Review from Chas K.
My 10-year-old son (going on 11 next month) and I took the pulse-pounding, adrenaline inducing Skyline Zipline Tour last Friday (yes, Friday the 13th). I agree with the many previous reviewers about the patient, funny and friendly guides and their attention to guest fun and safety. One of the excellent guys even took my son across the highest and longest line because there was a chance he wouldn't make it all the way alone due to his slight 72 lbs. I will say that it can be a test of nerve. The first and last lines were mental challenges, i.e., convincing yourself that it's OK to step off of 50 and 80 foot platforms, respectively, into thin air. But soaring 220 feet over a ravine in the White Mountains is worth reaching down and grabbing your gumption.
What's really cool is that they won't bully or shame you into jumping if you have second thoughts. They will encourage and inform so that you'll freely choose to step off because they know you'll love it. My son and I were still exhilarated hours after getting back to the Lincoln office. By all means, do this!
And please tip the guides. They work hard and the experience wouldn't be the same without these amiable pros. -

My girlfriend and I paid a visit to Alpine Adventures to enjoy the fall colors and a little excitement. Well, an awesome time was had.
We took advantage of the Super Skyline Tour. Included in the tour was a short 6-wheel all terrain vehicle ride to the top of the course. Staff was friendly and the views of the fall colors terrific. Though the price seemed a little on the high side, at the end I felt like we really got a great value for the dollar.
A word of caution, if heights are not your thing then you might want to take a pass on this activity. Some of the section can be quite intimidating. That being said, if you want a tremendous view, I say go for it.
A definite when in Lincoln NH. -

So if you decide you want to be adventurous and do nothing else in life, this is something you must absolutely do! Ziplining!
Now, I've done ziplining before and I can honestly tell you, this was even better than the last time! You'll definitely want to sign up for the Sky Rider zip since it's higher up (~200 ft.) with the longest run at ~1200 feet.
They take their safety very seriously here. The guides here were entertaining and love what they do! There's about 4-5 guides for every group that goes out. And they actually use a wooden brick for your brake instead of letting you self brake yourself which is what I did in the past. The problem with self-braking is that a lot of people tend get nervous and brake too early and end up having to self-rescue themselves which can be time consuming and well quite simply exhausting.
Here the only thing you have to worry about is which way to steer your carabiner to determine which way you wanna face to see the amazing view. You'll even get to race on 2 of the zips if you want.
While my zip time here was shorter than my last since it was only about 5 zips between trees, the height and distance certainly made up for it. So instead of a 3 hr trip, it was about 1.5 hrs.
I can't wait to come back and check out the Super Sky Rider when they open up in July. It's suppose to add about 7 more zips to the trip. *SUPER EXCITED FACE!*
Oh and quick tip... you'll want to do the last zip backwards. Trust me!
And don't forget to bring your camera since they don't do pics/videos here.Listed in: Action Adventures!

Review from Annie S.
A few years ago, I took my dad skydiving for his Christmas present. When he turned 60 in March, I knew I had to do something just as exciting, so I planned a ziplining tour with my best friend and her dad (coincidentally, my dad's best friend) for August.
I decided on the Sky Rider Tour because it was a little more adventerous than the Tree Top. While we were a little late starting out, the experience was amazing and I forgot about the late start right away. After gearing up, a 10 minute van ride takes you to the bottom of the mountain. From there, a 14 seat off-road vehicle (once used in the army) takes you up the mountain. The ride is fun, but I don't suggest eating anything heavy before you go. :)
The ziplining was unbelievable. I thought it would be just as initially scary as skydiving, but it wasn't. It was, however, just as much fun. You don't get the initial stomach drop like you do skydiving because the harness catches you right away -- I never felt unsafe and this made it easier to enjoy the ride (and the amazing views).
I loved the running-start zips -- such a great feeling. The final zipline (there are 5 zips) has the lowest drop and you swing back and forth a few times before they help you down by ladder. There's also a photographer at this one who takes about 25-40 photos of each person. Prices aren't that bad either.
On top of the experience itself, the guys working were very friendly and knew a lot about the area and ziplining. Definitely something I'd like to do again. -

