Pass by this place several time before but never tried it until I found 2 seperate groupons for a peppermint mani-pedi and 3 one-hour massage. There was the initial problems of trying to schedule the massage appointment in which I was placed on hold for almost 10 minutes, so I hung up and called back later that day.
Both of the groupons allowed for use of the spa amenities. It's a small steam room with shower facilities. The place is super clean and see that the cleaning lady takes care of it. They provide salon quality hair products too. I really enjoyed my mani-pedi. The young Asian gal was friendly and really took care of making sure she did a fabulous job. My massages were ok. I did feel a little relaxed but not a much from other places I have received massages. I did ask for the masseuse to work on my specific problem areas and she did a little but it felt superficial. -

Stay away! This place is by no means a spa. By calling themselves a "spa" they set up an unrealistic expectation. There are no amenities meaning no hot tub, no steam room, no sauna. Their "relaxation"/waiting room, is anything but relaxing. It is outdated and loud. They served wine with chocolates as part of my package and the red wine was served in a champagne flute which is not acceptable and the chocolates were not worth the calories.
My 60 minutes massage only lasted 50 minutes, though it was OK. My facial person left a mask on my face for 10 minutes and didn't do anything during that time period.
They served their water out of cheap plastic cups and there was not even shampoo/conditioner or soap in the shower.
I would avoid this place. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because the massage was not bad minus the fact that it was short. -

Many years ago I came to this establishment for a massage and was underwhelmed. Since that time I was told that they had remodeled and were much better. So when Travelzoo offered a deal for a couples massage with champagne and strawberries, I was willing to give it another try.
Their locker room area has indeed improved, and that's about it.
Upon arriving, we were asked our robe size. We both replied medium, we were given robes and directed to our gender specific locker rooms. I undressed and put on a robe that I could barely get both sides to meet. I was horrified. How on earth was I supposed to step out in this? A cleaning lady just happened to be walking in at that moment and I pleaded for her help to get me a larger robe. She came back and said there were only XL. I took it. Swimming now in the XL robe, I looked at the label of the first robe and found that I was given an XS!
I went out to the waiting room, but my husband wasn't there. Odd. Then I hear, "Psst!!" It's my husband, sticking his head out from the men's locker room door. "My robe is too small!"
I tried to look for help, no one. So I went to the open shelf where our original robes were pulled from. Robe after robe I pulled down from the shelves that are clearly marked Medium and Large were all either XS or S!!! So I just yanked one from XL and handed it off to my husband.
The massage room was nothing fancy, not that I need it to be, but when I'm noticing chipped paint along the wall corners and on the floorboards, etc. that sticks in your head. It makes me wonder about attention to detail.
After our decent massages, we were lead to a sitting area that had the air conditioning blasting and a coffee table covered with too many dog-eared magazines to choose from. We were expecting champagne, but we were served a heavy-handed pour of white wine (which immediately made me question the quality of the wine) and then a small plate of dark chocolate truffles.
Yum. Not!!!
If you do not have the wherewithal to know that those two things don't go together, or care enough to put the correct robes in the right cubbies, or touch up blatant areas of missing paint, then sadly, the poor ratings will only continue.
I feel bad for this place because I think they could do so much better. Their staff seemed friendly enough. But is this place even making any money with all these Groupon, Travelzoo etc. offers? At least it's getting them new customers in the door, but isn't the point to make an impression so that they will return? -

I was disappointed to see the Spa lost its Sparkle and Shine! When an exclusive Established Spa like Amadeus has to display the awards of achievement near the entrance, you know you're in trouble! I arrived for a 90 min. Amadeus Massage ($130.00) The service did not meet my expectations of an upscale Spa and Salon. The Spa is old and tired.
The amenities included random store brand products. Paper napkins to wipe you hands. THE SHINE IS GONE, WHAT WAS MISSING...rolled wash cloths, cold cloths near the steam room. Fresh chilled water with sliced lemon, lime and orange in the containers. Signature products, Fresh fruit, soft music, hot water in the shower, great water pressure, and clean un-cluttered counter space to relax, apply make-up, blow-dry hair and chill-out.
The woman's locker room was dirty! The used towels were piled high in a corner on the floor, used shower slippers were scattered about. The lock on many of the lockers were broken. The shower had low water pressure and only warm water. No attendant on duty to tidy up and refresh the towels.
The 90 min. massage was relaxing. The therapist was very professional, but he was not great. I have become accustom to the high standards of Burke Williams. For the same service and cost, Amadeus doesn't compare to Burke Williams on any level. -

I have to counter some of these negative reviews!
Granted, I had a gift voucher and I went mid-week, so I didn't have to pay for my service or compete with all the TravelZoo or Groupon bookings. I was able to make an appointment on the exact day, time, and masseuse that I requested. No hassles whatsoever. I even forgot to bring in my hardcopy of the gift voucher, and was nervous I'd have to pay (and get refunded later), but it was no hassle whatsoever. Easy peasy. Super friendly and nice.
But now for the shining stars. Veronica and Lisa, you guys rock my world. I LOVED my spa experience because of them. Ah-maz-ing facial.
I went out to lunch immediately afterward and my mom commented on my face right away. I didn't look blotchy or red. My skin was calm and dewey, even after extractions. Veronica really focused on my skin type and how to address my particular needs. She's very knowledgeable and super sweet.
Lisa gives super massages, too. She was very good at checking in with me to make sure the pressure was okay, to make sure I was comfortable in every way. She focused on my tense areas (neck and shoulders), but didn't ignore the rest of my body. I felt like I got star treatment all the way through. So relaxing, I was a noodle afterwards. She kept my camomile tea on a hot plate, so when I was ready to relax in the lounge afterward, my tea was nice and warm. It was attention to detail like this that made the day so special.
As for the complaints about the rest of the facilities, I'm a bit confused. Based on the rest of these reviews, you'd think that you were going to the Eastern Bloc, like you were going to one of those run-down health spas from the turn-of-the-century. Please, people. It's not THAT bad in the ladies locker room and lounge.
I've tried spas out all over the world, for every budget, and Amadeus ranks in the middle. Not grand, but far from bottom dwelling. -

The name of this spa/salon is really cool but when you go in there it seems outdated almost messy looking, it definetly needs a face lift! I would not have gone there had I not purchased a Groupon deal..so I guess we get what we pay for..lol! The massages have been really great though and the staff is ok. They also need to their tiny locker rooms..it seemed packed when there was just 6 people in there. Overall it's ehhh..ok!

