I like this place a lot. I have moved many times so unfortunately I have had to change vets a few times. Hopefully I have found my final vet, because they are really helpful. Whether I am calling them for an issue with my dog late at night or making that inevitable emergency trip they always give me the best options that fit my budget.
My favorite thing about this place (besides being 24/7) is that they never make me feel guilty or pressure me when I say that I flat out cannot afford something, instead they do everything they can to come up with an alternative solution.
I have never had to take my dog back here or any other vet because of something they have told me. They seem to be on top of their game, and they treat my dogs well.
If you need a neighborhood vet or emergency vet at a reasonable rate that is really friendly and knowledgeable then AM/PM should be your place. -

Having two dogs that are still in their puppy-energy phase means lots of accidents. For those emergency visits, we've made AM/PM our go-to emergency hospital. They are open 24/7. My dog Murphy managed to get a deep cut on his leg on a Sunday night around 9PM. They took an hour or so to see us because of the large influx of emergencies, and after examining his leg determined he needed stitches and a cone. The bill came out to be $430 dollars for the surgery, medications, cone, etc. so understand things can get steep quickly.
Although the surgery took a huge chunk of my paycheck, they were not able to begin surgery until later in the night so we left Murphy with them. Paranoid parents as we are, we called them to check up on his status in the middle of the night. The staff was responsive and understanding, calling us when he went into surgery, when he got out, and throughout the next day until we picked him up on Monday after work. I sincerely appreciate their effort in keeping Murphy content, fed, and walked until we were able to pick him up the next day (with no extra charge)! They also refunded me some money because they did not have to use some of the medication they charged me for. -

I am more than pleased with this place. Tonight, I accidentally clipped into the quick on my poor, unsuspecting pup's toe. Needless to say, blood everywhere.
I know it's not a terrible emergency but, that much blood had me in a minor panic.
To the point: we came in, were seen immediately, styptic powder applied. Done. No charge and great advice (god forbid) for "next time."
Knowing this, I won't hesitate to bring my pets here for any after-hours emergency if the need ever arises. -

The main reason I was using AM PM is exactly what the are named--you can take your animal for regular exams (not just emergencies) in the evenings and on the weekends. With a crazy work schedule this was convenient. But when my pets got seriously ill, I tried somewhere else. By going to a new vet, I realized I was WAY over paying for the convenience.
The folks at AM PM are nice, but it's not a friendly, comfortable experience. It feels more like a hospital than a friendly doctor's office. I guess because they do emergency care, the routine stuff runs like a hospital emergency room too. Their waiting room is sterile and then you wait along time in the examination room for the vet tech and then another long wait for the vet.
If you need routine animal care at a convenient time and can afford to pay the extra cost, they are okay. But if you are looking for a place totally care of your as they age or grow old, I recommend going somewhere els. -

Prompt and professional service at 1 am on Saturday night. Thanks for stitching up my kitty's nose after a nasty brawl with the neighbor cat. Price was reasonable as well. I'm grateful this business is in my neighborhood!

My dog was diagnosed over the holidays with chronic renal failure; we took him to AMPM animal hospital for some additional testing, 48hr fluids, etc.
Overall, I couldnt be happier with this vet; they had visiting hours when our pooch was going through his initial treatment. They were professional and nice through the entire process and treated my dog well. The vet techs along with the vets that I have interacted with over the phone and in person were far superior to my standard vet, which has caused us to start bringing out dog here for any remaining vet visits he has.