As a birthday present to my adult son...and he being the only one who would actually do this with me...I ventured up to Lincoln NH this past Saturday for the Skyline Zip Tour! For a 2 hour tour, this was the best 79 bucks I've spent!
We booked for a noon tour and it was pretty much on time. You definitely need to make a reservation. They sell out fast! Leave everything locked up in you trunk and head into the lodge. They gear you up and you load into a the giant SUV to head to the mountain. (This is part of the tour and really a fun ride in and of itself). Then a quick hike to the zip lines and suspension bridges.
Having NEVER done this, I didn't really know what to expect! While I'm not freaked out by heights normally, I have to say, the second zip line...which is the highest and longest in N.E., is definitely NOT for the feint of heart. That said....if you have any doubts about this, take it from me, don't even start out!! All in all about 6 zip lines and suspension bridges - which kinda freaked me out more than the lines. The last one is a pendulum drop! Hairy!!
The crew was amazing! Great bunch of guys..highly trained with great senses of humor to boot.
Definitely go for this if you're in the need for an adrenaline rush....the next step would be skydiving...which I'm all set with! -

I booked the Super Sky rider tour for my wife and our friends on her 30th birthday party. The tour was absolutely incredible. Our guides were very friendly, personable and helpful the entire time. We had a very diverse group of people; ages, confidence, abilities and personalities. Everyone in our group had a phenomenal time.
I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone that is considering it. The other levels of tours seemed like they would be fun too, however being a big adventure lover, I was very happy to have picked the one that I did, I mean, longer...higher...faster...why wouldn't you want that!?!
An excellent trip overall! -

I thought this place rocked.
The staff who help us with the actual zip lining were fun an knowledgeable. The were even able to coax my 55 year old mother to do it.
The only reason I did not give 5* was that when we called to make an appointment we got a rude younger women on the phone. Not sure why??
Everything else was awesome. -

The Super SkyRider tour is AMAZING!!! It was three hours of thrills. The guides made you feel secure, safe and joked around with all of us making everyone feel at ease. And the views you get to see...simply breath taking.
If you love adventure and like a good thrill this is the tour for you! -

So much fun!!!!!!!
My husband and I had booked the Skyrider Tour for the Sunday before Halloween. Oops, we got a ton of snow that weekend! But it worked out in our favor. They called us that morning and asked if we could get there an hour earlier or later (they were doing their best to make accommodations for the weather). It worked out well to go an hour later, so we ended up with time to buy my husband new boots.
And it turned out that everyone else in our time slot had canceled! So we got a private zipline tour. We couldn't have planned a better time. Yes, it was cold and there was snow on the ground. But we bundled up really well and put some hand warmers in our pockets, and we were ready to go. The guides were all friendly and funny. And we got lots of encouragement and attention since on the mountain it was just the 2 of us and 2 guides. It was so awesome that we didn't have to wait for other people to go down the lines.
And the views! It was gorgeous out there. I can tell it would usually be gorgeous on this tour, but we also had all the pretty fall foliage plus snow to look at! This was a fantastic experience, and it will probably be awhile till we can top it. I highly recommend this company! -
Review from Jamie F.
For the anni celebration, bf and I decided to drive up to NH and zipline for the first time, instead of the typical dinner at a fancy restaurant. Yay us :)
The Sky Rider Zipline Canopy Tour was fun, exciting, and scenic - beautiful fall foliage and landscapes. We enjoyed every minute of the experience from the bumpy ride up to all four unique zipline rides. It's also a great warm-up for more thrilling activities, i.e. skydiving and bungee jumping (we've done both).
Excellent service from the professional front desk staff, cheerful girl who geared us up, and our awesome tour guides (4 per group of 13). They had a great sense of humor (most of us scaredy-cats needed that) and were pretty much our saviors (there's bound to be someone in the group that gets stuck on the ziplines and needs to be "rescued"). Thank god I didn't embarrass myself!
Quick notes:
- remember: cannonball position for best momentum when zipping through
- for the final zipline... fall backwards and thank me later ;)
- there's a Dunkin's, McD, Life is Good/Columbia store, local candy/chocolate shop, and White Mountain Bagel Co. (delicious sandwiches) within walking distance
- bring your camera, it's the only thing you're allowed to carry!
P.S. New Englanders are going to hate me when I say this: I am praying for lots of snow this winter so I can try snowmobiling here next time! -

