Came in with a super rush job needed (my sister's wedding, and i needed to trim my suit pants and shirt). The lady here at Alteration Express quickly measured my pants and shirt (while I had it on). And had it ready for me in about an hour. And it cost about $45.
Her service as efficient, quick, and without any problems. The shirt and pants fit lovely. I know where I'm going next time I need alterations! -

My fiance and I were referred by Hugo Boss Beverly Center to go here to get his suit and tuxedo altered here. I have given my business here twice now and first time shame on them, second time shame on me! My fiance needed his suit on Monday so Amy said it would be ready for pick-up on Friday. We live downtown LA, so to make it over here is a journey. I get there Friday and her worker said that the suit won't be ready until late Sunday (12 hours before my fiance needed it) and to come back. Never called me or anything to tell me not to come! Her excuse: the cast of Glee came in unexpectedly for alterations... God I hate LA sometimes...
Second time needed a $2000 tux altered. As soon as we walked in the door, the attitude on that lady was out of control. I even asked if her name was Amy because I can't believe someone in this terrible economy, as a business owner would not make customer service their number one priority. I think we exchanged about 15 questions and statements and it was like she wanted to kill us and we were such a bother. I told her the pants needed to be taken out and she said, "I know what he needs. my job." I told her the lady at Hugo Boss suggested the shirt get taken in a bit, and she starts lashing out and giving me grief about how she knows her job and who cares what anyone suggested to do, even though she asked what we wanted altered... It was our engagement party fitting btw, which ended up just leaving a bitter taste in our mouths. I asked my fiance if I was imagining her attitude, but he said it is just her culture... I don't know about that, I just think it was ridiculous. I was so close to grabbing my man in the middle of the fitting and telling him we needed to leave. I knew he would kill me because shopping and alterations is torturous for him, so I let it be for now. My friends always ask me for referrals for alterations; Amy you can be sure that I will never send anyone to you and I am going to advise Hugo Boss not to send you their clients because it looks poorly upon them. -

This place saved me!!! I needed to alter my dress last minute. I was so scared to drop off my gown 2 days before needing it and having such a big job done. The staff reassured me that it will be ready Saturday morning and to trust that they will do a good job. It was ready ontime and the gown looked great. I had gone to two other tailors before coming here and each of them quoted me twice as much as this place did. So it all worked out well.

I almost wish I had not found Alterations Express... It only fuels my online shopping addiction!!
All I have to say are wonderful things about them and the service they provide. So friendly, even with last minute jobs the quality of the work is perfection.
If you want great quality for a very fair price then I would recommend stopping by Alterations Express. -

I'm a girl that wears boy clothes. Many people do not comprehend this. Hairstylists want to give me Lori Petty sideburns, homeless people ask for "spare change sir", and dry cleaners alter my clothes sucky because they don't understand. I once had this korean lady in San Francisco flat out refuse to hem my jeans because (a) I was sagging them and (b) wanted them bunched over my sweet dunks a certain way.
Well guess what. AMY DONT PLAY THAT. She just hems my shit like a normal lady who specializes in alterations. I don't have to yell at her or grab my stuff and storm out yelling obscenities, I just get to pay her with a smile and leave happy with stuff that fits.
Fortunately for me, I don't look like Chaz Bono, so a lot of my stuff needs super altering for a tailored fit. Amy is very impressive in how she does this and I have since been able to wear clothes that I previously refused to wear because they were a little RTW for me. In fact, I'm going there to pick up a jacket right now! BYE! -

Just like everyone else, I cannot say enough good things about this little company. After being Jerked around by a horrible Bridal Salon, cough..cough Here Comes the Bride in San Diego....cough cough, my sister needed her wedding gown altered in 2 days. As Alterations Express is close to my work, I new she would be worth a try. Before having my sister drive up from Venice, passing hundreds of tailors on her way, I asked the woman in the store if she was up for the challenge, she said yes. Reluctantly my sister drove up. She did the fitting in about 20 minutes, they discussed exactly what needed to happen and my sister told her EVERYTHING that needed to be done to complete her picture of perfection. This was Wednesday at 6pm. She assured my sister that Friday it would be ready. My sister thanked her and walked out freaking out, "What if something goes wrong? What if they accidentally destroy the dress? And, This is probably going to cost another $1000." She knew it had to be done though.. Friday at 4:30 the woman walks to my work to tell me that the dress is ready. Really, who does that!? That was so nice!!!!!! So my sister, in psycho bridal mode, comes up about 2 hours later just before they close. She was nervous. The woman had advised her to get some spanx for the perfect silhouette. So spanx in hand my sister puts the dress on. It simply glided on, zipped up perfectly and met my sisters high standards of perfection. Really, not one thing wrong!? Nothing! SO now my sister was really sweating. She knew it would be at least $1000. After getting quotes at tailors near her house, she knew it had to be more than $500. It was less!!!??? Less than $500, in 2 days for perfect alterations and expert advise all done with courtesy, respect and a smile on her face!!! Never will I use anyone else!!! NEVER! They are the best!