Yes, I did it...I ventured outside of my beloved Burke Williams to take advantage of this great deal through Travel Zoo. Where else can you get a 60 minute massage, 60 minute facial, served with a glass of wine and chocolate truffles for $99?
I read reviews before my day of pampering but it just left me more curious and could not wait to find out for myself. I decided to shun my BK snobbishness for just a moment to explore and compare what other spas offer.
1st STAR- Validated parking! A rare perk in and around this area of Pasadena. Convenient parking in the garage just next door.
2nd STAR- When I called in for reservations a month ago I requested a male masseuse which I normally do. They did not promise one because of how busy they get on weekends. But to my delight, I was greeted by a male masseuse. He was very mindful of my back problems from a recent car accident that I thought I should disclose. He kneaded with enough pressure to loosen the knots and tight muscles, focusing on the troubled areas, every now and then asking in a light voice if the pressure was too much. I must admit that he had his work cut-out trying to smooth out my stubborn knots but the overall outcome was great.
3rd STAR- My facial immediately followed my massage. I have to admit I was a "facial virgin" before this so I was a little excited to see what was in store. My aesthetician was very sweet and explained everything step-by-step. The light steam in my face as she lightly cleansed and exfoliated was delightfully relaxing! She educated me on the proper facial regimen which was very helpful. She offered other tips on skin care and products to recommend...drug store brands vs. department store products and the results of each. So much information! I love learning new things so this was all very well received.
4th STAR- The staff was polite and professional. The spa was quite spacious in terms of square footage. Nice that they offer not just spa services but salon services as well.
Now the "minuses". I feel the need to be objective despite the 4 stars. The "waiting room" was a bit claustrophobic, accommodating at most 4 people seated comfortably. This doesn't balance out considering how big this facility is. The dressing room area is tight. I am used to a bit more space when I'm changing. They only have 3 vanities so you may have to share your mirror space with a total stranger...which I did. Awkward! They also didn't provide curling irons which I was expecting. Aside from these observations, overall experience was great! -

I purchased the Travelzoo voucher and came here for a massage, facial and wine and chocolates. I made the mistake of waiting too long to make the appointment, so I had to settle for one of their last appointments on a Wednesday.
As far as the service goes, it was pretty good. The receptionist was nice and facialist was very detailed and super sweet. The masseuse, however, had her iPhone docked into the stereo system because her iPod died, so her phone kept on ringing during the massage....umm okay. Otherwise, she was good not great, but she could have put her phone on silent.
I never got my chocolate or wine and since I was the last one in there,I had no time to shower or use their facilities, which had towels thrown everywhere. I can't really complain too much for 99 dollars, but if they plan on continuously posting offers on different discount sites, they should staff accordingly.
If you plan on paying the full price, do not go. However with the voucher, it's worth it. -

Totally, completely disappointed. If I could give no stars I would.
Let me preface this by saying I used to be a repeat customer at this Amadeus location. I thought they were overpriced, so I found a new spa.
Recently though, three friends and I bought deals through Travelzoo for a package which included massage, facial, paraffin hand wax, and some other stuff. The deal expired in early November. I called in early October and was told that they had no available appointments AT ALL. And no alternative to fix the situation AT ALL. How is this possible? It was not as if I was calling the day before the expiration. There was a whole MONTH in which to accomodate me. Out of the four of us, only one got an appointment and then they refused to validate her parking, even though it specifically states on the voucher that they would. Horrible.
If they aren't willing/prepared to honor the terms of the deal, including accomodating all those who make an effort to redeem it, they never should have offered that deal in the first place. The first time I spoke with someone at Amadeus, they actually blamed Travelzoo for setting the expiration date. That didn't sound right to me, so I called Travelzoo myself- they said they have nothing to do with it and it is totally in the business' hands. During my second phone call, I asked if they could possibly extend the expiration date so I could redeem the voucher. She said no. I asked to talk to a manager about it and she took down my phone number but guess what? I never got a call back.
I am not the kind of person who feels the need to senselessly complain- I actually don't think I have any other negative reviews. But Amadeus is ridicuous and totally taking advantage of their customers. Of course it is in their best interest to say that they are fully booked-- they get their $$ and never have to offer the service!! -

I purchased a groupon for this spa because I live locally. It took me a week to get an appointment because they booked all the groupons for the current week (I called on a monday).
The spa facilities are nothing to rave about. Amadeus has 5 showers 1 steam room. The water in the showers got luke warm and stayed that way for my entire shower.
The massage was okay. I'd recommend saving up and going to Burke Williams cause it's worth the money. My massuse Jasmine was very nice but spent a majority of the time massaging my arms and legs. Yes I did purchase a full body massage but it would have been nice to have my back massaged for more that 10 minutes. The hot towel Jasmine put on my back got cold really quickly so it went from plesant to uncomfortable in a matter of minutes.
I like deep pressure massages which is what Jasmine gave me but she didn't get the knots out. This was my first and last visit to Amadeus spa because this is the first time I've had a massage and walked away with a sore iliac crest. -

I was very disappointed with the services here. I went with my mom and aunt as a birthday present for me with a groupon for a 5-hour spa treatment. Instead of a spa treatment, we spent majority of the time waiting around in the "quiet room" we sat for a long time. We finally asked someone when we'd receive our next treatment, a body scrub, the girl said someone would come back to get us...half an hour passes no one comes. It's getting late so we go to the front and they say we were already done for the day..but we never received our last treatment! Turns out they made a mistake and put us down for only a 3 hour spa day. So we were waiting around for nothing...they then made us reschedule to come back another day for our last treatment because there was no one there to do it..
On top of that, the services in my opinion weren't that good either. The massage was really rough and hard. I should've told her more to be gentle, the body scrub that we had to come back for on ANOTHER day was really rough!! LIke yeah it's a body scrub but wow that hurt! The manicure was ok, but I realized after I left a bubble had formed and closer inspection my french tips were off they weren't all the same size. In the changing room, my mom's locker broke and wouldn't open via combination so they needed to get a key but the key didn't work either so we had to wait for another key to finally get the locker open...there were just so many things that went wrong that day.
After the whole fiasco, and this being my first ever spa day I'd have to say I don't think I'd ever do a spa day again. Such a waste of time and money. Waay overpriced and not worth it.Listed in: Not going back.

