I came here yesterday to talk to someone in regards to building my own fixed gear bike.

Ron was awesome!  He answered all of my dumb/redundant questions for over 30 minutes.  They recently added more affordable fixed gear bikes.  They also have their own clothing line and a variety of bike parts as well.

Stop by and check them out if you're interested in getting a fixed gear bike.  I'm definitely coming back and ordering/building my bike with Ron at Altruistic!

yeah, this place has 5 stars...for having absolutely the WORST customer service that i have EVER encountered. waited a week & a half for getting a rim laced for my boyfriend! SERIOUSLY?! first of all, i know nothing about bikes but i know it doesn't take THAT long. if another place can get it done in 20-30 minutes, i know for sure it doesn't take a WEEK and a HALF for that. if you can't get something done, SAY IT, dont give false hope & say it'll be done at a certain time & then sure enough its not done. for a week and a half we've been getting responses like "oh, i haven't started on it yet.'' or "it'll be done tomorrow @ 4:00" or "it'll be done in 30 minutes." or "i had to do their stuff first." OKAY i understand if you're busy BUT SERIOUSLY?! don't tell a customer that their stuff will be done & YOU HAVE NOT EVEN PUT THE SMALLEST WORK INTO IT!

i'm sorry but a response of "in a little bit" just really sucks. i was really upset. this place really sucks & am not satisfied with the service i had today. i was promised that it will be done tomorrow, & whether it is or isnt, i will let them know how much their customer service sucks. yeah, i can take my business elsewhere & i sure will. this was our first time getting something done their & I AM CERTAIN that this will be THE LAST.

** in case anyone was wondering why i rated it 5 stars, it's because i want to this post to be seen & if it is rated top, it should be at the top of the list of the reviews. so yeah 5 stars....sure.

I actually came here when the spot was opened on its second day. This place is very legit and are not like most snobs shops that you go to. They have quality shirts and sweaters and the best part of their shop is the fixie part. Man Ron hooked me up and filled me in when it came to fixies. If your new at fixies and want info and service go here because you will get both. Trust me I wouldnt come here if they were dicks. GOOD PEOPLE GOOD KNOWLEDGE GOOD FIXIES!!!!!

driving down though old torrance, i happened to see a little store on the corner with a sign that says "altruistic". my first thought was "what the heck does "altruistic" mean?". my second thought was "where can i park my car-- i gotta check this place out" :]

once inside, i definitely knew i stumbled upon something good. the shop had a good variety of tees, jeans and hats. the brands ranged from alphanumeric to in4mation-- a favorite brand of mine that i havent been able to really find outside of hawaii. although most of the clothes were for guys, i knew that i would definitely be back here soon. i know what youre thinking, "youre a girl, how could you like a shop with only guys clothes?" well, come on-- girls have to keep their guys looking fresh, so coming here to buy a few anniversary and birthday gifts is a way better idea than looking through the shelves at active and paying for shipping through karmaloop. oh snaps, did i mention that this place also is a skate shop? yes sir! and recently they just started to carry fixed gear bikes! definitely something to check out. the guys that work here are extremely knowledgeable about bikes and can help you out with any questions you might have.

what makes altruistic even better are the people that work there. every time that i have stopped by the shop, i have always felt welcomed--  the kind of people that ask you how's it going and actually mean it.

so if youre in the area, you should definitely check it out! even if youre not in the area, you should still check it out! i guarantee that you wont be disappointed! :]