This place is more than just alterations. The woman has a serious *eye* for fashion, and knows how you *should* look. I've been to other places, and it's some random dude that puts a pin in for your cuffs, and that's it. This woman wants you to look good - and that's what makes a suit - it's all about the fit.
She's a bit pricey, but quality is worth it. -

Have you ever had a pair of pants suddenly get LONGER? Yes...longer.
When you ahem, put on a few pounds, your pants inevitably begin to squeeze your thighs like a sausage skin and they magically shrink up an inch or two, making you appear like that little old lady you always see at the post office in the snug polyesters with the hem swinging about a a hands width above her shoes. No one wants that.
Well, a similarly odd thing occurs if you LOSE a few pounds...and it only takes a few. I have these spectacular make-you-bum-look-like-at-least-100-bucks black Theory pants that I swear I had hemmed a few years back. Strangely, they've gotten longer! Like, drag-on-the-floor too long. Now I KNOW I didn't drop a ton or something so I'm assuming I must've slimmed down in the thigh, causing the hemline to drop a coupla inches. Sigh.
So these pants have been sitting in the "I need to hem you" pile for oh, let's just say long enough to collect dust, and I recently decided that I should probably shorten the suckers so they match my frame.
Of course, like every woman, I wanted them hemmed like NOW. No petite gal wants to wait a week to get their pants hemmed. Nope. No sir. So I went online and scoured the internet for a place that could do the hem quickly, and correctly.
Alteration Express came highly recommended by a friend so I thought I'd check it out. I parked right out front at a meter (there's also spaces at Blockbuster up the street...just don't let 'em see ya!) and waltzed in around noon on a Thursday. I told the lovely lady in the shop that I needed an express hem done for a job interview the next day and she said, "no problem." NO PROBLEM! Awesome.
I picked them up around 6pm the same day and it only set me back $10. I didn't bother trying them on in the store but when i got home I sure as hell tried those suckers on...and with every damn top in my closet. It was like I had a whole new wardrobe! My newly hemmed Theory's made all of my tops appear flashy and new!
So people, I suggest that if your pants suddenly seem as if they grew on ya, head on over to Alteration Express. Ten bucks is certainly a bargain for a great hem...and done on the same day! You could even go buy a new pair of pants in the morning and have them ready for that hot date the same evening!
Oh, and they do more than just hems mind you...when I went in, the seamstress was repairing a bedazzled shirt for a Chihuahua. No joke. Now THAT's service! -

Omg! DO NOT GO HERE! This lady is the worst!!! She had a coat of mine for two weeks and never even began altering it! All it needed was to be hemed! When I got there to pick it up she said that it was too much work. I asked her why she didn't call me and she said she forgot because she was too busy. Also for previous work she totally overcharged me!!! Don't go here! It's better to do it yourself lol.

I went in with a bridesmaid dress that was, well, about two sizes too small. Yikes. No amount of Spanx would help remedy the situation, and it wasn't pretty. That 100% polyester satin just doesn't stretch. I was scared to say the least. Custom dresses like the one I had take 12 weeks to order, so if they come in too small, you have no choice but to make it fit you. And bowing out of the wedding? Clearly not an option.
Amy made the dress fit. There's really not much else to say, other than she was super friendly, did a super great job, and I'm going back to her the next time something I have needs altering. When I tried on the dress once she was done with it (one day later, might I add) she and I hugged with excitement as I zipped it up on my own with out any help whatsoever. And I learned my lesson, always order those bridesmaid dresses two sizes bigger than you think you'll need. -

Horrible! Charged too much ($75.00)and did a very poor job. Pinned the dress in all the right places, however when I came back to get it a week later, they had only hemmed the dress and left the zipper stuck out in the back. Asked me "why didn't I get a smaller size" (the dress was xs) If the dress had been the right size, I wouldn't need it altered right? Then she claimed it was "too much work." and wanted to charge me an additional $30.00 OMG Do not go there. Save your money, save your time. The woman there was the worst. I told her I would not be back and to keep the money cause she needed it so badly that she would cheat me for it. She tried to take the dress back to fix it but I did not trust them after their poor performance. They even gave the dress back as finished and hadn't even ironed the hem! They SUCK!

I cannot say enough good things about Alteration Express. I am a size 2 and was for some reason sent a size 10 bridesmaid dress that had tons of crazy details (ruffles, pleats, crumb catcher back, etc). I was so worried that there was NOTHING that can be done....well I went here and she made the dress amazing. She literally had to take apart and re-sew the ENTIRE dress. It came out looking great- which was outstanding considering how hideous it was when I came in. Not only was she able to completely make a new dress but she did it in less than a week! She even had me in for a fitting to re-adjust and to make it perfect.....plus! the price was amazing. I will go here for ALL my alterations needs- she is amazing.