Where to begin? I had been an Amadeus customer for 5+ years -- I went in regularly for hair cuts and color, waxing, facials, massage, etc. However, bit by bit, they have disappointed me to the point that I'll never go back.
Generally, the services I've had were quite good, but Amadeus is severely lacking in customer service... they don't even have voice mail! The facilities are average at best -- certainly not as nice at a lot of other spas.
The final straw for me was the Groupons. I bought 2 $99 Groupons for massage and facial. They expired in November. I called in September a few weeks before my birthday to try to book a Groupon massage/facial, but they told me they were booked up for a month! Near the end of October, I managed to use one Groupon, but when I tried to book the second one, they said they had no more openings before the Groupon expiry date. I told them how much trouble I'd had using my Groupons, but they couldn't have cared less.
Later, I found out from one of the spa employees that Amadeus actually hired new staff just to service the Groupon customers, and paid those staff members less than regular Amadeus staff. So, for those of you who were able to use your Groupons, you weren't even being serviced by regular Amadeus employees.
I still have a Groupon for $99, which I can now use as cash, but frankly, I've had so many bad experiences with Amadeus, I don't even know if I'll use it.
Save your money and go elsewhere. And for God's sake, don't buy their Groupons. I've heard more complaints about people who bought them and then weren't able to use them, or were disappointed in the services they received. -
Review from Angela T.
Wowzas has this place gotten a slew of horribly bad reviews--bad reviews that really concerned me prior to my massage today. I can honestly say, I don't know how anyone could be so upset.
First off--my two girlfriends and I purchased the $99 voucher from travelzoo that included a 75 minute facial, 60 massage, hand paraffin treatment, glass of wine and chocolates. WHAT A DEAL!
So we finally had our session today and we were all a bit concerned, but went in with an open mind. We were greeted right away and were lead away to go the locker room to prepare. Okay, so it's not the biggest sauna or the fanciest bathroom--but it's really just fine. A few of their lockers weren't working...but no big deal otherwise.
Aside from that, I will say that the services were beyond anything I expected and the esthetician and the masseuse-- miracle workers! First up, I had Katherine...and I love her. She was sweet and explained the whole process to me. She was gentle, yet firm with all her strokes--and I think that was really the best facial I've ever had. So very relaxing! Aside from that, the conversations I had with her really added to the experience.
Next up, Carmen for what was probably the best thing that happened to me this month. Period. She's a smaller woman, but where she gets that sort of strength is unbelievable. I love her. I don't know what I can say about her...but she was soooo amazing...I snored away at least 5 times. NO JOKE. Sooo soothing.
We finished off the night in the lounge in back with a glass of red wine and chocolates...feeling like Jello. Our bodies were limber, without a care in the world...and I can't tell you if I've ever felt so amazing.
If you've purchased a coupon--you got one heck of a deal. Our deal was worth over $250. What a bargain.
I don't have a single bad thing to say. I had an amazing experience, as did my friends. I will definitely be back and I would encourage others to give them a try. They're not Burke Williams and they're not Glenn Ivy...but they're wonderful either way. -

I've been going to Amadeus off and on for the past 10 years. Each time I've been, the body treatments (Honey Dip, Signature Massage, Kona Loofah Scrub etc..) have been top notch. However, I had started noticing a steady decline in the level of customer service at the reception desk over the years. Their gift card system was also problematic. At times the values on my cards would should $0, but luckily I had receipts for each of the cards showing what the values should be.
I too, bought the big Groupon package..and so glad I did. Each of the service treatments were awesome and they didn't have us waiting very long in between. They have made some building improvements over the years. They were in the midst of fixing their vichy showers and so offered to replace the kona loofah scrub with another treatment OR to reschedule that one treatment. No big deal.
Overall everyone was courteous and professional.
Good Job Amadeus Spa - please keep up the good work. -

"If I could give no stars I would." I completely agree with another reviewer who made that statement.
My review is only for the horrendous customer service I received on the phone while attempting to make an appointment. I was so utterly mortified by the poor customer service, I ultimately decided to request a refund from Groupon.
I purchased a Groupon despite the mediocre reviews on Yelp because I'm always on the lookout for different spas to try. I waited about 6 weeks before attempting to make an appointment because I figured there would be an initial onslaught of people attempting to redeem their vouchers. Waiting to make an appointment was completely pointless because they were still booked for over a month in advance. Very annoying but I may have been in a more understanding frame of mind if I had been told in a courteous manner. However, this was the sequence of events that occurred when I called Amadeus Spa to make an appointment:
1. Someone picked up the phone and told me to please hold. Fine. 3 minutes pass...I'm still on hold. 5 minutes have gone by at this point...I'm still on hold. After being on hold for over 8 minutes (I put the call on speakerphone and there is a timer)...I figured they forgot about me.
2. I hang up and call again. When the person said they were going to put me on hold, I asked her to please don't put me on hold since I had already been on hold for almost 10 minutes. She said sorry but I had to be put on hold because they were really busy. I was put on hold and that was that. I was then put on hold for another 5-6 minutes. I'm getting pretty annoyed at this point.
3. I hang up for the second time and call back. I tell the person that I've been put on hold twice for a combined total time of 15 minutes and I just want to find out their availability for an appointment. She was kind of apologetic and offers to take down my number and they will call give me a call back.
4. Did I receive a call back that same day? No. Did I receive a call back the next day? No. I remembered on the third day after my initial call that I never heard back, so I call Amadeus again.
5. There was no eternal hold this time but the receptionist/appointment setter was definitely not friendly throughout the call. I'm told there are no weekend appointments for the next 4 weeks. I'm not happy but I give up and decide to schedule for a weekend when there is availability. However, I'm still kept on the phone for quite some time while the receptionist/appointment setter is fiddling with the calendar trying to fit in my facial/massage services on the same day...very unprofessional but at this point, I was just glad to get an actual appointment.
THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK: After going through the ordeal of #1-5, at the end of this 4th arduous phone call to make a simple facial/massage appointment, I'm told that I will need print a copy of my Groupon voucher AND that there will be a mandatory 18% gratuity charge at the end of my services. I was very surprised and asked (1) where this was listed on the Groupon and (2) whether this 18% is calculated from the $99 cost of the Groupon.
I was told it's not listed but the 18% gratuity is mandatory on the RETAIL VALUE of the package which was listed as $200+. Wow. I always tip generously when I receive a great facial or massage but to be REQUIRED to pay an 18% gratuity on an inflated retail price without being given a choice? Ludicrous. Nowhere on the Groupon deal did it indicate there would be a mandatory 18% gratuity. I have purchased other Groupons for spas and there has never been such a policy. Gratuity is always at the customer's discretion and correlates with the how satisfied she/he is with the service(s).
Horrible customer service + ridiculous mandatory gratuity policy + mediocre/poor yelp reviews of the actual spa facilities = FAIL. -