Peter Pan
Tarzan & Jane
Superwoman
A circus performer
At one point in my young life, I wanted to be all of these things. Then I realized Peter Pan was a boy, Tarzan was not exactly hygeine-conscious, my boobs would never be big enough to fill out that wonder woman costume and joining the circus meant trading in the family dog for an elephant. And a giant-sized pooper scooper.
The Zipline course at Alpine Adventures allowed to live vicariously through my childhood fantasies (of being able to fly, obviously) without encountering any commitment to those aforementioned unpleasantries associated with them.
The staff is extremely patient, accommodating and highly sensitive to safety procedures! After suiting up in the offices you'll take not one but two different vehicles to get to the course; an air-conditioned coach with leather seats and a hummer-ish all-terrain vehicle straight out of Armageddon. Way up in the mountains of NH, there are plenty of photo ops and endless lung-fulls of fresh air.
The course itself has high and low platforms, long zips and breathtaking sights (look with your head, not our whole body, or risk getting turned around and zipping backwards!)
The final drop will have you screaming COWABUNGA at the top of your lungs as you are flung backwards off a 65' foot roller coaster-like drop only to be scooped up by the zipline and whisked across the last leg of the course, heart beating furiously in your throat! -

Exercise your whooping and hollering skills careening through the air on a zipline at sixty miles an hour!
To the left: the tree-topped White Mountains
(See how beauteous!)
To the right: the tree-topped White Mountains
(Look how magnificent!)
Below: tree-tops and hard-packed earth
(See how far!)
Above: endless cerulean sky
(Look how fast clouds move!)
Don't drop your camera. But be sure to whip it out and document the gorge, and how silly your companions look in those pinching harnesses and hawt hardhats. Might even want to snap a shot as you're running in the woods or bouncing along in the soreassmobile with the fellas that run the show. (Hey, Bob!)
Can't say the taxidermy show at the HQ didn't freak me out a bit. (Hello, Mr. Moose and Mrs. Bear.) Though I thoroughly enjoyed returning triumphant and glowing as Star Wars blared out the speakers!
Epic journey? Considering many of the lines crossed the same valley, me think not. Parallel tracks for racing and blind backwards drop? Adrenaline for the win!Listed in: Fun-Filled & Action-Packed

Let me preface by saying heights scare me. Like vertigo scare me. OMG. Best. Time(s). Ever. I've gone a total of 4 (yes, 4) times - twice with my co-pilot and then on the other 2 occasions with some other couples that we had to bring alone for the ride. We are in the Boston area and made the trek specifically for this reason.... it's worth the drive, by far. The final time we went up there we were late, which they STRICTLY tell you not to be, and they still waited for us. You could sense the annoyance but it was our fault, not theirs, and frankly I would be annoyed too in their situation since we weren't the only group that day. Sorry, Alpine Adventures, please don't hate us!
The people who work there love their jobs and it shows. They are half the fun! Good laughs, fun jabber, and an all around great experience from top to bottom. The off road safari drivers make the climb up the mountain entertaining (and somewhat scary the first time you do it!) and when you get off the "bus" people are hootin' and hollerin' getting you all revved up to go back down the mountain.
I've never been in the summer - only spring and fall - and the weather is GORGEOUS. There are two zip lines you can take - the Treetop Canopy Tour, and the (newest) is the Sky Rider Zipline Tour. I would personally recommend the Sky Rider (it's higher up!) and they are amazing. The only time us height-scardy cats have to worry is when we are waiting to take the zip, but you are so safe and secure that in reality you really know you will be AOK.
The rides are great fun, especially the last jump on the Sky Rider (I'm not giving that away, not knowing what it is is half the fun!). The facilities are clean, the equipment is in great shape, and the trees safely secured. You may not get over your fear of heights on this one but try to look past it and not give up this fabulous experience. Comin' in HOT!! -

