I had to buy a new dress 2 weeks before my wedding because my original dress was destroyed by another seamstress (Linda Clute) recommended by my sister-in-law. I got a $99 dress at http://davidsbridal.com and the size was spot on but was too long. I called Brenda on a Friday afternoon and she agreed to see me the next day. I explained my situation and I made it clear that I wanted the stitching to be the same as the original. I also needed it asap because my wedding was on the next weekend. I was able to pick up the dress by Tuesday and I was very happy with Brenda's work. I wish I had found her a long time ago instead of going to Linda Clute who does crappy work.
I will always go to Brenda from now on. -

Brenda does nice work, but there are a number of problems with the way she does business, so I just don't see myself going back there.
My first couple of experiences with her were alright. She was kind of expensive ($18 to hem a pair of lined dress slacks), but I figured it was worth it if the work was good. She also has a long turn around time -- 2 weeks to get the work done. Again, I figured it was worth it if the work was good.
The final straw came this past June. I brought in a bridesmaid dress in be hemmed and taken in (I was flying to the wedding in a month), a pair of jeans to be hemmed, and a high-waisted skirt to be taken in at the beginning of the month. She told me 2 weeks for everything. She asked me to pay half the balance before I left, which I thought was fair.
I went in at the end of 2 weeks and she was like, "Oh, they're not done. I meant to call you." Annoying, but not the end of the world. I reminded her of the deadline for the dress and left. I went in the following week and she said the bridesmaid dress was done, but not the skirt or the jeans. Seriously? 3 weeks and you couldn't do 3 pieces? Or at least call to say they weren't done? To make it worse, as I was trying on the dress to make sure it fit, I listened to her and her friend talk about the trip to Vegas they had just gotten home from. Lady, if you've missed 2 deadlines on a customer's clothes, don't make it obvious that you've just been on vacation. She asked me if I could pay the rest of my balance then, but then wouldn't take my out of town check. I only had about $20 in cash so she said it was fine to pay later, and then chased me out the door to take it after all. Classy.
So I try to be nice about the fact that my jeans and skirt STILL aren't done -- after all, I want the work done well. She can tell I'm upset though, so she offers to drop them off at my house at the beginning of the week. She didn't call me until about Thursday. She got my address, came over, and then didn't even get out of the car to give me my clothes -- she just held them out the car window! Luckily, she never asked for the balance. I think she knew she wasn't getting it.
So all in all, she does good work, but it takes forever and she isn't super professional. I wouldn't go back until I was really in a bind. -

My friend recommended Brenda to alter my dress for me. I gave it to her and came back a few days later to attend my friends wedding dress fitting appt. To my dismay my dress was at the bottom of this huge pile of clothes on her counter. Then when I came back to pick my dress up, she called me to tell me to come later. She had promised my dress would be ready that day at a certain time. Then when I had my fitting the stitching wasnt right. It formed a crease in the fabric & she basically told me it was because I was fat & it was stretching the fabric weird. Then when I paid her by check she told me she doesnt take checks with a low check #. Really??? Who complains about that? Never again will I have her alter my clothes.

Brenda is amazing!!! She had sucessfully customized my very intricate wedding gown! She was so great I brought her another dress to add halter straps to. She does great color matching and very reasonably priced!!!

Sorry, this just did not work for me. I wish she had just told me she was too busy to do the work correctly or on time. I brought in several suits and jackets as I lost some weight and wanted a tailor fit rather than a little big.
She never called back, only some items were finished before my big trip and the quality...
Nice pair of 200 slacks now 2 inches too short and she cut the trim. Overcut my new Brooks Brothers jacket and seems are crooked. No way to fix (350 loss). HSM suit is the same. no way to fix as she cut the trim!
SHe did not iron out anything, call me to say work was completed, and did a HACK job on every suit lining by just ripping it apart and sewing back together rather than the correct way or working via the stitching.
So I paid 175 dollars, only got some pieces on time, all needed cleaning and ironing and nothing fit right. So I had to buy a NEW jacket and another suit!
Anyone want to buy some nice 40R suits that will fit you if you weight about 125 lbs?
Never again. She ruined my wardrobe and no way to fix it. I wish I could post the pictures of the crooked stiching and messed up linings.
Two weeks and she still has some jackets and I am fearful to even look at them. Must be nice to have so much business you can do crap work and people come back. -

