We came here while visiting, the food was ok. Nothing to write home about. I tried the french dip on a hoagie, which the hoagie was not good. The meat, cheese and au jus were very good.

My husband had the Pastrami and loved it. We both tried the potato salad which is made in house but didn't taste freshly made. The menu is vast and there are other items i am willing to try. They allow a build your own sandwich which I had chosen to do.

    Service and location are good.

Pretty decent sandwich, good for after-boarding meal. The staff was a little preoccupied with the baby, but still attentive to customer needs.

Do it. and the little baby is super cute!

ok, fine, do it for the cute widdle itty-bitty baby.. koochie koochie kooo..

Homemade bread!?  Yes please!  Even though I can't have bread, my hubby got the garlic rosemary?  garlic something bread, it was really yummy!  He had the veggie sandwich on the homemade bread and I was good and got a little side salad with Italian dressing.  Everything was fresh and delicious.

Olive focaccia bread with Boars head roast beef, spicy mustard, pepper jack cheese --pretty good. Small fruit cup or chips included. No pickle slice :/ Other 2 friends ordered the pastrami and wheat-- they kept commenting on the delicious bread. Mother loved the BLTA (avocado) also on wheat. I had half a sandwhich left but the others ate all theirs.

No line, served in 10 min, lemon water from jug by window. High chair available from the back-- self serve. Free refills of soft drinks, but you have to go to the counter. Menu is on the wall. For a party of 4, 40$ was just enough. It's a tourist town & located in the village so that's that.

Their coffee confections looked frothy good-- giant mugs. Their tea, however, was served in a solo disposable cup, tea bag, & lid. Meh. If we're dining in shouldn't the tea be presented in a Mug too?

Low key, family place, clean & cute gourmet sandwhich place. Free wifi so you can linger. Some anemic looking beaded necklaces with earnings for sale by the lemon water jug-- definatly an impulse boredom shopping purchase.

Super delicious! We had the veggie sandwich, a bagel, side salad, hummus w/ fresh baked focaccia bread and a Cirtrus Awakening smoothie- everything was reasonably priced and super delicious! The ingredients seemed fresh and tasty. Their fresh baked bread was so good. We stopped in a couple times on our trip because we liked it so much. They have great vegetarian options. The only complaint is that they are not open for dinner, they said they usually close around 5pm but the there is no official closing time.
    They also have free wifi.

Wow, how is this place rated so high?!?!

While in Big Bear this past weekend I was in the Village and walked by Amangela's. The place was packed (usually a good sign) and the food LOOKED good, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

The man in line in front of me asked the girl taking the orders what her favorite was. She said the two best things on the menu were the Turkey Wrap and the French Dip. Having overheard the recommendation I looked at the menu to read the description of both. In additional to the basics (turkey, lettuce, tomatoes) the turkey wrap had hummus and Italian dressing. I love hummus, but hummus with Italian dressing? Maybe it's good, but it didn't sound appealing so I went with the French Dip.

After ordering and paying, I found a seat and waited for my food. And waited, and waited and waited. It 's a sandwich, and the only food I saw being delivered to others were sandwiches. What the hell was taking so long. It took so long that the couple who ordered AFTER me went to complain about the wait for their food before I even got my food. Finally after 30 minutes, my sandwich arrived.

When they first set the sandwich in front of me I was actually quite impressed. The sandwich LOOKED awesome. It APPEARED to be quite appetizing. It was cut in half and when I picked up the first half I got another surprise as the homemade French roll was heated and it felt really good in my hand. I know that sounds weird but it did. At this point I had almost forgot about how long I had to wait.

Unfortunately, then I took a bite. It was absolutely horrid!! Huge disappointment from something that was supposed to be one of the two best things on the menu. The sandwich tasted like uncooked powdery dough. Honestly, the worst sandwich I have ever had.