I was super disappointed with my experience at Amadeus Spa and Salon.
My best friend purchased a package from travelzoo that included a massage, a facial, hand paraffin treatment and wine and chocolate for my birthday. We had heard that this place was one of the best day spas in Los Angeles and had even been in a few movies, so we were super excited to indulge in these treatments.
When we got there, they took us to the back and gave us robes and slip on sandals. She gave us one robe that was so small it didn't cover the body completely and one robe that was so big I was swimming in it. She asked what size sandals I would need, I said size 9. She informed me that they only had small sandals and gave me a pair that I couldn't even slip on my feet so I had to walk around bare foot, and received strange looks from all the staff, one even asked why I was bare foot.
So then I go in for my massage. He did my back, and then flipped me over, and then realized he forgot to do my legs, so flipped me over again. He massaged my right leg fully, both thigh and calf, but when he did my left leg, he did not massage my calf at all. =/ the calves are one of the best parts in my opinion.
When the massage was over, he asked if I needed to use the restroom, and I did want to before going into the facial so he lead me back to the ladies room and told me to wait in the waiting room next to the ladies room when I was done.
There is a 30 minute wait in between the massage and facial. I waited in that initial waiting room the whole time, wondering where my friend was, wondering if maybe I missed the facial, because I was not aware of how long it would be before I was to go in for the facial.
The lady finally came for me and the facial was actually wonderful. She was very nice. She had asked why I was in that waiting room though, instead of the back room, and I explained why and that I had been wondering where my friend was. She informed me that the massage therapist should have told me to go to the other waiting room since I was there with a friend. I have no complaints about the facial I had, it was wonderful. She even went looking for my friend when she was done.
So when my friend and I were reunited for the wine and chocolate at the end, I felt bad telling her that this was an overall disappointment since this was my birthday gift. But she agreed. She told me about her experience and that her facial was mostly spent in pain because the lady spent 65 out of the 75 minutes squeezing her face.
I get it that reviews are usually all from people who had bad experiences because the ones who had good experiences don't bother posting if they are happy. But this experience really did suck. We won't be coming back to this place. -

LONG STORY SHORT:
I was pleased Amadeus was able to schedule me for a same day waxing BUT it never happened.
4pm- Checked in at reception and had to seat myself. Found a new magazine to keep me busy.
4:15pm- I told the receptionist this is taking longer than usual and would impact my other appointments that evening. Nothing.
4:30pm- Still flipping through a magazine.
4:42pm- I realize I have now read the ENTIRE magazine. Patience has evaporated.
I walk to the receptionists and say I will have to cancel my 4pm appointment. She asks "what day" to which I reply "right now." She looks shocked because the time is 4:42pm! She said I'll be back, and disappeared, running into the rear of the salon. I wait for her return. Nothing. I finally just walked out of the building and left.
40 minutes...
-did the esthetician ever give notice that she was running late? NO
-did any of the 3 receptionists ever approach me while I sat there for 40 minutes? NO
What a waste of my time (45 minutes of waiting, 20 minutes of driving). -
Review from Mandi T.
I'm not sure what's going on with the awful reviews. Granted when I went to the spa to redeem my Groupon, I was braced for the worst. When it was an awesome experience. And it was a very happy birthday to me!
I got the 5 hour treatment, which included a facial, 60 minute massage, a loofah scrub, lunch, wine & chocolates
People and staff were very helpful. If you don't know your schedule, you can flag someone down and they can give you your itinerary as well as who your service provider is.
Michi was my esthetician and mani/pedi girl. Jack of all trades, this girl is. She was attentive, told me what she was doing, asked me about my concerns and was fantastic. I totally would go back if funds permitted. Also, if you book in advance, as a returning client, she gives you a 20% discount. hmm. OH, totally forgot about my hand paraffin treatment. It was ok. dipped my hand in the paraffin and it was on for about 20 minutes while I was getting my facial...
The massage was soooo awesome. My therapist (sorry babe! I'm terrible w/ names!) paid attention to my sore areas and worked on my back that I felt like buttah. yeah, buttah.
After my massage, I had a loofah scrub. Agreed that if I wanted a scrub, I would rather visit a korean scrub place and that's a real scrub. However. the Vichy showers... man. I want one of those in my house. I'm not sure how much water they waste, but I totally felt like a baby being showered for the first time. haha. :D it's pretty relaxing, but your hair, everything gets wet. I'm not sure how I felt.
Similar to the other patrons, i'm not sure if it was really "lunch". It was a "spa" salad with garbanzo beans, romaine, and cheese. er. where's the protein. If it wasn't for the pita bread, I would have starved. Then truffles and wine. mmmm. nom nom nom. Just the dessert I needed.
Lastly, my mani/pedi. They suggested that I go change out of my robe and into my regular clothes so I wouldn't smudge it. FANTASTIC Idea.
Yes the place is older, but I'm not scoping everything and saying man it's old needs repairs, etc. In addition, they were painting the men's room. hello? why not the ladies. The steam room was broken. boo, hence the one minus star, for the steam room and lunch.
If you don't know how to work the locks, read the signs it's all over. Or better yet, ask someone. I'm sure they can help you. Relax dude. That's the whole point of a spa, and not combing thru and nitpicking at minute things. :P -

I got myself the travelzoo deal a little while ago. I went after FINALLY being able to book an appointment. (They were "so fullll")
The place was Dirty: Hair, toilet paper on the floor, dust balls, you name it.
I know i went on a Saturday (one of the busiest days) but that is still no excuse! The girls at the front desk didn't know what they were doing, and seemed to be chattering rather than working.
My facial experience was nice, however, I didn't see much of a difference afterwards. So many impurities left on my skin!
Massage was good, but definitely not the greatest.
The travelzoo deal also included a glass of wine and chocolate. They sat my down after my facial and massage, in their "relaxing" area. Not so relaxing... Told me they would be right back with the wine/chocolates... But never came, I had to get up and go all the way to the front in my bathrobe asking them what was happening. "Whoops, I guess we forgot!"... I was so over it, i offered my chocolates to another lady and left.
Not worth it guys!