I went over the weekend and had a blast! We went for the Zip-line course, but the off-road Safari ride in a 6-wheel drive Pinzgauers was almost as fun as the zipping!
There are 7+ zip-lines (several more coming soon ) totaling over 3500' . Platforms are 15' to 65' high in the trees and the zip-lines are 100' to 1800' long. The staff and guides were all very nice, and didn't even complain when we almost knocked them off their feet a few times on the landings! (Guess they're used to it) I highly reccommend it, and it was even raining! -

Had a best time here. I went to this place, it was a company event. This is very accessible, we traveled from Boston only 2.15hrs drive.
Zipline was adventurous, and final 'Free fall' was really good, felt like jumping from 1000ft.
If you haven't been to this place, u should go with your friends. Make sure, you and your friends are up to fun and want to jump and hang out in middle of 1800 ft.

If you're looking for some outdoor fun, with a little thrill, and no fear/worries of jumping out of a perfectly good and working airplane... Then this place should be on your to-do list.
I had such a great time at the Alpine Adventures Zipline Tour!!
So, for starters... keep your eyes peeled for this place. It isn't hidden, but for a small town, this place has a ton of activities so it's typically crowded (not bad) and there are little things to do, see, just about everywhere. It's on your left (coming from 93 N) and when I went there was one of those 6 wheel safari trucks parked out front.
There is decent space for parking in their lot, but depending on how busy they are it can fill up pretty fast. But additional parking is nearby if needed.
I definitely recommend making reservations/bookings online or over the phone. They of course allow walk ins, but I know when I went, there was only 1 slot left. So if it was your and friends you'd have to hope the next tour wasn't full, or be split up. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure there is a 24 hour cancellation policy, or they will automatically cancel and refund you for severe weather.
Now that the stuff is out of the way, I can get on to the actual zipline stuff, man... thank goodness there aren't any crazy side effects (not as long as everything goes well I mean.). HAHA
For the zipline they offer 2 tour types (as of 4 July 2008). The first is the Treetop Canopy Tour, and the second (newest) is the Sky Rider Zipline Tour. When I asked over the phone what the difference was she explained that the Treetop tour was a bit 'slower', and wasn't quite as high in most spots. Which would be good if you're bringing kids (there is a weight minimum/maximum - so check ahead of time for kids), or if you're not quite sure how you feel about heights.
You know, if you and heights have been fighting, or had a recent break up, you don't want to rush down at 50 mph with heights... so the Treetop would be a good "day-date", which we all know is safer and more innocent.
So, since my middle name is Adventure (ummm... don't check my birth certificate) I opted for the Sky Rider Tour. Which boast their heights and longest sip line (and yes... it really is both!) plus 2 side-by-side racer zips (which is great for snapping photos if you take a friend/date... date not counting heights I mean). From all of these lines you get great views of the local area, vast valleys, and mountain tops... it really is very scenic through-out the tour.
You're final zip, on the Sky Rider tour, is an 80 ft drop at 40 to 50 miles per hour that will have your heart take a leap into your throat. It's great!! And totally put the ZIP in zipline. (LOL)
If you're up in/near the area for vacation... or you don't mind a bit of a drive... I would MORE than recommend this place for your list of stops. It's fun, and great for friends and family! -