Dr. Stephanie M. Tobia and staff were incredibly helpful and caring when I brought in my toy poodle MIni who passed away last week. She collapsed on our walk and was gone. Friends had their pup put to sleep last year at AM PM and had nothing but good things to say about how the staff helped them through this very traumatic time.
The staff found us a room where we could say goodbye to our sweet Mini and go over options on how what to do next. They were very patient in explaining the options. I was going to do cremation with an urn. I decided later that night that I didn't want the urn and ashes and they credited my card right back for the difference.
I received a very sweet condolence letter yesterday from the doctor. I would highly recommend the staff and docs at AM PM. -

So my dog thinks that he is Mr. Invincible. He decided that tonight he would prove this by running up a wooden fence to get a cat while we were on a walk. Well his plan surprisingly fell through and his foot ended up getting stuck in a grove while the cat made its escape (with probably the biggest smirk on its face).
Well after getting home and assessing the damage I noticed a huge gash that would not stop bleeding on his leg. After playing vet for an hour I figured I might as well suck it up and find an emergency vet.
I'm happy to say that at least for me the visit was quick and painless, though my dog would adamantly disagree. The vet stapled up his foot, gave us some antibiotics and we were good to go. The price wasn't too bad either for a 24/7 vet. Knocking on wood that we won't have to go back, but if another incident occurs, I would go back to AM PM Animal Hospital in a heartbeat. -

This has become my new regular vet. Been taking Little Cat here for a couple years, ever since she had her left eye removed and needed care at odd hours.
She has had some post-operation check-ups here (though her eye-surgery was done by Austin's most wonderful animal eye specialist, Dr. Yu-Speight).
She has also had her yearly exams, her most recent being a senior exam, since she is a senior kitty.
What I like are the flexible office hours; it is easy to make an appointment same-day if desired. One time I had to cancel, and felt so bad- though the check-out secretary assured me it was no problem. I hear occasionally they get busy with real emergency animal situations, in which case you may want to re-schedule your appointment if you can't afford the time delay.
Also, it is in a convenient location.
Additionally, I just feel like all the assistants and doctors we have met have been kind, courteous, friendly, smart, and cool. I just *know* my cat is their favorite!
Multiple options are always given, and care is taken to see my cat as an individual.
I ALWAYS leave here feeling happy, -

I took my cat to Dr. Parker because she had suddenly started having accidents and leaving "little surprises" for mommy, and before I started to go through the million ways to fix behavior issues, I wanted to make sure she was healthy-and being a first time pet owner I'm sure I was more worried than I should have been.
The staff was very friendly, in particular the nurse-though, the little blonde girl that works reception has been pretty short with me everytime I go in-but the overnight staff is really helpful as well, and understanding of freaked out phone calls at 3am.
Dr, Parker is wonderful! She was very gentle and calm, and explained to me everything that needed to be done and assured me that it was very likely just an infection which would be cleared up by medicine.
When I went to check out though, I suddenly had a bill of over $200.. for two full urinary scans, ringworm tests, pre-emptive medicine, treatment medicine, follow up medicine.. on and on. It seemed like quite a few things were just tacked on, but again-not knowing any better I paid and brought my cat home.. later to find out I had been hugely overcharged-and this is even with my pet insurance! And it turned out that there was in fact nothing wrong with my cat, just a little irritated skin and stress.
I love Dr. Parker and it really sucks that I feel suckered by the price of this place, I'd love to keep going back but I really just don't have the money...
For really serious overnight emergencies, I'm sure it would be the place I'd go but for regular vet visits I'm going to have to take my business elsewhere. -

