i'm a girl who firmly believes in rewarding herself on a regular basis. oh, you stood in line at the dmv? you certainly deserve a cookie. you brushed your teeth? good girl! go enjoy a cupcake.
thanks to amanda and her secretly vegan tasty goods, i was able to more than indulge my inner fat girl.
on friday i drove out to the end of the world (meaning the far reaches of the valley), fantasizing about amanda's orange loaf. imagine my sorrow when she informed me that the 2 tempting loaves wrapped below were reserved for some lout who had called earlier. although i had visions of pulling a seinfeld and stealing them, i figured that would not be good karma, especially if i felt the need to return to amanda's in the future, which i most assuredly will.
my stash:
molasses cookie--5 stars, AND about 5 inches in diameter. this did not make it home. it did, though, allow me to remain sane as i fought my way through traffic limbo.
blueberry scone--5 stars. lovely, light and packed with berries.
pumpkin spice cupcake--5 stars. perfectly sized, moist, spicy, a perfect texture--not too heavy, not too spongy, with just the right amount of frosting on top.
maple spice cupcake--5 stars. just perfect. a vanilla cake with a frosting that was more dense that the previous cake's but a great flavor. not too overwhelmingly sweet or sugary.
gluten free chocolate cupcake for the mister--4 stars. nice flavor but heavy in that inevitably gluten free kind of way.
and how much did my stash set me back? $11.75. not bad...1 Previous Review: Show all »

I walked into this little bakery in utter amazement. Amanda had all the delicious conventional baked goods but she had secretly veganized everything! I was in heaven! PLEASE GO AND TRY THE BLUEBERRY SCONES. They are to die for and strangely refreshing for a baked good.
I can express enough how great this bakery is and how great of a job Amanda has done with serving the vegan community (and non vegan) with healthy wholesome baked goods that add warmth to anyones heart!
THANKS AMANDA. I'm coming back on a daily basis! -

VEGAN DONUTS.
Do I need to say more? Really? ok, I do... DELICIOUS VEGAN DONUTS!!!
There's something about a nice warm donut slathered in frosting and stuffed with cinnamon apples that just does it for me. It makes my belly all nice and warm inside... And then I go for another one. and another one. and another one. Suddenly I've gained 20 pounds worth in vegan donuts in a day. I guess just because they're vegan doesn't make them fat free. All I know is that these donuts can put Krispy Kreme to shame without the use of animal products. It's true I tell you! THEY ARE THE BEST!
The owner, Amanda, has put her entire heart and soul into this business. I've never met a person more dedicated to her craft than her. Just talk to her, she'll probably be the one serving you coffee on the other side of the counter. Just know she's the same chick who's up all night making these amazing donuts for you to enjoy. She doesn't use any preservatives, no chemical sweeteners, hydrogenated oils, nada.. none of that bad stuff. ALL wholesome and organic ingredients... So what if they're a little fattening. They're donuts, what do you expect?? ;) Try one of each, then don't bitch at me when you find yourself ordering another "one of each" and eating them all. :)
Go check this place out, it's inside Fields Market, you will NOT be disappointed. Get your ass up and go, right now! GO! -

Amanda's bakery and Cafe is no more - I'll miss getting my coffee there after a workout at FFF two doors down. Amanda said she returned to a management position at Follow Your Heart. Happy New Year, Amanda!
This bakery in the Field's Market is incredible! My photo is their expresso chocolate cupcake, a work of art. And their lattes, mmwhah! Go, girls, go! -

Excellent taste and variety! At least as good as Babycakes NYC. The S'more muffin was a bit stale, but everything else was excellent: chocolate chip cookie, Mocha cupcake (she calls it something else which I don't remember), Apple filled crumble donut, S'more donut, Boston Cream Donut, S'More pie (WOW!), Peanut Butter Chocolate Square. I wish she would post the menu online or more photos. This place is definitely worth the drive from LA, and possibly from OC if you love your vegan baked goods

Los Angeles, CA
Finally, a vegan bakery in LA. And on the weekends they have donuts! The maple bars and the apple filled maple crumb donuts are my favorites. The maple "bacon" donut is another great choice. They also have a variety of cupcakes, cookies, scones, dessert bars, cakes and bread, not to mention the cinnamon rolls - yeah! The banana cupcakes and the maple creme cupcakes are really delicious and moist. They've got just the right ratio of cake to frosting, too. My friend gets the chocolate peanut butter bars, which are so good, she can almost never pass them up. They do special orders and use organic ingredients whenever possible. This place is worth the drive into the valley and isn't far from Follow Your Heart. The service is also fantastic. Get there early for the best selection, otherwise I will have already bought all the maple bars.

Review from Amanda A.
West Hills, CA
I tried their chocolate chip cookies and this almost doughnut type thing it has caramelized apples inside and then crunchy walnut type stuff on top... I forgot the name of it. But they both were really tasty. The only thing I would say about this bakery is that it is WAY over priced. Cmon, 8 bucks for a chocolate chip cookie and two of those doughnuts that were very tiny btw. Result was very good tho.