I sometimes shiver when I hear companies with the "adventure" in their name. The shiver is a combination of excitement and jealousy. What if there already exists a company that does exactly what I want to do?
Then I calm down once I hear more details. Alpine Adventures is less a titular bait & switch. Right in the name, they promise adventures only in the woods. Their web site explains they do snowmobile tours, zipline canopy tours, and off-road safaris. We reached out to them because we wanted to play in the snow and we did not want to go skiing.
Alpine Adventures is not particular cheap. The 3 hour tour cost $149 per machine, or $149 + $20 for one machine and two riders. We went with the two-rider approach.
Cost is one issue, but it is worse to tell like a victim of add-ons once you arrive. We bundled up tight but were then pushed hard into renting water-proof ski suits. They reasoned that if anything happened, we were out in the snow. Were they suggesting that if the snowmobile broke down, they were leaving us behind? We went with the suits and they only seemed to charge us $5 total for both of them.
The guides certainly put the fear of God into us during the instructions. They told us how often they saw riders swerve off the path into trees or flip over on tight turns.
Beforehand, I had worried that I'd be disappointed by the lack of mayhem in the snowmobile ride. But once I got on the snowmobile though, I feared for my life just enough. The snowmobile combination of motorcycle, sled, and tractor makes it look like something my G.J. action figures used to ride. I had no doubt that if I did hit a tree, an instantaneous explosion would immediately catapult me into the air. I let my girlfriend Rebecca drive first.
I took over the driving half way through the tour. The biggest advantage to driving is the automatic hand warmers on the throttle. Driving a snowmobile is incredibly fun. It wasn't a race, but it felt like one. The instructors had told us not to fall behind the group just for the excuse to punch it to catch up. But I couldn't help. As I said, the posted speed limit through the state park was 25 miles an hour. I slowed to 20 MPH on the tours and had to race on the straightaways to catch up.
The tour guides were polite. They also insisted we should travel only at the speeds at which we were comfortable. They stopped the group when necessary. Our biggest complaint is that they stopped the group too often. Especially near the end. We sat in the Franconia Notch parking lot for like 15 minutes. Yes, there were scenic views at times, but it wasn't as if the guides were giving us a geology lesson.
In the end, we felt like we accomplished something by surviving with our liability at zero. We spent our $12 on chicken tortilla soup at Half Baked down the road. We would snowmobile again and I think we would return to Alpine Adventures. -
Review from Emily D.
I'm not as brave as my friends that went zip lining... so this review is about the off road safari.
My hubby and I are afraid of heights so we decided to take on an easier adventure. the Off road safari takes you up the white mountains on some bumpy trails. Yes, VERY BUMPY trails. But it's tons of fun. You're in a 8 seater van, open top, open sides. And you get to enjoy the views while you're going up the mountains. Bring a poncho, cause you will get soaked if it rains. Our tour guide told us about the mountains and I don't know.. I honestly wasn't paying attention. I was too busy taking pictures of the scenery and mountains. We also made a few stops to check out the beautiful view and he took us up one of the Zip Lining bridges. That was fun and a bit scarey for us peeps who are afraid of heights.
All in all, worth my $36.. GOOD TIMES ALL AROUND!! -

My office and I headed off to Alpine Adventures for a team building event. Until we arrived at the first zip, I am not even sure that half the team fully understood what we were doing. That being said, the guides handled everyone's fears perfectly. They weren't pushy but also didn't make a big deal of things ether. That was just what we needed to get everyone (including grandparent aged coworkers) down all the tip lines. They were very professional and took our safety very seriously. You could tell they were each thinking a step ahead. Kudos to Vanessa, Evan, Brian, one more (but we forget his name!).
Anyway, this is a ton of fun. Thrilling but not too scary, this makes a great family or group activity. Beautiful mountain views, a bit of nature walking, combined with flying through the air like Peter Pan! -

If I was to put a price on flying through the air above the White Mountains, I'd probably say $89.
Thank you, Alpine Adventures, for introducing me to ziplining in a friendly, safe and absolutely fantastic environment.