I have a very high-energy dog who recently injured her paw severely enough to require stitches. My husband and I rushed her to the 24-hour vet nearest our house (Austin Vet Care). After receiving a surgery quote that exceeded our monthly apartment rent, we high-tailed it out of that clinic and drove straight to AM/PM (after getting pain meds & bandages of course).
Although it costs $86 to walk in the door after-hours, I feel their treatment prices are reasonable enough to make up for that. Dr. Millington made our pup's paw look as good as new, kept her pain-free, and charged us $400 less than the other clinic.
We take our dog to AM PM for routine checkups too, and the daytime staff at AM PM (and especially Dr. Smith) are just as phenomenal. I am so pleased with the professional care they offer for reasonable prices. -
Review from Darla A.
If you have thousands of dollars and tons of time for a vet to do every hypochondriac test in the book, AM/PM is your place. They do not care about you or your pet, just your bank account. They charged 10 times for an EKG that my local vet did the next day $150 vs $15).
My dog Toby was sick enough that I made the mistake of taking him to this place after hours. $536 dollars in tests later, they wanted to charge me an additional $1,500+ in other tests and monitoring and led me to believe my dog would die of a heart attack if I took him home.
They send tests off to an IDEXX consulting service (sort of a vet on call by phone, e-mail). They charge an arm and a leg to do this after hours spouting (emergency results), then they say they did not agree with the expensive consult and wanted to keep him overnight and run more tests. They quoted me $1,500 and never told me there was a viable recommendation via medication from IDEXX. It was when I paid the bill and left they gave me the results from IDEXX.
After signing a release to take my Toby home, and a very long sleepless night monitoring my him, I took him to my local vet the very next day with all the test results from AM/PM's "rob you blind" package.
My Vet - Burnet Road Animal Hospital, read the expensive test results I paid for from AM/PM, then did a few tests including a $15 EKG. They charged a total of $100 dollars for my visit and did not nickel and dime the basics. They came to the same conclusion that IDEXX did and prescribed a course of medication. There are no guarantees, my Toby has heart disease. I just adopted him in February and I just love the little guy. Burnet Road Animal Hospital is compassionate and honest.
The difference: AM/PM plays on your fears, tells you every possibility (when they have no clue what is wrong) want to run tons of unnecessary tests, read you the doom and gloom and hope you whip out a credit card. When I asked them to stabilize my dog so I could take him home, they wanted to charge $1,000 for that ($100 just to hook up an IV drip, $200 extra for lidocane, my "first born" for anything else... I mean seriously.). When I pushed and said to stabilize him so I could take him home tonight - wow - a shot of lidocane $16 and change.
You never SEE what they do - because they take your pet into the back. My Vet, I got to stand there the whole time to calm my baby down.
Save your money. If someone in Austin KNOWS a compassionate, no nonsense 24 hour emergency veterinary hospital, please speak up. Stay away from this place. If you can go Monday through Friday during regular business hours - or Saturday mornings - The place to go is Burnet Road Animal Hospital.
There should be laws about gouging pet owners at these places.Listed in: No, Just No

My pup Mindy had some kind of massive GI episode tonight, after which she couldn't stop licking. She was acting completely crazy, incessantly licking everything in sight...the floor, the wall, her paws. It's Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and I guess a lot of animals were having problems, because I called Austin Vet Care and they had a 2-hour wait to see a vet. They referred me to the AM PM Animal Hospital.
I called AM PM and described Mindy's symptoms to them. They advised me to bring her in, saying that the licking meant she could be having a seizure. Of course, this sent me into a little panic, so I threw her in the car and sped to AM PM with my hand in the back seat trying to soothe her on the way. She continued to act completely bizarre the entire way there, licking and gagging, but within maybe ten minutes of arriving at AM PM, she stopped. And acted completely. normal.
Of course.
By this time, I had already signed in and filled out the paperwork and been ushered into an examination room. I sat with Mindy in the room for another 10 minutes or so...still fine. So I walked out and told the vet tech at the desk that she seemed to be OK now and that I was considering leaving. He said they could go ahead and take her vital signs just to make sure nothing was obviously amiss, but that they wouldn't charge me for the visit unless the vet actually saw her (once the vet saw her, the minimum charge would have been $81). I gratefully accepted this offer. Mindy's vital signs checked out perfectly, and they didn't charge me a cent for the visit. And another vet tech came out and gave me some suggestions about what to feed her over the next day or so and said that they would be there all night if she took a turn for the worse.
Any vet clinic that can provide compassionate treatment at 11 p.m. on a Sunday night is a winner in my book. If I ever need emergency vet care again, I won't hesitate to head to AM PM Animal Hospital. -