I received a TravelZoo Voucher from my girlfriends for my bachelorette party back in March. I finally tried to call in and schedule in July when I realized it was going to expire...only to find out I couldn't use it on Saturday. (the only day I could go) I got put on hold and the manager Katie (or Kate) came on and said she could make an exception. I was very pleased because I know businesses have to be pretty strict when it comes to those vouchers.
Before going in, I visited yelp to read some reviews and suddenly got nervous because it only had 2.5 stars. But was pleasantly surprised when I arrived for my appointment. I did not find the lobby chaotic at all. Yes, they are a business and were answering the phone and helping customers, which is normal. I immediately got called back and was shown around, given a robe and sandals and instructions on what to do next. After filling out info sheet, I met my massage therapist Melai. She was very pleasant and great at her profession. She also provided me with my Maui Salt Glow session. I have never had one and she explained every step of the way and made me feel very comfortable. I would definitely go back to see her again! Unfortunately, I did hear conversations through the wall so that was a bummer. Not Melai's fault though.
Next, Melai guided me to a resting area and provided me with a glass of water. That was where I found the source of the noise I heard through the walls. One of their clients was having a conversation on their cell phone in the quiet area. She did not even try to lower her voice when we walked in. So after Melai stepped away, I kindly informed the lady that we could hear her conversation during my session. Yes, the walls are kind of thin but, come on people, when it says quiet area, be QUIET!
Stella, my estetician came and got me for my facial next. She was funny and informative. She helped me understand my skin a lot better and provided recommendations for ongoing care. I didn't seem like an hour facial like it was supposed to be though...I don't know...I wasn't keeping time.
Then I changed and went in for my manicure and parafin wax. Trish was the manicurist. She has been with Amadeus for 23yrs. She was gentle and helped me understand what to do to care for my nails as they grow out from getting acrylics.
Overall, I had a great day at the Spa. I look forward to coming back as soon as I can. -

I got a $99 deal from Travelzoo for a couple's massage w/champagne. In the past few months, I have been trying to schedule the appointment but can not really get into their calendar due to the fact that they only have ONE couple's room. This surprised me since they made it clear on the voucher as "couple's massage"! If they only have one couple's massage room, why do you market this way? For me, it's almost a false advertising. However, I still wanted to give a try then scheduled my appointment finally on Sunday, May 29 in Memorial Day long weekend.
15 mins right before my massage appointment, I got a call from Amadeus Spa to inform me that they have to cancel this appointment since the masseuses were not even showing up. What a wonderful "surprise"! I woke up early and drove all the way to finally want to try this with my boyfriend, towards the end, I got this cancellation call from them 15 mins before my service. Honestly, as a customer, we need to cancel/change our appointment 24 hrs before the appointment. Otherwise, your voucher subject to forfeiture. However, as a business, Amadeus Spa just called me not only in the same day but 15 minutes before my appointment to cancel this appointment? This is just totally unacceptable and shows the poor management they have to run the business.
Still, I was patient enough and wanted to give another try to finally get on another appointment. I even called 2 days before to ensure my request as a couple's room for this couple's massage.
Their manager, Katie, is the one to answer the call. I expressed my frustration and disappointment through my experience on the memorial day weekend and wanted to confirm all before I even come in. However, instead of apologizing on my inconvenience, she simply put a way that " I am sure you have never run your business or deal with people, I can not control who will show up to work or not. This is beyond my control" to respond what happened to me on my original-scheduled appointment on memorial day weekend. Honestly, this is just unprofessional to begin with. I would expect the spa manager can handle it correctly and also understand what I have been through from a customer. You will never point out that my service is subject to change since I am a TRAVELZOO VOUCHER customer!
Therefore, I called Travelzoo and get a refund from this ridiculous deal. Though I didn't get to experience your service/facilities, I believe that they way Amadeus Spa advertises/markets has already shown the unprofessionalism in this business. Unfortunately, not only you didn't win the business from me, I will also not recommend your business to any of my friends.Comment from Michelle O. of Amadeus Spa & Salon 6/21/2011

Long story short, I really wanted to like this place. It is close to where I work and had the experience been half way decent I would come back. The spa (If you can call it that) is dirty, outdated, and the ladies at the reception area have NO idea what they are doing. The first time I came it was for a facial and the second time for a couples massage with my husband. The first time I waited over half and hour before they told me they had messed up on the scheduling (basically they forgot about me!). The second time I felt like we were rushed through--
The therapists have actually been decent which is the only reason this place gets the two stars. But, I will NEVER go back. I wish I would have paid attention to the reviews before I went (and then went again).
Also because of the first mess up--the second time I was supposed to get a free $15 upgrade (after asking for it) and they tried to charge me for it after my appt!! -

We purchased a $99 couples massage from travezoo. Staff was nice. Mens locker room area is outdated. When I went into the steam room I was like "Great its not on so it might take awhile to get the steam. So I turned it on and it got really hot and steamy right away. It worked great. So the Men's locker area is clean but outdated. The shower is old and they only had conditioner and body wash but no shampoo. The sink area had shaving cream but no razors. A hairbrush, but no disinfectant. The water they served tasted bad. They definitely need to invest in bottled water or filtered water.
Once we were done with the steam room we were waiting in a small sit down area for our massages. The massage people came out and introduced themselves. Very friendly and made you feel comfortable. My massage therapists name was Andrew and he did a mixture of Shiatsu and some stretching techniques which were awesome. No complaints on the massage.
Given the spa locker room is outdated, but the main thing we came for is the massages which were really good.
Once our massage was done they escorted us to a quiet room where they gave us white wine and famous amos cookies. Wine was okay but they could have given something better than Famous Amos. They also said we were all out of chocolate which should have come with the wine. We went on a Friday so one would think you would keep your supplies full for the weekend coming up.
Anyways the important thing was the massage which was great. -

I normally don't write LONG reviews but this one called for it.
Came here with a friend using our Groupon $99 for 1hr facial and 1hr massage. (they automatically add on the tip at the end $20 for facial and $17 for massage). The spa environment is 3/5. I feel like they're 'trying' to be like Burke but not (ever) achieving the same quality.
Started out with the massage 1st (can't remember her name, it wasn't a common name, and I've just kind of wanted to block the whole experience). she's NICE but that's about the only compliment I can give about her massage. She played music that was not entirely 'relaxing', it wasn't your typical rainforest or classical music, it definitely had more beats than i cared to count. And they REALLY shouldn't have placed the 'waiting'/ social area JUST RIGHT OUTSIDE the massage rooms b/c I could hear conversation and laughter coming from the outside during the whole hr. NOT.RELAXING. AT. ALL. I specified the areas that needed the most attn. 'Lather' is rather too loosely put, for the amount of 'oil' / lotion she put on me. I want to say that b/c of the amount of oil she put, she couldn't tell that there was literally 'no' pressure applied. I assumed she was just 'warming up the muscles' until she moved on to the other sections of the body. When I asked for more pressure, she said 'oh, you can take a lot of pressure'. Um.. there was basically no difference between before she applied the pressure and after the request. I never quite felt 'relaxed' b/c she didn't warm the lotion/ oil up w/ her hands 1st, so I could feel the coldness of it with each application. The icing on the cake was when she applied some form of 'BenGay', which of course, she just squeezed the gel directly onto my back, making any muscle that was remotely relaxed, freeze back up. she said 'sorry' but still continued to squeeze it on me. I have NEVER had BenGAy applied during a massage session. If I had bengay, I wouldnt' need to come to a masseuse, right?! If i had knots and tension, that's the masseuse's JOB to undue them, NOT some formulated Over the counter gel to do it! RIght?! Needless to say, my back was burning, then freezing, then burning, as she continued to 'massage' the 'front'/ anterior part of my body. My extremities were freezing from the offset sensation put off by the bengay. She would uncover one side to massage, but forget to cover it back. At the end, my knots were still there and I felt no different other than completely covered in slippery oil. And freezing. Massage: 2/5.
However, my friend DID get an awesome massage from a guy (asian), I think 'Sam' was his name. She said he did a great job getting out all her knots, was really strong, and professional.
I've given this place a redeeming 3/5 stars ONLY because my facial was great with Bertha. Super nice and informative. This was the only hr I felt 'relaxed'; 4/5 stars.
For a total of $140 tip included, it was NOT worth it. They DO give you a 20% discount on your NEXT massage, And 30% off for my next facial, which you need to use in 1 month.
Parking is comped w/ validation in the parking structure next to it. Although I only saw 4-5 spaces. perhaps there's more on another level. -