Ever get tired of being so on the ground all the time? Thumb your nose at gravity and doff your cap to trees? Always figured there was a quicker way to from point A to point B if you could just get "up there"? Training to be a courier on Endor? Well, then this is the place for you!
Nestled in quaint Lincoln, NH, a serious stone's chuck away from Boston, Alpine Adventures offers a variety of... well, adventures for any would-be woodsman or adrenaline junky. In the winter, you can cruise around in a snowmobile. But you don't need no stinkin' snow to go ziplining! Anyone who broke their parents' clothesline trying to take a shortcut across the backyard knows what I'm talkin' about. Bob the Builder (that's for serious what he's called) assembled a treetop playground that's fun for the whole family! They offer the leisurely "Canopy Tour" and the slightly more intense "Sky Rider Tour." Go for the Sky Rider, even if only for the fall at the end. Along the way you'll criss-cross a chasm of conifers on single and dual lane lines. (I recommend racing against a smaller lady friend. Guaranteed victory!) Then

drop.
"White Knuckle Pine," as they call it, has an 80' drop where you can crank it up to 50 mph. Go backwards--it's like bungie jumping without the abrupt end.
The staff is pretty also cool. Real salt-of-the-earth type folks. They're very well organized and safety conscious. You may feel like you're teetering on the edge of oblivion on some of the trees or "burma bridges," but they've got you covered like a Beatles song every step of the way.
And I haven't even talked about the "Off-Road Safari." We'll just leave that one for you to discover on your own... -

This place was SO MUCH FUN! My husband's boss is going through a "mid life crisis" and he has developed a bucket list and thrown everything in New England that is remotely dangerous on it. Well I a, all in! I will try anything once...How do you know until ya try, right!?
Well we headed up from Boston to go Zip-lining and WE WERE LATE! We got there and everyone already had their gear on in our group and was in the van ready to head out! The staff was so awesome, they held everything up and rushed us our harnesses and got us out the door. (+Nice Staff)
We got to the spot where the van could go no further and we all loaded into a Swiss All Terrain Vehicle and headed up the hills to the first course (+Bumpy Dirt Paths and a Cool Weird Vehicle)
The Zip Guys were so great about explaining how to have goo technique when you're flying across the cable, and never let anyone stray behind.
The Zip Courses ranged from Long to High Up and made you zoom across as fast as 60 mph! And to get to each one you took either dirt trails or treetop bridges that connected to tree platforms. It was such a neat experience! We had a great time and got some good laughs out of it.
I HIGHLY recommend Alpine Adventures!!!! -

We've used Alpine for several summers now and it is one of the most popular programs that our campers clamor about. We take a full group of 12 (ten kids and two adults) on the zipline each summer. The girls absolutely love the experience and my staff have had nothing but a positive experience with the staff at Alpine Adventures. We can't wait until next summer to repeat this favorite trip.

Let me be clear --- I DO NOT like heights! That said, I went on the treetop canopy zip-lining tour with my bf and dad. The store is easy to find, right off of 93, and parking is ample. While you wait, there are very clean bathrooms to use, snacks for purchase, and a gift shop to browse. They have a key ring behind the counter to hold your car keys, and leave the rest of your stuff in your car. There is free water available on the tour. You can take your camera, just make sure it has a strap to put on your wrist. You have to arrive 1/2hour early, and then the staff gears you up with a harness and helmet. They said that they clean the helmets after each use, but my dad thought that his felt sweaty from use earlier in the day. That is the only complaint though. At the start of your tour time, you ride in a passenger van about 10 minutes away to the base of the mountain. Then you ride up the mountain in a passenger army jeep, which was fun but also a little death-defying because the climb is very steep. You walk about 1 minute to the start of the zip-lines, where the staff fits and checks all of your gear again. The staff is very friendly, and, in retrospect, I can tell that they were trying to talk to me a lot at the tree stands to take my mind off of the height, which was really nice of them. You basically zip from tree stand to tree stand, and I could tell that safety is of the utmost importance to them. You are continuously clipped to the aircraft-grade steel cable at 2 points, during zip-lining and transfers. Overall, this was a great experience. My dad and bf had the best time zip-lining. Even though I am scared of heights, I also had a lot of fun. That isn't to say it wasn't scary though. If you are scared of heights to the point of panic attacks, you probably shouldn't do this. But if you are just moderately scared like I am, then I say go for it. I don't think that I "conquered my fear" or anything, but I am proud of myself that I did it.