In a town like Austin, where well-behaved doggies prance off-leash around Zilker Park without causing their owners sheer panic, it can be hard to have a "bad dog." However, my fiance and I recently inherited Delilah, a feisty rottweiler mix who doesn't listen very well.
She barks every time she hears the neighbor's front door open and close. She pulls the covers off of us in the morning when she's ready to go out. She puts up a fight when it's time to go into her pet carrier, and then yips mournfully when she has to stay there. She has peed on our bed. She often gets gas.
But we love this dog so, so much. And we appreciate it when other people treat her well when they aren't obligated to do so.
During her first couple of visits to AM/PM Animal Hospital, the staff muzzled her because she growled at one of the vets. However, we recently saw Dr. Parker on a routine vaccination update, and she decided to give it a go sans muzzle.
She was so wonderful with our dog. She spoke to her in motherese and made funny sounds to distract her. Delilah hardly seemed to notice all the needles, and we were done in minutes. We were so pleased with Dr. Parker, and so proud of Delilah for being brave. I highly recommend this clinic, both for emergencies and routine care.
And then we went to the park! -

My animals have a habit of saving their medical emergencies for three-day weekends, so I've been to AM/PM fairly often. In my experience, it's a clinic I feel safe taking my animals to if they have pinkeye or need a few staples after a coyote attack. For a real, dire emergency, such as a hit-by-car, I'd probably choose a different clinic.
They seem to charge exorbitant prices for regular medications, and have some pretty inexperienced vets on staff, so I wouldn't want to make them my regular vet. -

The staff and doctors are friendly.
Otherwise, I did not like this place. Their prices are high, even for a vet clinic.
When my dog had an emergency, they wanted me to drop him off and just leave him there for hours before his actual procedure would have been done. Long story short ... we took my dog somewhere else who charged me less than half of what AM PM was going to, and didn't want to lock my (already scared) dog up for several hours. -

I've never seen my dog constipated. So you can understand my horror, or maybe you can't, at seeing him assume the squat position and yelping (the sound, not review writing) in pain. It sounded like he was being stabbed. I thought maybe he had eaten glass or a plastic toy that was blocking the canal. I looked at the poohole. It looked weird (as I did) and blocked, but I couldn't tell by what...cause there was a lot of poo, naturally.
So I freaked out, called AM PM, described my emergency, which I'm sure may have sounded more like a prank, and zipped Kingsley Shacklebolt on over. They saw us right away, despite having a pretty full waiting room (sorry guys, poo-hole emergency) and took Kingsley back for a full exam.
Turns out, my dog's got some long but hair, that 1. became tangled, and 2. formed a tangle/net covering his poo-hole. So basically his own butt hair was keeping him from pooping, sounds painful. But one butt shave later, and Mr. Shacklebolt was right as rain!
And since the nurse told me that while theoretically this butt net thing was likely to happen, though it never did prior to Kingsley's arrival, every time I go back, the staff will mention the hair trap poo incident. That's fine. As long as they're there in case it happens again! -

While I appreciate the fact that there is an emergency animal hospital available for urgent care 24/7 for pets, I can't even begin to appreciate the charge for a simple office visit ($86), let alone a scheduled appointment for dental work.
I took my dog in after I shockingly caught a glimpse of his rotting teeth. I panicked - and thought that getting a vets opinion pronto would be best. I walked right in, signed a form and waited about 5 minutes to see the vet.
The vet tech walked in and examined Gilbert. She said that he was definitely going to have to have teeth extracted and told me the vet would be with me shortly.
The vet (Renner) was nice. She was patient and seemed compassionate about my dogs situation. She explained too quickly (5 minutes) that the cost of the procedure is determined by the number of teeth pulled, and how difficult it is to remove them and that the back molars are typically harder to remove- which also increases the fee. I felt like within the short amount of time she met with me and my dog-she was justifying the cost of the outrageous estimate I was about to receive - not his overall welfare.
The vet tech came back into the room to give me my estimate. If I wanted him to have the procedure that night - the cost was between $800-$1400. If I waited and scheduled an appointment - the cost would be $750-$1150! Can you believe it? It's criminal.
I paid my $86 dollars and left. But before I could make it to the door - in a last minute attempt- they tried talking me into antibiotics for him - since it was "necessary" he be on them before the surgery (even though their next available appointment wasn't until November 6th). I declined and then....
I found the wonderful Animal Trustees of Austin! (see review). -