Brenda's Golden Stitch is the only place I will go for alterations. From a hem to a hole to a prom dress, she does it all professionally and timely.
As a perfect example of her wonderful customer service and timeliness, Brenda made my prom dress for me--completely constructed by her. Now not only did she make the dress, which was a large undertaking as I wanted multiple layers and diamond-studded straps (I am very particular, if you couldn't tell), but she did this in TWO WEEKS! Only two weeks to make a very specific and detailed dress, all at an incredibly low cost and exactly what I wanted.
Brenda has an incredible sense for details and what the customer wants, and she is happy to deliver that at a cost that they can afford. She is also personable and trustworthy, so much so that she now feels like a part of my family!
I would recommend Brenda to anyone in need of an alteration, or even a creation--she's hands down the best in Petaluma! -

Brenda is a miracle worker! I first found her 13 years ago to alter my wedding dress. The project I presented her with and details in the dress were handled exceptionally! My dress was PERFECT! (It still is although now it lives in a box.)
Over the years I have taken her easier fixes-mostly hems-and always done on time and a pleasure to visit with her! -

I got a bridesmaids dress from a shop and it was too big in the top half. Considering the fact that it was of the strapless kind, something had to be done. So after reading the reviews I decided to take it to Brenda's Golden Stitch since she seemed to have a lot of experience in the bridal realm.
The location is in a place that is easy to miss if you aren't familiar with the area because of the fact that the "professional center" it's located in isn't marked well. The only reason I didn't drive-by by accident it was because another business, in the center, had an A-frame out on the sidewalk that matched the address of Brenda's.
That aside, I dropped off my dress and was told it would be $38 to take it in and it would be two weeks. The dress was ready when promised and it looked great. I couldn't even tell where they had altered it. -

Brenda does amazing work. I needed emergency alterations to my wedding dress that was destroyed by another seamstress...(it was hacked 2" too short) and Brenda was able to fix it the week before my wedding! She was very straight-forward, has very good prices, and works quickly and calmly. Her assistant is also wonderful, and together the two of them make a great team. I will definitely go back!

What a nice woman! She is sweet and let down a few pair of my pants. She also fixed a pair of sweats with a broken pull-string. She is kind and does good work.
It looks like she has a lot of clients, and she does more than just alterations. I would take something into her to be tailored because she is honest and competent. -

I do agree that Brenda does great work. She was able to fix a bridesmaid dress so it looked flattering on my body. Unfortunately, I had to wait until the day before leaving for the wedding to get my dress finished. After a few finish dates were pushed back, I came in to pick up the dress at the time we agreed on and saw her assistant still sewing the hem. I was finally upset and it was clear to Brenda. Instead of listening to my "calm" feedback she simply told me I had a bad attitude. So, I would only recommend Brenda if you want great work done and have plenty of time to wait. I would recommend calling from time to time to keep things moving along.

Brenda is great! I was recommended by a few people to go to her when I needed a last minute zipper replacement on my Halloween costume! I went in on Thursday afternoon, and told her I needed it by Friday evening. She said that by 3:30 Friday she'd have it done! Then to my delight, she called me later Thursday evening and said she had just finished it and I was welcome to come pick it up right then! I was so happy that she quickly fixed my zipper, knowing I needed it soon and that I had a busy day on Friday and it was going to be difficult for me to make it before closing. I will definitely be back, Brenda is extremely pleasant, thoughtful, and professional!

Brenda made me a bridesmaid dress this past summer. She told me to find clips in magazine of dresses that I liked and than she would design something for me. The dress turned out wonderful, it was very flattering to my figure and I received many compliments on the dress and have worn the dress since the wedding.
Her prices are very fair and I will continue to use her.

I went to Brenda to get a full set of measurements taken for a costume design; she was fast, inexpensive, knew exactly what specific measurements meant when I didn't recognize the terms, and really nice. Great customer service, I will definitely go back.
