear in years. I bought beans that day and have been using them on my home gear with good results, so the only explanation is a poor barista. I mean, really poor. I hope Amante gets back on its stride, but I will not be back for another coffee this summer. A gelato maybe, but not a coffee. It's a shame. I'll miss it.

Really great atmosphere for being so close to all the commotion on Pearl Street sometimes. Their martinis and other alcoholic beverages are divine and pretty decent prices during happy hour. If you see a fellow working with dreads, ask him to make you his raspberry truffle creation. You won't regret it. Last time I went they were showing some black and white movie, which I thought was classy and cute. It's never been really busy when I'm there either, which is a huge plus. Nice baristas too :)

I felt like this place was intimidating.  Also there was music playing, for some reason I can't stand music, LOUD music in a small teeny tiny coffee shop.  I just want to order something to drink not have my ears blasted with some pretentious music I could care less about.  The americano was good, their equipment looked very fancy but really it's not something I will talk about with people, like how delicious their coffee was because although it was good, it was not amazing, fantastic, or fabulous.  Also the crowd wow it was so I don't know, snotty, pretentious, snooty?  I'm not really into that thing.  Staff was nice though and approachable however.