I came here over a year ago with my little Min Pin who turned purple (I mean literally her skin was purple and it's usually white) and quit breathing. It was of course right at 5pm in the middle of the week so traffic was terrible and I was terrified we wouldn't get there. I called ahead and was rushing as fast as I could to get there with a wheezing pinscher in the passenger seat. They were absolutely wonderful there! That visit I had Dr. Renner, she is lovely, and she took excellent care of my little one. At one point, the shots weren't helping and she carried her around in the back with her while she filled out paperwork so she could monitor her minute by minute. We got it handled and my little one started coming around. I couldn't have asked for a better visit. They called a few times after we left to check on her and make sure everything was ok. Since then, I refuse to go to any other emergency hospital (I had to go to one that I won't name because it was closer to me at the time and it was not good...it was during a shift change and we had to wait an hour and a half in the room before someone came and asked the same questions the front desk had already asked and then wait longer - by the time they decided to draw blood she was so dehydrated they couldn't even do it), but I digress.
The reason it's taken me this long to write the review is that I had forgotten to do so but was reminded because on Friday one of my parents dogs went to the vet (Love Pet Hospital - we love them too) and was sent to an eye doctor and went into emergency surgery Friday afternoon. We had to set up an emergency stay immediately following her surgery because she has a heart problem and needed to be monitored closely and be hooked up to a heart monitor all night. My parents usually use Central Texas - but they don't open till 6:30pm and clost at 7:00am so we weren't able to get any answers from anyone on if it was possible for her to stay there and we couldn't wait till they opened since she would be out of surgery already and then in the morning she would have to be transferred somewhere else, not really ideal healing procedure after surgery....so I told them they should try AM/PM since I had such a wonderful experience there. I called and Marjorie answered and she was wonderful and helped us with everything. She answered all our questions and booked us an appointment and told the doctors we would be coming in. My parents were supposed to be there in time to see Dr. Parker, who is also wonderful, but of course it took much longer than anticipated to pick up Barbie from the eye doctor and so she saw Dr. Millington, who was wonderful they told me. They assured my parents everything would be fine and they called back almost immediately to tell us that the eye doctor had left out some of the medications that they were supposed to have received. I love it, because most places wouldn't catch that until it was time to administer medicine but this shows they were going over all the information and even caught the mistake of the other vet. They were wonderful in calling the eye doctor for us and helping us get it handled - which had to wait to till the next day since the eye doctor wouldn't answer.
They took WONDERFUL care of Barbie and called promptly twice a day to give a report on how she was doing. My parents told me that won't ever go anywhere else after this experience. It couldn't have gone smoother for her first days out of surgery. I even had pictures sent me to after she got settled (a friend of mine works there and thought we would want to see her situated). She looked so happy and comfortable. Definitely try this place, I hope you don't have to but if you have an emergency definitely come here! It was extremely reasonable pricing, especially to be monitored hourly and on a heart monitor for 24 hours and have meds given almost hourly. Wonderful place!!!! Thank you AM/PM and all of your staff!!!! -