I was going to return it and ask for something else, but by this point the line for the counter was VERY long and it would have had to wait in line at least 10-15 minutes just to return the sandwich, and then no doubt have another 30 minute wait for the replacement sandwich. So I decided to try and eat it. After forcing myself to eat the first half of the sandwich I tried to decide whether to eat the second half or take it to go.

Considering how bad the sandwich was, I knew if I took the second half to go I would never eat it, so I went ahead and took a bite of half number 2. This bite was actually worse! The roast beef in this bite was all fat and gristle. I literally spit that bite out and said no more.

I wanted to leave, but at this point it was raining outside so I figured I'd sit and wait for the rain to stop. At one point one of the girl's working there walked by my table and saw the half uneaten sandwich pushed aside. I know she saw it cause she looked right at it and looked at me. Now I am not a small man. There are people who you can see a half uneaten sandwich in front of and think, "okay, maybe they are just a light eater." That is NOT me. If you see a half uneaten sandwich in front of me, you know damned well I didn't like it. But she didn't bother to stop and ask if everything was okay, she just kept walking and ignored my obvious dissatisfaction.

So bad service, a really long wait, and horrible food. Will I be back? To quote yelp's 1-star description..."Eek! Me thinks not!"

They've moved from the Fawnskin side of the lake to the Village.  While the location is perhaps more convenient, the whole feel of the place changed when I was again there this last summer.  It was still pretty good  drink wise, but the place is perhaps a little smaller and with the location change obviously trying to appeal to a different crowd. Go ahead and stop by for a drink, but it didn't seem as special as our last visit.

I'll be back up in October, perhaps I will review it again following that trip.

    This place was GREAT!!!!
We rented a boat for a couple hours to tour the lake (from Captain John's in Fawnskin which also was a great decision) and we thought we would grab some sandwiches for our afternoon out on the water. We had the BLTA on the black olive Parmesan bread and a Turkey sandwich with chipotle mayo on jalapeno cheddar bread. They were both amazing and my fiance and I wish we had a place this great closer to home. Looks like we will have to make more trips to Big Bear Lake!!

This is a great place to stop in for coffee, bagels and sandwiches while in big bear. The espresso was really good and the jalepeno cream cheese was tasty. The barista was friendly, intelligent and hospitable. They could benefit from a better front window display because their quality is not necessarily implied by the bubbly donut shop style lettering. If I ever come back to big bear I will most certainly make a stop at Amangelas.

We ordered a turkey wrap, french dip sandwich, and turkey on toasted bread sandwich. Pretty simple, but it took us 35 minutes to get our food. The food is not worth the wait.

While we were waiting, 2 tables approached the woman at the counter to ask where their food was and 1 other family (with 2 kids who looked soooo hungry and confused) ask for their money back. The woman at the counter said, sure, your total was $17, but you purchased 2 drinks, so we can't reimburse you for that.  Really?  On top of making them wait for their food for half an hour, you're not even going to comp their drinks?  So wrong.

Upon leaving, I stopped the counter and told the woman how long we waited for our food and that they should give their customers a warning about the wait.  She just said, "OK, thanks."  No apology, no remorse, nothing.  I'm pretty much convinced these people don't care about their customers and don't make an effort to address their poor customer service.  Go to this place if you're not hungry because by the time you get your food, you'll be starving.

I was up in Big Bear with the honey two weekends ago. We stayed in a cabin in Fawnskin by the lake, and planned our trip without groceries, which meant we had to rely on the Fawnskin eateries for breakfast and lunch. We Yelped the promising eateries in Fawnskin and Amangela had the most promising reviews written. The Amangela was our winner.  We ate here both for breakfast and lunch. On our lunch excursion, we sat out in the cafe patio, under umbrellas, admiring the woods and the occasional symphony of Harley Davidson choppers that paraded up/down the main route.

