While other are out doing their fancy-schmancy brunches, this is sort of like the cafe from "Sienfeld" for my friends and I.

I live directly across the street from good 'ol Alphabet Cafe, and get breakfast there every weekend. Nothing is great there. But nothing has ever been bad either. Just simple, quick diner-style food and a good cup of coffee. Strange cast of characters sit there all day, but whatever. This place has character, and absolutely gets the job done. Love the signed Matrix-movie poster too.

My friend and I were looking for a dirt cheap dinner option (sans actual dirt, if possible).  This place got an A rating so we were pretty excited to walk in.

I had the chicken soup and grilled cheese with tomatoes.  The soup was just like any other diner soup, and the grilled cheese was insanely tasty but the cheese oozed onto everything around me so i had to use a knife and fork.  My friend got the cheddar cheese omelet with home fries, and a hot chocolate.  The hot chocolate was most definitely from a packet as it came out about 30 seconds after she ordered it.  However, she very much enjoyed her meal.

The prices aren't bad, although I was overcharged for my soup.  I was too exhausted to say anything - and really, who nitpicks over a meal that costs $9.00 with tip?

I would go back here.  I really wish they were open late night, because I could seriously envision that grilled cheese rescuing me from hangovertown.  Oh well, a girl can dream...

I have dined in and ordered delivery online several times.  I have given the place numerous opportunities, but I will not be giving it any more.

When dining in, the service is ridiculously slow.  The management is so keen on keeping its labor costs down, it severely under staffs the place; even during obvious busy shifts (e.g., brunch on the weekends).

I have ordered pancakes that arrived way too overdone.  Other diners in the area do a much better job on the food across the board.

My last order was via http://www.delivery.com.  It was a regular order with no frills or substitutions.  When it didn't arrive after forty minutes -- I live three blocks away -- I called.  It was clear the staff was not checking the orders coming in from the website because they had no clue I had even placed an order.  It took two phone calls to clear up the matter and the order arrived more than an hour after I placed it; and it was wrong.

I am done with Alphabet Cafe.  There are just too many other diners in the neighborhood who actually make an effort.

Good food that arrived faster than I expected.

I never went into this place because the older look of the building kept me away. Ordering delivery circumvented my hesitations. Omelet arrived hot and in tact. There bacon is delicious. Coffee is okay.

My rating is based on the Veggie Omelette (see photo).

Environment: They do not have any booths but the setting is spacious and very homey.

Service: excellent. She made sure we were satisfied with drinks, sauce, dips, etc before we chowed down.

Food: This thing was huge (see photo), contained three eggs, plenty of veggies with hashbrowns and two slices of whole wheat toast.

Cost: Most of the food is under $10. The 3 egg omelettes are all the same price at $8.95 if my memory serves me. I don't remember how much the Sampler or Lumberjack was.

Compared to the other diners I've been to (see reviews), Alphabet Cafe tops them as of now.

They offer free delivery and you can order from them via http://seamlessweb.com (as Nicole C had pointed out).

This place is right by my boyfriend's apartment, so we get take out (or delivery if we're feeling lazy) from here very often. I'm a fan. Prices aren't bad (he always gets the lumberjack breakfast which is pretty tasty; I generally get a bagel with cream cheese and half a grapefruit or a smoothie if we're doing breakfast). I like that they don't skimp on the cream cheese, their grapefruit is always tasty, and they make their smoothies with mango juice.

I got a BLT from here today with a chocolate milkshake; both were super delicious. Warning though, they're shakes aren't very thick (I don't mind because they're all frothy and amazing, but important to know). They also have an extensive menu and it's very quick.

This cafe is absolutely adorable. It's perfect for a quick bite, for a late night munch, and for an egg sandwich after a long night at the bar. The waitresses remember you, and the coffee is delicious. It's a perfect spot to grab pie after a movie.

I love that I live so close to this cafe.

SO the roommates and I decided to have a viewing party for MTV's new Jersey Shore reality show and I was in charge of bringing the Disco Fries (aka Gravy Fries) I did a quick search on http://Seamlessweb.com for places around me that served them (don't you love the Internet?!). Luckily, Alphabet Cafe has them on their menu.

SO I ordered the Fries through seamlessweb and indicated that I would want it delivered at a much later time since I was still at work and wouldn't be home until later. About 20 minutes after I placed the order I get a call from the delivery man saying he was downstairs. Now, even though I appreciated the timeliness, I had indicated a MUCH later time in my order which they must have just overlooked.

It was not a problem though, they just had to take them back and they did actually deliver the Fries later at the exact time I had specified.

The fries themselves? Pretty good, though they could have used more gravy, and more spice. SO even though I have had better, I'll give them an extra star for effort and for quickly recovering from an overlook error. And it was pretty cheap too, so all was good in the end.

Excellent no frills diner. just good cheap quality food with nice staff. We had a roast turkey sandwich on wheat toast and i can say it was one of the best roast turkey sandwiches i've ever had. We also had a waffle with 2 eggs sunny side up and link sausage. the eggs were cooked perfectly so the yolks broke nicely, the sausage was not standard link sausage but was a bit nicer. over all it's quality yummy food.

Average. Not bad, but average. Disco fries, yes. Decor, no. Service is decent and quick. Not in the most pleasing location (always seems a bit dreary outside when I go). Good diner, but do not expect anything more.
