10 reviews for Alpine Motor Inn
Rented room thru expedia, which came out to almost 68 dollars a night, tax included, with two beds for 3 people.
Very nice room!!! Looks like little cottages from the outside, but has all the amenities you would ever need. Microwave, cable, refrigerator, hot/cold air conditioner. Plus the rooms looked and smelled like if they had been remodeled lately.
Our stay was nice and quite, plus we went to visit during the week. So dont know how the weekend gets there.
The guy in the lobby, some indian fellow was nice, and helped us out in the room when we had some small problem with the water not getting hot. Problem he stated was the maintenance installed the heads on the shower backwards. No biggie.
They also have a nice continental breakfast, in the small lobby. You can pick up food, but can't really eat it there. Food was good though.
Would definitely stay here again.
Let me tell you the ONE thing this hotel is for: COW PALACE EVENTS
Seriously, there is not much to this hotel, but it is walking distance from the main entrance of cow palace, and being a person who needed just that, this place was the perfect spot for my friends and I to stay for the night.
FACT 1: This hotel isn't classy, but it is relatively new inside (furniture/bathroom sink/floors).
FACT 2: This hotel is just past the Cow Palace parking lot perimeter
FACT 3: It depresses me to see how ripped off I got with people paying 50-80 bucks a night to stay here. etdPOP-2009. One bed hotel room. 140 bucks after taxes/fees. HAHAHA. Damn you supply and demand...
FACT 4: Not ideal for trying to stick it to the man and cram some buddies into either...hardwood floors.
...if i were to rebook for this years pop trip, I would still book at Alpine. The convenience is awesome, and every single one of your neighbors is still out partying in the hotel later (doors open like an SF Isla Vista) dancing in the street because they all came from the same place you did...Epic.
This place is good for one thing, and one thing only. It provides an almost perfect place for you to crash after a Cow Palace Event.
The detriments
-The walk back to the Inn from Cow Palace is UPHILL. Try walking uphill in the freezing cold wearing a beater, after running around for 9 hours straight.
- $140 for one night in a single bed. Damn smart for jacking up the prices at a night like that.
- Parking lot was not made for big cars. And when parking isn't strictly enforced, you have multiple cars per hotel room, leading to a fight for the last parking spot
The Goodies
-FRIGGIN close to the Cow Palace. Why pay $20 for parking, when you can leave the car at the hotel and walk there?
-They don't really check parking. Meaning our room could park our two cars in their lot.
-EVERYONE, and i mean EVERYONE, stayed there for one thing only, etdPOP2009 at the Cow Palace. That meant that when the party ended at 2AM, your neighbors are still partying hard back at the rooms.
But convenience wins, and if i were to ever attend another Cow Palace Event, Alpine would be at the top of my list.
Sorry Yelp but this place is a hole in the wall. Yeah its remodeled but its like it was remodeled by an unlicensed contractor. Kinda like a DIY job straight up 1/2 ass.
I booked on Travelocity for $80 for one night so I can be close to DC to attend an early funeral and not get stuck in traffic. The indian dude at the front desk was a complete asshole. His body language and the way he spoke was very crude. You can find him in one of the pics someone posted.
Coffee maker in my room was dirty w/ old coffee left inside, bathroom shower leaks like fucking crazy thru the curtain. The room setup had a good layout but it was cold as hell in the bedroom. I had to go buy a portable heater to keep warm.
I just wasnt feelin the dude at the front desk. Being rude at a hotel just doesnt cut it IMO.
Lola the hooker came in 10 mins after I did, dropped a C-note off and got her keys so quick, so fast! WTF was that about?
This is a great place to stay if you're attending any events at the Cow Palace, a Giants/Niners game or visiting the city. It's away from the crazy city prices but not far of a commute to do any of the things. Close to 280, 101, and Mission is only a few blocks away. It takes like 5 mins to hit the mission district.
The rooms are nicely decorated and come equipped with a microwave, fridge, coffeemaker and Starbucks coffee! The lobby offers Starbucks brewed coffee and a between 7-9am they offer a small complementary breakfast. It consists of cold/hot cereal, danishes, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee/tea.
The management are a real delight and always very helpful. They're knowledgeable about the area and things to do in SF, so that's a real help for the out-of-towners. It's a great steal for the price!
The boyfriend and I stayed here on our last nite of visiting SF. It met our expectations as we were looking for a cleaner, nicer- smelling, room than where we were currently staying. Ya know, a room with bed sheets that feel comfortably clean getting under (hehe). The particular room we were in was small but it was fairly priced, and the clean, contemporary decor totally made up for it.
Wireless internet worked great. Convenient mini fridge to cool the bevs. If you think you want breakfast, as always, get there earlier than later for more selection. You can miss out on the individually packaged danish and coffee.
Scott - $69 bucks for our first night was a steal. Our first room was pretty small, really clean though. We got in right when they cleaned it and it smelt like the cleaner they used. The TV was fuzzy on most of the channels though.
Out 2nd night here cost us $109 because of etd.pop that was on the day of. We had to move rooms but i was glad we did. The room was much bigger and the TV wasnt fuzzy at all.
The receptionist was passive agressive.
If youre going to the cow palace, this is the place to stay. Its kind of far from the city so the bus/muni/bart is a little longer than normal. -1 star for the first room.
I moved here in July, and for two months this was my home. Now there isn't anything really special about this place, comfortable beds, pretty clean facility, TV(HBO), wireless Internet, and a three star breakfast in the morning. Usually consisted of yogurt, danishes, coffee, OJ, and few selections of cereal. So nothing over the top they did just recently renovate with new decorations and added rooms, so that was nice, it was a modern decor instead of the usual tired rundown hotels. It also has in some rooms, two separate rooms, so if you, like I, had to stay with a coworker you could have your separate areas.
So why the four stars? The owners of this location, who live on site, actually give a shit about their Inn. Every morning they are awake in the office to greet and talk to you. They ask you how you are if you have been to see this or that, they give recommendations on sites, and things that are going on in the city,. They do this for every person that stays with them.
Some mornings I really didn't feel like talking, and that's OK, I would just say hello and be on my way. But if there was ever an issue I was having with other tourist such as the damn kids banging around at 2am, then you could call the office and the owners would handle it. The first day we were there they kicked out some people who were smoking in the room. The fourth week I was there they kicked out another group that had to many people in the room. They are serious.
Overall this place is 4 stars, great low price, right next to the Cow Palace, if you ever have an event. Okay breakfast, but great service!
There are always great deals for this place on craigslist. $55 a night (just a suggestion), but I booked a holiday deal online. i stayed 2 nights here and was immediately impressed by the modern pseudo-trendy decor. I mean the room looked comfortable. The bed was great. My main complaint was how cold it was. There is a heater that came on when it wanted to and blew out only cold air. Having a fridge was nice. i never used the microwave and the one time I wanted to use the coffee pot I noticed it was a little dirty. Oh and just a heads up, I had the hardest time finding a pizza place that would deliver to this area (so keep this in mind). I don't have a car, so the location was kind of far from BART (although their advertisements make it seem like it is soooo close). i'd go back, but what's with the highly advertised CABLE TV that had like 4 channels. There was like a spanish HBO channel that had better movies on than any of the english speaking channels...what's up with that?
I had a horrible stay at the Alpine Inn. First they gave me a cramped room which smelled like a hospital. The TV never had a decent picture which puzzles me because they have cable. Also there was no computer desk to use my laptop. On the second day I was accused of smoking in the hotel room after I had switched rooms. I did not smoke in the room, but management would not listen to reason. Would not recommend this place.