My bf and I were excited to use our $99 travelzoo deal for a facial and massage. We got a couples massage, and I have to say if this review was based on the massage alone, I would give 5 stars. Shea was great and it was one of the most relaxing massages I have ever had. The bf was really happy with his as well. But the happy ended here for me....
After our massage, we were told by the front desk girl that there was a mistake and our facials were booked at the same time with the same girl. After some discussion, we decided that the bf would get the facial and I would instead get a mani/pedi. I was told it would be complimentary since there was a mistake and could come back for a facial another time - BUT would have to book it soon because the promo was running out. Unfortunately, I am out of town the rest of the month, so it wouldn't work out. They wouldn't extend the offer even though the spa made an error. Boo.
Bf said the facial was good, although it wasn't a full 75 minutes as promised.
So when we were finished and checking out, I was less than happy when I was charged for the gel upgrade, even though the mani was complimentary and I wasn't coming back for the facial.
And four days later, the gel mani that was supposed to "last forever" according to the manicurist, chipped on three nails. I was not happy. I called the spa and they said we are sorry, sometimes the gel mani's don't work on everyone, but we will give you a 10% discount next time you come. Ugh.
I am not one to complain about this kind of stuff, but this place is not good. -

my boyfriend treated me to a massage/facial spa day at Amadeus and it was terrific! i had an amazing 1 hour massage by Lisa and a Fabulous 1 hour facial by Julie.
Everyone was really friendly and warm! in my opinion the robes could use a little clorox, but besides that, it was a great, relaxing, experience! -

$150 for a facial?? Come on now. I can't believe I even paid that much. It was the same type of facial I could get for half the price elsewhere.
Also, I got my hair done here once. Initially, I went in to get it dyed lighter (I have natural brown hair and wanted a dirty blonde look).. the lady who did my hair said it would be difficult because my hair was dark even though I told her I had only dyed it once to black and it faded away a while ago. So, she ended up just giving me a simple conditioning treatment and then a blow-dry. I was so confused. Now, after having it dyed several times, I know she was just being lazy/wrong. Weird experience. I think she was pressed for time. Still, don't give false information like that. -

I have been a customer of Amadeus for over 15 years. Even though the place seemed to be increasingly shabby I liked some of the facialists like Ingrid and Prema. However, for other services I have started to go to spas such as Detox Day Spa in Los Feliz.
After buying the $99 deal through Travelzoo for facial, massage, paraffin hand wax, etc. I will NEVER go back. NEVER. The irritation started when I received a message from Amadeus confirming my appointment and informing me that they would charge a 18% gratuity to my credit card for the services. I took a few minutes to read the terms and conditions, and then called them back to politely inform them that there was nothing in them that specified a specific gratuity, and that it was up to me to determine the appropriate amount. The person with whom I spoke insisted that no one would have said that, but I informed them that I had saved the voice mail message and would be happy to replay it to the manager.
Like others, I found the place dirty, shabby and in need of dire repair. The technicians were fine (I couldn't specify who I wanted) but nothing special. At the end, the facialist asked if I wanted wine and I asked her what type they served. She said "nothing special, just something out of a box." That summed up the entire experience.
Ladies, go elsewhere! Place has turned into a dump. -

Now I understand the really poor ratings.
I don't know if their services are good or not because I never even got that far. I purchased a Groupon deal - 1 hour massage - for my cousin and myself as a christmas gift.
I had a little trouble booking the appointment. The first time I called I was told they were booked up until the end of January. When I tried to book it, I was told they couldn't book it w/out my groupon numbers. Ok, my bad, so that night when I went home I looked up the groupon numbers so I could call again the next day.
I called the next day and the girl offers me appointments that same week (1st week of January). Hmmm, weird, thought they were all booked up for the whole month, but not gonna question my awesome luck! So I tell her book it and give her my groupon numbers. She tells me I am giving her the wrong numbers, they want the barcode numbers, not the actual groupon numbers. But she's so nice, she's willing to hold the appointments until the end of the day if I can call back with the correct numbers.
Ok, so I don't work at a desk with a computer and internet access. Long story short, I went through a LOT of trouble to find the correct numbers and and nab those appointments. Shortly afterwards, I even get a very nice phone call confirming my appointment. Yes! This is my first massage ever! I'm so excited, see you Friday! ...
So I show up Friday with my cousin (we don't live close to this place so we both drove and met there). They can't find our appointments. They tried to blame me: "Oh, your appointments were DELETED because you never called back with your groupon numbers"
Um, excuse me??? Yes I did! And someone even called me afterwards to CONFIRM my appointment.
Then they tell us, "Well, someone made an error then because they didn't make a note of it. We can squeeze one of you in." My mouth literally dropped open. ONE of us? There were 2 of us standing right in front of her, how was that supposed to work?
Or we could come back in 3-4 hours (not sure if she meant one of us or both of us). Then "well, you guys can either reschedule your appointment or ask groupon for your money back."
WOW. I couldn't even speak this whole time. I was so mortified, and I felt horrible because this was my Christmas gift to my cousin!
They screwed up, the error was on their part. They did not acknowledge our inconvenience or apologize for their error. Hell yeah, I want my money back. I am not interested in trying their services. Ever. -

