Review from Phil M.

This is by far one of the best restaurants of the area. The food, style, and class of this place are worth the price. On the menu they have a rather excellent selection of wines to choose from ranging from lower to higher end to help those trying not to spend too much and those who don't care either way. They also have a decent number of vegan meals for those who desire it and even as a non-vegan I thought it tasted good. I personally had the rigatoni and couldn't get enough. The service hasn't failed me yet, nor has it for anyone else I know. Also the music they play fits perfectly. This is an amazingly place to take someone on like a 2nd or 3rd date and a must try for all those living here.

Amalfi offers an array of options that I have seen nowhere else. Vegan versions of Chicken Marsala, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken & Vegetable Panini, and Roasted Vegetable Risotto just to name a few. Since I'm usually only in the area for homecomings I knew it would be awhile before I was back again so I chose a dish that I loved from my first bite as a child and hadn't had in over 2 years: fettuccine alfredo.

Where to begin! The atomsphere is relaxing and welcoming. The staff is very kind and helpful. The food is wonderful!
First, the warm crusty bread and olive oil w/ basalmic vinegar is exactly what I wanted with my bloody mary. Margherita pizza is ok, but it need more fresh basil and fresh mozzeralla.. Still good though. Meatballs are excellent, sweet, garlicky, and peppery but not overwhelming. Bruschetta was drowned with fresh roma tomatoes, olives, basil, freshed cracked paper, and olive oil.
It's a wonderful unassuming italian restaurant in Norfolk. It made me forget that I am in Navy territory. I'm definetley going to be a regular in Amalfi!! -

So Ive been craving a slice of this heavenly dessert for soooooo long and having moved from Brooklyn where I have an endless supply at my fingertips. I decided to try out this place based on the reviews here and I have to say its was really really good..granted that the prices are a bit on the high side yeah but all in all I will go back..

It ain't cheap, but man is their pasta good! These folks are true connoseirs... I believe that they actually make their pastas and sauces on the premises. In other words, ever thing is fresh folks! I doubt highly that you're going to get much better in Italian food unless you to to NY City, Boston or Sicily... (lol). The atmosphere is elegant and stylish. At dinner time, they dim the lights and light candles on the table. They offer vegetarian and vegan options (faux meatballs and faux chicken, etc.). A great wine selection, too. I've been so stuffed that I rarely have had the chance to get desert, but I have tried their HOMEMADE TIRAMISU and their VEGAN CHEESECAKE. Wow. Such a unique, charming place. The staff are awesome (how could I forget to mention that?).

Amalfi closed in late 2009. Too bad. Great Neapolitan pizza and ambiance. Closest thing to dining in Bella Napoli.
