Review from Fiona D.
This place definitely has a bad rap, but I hate to say that it kind of deserves it....
I'd been coming to this deli for years with my family. Every time we came to June Lake, we'd come here to get sandwiches before going fishing. I remember the food always being good and the deli itself being so much...nicer.
Now it's just sad looking. And I feel bad for this place and the one guy that works there. Like someone said before, he doesn't seem too thrilled to be there. The last time we came here, we were all placing our orders and he kept making "suggestions" that simply didn't come off very friendly.
My dad ordered a turkey sandwich with the cranberry aioli and said he wanted mayo but then the guy commented that the aioli was already like mayo. Fair enough, no mayo then.
Then my brother ordered the same sandwich and wanted to add jalapenos. The guy commented that it wouldn't taste good.
Alright, I understand he may think that but if it's what the customer wants then maybe just try to express your opinion in a nicer way?
Then I tried to order a sandwich with turkey, roast beef and ham and the guy said it would take too long because he would have to cut all the meat separately and etc. -____-
So I said fine, to make it easier I'll just get turkey too. Pretty sure I asked for light mayo as well.
While my dad and brother were both pretty pleased with their sandwiches, mine was literally a mayo and onion sandwich. I tried to eat the first half and all I could taste was mayo. Mayo and red onion.
I mean even though I tried to make it easier on this guy, it sort of felt like he went out of his way to make what could have been a fine turkey sandwich into a gross mess. After that experience, I honestly do not want to return to this deli. Ever again. -

My mom was ready to return our oversauced and undercooked pizza, claiming it was the worst pizza she had ever eaten, until I told her I could write a review on this thing called http://yelp.com. So here it is: ONE STAR for the lousy, black oven residue-encrusted pizza, avocado-less Californian salad, and unfriendly prices.

How can the staff be so miserable in such a beautiful location? From the time our order was taken, to checking on the status 20 minutes later, to asking for a nice place for a picnic the counter man was offensive, rude and not helpful. Food was okay but the contact with the staff ruined our lunch.

Alpine Deli has progressively gotten worse and worse with time. Could use a little bit of an update! The guy working there sure wasn't all that pleased to have a job. Maybe someone who really wants to work could take his place! We had sandwiches. Food was fine but poor service is what we took from the experience!

History
Established in 1972
The Alpine Delicatessen was opened by Marge and Ken Geldermann in the early seventies, offering deli meats and cheeses, and serving quality cold sandwiches to go, along with beer and soft drinks. After several different owners and changes, the current Alpine Deli and Pizza company is operated with a blend of the ideas that previous owners have had, as well as a few new ideas of our own. We still serve cold sandwiches, but now we offer oven-toasted hot sandwiches as well. Our pizza is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Our food is served to take out, but there are a few tables available outdoors at the sidewalk.
