I ate at this restaurant last year, and felt it was very nice, with a great view - but over-priced.  I think that opinion still stands for Mon-Wed and Fri-Sat.

Recently they introduced a $20.12 fixed price option on Thursdays and Sundays with a limited menu of meals similar to those on the regular menu.  At that price Alure is well worth a visit.  We will be going back regularly for as long as the deal continues. And allowing me to make a reservation means that they now take my business seriously.

Overlooking the bay, Alure has a great setting.  As you enter the restaurant,  the newly constructed deck and bar give you the impression that someone finally got it right for this location.  The sheer number of waitstaff and bussers also made us think that they were taking service very seriously.  The setting and service did not dissapoint.  However, the food did (at least partially).  We had the fish taco and beet salad to start.  Both were excellent.  For our entrees we had the "grilled" swordfish and the New York strip.  The swordfish appeared to be pan seared, not grilled, but it was still very good.  We would have liked more mango salsa.  The dish did hit the right balance between sweet and spicy.  We would order it again.

The steak, on the other hand, was just plain bad. In their defense the non-seafood section of the menu is under the rubric "If you must..." In my opinion you absolutey must not.   The steak was full of gristle -- very tough and sinewy.  The poor quality cut aside, it's preparation left something to be desired too.  New York strip only requires the judicious application of salt and pepper to make its flavors pop.  The quality of the cut and the preparation left me feeling underwhelmed and overcharged.  Their preparation (at about $30, mind you) left me feeling a bit queasy, both figuratively and literally.

Our second visit was improved, but we "steer-ed" clear of the non-seafood offerings, and we were much happier.

Overall, I give Alure props for bringing good service to a great setting.  But stick with the seafood and bring some extra cash.

We had an amazing meal. The place is beautiful and has a fantastic view. I ha mussels that were delicious and as render as it gets. Then coconut encrusted flounder, and flour less chocolate cake with salted Carmel sauce. What a meal! My husband were equally happy with his meal which was a salad, pork tenderloin, and the same dessert. I highly recommend.

Alure offers beautiful views and a nicely decorated new space. The restaurant wasn't busy when my group arrived around 9pm, but we still had to wait to be seated.

We had a sassy and very opinionated waitress, who was very helpful in ordering... She steered us towards the best few dishes. The standouts were the red curry mussels, sea bass, and the lobster penne. Don't order the fried oysters, they just tasted like fried nothingness. I wish this restaurant was more of an old-fashioned seafood restaurant. Instead, the chef is very focused on including as many elements as possible into each dish, which doesn't completely make sense. While the dishes I tried were good, I have no interest at all in the rest of the menu.

My biggest complaint is that the outdoor seating was barely lighted at all. We literally had to use the flashlight app on someone's iPhone to read the menu, and it's pretty hard to eat when you can't see your food. I think it would be pretty simple to string up some Christmas lights or buy some additional candles.

We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in the fall. The restaurant is nice and newly-redecorated, and has lots of seats, both inside and out. It was a beautiful late-summer day, so we sat outside.

I had the salmon salad (filet of salmon over an arugula salad with sesame seeds), and it was phenomenal. My aunt had the mussels, which come with a delicious curry-like sauce. My only complaint on the mussels is that they should be served with fries. Otherwise, you're not getting much of a meal.

For dessert we had the Catapano goat cheese and ginger tart with blueberry sauce, which was quite good, although you should be sure to enjoy ginger, because there's a lot of it. We also had the "chocolate 'bag'", which is apparently the specialty of "A Mano", the Mattituck restaurant with the same owners. The chocolate bag was good, but is more visually appealing than delicious in my opinion, because it comes with bananas, and I'm not a fan of mixing my fruit and my chocolate.

All-told, this is a beautiful restaurant for a nice meal. If the weather's nice, it's great to sit outside.

Bring a fly swatter. You'll need it with all flies and bugs crawling and flying around.

I came here over the summer with a few friends on a bad stormy night... the service and the food wasn't so bad.  In fact we loved the food but just thought it was a bit overpriced.  However, I came back with my parents this past weekend.  First of all we asked if we could sit outside along the water to which the hostess replied that there was a party going on and sat us along the window overloooking the water, by the fire exit.  Well here's the problem.

1- That back area was filled with 100s of flies flying around, it was disgusting to look at and sit and enjoy our meal.  Almost made us wonder about the sanitary issues they have may have, considering we come from a restaurant background and chains of restaurants in Manhattan.

2- There was no party going on outside.  People were being seated on problem.

Due to the fly infestation, we were not able to enjoy our food.  In fact the quality of it was just so amazingly disappointing we opted to never come back again.  They went from a 5 to 0 in just 2 visits.  Amazing, right?

When we told the Manager about the fly infestation problem, he had no answer.  Instead just comped our desserts, which by the way was not even warm the way it was supposed to be!!!!!!

I have now searched for the owner's e-mail and have alerted him the problem.  Considering he is rarely ever at his restaurant and as a restaurant owner myself, I believe in fairness he should have the right to know what goes on.  He should fire the manager for not fixing this problem almost immediately.  I feel bad for hte family of 6 that had to get sit right where the infestation problem was coming itself.

Unfortunately, now all of our friends and family out there have now found out about our unfortunate experience and have opted to never return again.

Beautiful Space, needs to fine tune.
It's nice to see this space alive again and although Alure is no Seafood Barge, it was an O.K. experience.

The service on a weeknight was spotty, and little things like the hostess being overwhelmed when things got busy, and bus boys that did not seem to get what they are supposed to do.

Food was good, not outstanding, but good. Sword Fish came out cooked well, but a very small portion for the money, ditto for a great gumbo that is offered as a starter.

My biggest turn off was a prominent note on the menu about how lobster should be prepared.  Special note to T.S. (the chef owner), if I want my lobster grilled, or broiled, DO IT !   Who on the green earth do you think
    you are.

Husband and I shared three appetizers for lunch.  Mussels in Thai curry sauce (wonderful), crab cake (good but not as good as my own) and calamari which were the best ever.  Very fresh, not covered in a thick batter.  so good.
