I crave this place....I've been going here for about 17 years. Great subs. I don't even like turkey that much and I LOVE their turkey sub. Italian sub hits the spot too. Love the pasta salad....everything. Best sandwich place in the Chicagoland area! They need to deliver to DC.
PS-Call ahead to order. Then you can just go in and pick it up if there is a line.

One of Chicagolands little treasures. I believe Alpine to have the best sandwiches in the area. Im a big fan of just about any of their amazing subs, so try what you like. Its great that this place sits so close to Johnnies beef and Gene and Judes, there isnt a month that goes by that I dont make the trek to try all three and I always make sure to get a sub from Alpine for later. Awesome.
Whenever I am in the area I try and pass by here. Awesome subs, my mouth is watering just thinking about them. The fresh ingredients makes such a difference. Parking may be hard to get especially during rush hour, but it is definitely worth it.
This little food shop is absolutely incredible. Whenever I have the chance, my co-workers and I sneak over for their 100 percent delish Italian subs. For desert, take the cannoli, it is incredible, trust me.
The staff is amazing, super friendly and always willing to answer questions and best of all they make amazing food. Although the shop is a little cramped, especially during lunch time, it's worth it.

I grew up eating these and I will eat these until I die or they close. Hopefully I die first, because I cannot imagine life without an Alpine sub.
The standard Alpine Sub is where it is at. If you are a vegetarian I recommend the sub with roasted red peppers, portobellos, and cheese (if I remember the ingredients correctly). A tasty meatless option, although The Alpine is definitely the way to go.
To make it perfect, get a side of something from the deli (marinated eggplant salad perhaps?) and a San Pellegrino Aranciata (orange) to drink. Dare to be decadent? Get a bag of the little Italian wafer cookies with the chocolate filling. Oh yeah, you know you want to.
And to make it all so worth it, the prices have got to be comparable with Subway (cannot say for sure as I have not been in one many years). Plus there are those cute little cafe tables they added a few years ago so you can actually eat your sandwich there.
Go ahead, visit Elmwood Park. You will not be disappointed.
Great little authentic Italian sub shop. The ingredients are all fresh and made to order. I am boring and get a turkey sub with lettuce and tomato, but they have a plethora of meats and cheeses to choose from. Call ahead so you don't have to wait in line. They have a new little seating area if you want to eat in.

Maybe the best Italian sub ever created. If you find yourself on North Avenue around lunch time in Elmwood Park, you have to try Alpine at least once.
The shop is a cool little Italian deli. The staff is warm and friendly, even when there are hoards of people linning up for the subs.
When I used to live in this area, I always tried to go early on Saturday to avoid the crowd.

This guy at work orders a carryout monster order from here on occassion and it is a great sandwich...I do not even know what it was called, but its a great combo of meat and oils and the bread is nice and soft...put some giardiniera on and you're all set...probably just some sort of italian sub but cannot give the name, sorry for the lackluster information here, but check out this place if in the area.

Fantastic Italian Sub and incredible potato salad. I was in and out (I walked to Johnnie's for a beef) but had a small Italian and absolutely loved it.
A bit out of the way for a city dweller but worth the trip. Bread was a bit chewy but not in a bad way. I like mine on the crustier side.
I would definately return, but call ahead. I got there way early so there was no line.
I can't believe that Alpine isn't as yelped as Johnnie Beef in Elmwood park! Alpine is right down the street and ALWAYS busy. Don't let the line fool you. It is TOTALLY worth it to wait. If you don't like lines you can always call in and pick up your order when it is ready.
If you're in the Elmwood Park area and hung over this is the place to get a great, healthy, sub sandwich. The bread is always fresh and soft. The signature sandwich is the Alpine (pretty much an Italian but not as spicy), it has turky, pepperoni, capicolla, lettuce and to top it off, an awesome oil sauce. A medium sandwich is only $4.20.
Italian bonus: If you're Italian or just like Italian food, you can get sliced deli meats, fresh anti-pasta salads and even authentic italian grocieries. Grab a cannoli from the freezer, you will be pleased :)

The Bonaccorsi family has stayed faithful to the original Alpine Shop recipe and methods that made it popular. The Alpine subs are absolutely worth trying.

I am not always a big fan of sub sandwiches but the sandwich is excellent!!!! They also sell authentic italian groceries! It is usually busy which is a telltale sign that the place serves great food!