So, our black lab swallowed a peach pit last week and got it lodged in her upper GI. After several agonizing minutes of watching her vomit and go into convulsions the other night we rushed her to the only emergency animal clinic open that we knew of at 1:00am (it's a 24 hour service). There was *actually* a staff there - not only that - a knowledgeable & caring staff to boot (and this was a SUNDAY night)!
Long story short they had her in intensive care running x-rays (no sonagrams at that hour - that person usually needs to be scheduled a day in advance) and putting her on an IV drip for dehydration and antibiotics for infection.
She ended up coughing up the pit the next morning (saving herself some brutal exploratory surgery) but I have no doubt had it gotten much worse she would have been in good hands.
CAVEAT EMPTOR: pet doctors are expen$$$ive - AM PM is certainly no different.
We were "lucky" and only walked away with a $900 bill. Had she the surgery it would have put us well over $2,300.00! Pet insurance anyone?
That said AM PM offers a credit system if you just can't front that type of cash but love your dog or cat like family - like we do. They will also provide you with a very detailed invoice of what and why they did what they did.
We were told to ask for Dr. Parker if at all possible (she usually works during the day time though) but Dr. Renner (our dog's doctor) was very decent and helpful, as well.
My only complaint was they were really pushing surgery even after we implored them to take a more watchful approach by possibly inducing the dog to "move" the object by less invasive means (laxatives, hydration, whatever). No doubt they were acting out of the dog's best interest and their own experience but nature did, in fact, take its course and our puppy lived to tell the tale (sorry, had to say it...).
In fact, she's out pooping in the back yard as I type - and that's a good thing - a very good thing!
I'm certain having her internal organs tampered with unnecessarily would have given her a life time of problems and should only be an absolute last resort action in my opinion.
If you choose to wait on the operation they will have you sign the proper paperwork waiving any responsibility, naturally, but use your better judgment here as always. Again, they are erring on the side of reason and what's best for the animal but sometimes a dose of good old common sense doesn't hurt either.
One more minor gripe/concern: The sonagram/ultrasound was urged by AM PM because the x-rays really didn't help discern what the object actually was - but it did show *something* was there. They kind of pushed the sonagram despite our skepticism of it being needed, and it would have upped the over all price another $430.00 - and for what? To tell us it was really-really a peach pit? Again, not discrediting their philosophy but by refusing a lot of those just-to-be-sure precautions we not only saved over $1,500 bucks but our puppy's life was spared, too... Hand of God? Good fortune? Maybe. But still...
Not suggesting you act foolishly by any means but always take a minute (yes, even in these very emotionally charged, crisis-inspired moments!) to think through what they are asking and then determining yourself what may truly only be necessary.
OK, my critical voice is done knit-picking - I still very much give AM PM Vet two thumbs way up (I laughed, I cried - literally); they are competent, caring and their service for pets is heroic (esp. their overnight hours!).
Kudos. Woof! Woof! -

I took my dog here after some serious GI issues on a Saturday and not only were the folks friendly, but I was seen promptly and a diagnosis was presented clearly and calmly. There was no pressure to buy the drugs they presented or the special prescription food, and that's probably why I bought it.
I wouldn't pay any attention to the "these people are EVIL" reviews. -

Just started bringing my puppy here, not as emergency but just for daytime visits. The staff is nice, friendly, and polite. The vet we saw (Renner) was perfect. I have a fearful dog and she babytalked with him, then got down on the floor instead of making me put him up on the exam table.
The price was a little intense to me, but I haven't been to a vet in years and don't know how it compares to others. The only thing that bothered me if my baby had a rash which was misdiagnosed on our first visit... no big deal either way and the antibiotics couldn't hurt him, but when I got him diagnosed correctly they still charged me for the second visit and both medications - the right one and the wrong one. I don't really think I should have to pay for a medication that didn't work because the doc called it wrong. -

A little update on AM PM. While I still LOVE Dr. Parker, some of the other vets and vet techs can be a bit alarmist when it comes to setting expectations on treatments. For example, when I scheduled my dog for a routine teeth cleaning (her first and she's 7 years old), the estimate they gave me included a range for anesthesia depending on whether or not extractions were necessary. I understand that sometimes a tooth needs to come out, so there was no need to elaborate. More than one vet tech let me know that a dog came in for a cleaning the week before and had to have 13 teeth removed. Not the best detail to share. Made me a bit nervous for absolutely no reason.

I started taking my (dearly missed) pup Mrs Mia Wallace here years ago because of the availability of evening and weekend appointments, and I liked them enough to stick around and use them as my regular vet.
Perhaps I don't have a great one on one relationship with any one particular vet at this practice, but they have been nothing but professional, caring, understanding and completely honest with me, especially during the time that Mia started having liver issues.
I take my new pup here now, and will continue to unless I encounter any problems with them. The only issue I ever encounter is longer than average waits due to the fact that this is an emergency vet as well, and may have drop-in urgent cases...but that is to be expected. -

We have little chihuahuas who despite their tuff behavior are quite delicate. We have used AMPM for a number various emergencies between our two little ones and found the services thorough and caring. We boarded them while we went out of town and you could tell they had been loved by the staff-- they even came out with little bandanas on! Although we see another vet for regular visits and daycare, this place has been a literal life saver many times over!

