Great food, but extremely slow service. We came to dinner during our stay at the Resort. The restaurant is nice for the area and there is a small, but decent bar area.
We had pretty much everything on the winter menu. I dont recall being blown away by any of the dishes, but that each dish was very tasty. We ordered three t-bones, but our server told us that they only had the T-bones without the bone?? In any case, we got them and all were overcooked. My dining companions were too famished to send their meat back, but I did. When the server came back, she offered me the last T-bone (with a bone) she found in the back of the fridge ??? The second steak
was cooked much better, perhaps the bone had something to do with how long to cook it, you think?
My biggest problem with this restaurant was that the food came out a different times and it took over an 1 1/2 hours for our food to arrive after it was ordered. Our children's food came out last, very unusual.
We were also charged for something we ordered, but never got. Since the food came out at various times, we did not know to ask about it until we had finished our entrees. Overcharging is a big no no for us when deciding the tip. Our server noticed our frustrations, apologized and gave us her employee discount. We really appreciated that so didn't fault the server.
For a nicer, established restaurant, I expected better service and work flow. The food is deinitely worth a try if you have lots of time to kill. -

So The food here was over all pretty good but the service is hit or miss.
We had the Thanksgiving buffet that was $38.00/each with a 21% gratuity added.
It was a buffet so some of it was good and some not as good.
Brunch the next morning the service was super slow despite the fact that there were 3 server and one support attending to no more then 6 tables but it still took them about 10 mins to even get our drink order. The waitress was nice just slow...
We came back for Happy Hour and the service was great, selection was very limited... there was quite a few things missing from the online Happy Hour menu and the Happy Hour Food was just OK.
We came back to the main dining and had a nice young brunette who served up. Though she was the only server she was on top of everything as well as being super friendly. The portion was a little on the small side but the taste was good. The Scallops though were a little to peppery were cooked well but a slightly over cooked. -

I was a bit caught off guard by how TGI Friday's the menu of this supposed 5 Star restaurant was. I had Friday night dinner there over July 4th weekend, and the place was a ghost town, save the loud (read:drunk) quartet of sextegenarian golfers seated in the booth next to us. Their pretentiousness was appaling, save the few choice sound bytes of one complaining that the fennel roulade was to fennely and repeatedly misprounouncing Chevre.
Then menu is limited and pretty basic. You pretty much choose between burgers or steaks, with one fish or pasta option thrown in for good measure. The salmon was just ok. The asparagus a bit overcooked, but I LURVE asparagus, so I gobbled it up. The rice pilaf seemed like it was cooked in butter instead of water. Every bite I took went squish-squish, which at first was a novelty...but really, you can only eat so much butter before you start to gag.
DH had the steak and spawn had the burger. they both voted 3 on a scale of 1-5. If you are looking for a good burger or a juicy steak, head on over to the Inn-Between restatuant instead. Their burgers and steaks rock! -

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from this restaurant. There were mixed reviews on both here and tripadvisor.
But I went ahead and made reservations anyway - since we were staying at the resort and weren't sure where else there was to go in the tiny town of Welches.
Errmmm...I don't think I'd recommend eating dinner here. While our server, Ryan, was super friendly, the food itself was...ok. Not great, just ok.
Mushroom risotto - flavourful, but a wee on the mushy, sticky side (and not in a risotto kind of way).
Shrimp papardelle - the one dish of the nite I thought was excellent.
Squash bisque - I've decided I don't like soups that have a weird sweet aftertaste to them. So I think I would pass on this.
Caesar salad - too much dressing. The flavour would've been good had it been a little...less.
Beet salad - basic, w/ heirloom beets, quite good.
Obisdian stout chocolate cake - dense, tasty - you really can't f*ck up chocolate, can you?
We split a bottle of Stag's Leap petite syrah, which made everything better. :)
**While I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner, maybe trying lunch - as their seafood salad and fish 'n' chips were tasty. -

Food was acceptable, but the service was just miserable. We were staying at the resort and just decided to go someplace else for the rest of our meals after a mediocre dinner and a lousy breakfast.

We found a room service menu on the back of the grounds map that the front desk furnished us at check-in and decided to use our $40 Groupon credit towards dinner in our room. We ordered $65 worth - a steak, a trout entree, a ceaser salad, and two soft drinks.
First, calling the restaurant to order was haphazard and awkward. I wasn't asked how I'd like my steak to be cooked or which sides I would like with my entrees.
Second, I was told it would take 25-35 minutes and it took over an hour. They recruited the nice young lady from the front desk to deliver us our meals but neglected to inform her of our entire order so she had to run back for our salad and soft drinks. They had also given her an empty bottle of steak sauce for us that had to be replaced for a new one - this one also almost empty. Since she worked at the front desk she was able to take the salad and soft drinks off our bill so that's good.
Third, the food was all cold. The steak was rubbery from sitting at room temp for too long, and the trout was a bit dry.
Fourth, the gal on the phone when I ordered did not inform me of the $10 room service charge that we were surprised with at check-out. -

The food was disgusting. Sauces on the ravioli and steak were so sweet that they made the dishes nearly inedible. The steak was overcooked. The gnocchi and ravioli tasted microwaved and the rehydrated mushrooms in the gnocchi dish had the texture of snot. They even messed up macaroni and cheese - completely bland, gritty and thin. Our waitress was very nice.

We were very happy with our visit. I had the NY strip which came with a peanut butter "spread". Not sure what it's called bit it was great. All the sides were great too. The waitress was prompt and cheery. The restaurant has a dimly lit chill vibe at night. Very comfortable chairs too. The main reception area and restaurant are very modern/trendy. Not what I'd expect for being in the woods. Great place overall.

My friends and I stumbled upon Altitude, while staying at the resort next door. It was described as fine dining and is located inside a resort, which usually = $$$$$. However, we were pleasantly suprised to discover all night happy hour in the lounge, which they graciously offered to us in the main dining room as well. This place takes their happy hour seriously... $3 glasses of wine, a phat BLTA for $4, and many other delicious options for unbelievable prices. I continued to be impressed by the quality of the food, despite the low prices, the food was very high quality. We returned for more the very next night and had our trip been longer, we would be on a first name basis with the entire staff. Next time I am in the vicinity I will definitely return to Altitude.

This restaurant describes itself as "fine dining" - I think not. The food was just okay, but just as important - the rest of the experience was awful. Our reservation was for 7:30 - so you would think we'd missed the family crowd? No. There were children screaming, running around tables, shaking very loud musical toys, etc... Also - when I go out for "fine dining" most people usually step up the attire a bit - however, most people there were in flannel shirts and dirty jeans. (we were staying at the resort for our anniversary - we were hoping for a 'special' experience - sorely disappointed) Our waitress was inattentive and frankly just missing - we seemed to be the only table she was waiting on (you can see the entire room - there's no ambiance) and she would disappear for 30 minutes at a time, and never checked in again after she delivered our food, which was cold. We suffered through and got someone else to bring the bill - talk about a disappointing anniversary!