I purchased a $99 voucher a few months back from Travel Zoo for a massage, facial, and paraffin hand treatment (worth $240). I was a bit skeptical about it considering the reviews here and my friend's experience with this particular spa. Why else would they give us such amazing discounts?
Let me first start out with the negatives. This spa is old. The interior and furnishings are outdated. Its kind of drabby. I don't know why they can't invest a little into updating it. The shower area, makeup area, and steam room is not nearly as nice as Burke William. The robe and slippers need some updating. Probably when it was brand new, it was the best Spa out there.
Aside from these negatives, I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. Although I dealt with some newly hired personnels there, they were all very helpful and very nice. They showed me where everything was. They provided me with the necessary information or material I needed.
Massage: The massage was pretty good. My masseuse was very good and really did a good job getting out all my knots in my muscle. She even grab my wine and chocolate for me as I waited for my facial. She took me to a bigger waiting area with magazines, water, apple, etc.
Facial and Paraffin Hand Treatment: I can tell that she was new but she did pretty well. I usually break out after a facial but haven't had one since. It was so relaxing that I fell asleep.
Overall, I am pleasantly surprise. Staffs were professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful. I will definitely consider giving it a try if another deal comes along. -

Let me start this entire thing by saying that the massage was fine...not great but the massage therapist was very nice and competent. Also, I was using a TravelZoo voucher and only paid half price, so I cannot be pissed off. However as it is valued at $220 (I paid 99) I will review it as such.
We got there and checked in and everything was fine... the place is a little worn around the edges, but not dirty or anything. They led us into the back to get our robes to change into before the therapists came to get us for our massage. However at that time they told me that there mens steam room had recently broken so there was no where for me to change and no bathroom for me to use.
Once in the therapy room, both therapists were fine, however something was wrong with the music in the room and they had to keep getting up and changing the song or fixing the music. It was very disconcerting during the massage. After the massage we were led to a quiet room and served wine and chocolates as part of the romantic couple massage, however what we had purchased was champagne and strawberries. While the switch was not really a huge deal, it was given without explanation and not what we signed up for. Once in the quiet room we were not told how to get out nor checked up on and finally we just wandered around until we found a way out.
All in all, it was fine, but it is nothing special and there are much better spas in the area. Next time I will choose them. -

I hate reading reviews where you can tell the person is a negative Nancy... I will try to be unbiased here, and give facts. Wen I read "luxury spa experience", I would never think that is what I received at Amadeus. I'm racking my brain as to WHY this place is voted the "best of" in Pasadena for years. Yes, I bought the groupon (5 hr luxury spa experience for $169 + $75 tip) and yes, by now we are all used to businesses getting slammed by groupon sales, and we as consumers have learned to go with the flow. So the 6 week wait for my appointment didn't phase me. My Sunday morning rolled around, and off I went.
Easy validated parking next door (they said this was a $10 value, but all-day parking on a Sunday was $5), confusing reception area. You walk right up to the desk to only get blank stares, then realize the SPA reception desk is behind you. Odd. Next I kept noticing how cramped the whole complex felt. You stand & get a robe & slippers right in the middle of where employees / clients are trying to walk through. Again, odd.
Locker room for all clients only had 1 working toilet (I assume employees use that toilet too since I saw one coming out). The amenities counter had used brushes w/ hair in them... very unsanitary & unsightly. The other products out for use seemed also unappealing. (this was 9 am, so locker room wasn't being used all day... this is how clean it is in the morning)
The complimentary eucalyptus steam room needs to be turned on before you go in, but the bummer was I never used it because I never knew when I had time to go in. I turned it on & poked my head in for 15 seconds before I left (but I was starving (see below), so no time to relax in there).
The 1st waiting room for the massage is ghetto. Dirty floor, dirty walls, mismatched dark furniture. Sad, fake plants, sad dark curtains... no luxury spa here. At every real luxury spa that I've been to, the water dispensers has ice & either lemon or cucumbers and a healthy SNACK station. Here, it's just room-temp water from the tap?
-1 hr massage (usually $95) - my masseuse was good. She was very very young, like straight out of high school then massage school. So her technique was textbook and strong.
-go wait in the ghetto room for 20 min (although I didn't know how long it was going to be)
- kona loofah glow scrub (usually $85/ 30 min) - I would NEVER ever pay for this here. they have tiled clinic rooms w/ shower heads coming from the ceiling as you lay on a water pillow (kinda neat). But loofah scrub was nothing special, kind of hurt, & was 20 min at most. You are SO much better off going to k-town for a full body salt scrub that lasts an hr for $60 & gets you super smooth. also the tiled room had MILDEW in the cracks. When I saw that I was grossed out. (same person as massage - she was nice & did an OK job)
-wait in ghetto waiting room for a longer time than before FREEZING bc i am wet from scrub & sitting in AC. I SHOULD HAVE SAT IN STEAM RM, RIGHT??!!
- facial/paraffin happens at the same time w/ same person (facial usually $100/ 1 hr, paraffin hand dip usually $20). The esthetician seemed knowledgeable (again young), and she used lots of nice products on me. first you get a smaller robe to put on, then you have to walk back down to a hallway alcove where you dip your hands in scented paraffin. then you walk back to your room. after the facial she peels paraffin & hands are soft.
- go wait at some odd little random table for your 'light lunch' (light lunch usually $20, glass of wine & chocolate usually $12). i am so hungry now I can't wait to eat my light lunch! After waiting 15 min at a table in a hallway (everything is in a hallway here w/ dirty walls) a green SIDE salad arrives. no veggies, no bread or croutons... a leafy SIDE salad valued at $20. right. I scarf it down I am so famished. I hate white wine but I sip it because I ended up sitting at the hallway table for 40 min. No chocolate ever made it's way to me either. so sad. after 40 min of reading ESPN Zone (bc it was the only thing there), I wondered around. I found another lukewarm water station in a less-ghetto waiting room with a big sofa & a basket that had 3 apples in it! I ate an apple in about 4 bites to fill my tummy. then covered myself with a blanket & shut my eyes on the sofa bc I was obviously still supposed to WAIT for undisclosed amt of time.
- mani pedi (usually $79 - yes that's correct). Again, nail tech was like 18 yrs old. nothing exciting about it. no nice leg/hand massage. go to any run-of-the-mill place, and it's the same. The massage chairs didn't work well, & didn't RECLINE. The foot tubs seemed clean which is important. (side note: i recently went to South Pasadena Beauty Salon on Mission and for $35 you get a mani/pedi w/ 2 people working on you with great long leg/arm massages and a massage chair that reclines in an open, airy atmosphere).
In closing I will never recommend this 5 hr spa experience. -