I came here when my little American Eskimo started vomiting in the middle of the night on a weekend. The cost was very reasonable for a midnight visit, only $100 for the exam and medicine. They were very kind and took excellent care of my dog. Someone from the office even called the next day to make sure she was fine. Also, when I brought my dog back to the clinic a month later for something else, the vet tech remembered her! The people here genuinely care, I highly recommend them!

I no longer use AM/PM as my check-up physician, but I am grateful to have an emergency vet so close to my home, as my dogs are idiots.
Case in point, when you return from St. Lucia and are too exhausted to unpack your bag that night, and your dog somehow unzips your suitcase at 2 am and eats a half pound stick of pure cocoa you brought home, you want a 24 hour emergency vet nearby.
When you're walking down the street and the neighbor's dog breaks off its chain (!) and charges your dog, mauling its butt before you can kick the bejesus out of it, you want a 24 hour emergency vet nearby.
But when you just want the same medicine your cat's been getting for years and years (and years) and they give no refills on the prescription and make you come in for an appointment every time you need it, you do not want aforementioned 24 hour emergency vet nearby.
Keep their number and address in your cell phone, just in case. Take your pet to a different vet for maintenance visits. -

There open 24 hours and have literally saved my cats life twice! Once with a part of a cat toy stuck inside him and the second time with bladder issues. Massive work and extended stays at the hospital are never cheep...but Ratchet is alive and fat and happy because of the crew at AM/PM. They did a nice job at itemizing the work done and what your paying for. They even knocked the bill down a little on each of my emergencies after everything turned out well. They'll take good care of your critters!

I would tell you I think this place is totally mediocre and over-priced, has high turnover, and should be avoided for any non-emergencies, but they did help out in an emergency and pump my dog Lincoln's stomach after he decided to eat an ant poison stake. And he even seemed to enjoy it. Seriously, he came out all smiles, in a bandanna, which he loved. He thought he was big pimpin'. They told me that he'd been getting belly rubs and love and attention. I guess that's kind of awesome, but also--really--my dog shouldn't enjoy a horrible procedure that came about from eating poison--don't give him any ideas. I can't afford it.

This hospital and its staff are wonderful! The first time went was an emergency visit and they were so nice, professional, and gave excellent care and treatment to our dog. After this visit, we decided to make AM PM our vet and have been taking our cats and dogs to them for regular check-ups and shots, emergencies, and serious illnesses. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Parker, Dr. Renner, and the entire staff for anyones veternarian care.

I've gone to AM/PM for over 11 years. Here are the Pros & Cons in MY OPINION:
Pros:
Your pet will receive competent veterinarian care at AM/PM.
AM/PM is on top of the latest and greatest treatments including out-of-the-ordinary lab tests.
Along with the state-of-the-art lab tests, AM/PM can also most likely diagnosis the out-of-the ordinary pet ailments, and they are a good source for emergency pet care.
For the most part, the vets at AM/PM have great personalities.
They are open long hours, and they make/take routine appointments in the evening, which is helpful to those who work during the day.
Cons:
It may take 2 hours (no exaggeration) to get your pet in and out for a routine visit. This happened to me recently, and this was not the first time I've had to wait for more than an hour. However, there may be a valid reason to wait (someone's pet needed emergency care) but you never really know.
Don't expect AM/PM to worry about your expenses. They may like pets, but they are a business and are in it to make money.
AM/PM is expensive in my opinion. It's not that their routine office appointments are expensive, it's that they charge you for anything outside of the office visit, and it's common, at least for me, to come out paying A LOT more than I expected.
AM/PM won't hesitate to suggest performing any and all tests (instead of one test at a time) to diagnose your pet. Again, inmy opinion, they don't think of your pocketbook. Even if the same cure exists for two different ailments, they often suggest you test for both beforehand. In my opinion, they rarely make an educated guess as old school vets do before treatment. Bottomline: They test, test, test and tests are very expensive.
Each pet requires paying for a separate visit. Example: If you take in two cats at the same time, expect to pay for two separate office visits, even if they have the same problem. Also, you must schedule TWO office visits beforehand, not one, or expect to pay for their emergency care office visit which costs more. Example: Fred, the cat, has diarrhea so you make an appointment and then decide to take Duchess because she suddenly has diarrhea too. You expect to pay for two visits at $45/each. You are charged for a routine $45 visit and then $80.00 for an emergency visit for Duchess because you didn't schedule it beforehand, even though you took them at the same time, and they were seen together.
I write the above having used AM/PM to treat five pets over 11 years.
In the past, you could go to the vet and your office visit would include the cost of the vet doing in-house screening (example - looking at a stool sample for parasites), but this does not appear to be the case with AM/PM.
My suggestion: Use a less expensive vet for the routine stuff and use AM/PM as a back-up when your regular vet is unavailable or the pet problem is an emergency, unusual, and/or hard to diagnose. -

