I love Al's.  I've been coming here for a while, off and on.  More often than not, it's a good place to stop in for a burger, lunch or dinner.

Chili cheeseburger, house-cut fries (very non-greasy) and a Shiner - $8.39.  Don't think too many places can beat that and it was good to the last bite and the last drop.

Most known for the burgers, they have a pretty large menu including a good chicken fried steak, salads, plate lunches (some low carb and/or grilled) and other sandwiches.

Their history dates back to the 50's when Al had a flourishing Drive-In.  As Arlington grew and land was scarfed up, he ended up with this inside dining establishment.  But the "drive-in" style burger remains:  a thin patty burger, partially wrapped in white paper - no plate or basket here.  The french fries are nested in the same white paper, but resting in one of the red-checked cardboard "boats".

On Fri, early evenings, the "entertainment" is Joe the Clown, who makes balloon "animals and apparel" for the kiddos.  And often, during evenings, Al is there meeting and greeting.

Find Al's on 157, about a mile (maybe 2) north of the Ranger's Ballpark.

Pretty good burger, and good atmosphere for a local place. Since the demise of Jim's this is the next best burger in Arlington as far as bang for your buck. The one thing I would like to see is bigger patties, they currently seem rather thin compared to Kincaids, or Adairs in Dallas..
Service is good, enough seating for the lunch crowd, and well priced.