I haven't gone to the appointment yet, and I'm already angered by their costumer service, or lack thereof . Here's what happened:
- Made an appointment for a bachelorette "spa day" with my girlfriends nearly 2 months in advance.
- The spa called to cancel THE DAY OF the appointment because they were having sewage problems. We were bummed, especially because we were already on our way.
- I asked to schedule a new appointment. They hurried me off the phone saying they would call back with appointment times. NO CALL BACK for nearly a week.
- Finally, I called them back to reschedule. AGAIN they hurried me off the phone. When I hesitated, she assured me, "I promise, someone will call you back." Guess what, NO CALL BACK.
- I called a third time to book an appointment. At this point, I was losing my patience, but I figured they would try to make it up to me. I was wrong.
- The first person I spoke to completely ignored me. No apology. And said they couldn't fit us for another 2 months. (Keep in mind that we already waited 2 months for the first appointment that THEY canceled. AND her wedding was in a month.)
- The second person I spoke to apologized, but did nothing to help me get an appointment before my friend's wedding.
- After an hour on the phone with them, the third person finally found an appointment that worked.
- After all that disappointment, time, and grief, all they offered to make it up to us was a facial OR massage upgrade worth $25 bucks, and I HAD TO ASK FOR IT. -

I purchased a groupon for a 5 hour luxury spa day for myself & my friend. We scheduled it so we could have a few services individually...then lunch & mani/pedis together. Our appointments were at 10am.
SIDERBAR: When we walked in they never had us fill out an intake form about allergies, current medications, if you're pregnant or have certain illnesses (all those things that someone working at a spa NEEDS to know about you). I was so surprised that I asked about it and was told "no, there's nothing to fill out." All I could think was "what? why would I not need to sign some waiver of liability? that seems silly."
I was rushed through a facial, massage, body scrub, mani and pedi...one after the other...not even a second to relax in between. I didn't get to eat "lunch" until after 3:30 pm. I didn't see my friend once all day. But her day was equally unsatisfying. She had to eat lunch alone at 11 am. She had to wait an hour & a half between services. When I finally saw her again at 3:30 she still had her body scrub, mani & pedi to do! And I still didn't have lunch!
The manager was unhelpful when I explained the problem to her. The staff seemed confused the entire day. The place itself was very un-spa-like. There was no lounge or relaxation room - just a few random corners with old couches & no magazines. There was no tea or fruit - just water in big jugs - and no ice at all. The locker rooms were bare bones - no comforts or products or anything to make you want to take a cozy steam (which didn't seem to be working anyway).
The manager did nothing to compensate us for the lousy scheduling. Barely even apologized. Just acted like since she just arrived none of it was her problem. The services were decent though so we tipped the girls fairly. I will not be coming back. Ever. No wonder they had to offer a deal to get people in there. (I'm sticking with dtox in los feliz: it's a real spa for people who love spa days!) -

I received a groupon for a 5 hour luxury spa experience. It included a massage, scrub, facial, lunch and mani/pedi. The first problem came when I tried to schedule the groupon. I called right away and they said they were going to be booking those soon and they had my name on the list. I would be called back in the order I left my name to schedule the appointment. I never got a call. I finally called back to find out that they had already booked the appointments and the next available appointment for me was over 2 months away. Fine. I accepted that appointment.
A couple of days before the appointment, someone called to confirm. They asked me to arrive at the spa 15 minutes early to get changed and settled. However, they did not open the doors to the spa until 8:57 so all 8 or so of us waiting outside were quickly rushed into the change room with very little instruction.
I have agree with other reviews I have read on this site. The place was dingy. I will stop short at dirty but very close. The robe I was wearing seemed old. I understand reusing the robes for a greener establishment. I will happily use a reused clean robe. The one I had was dingy and old. It had seen many spa days and many washes. The waiting room where I spent much of my 5 hour spa day felt like my grandmother's parlor. Dark with leather furniture.
As I said, I spent a lot of time waiting with no direction. If someone had told me I would be sitting waiting for over 30 minutes for my facial, I would have happily spent some time in the steam room. But par for the day, one person would drop me off and tell me to wait. I spent 1/2 of the 5 hours waiting. I am sure they included lunch as an hour, but it doesn't take an hour to eat a simple green salad. Finally I was again picked up to go get my mani/pedi. As dark and creepy the rest of the spa may have been the mani/pedi area was bright, flourescent light bright, and cluttered. The technician actually embarrassed me by emphasizing how bad my feet were and how I really needed a good pedicure but she didn't have time today because the coupons only allow for a sampling of the services. Sampling? First I heard of that.
Overall I can't complain about the massage and facial. Both were lovely. The facility itself is sorely in need of an update. There was no cohesion between the areas and it was quite dingy. The hallways reminded me of being in a scary doctor's office. The staff was not attentive. I do not find it relaxing to spend so much of my spa experience worrying if they had forgotten about me. The lunch was an airport salad. The body scrub was laughable. If they actually charge people for that, then they should be ashamed. The mani/pedi was great, but I look forward to going back to my small "cheap" shop where they just do the work without the lecture and subsequent embarrassment. In fact, I will go back to the Olympic Spa in Koreatown where you don't get the fancy ambiance (although three hours of harp music with water flowing in the background made me want to stab myself in the ears, so not sure how relaxing that is anyway) you can get some great body work and wonderfully detoxifying/relaxing rooms/pools to use at your leisure. And cheap! If I had walked out of Amadeus having paid full price with tips for the package I received (which would have come out to over $400) I would have been quite upset. As it was, paying over $200 ($169 for the groupon and $60 for tips), my thought upon looking at my watch 5 hours later was "what a waste of time." I will not return to the Amadeus spa, nor will I ever recommend it. -

Amadeus Spa looks like complete crap I don't even get how people would walk in there. Most of the receptionists sucked and they are over priced & stupid. I don't recommend Amadeus to anyone.

No response from owner. This place will fail. Now they are running another Groupon. Doesn't Groupon care about customer experience? Apparently only about the bottom line selling groupons. that people may not be able to use or have terrible experience!

Not really happy about my experience today. I went in for a nail treatment with a new kind of gel they have that is supposed to be really good for your nails. The mani went ok (Took a long time, but sometimes I guess that's to be expected)
My problem came when I was leaving, and got grossly overcharged. $100? For a manicure? Uh...ok. I asked a couple times if she was sure about that total, and told the woman at the counter everything that I had done. She insisted that it was right. So I handed over the plastic, paid, left a nice tip and went about my business.
After I left I decided to look up the prices to verify. Just like I thought. I got super overcharged, it was supposed to be $60. SO I went back in, showed them how much it was supposed to cost and what is the answer I got? "Well, $100 is how much she said" Not apologetic at all. Maybe the manicurist padded the price to get a bigger tip? I don't know, but they finally fixed the pricing and refunded me...the whole time looking at me like I was the problem.
Um...no thanks. I can go to other spas and get a much better mani with much less 'tude on the side. I don't think I'll be returning.