DO NOT GO HERE! The people here do not care about the animals - its all about the $$$! Before they even agree to see your pet (even if its an emergency situation!!) they draw up an estimate and I shit you not, bring it in for you to sign, ALL before they will even see your pet. Its a real shame and it just goes to show where their priorities are at. I've never ever been to such a horrible vet establishment. They were cold and not very helpful at all. They acted as if I was an inconvenience asking questions about my dog and her health. Just do yourself a favor and find another vet!!

My pup was suffering from wheezing, panting and shaking and the good people at AM/PM were quick to help. They told me to bring her in right away and they had an appointment slot just 30 minutes after my call. Other local vets couldn't see me until tomorrow. Dr. Smith was friendly and efficient, and as a side note, stylish! I will definitely be going back whenever my dog needs a good check-up.

Thank God (or goddess or whatever you believe in) there's a place like this for pet owners who freak out on the weekends or at night when they see something's wrong with their beloved. My dog's eye was ungodly red and shut and I freaked out on a Sunday night. These guys were great, the vet tech was calming, and overall they were professional.

it has been interesting to read the reviews here - definitely food for thought.
my limited experience here has been good - jasper (3.5 yo great dane), fortunately, has very few health issues or emergencies (knock on wood) so i take him here for his routine vaccinations - i like that IF there were to be some sort of emergency situation, they have all his information already on file - one less thing to do in a stressful situation.
every time we go, we do see someone different. some people do not like this but i seem to get friendly, helpful, knowledgeable vets - they are always giving me good feedback about jasper's health etc or tips on ear-cleaning or whatever --- so i don't really mind.
i really feel for people who have had bad experiences here with their beloved pets - it is distressing enough to have a pet become ill or be in a dire situation --- to then not get the proper care one would expect from a animal care facility.
i will absolutely take heed to the other reviewers here - but for now, they have always been fine for our current needs.
yes, it is expensive for just regular stuff - i can't imagine how expensive real emergency treatments are. they are probably expensive everywhere though - unsure.
i have pet insurance for jasper so i am able to get reimbursed for wellness / vaccination visits. (it covers emergencies as well.) i highly recommend insurance for your pets - reading this thread reconfirmed my decision to maintain it. -

I don't have much experince going to vet offices, so I can't really compare, but I like this one. The staff is friendly and my puppy feels comfortable when going. The vets and the techs are really great with my little man (Chihuahua). The prices seem reasonable for the great care my puppy gets. Highly recommended.

Shortly after getting our puppy, she got very sick and needed care on a weekend. Dr. Parker and her staff were so genuinely helpful and kind. The office is not very close to my house and I will only be using it in emergency situations, but if it were closer to my house, I'd be happy to make Dr. Parker my full-time vet. There's also a lot of comfort in the fact that it's a 24 hour clinic.

I should have reviewed this place a long time ago. We have been coming to AM PM for almost 4 years and always have a pleasant experience. Otis and I especially like Dr. Parker, and the other staff members are attentive and friendly. It is worth a lot to find vet care that is convenient, trustworthy, and reliable. Thanks!!