This cozy cafe was nice to settle in for coffee. The place offers a good hippie vibe with all the handmade crafts, jewelry for sale, and homemade decor. The food though was a little hit or miss. On a Sunday, we lunched on a turkey wrap and pastrami on rye with sides of potato salad and fruit. The pastrami on rye had stale rye bread, but good Boar's Head pastrami. However, the turkey wrap was very good and was accompanied with a delicious potato salad. Although, the sides were strangely tiny. The sides arrived in these mini cups that gave you 3-4 spoon fills of fruit or potato, which was enough to feed a baby but not enough to feed a gorilla sized Harley biker.

On our second visit, we ordered breakfast: 2 coffees, an onion bagel with creme cheese, and a bagel breakfast sandwich. Warning: Bagels are not the food item to order when you're in the woods. Your freshly baked pop wit a shmear kosher bagel -- you ain't gonna find a Fred Rubenstein delivering bialies and bagels up hear. You'll be lucky if you even find a Noah's Bagel's in these parts.  What you will get are Sara Lee bagels straight out of a bag and probably made over 2 weeks ago. So, I made do. The Philadelphia creme cheese was the best part of my onion bagel.  So much for a onion wit a smear... but my honey's breakfast bagel was good. He was kind enough to share his toasted Sara Lee bagel, which came with veggie sausages, melted cheese, green peppers, onions, and egg. It made the Sara Lee bagel bread edible and pretty tasty.

Amangela is A-Okay for coffee and a sandwich. It's a cute little cafe in the Fawnskin.

Turkey wrap, tuna salad and green tea smoothie... All cheap, awesome quantity and quality, friendly service and clean. In big bear finding this combo isn't always that easy. I want to go back to Bbear just to have their food, how crazy is that!? They also have books you can trade for, so bring a book/s, and they have art work on the walls for sale too. I love this place!

Cafe with free wireless internet in Big Bear Lake area.

Has a lot of interesting foods and drinks.

I got a turkey sandwich with humus which was pretty good.  They have cucumber water, which tastes like cucumbers.  Lots of juices, smoothies, coffees, bagels, sandwiches, breakfast stuff, soups and fruits.

Inside and outside seating.  Indoors has a fire pit in the middle of the place.  Restroom and place is pretty clean.  The lady was really nice.  And it's right next to a stream in the middle of the small town. On the. . . north west side of the lake?

They seem to close kinda early, 5pm?  Open 7am.

It's one of those odd random finds that has a lot of different things.  I don't really see how they can stay in business though cause they are priced pretty well but I don't see too many people driving the roads.

Dude.  So freaking good.  So good in fact l felt the need to pop my yelp cherry here.  The sandwiches are amazing.   The bread is so delicious and fresh.  You must try the homemade foccacia!

The turkey sandwich comes with seasoned turkey breast, hummus and avocado. Yum!

The service was a little slow on Labor Day weekend (i.e. the one woman in the kitchen took a while to fill the backlog of sandwich orders), but it was well worth the wait.

I'm sure the residents of Fawnskin are disappointed.. but I am so glad Amangela's was able to relocate to the village! I love the build your own sandwiches - you never seem to run out of combinations! My only complaint is that they have messed up my take out order a couple times, (i.e. wrong bagel, onions in my tuna salad when I asked for none) but it's nothing that's going to keep me from coming back!

What a perfect ending to busy morning. Stopped in today with my dad to grab lunch and what a wonderful place this is. Both the owner operators were present and were an absolute delight to deal with. I had a roast beef on sourdough and my dad had the turkey wrap special. My sandwich was about 4 inches thick with Boars Head Meat, Vermont Cheddar, Olives, Pickles, and Deli Mustard. My dad special had garlic hummus, avocado, smoked turkey, lettuce, tomato, all wrapped up in a spinach wrap. Perfect lunch, may want to consider sharing if you do not have that big of an appetite. All sandwiches also come with your choice of Bagel Chips, Fruit, Homemade Potato Salad (really good), or chips. Everything with two 20oz bottles of soda was just under $20.00. Great food, Great people, and Great Value...A must stop for the Fawnskin area... and if all that is not enough "FREE WIRELESS"
