Yes this hotel is that awesome, 5 stars worthy.
Came here with my partner in crime for the Blues and Brews festival at the day lodge and we reserved a room on the second floor. The view of the mountain was beautiful but there was a smokestack (?) in 1/3 of the view's way. Don't stay in room 256 if this is bothersome to you. The bed was so comfortable I could have lived in it. Would have ate at the 7 glaciers but it was closed, but after reading the other reviews here on yelp maybe that was a good thing.
Come out for a romantic evening and great sleep on an awesome bed. -

Anchorage's best hope for escaping another average weekend. Alyeska Prince is a high quality hotel featuring great location, great views, great staff and all the amenities you expect from a resort destination. Rooms are clean and comfortable and include bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, magazines, tv/cable and big fat cloud-soft beds.
The hotel has several restaurants and a moody bar with complete with a fireside lounge perfect for your post-ski whiskey. Room service is available, or hit the gift store for souvenirs and midnight snacks. Take advantage of the fitness center with it's high cedar ceiling amplifying the joy of the pool/hot tub/sauna below. (Also available with a day pass).
It's a little like the Shining, but go with a lot of friends and remember that ghosts like to party, too. There are plenty of nearby trails to explore year round, and it's only 38 miles away... what are you waiting for? -

Amazing hotel, wonderful room and great view of Mt. Alyeska. Great restaurant on top of the mountain. Good restaurants in the hotel and really friendly staff at bar. We enjoyed the time we spent here and felt like we were in a Swiss village. We booked a helicopter ride from this hotel and it was the most awesome experience. If ever back in Alaska, I will be back.
Highly recommend this beautiful establishment.... -

I have stayed her 3 times over 3 years and am always impressed with the ambiance and service. The rooms are very Euro-decor , with rich wood trim, down comforters, towel warmers, turn down service and chocolates...everything but a microwave. The only thing I would add to the other reviews is that the staff is always top notch. They are super friendly, professional and helpful. For instance - I had a room with two beds and only wanted one, so I asked and they found me a king room. Then, the new room was really hot and I could see the thermostat was broke. The desk agent moved me again with just a phone call and without even uttering a sigh of discontent. Very cool. I don't sleep well in hotels, even the nicest ones, so sometimes I get "picky". I try hard not to, but it happens, and the desk guy handled bitchy ME without a problem! Gorgeous views from both sides of the hotel but when it snows, you will hear the plows and delivery trucks early in the wee hours of the morning and that is the only thing about this place that sucks. But hey, it comes with the territory and you only notice it because most of the time it's dead silent.
It doesn't remind me of the hotel in "The Shining" - I always refer to it as "Hogwarts". -

It was a great hotel! We hiked down from top of the mountain it was beautiful. I you stay in Girdwood you should stay at the Alyeska. It was the best hotel I stayed at, in Alaska. I had a great time there.
