Had the best meal of my life (so far) at this restaurant, and that's saying something.  Even though this was a swiss/austrian restaurant, the Coq Au Vain (a classic French dish) was the best I've ever tasted.  Melt in your mouth.  Paired with the Schlink Haus Riesling, you just can't get any better.

So go to the Alpenrose restaurant, order the Coq Au Vain w/ the Riesling and try not to cry over your meal!

Pretty good and definitely authentic Austrian food in a small and fairly weird restaurant at the base of Jackson Hole.

The cheese fondue was solid, the fontana and gruyere cheese tasted good with the white wine and a good amount of bread and apples were provided for dipping.  The weinerschnitzel was very good, it came with some sort of gravy and a berry compote, both of which went well with the schnitzel.  The apple strudel for dessert was also good, but nothing exceptional.

The service was very professional (almost too professional?), but very slow.  The waitresses wore traditional Austrian dresses, which was a bit much since they were clearly from Jackson.  Prices are high, as expected in Teton Village, but there are better restaurants at the same price nearby.  This place seriously tries to be authentic with mixed results.

Man, I expect to get fleeced (so to speak) at a ski resort, but this was something else. I guess if you just flew in on your Gulfstream and had to have a Rueben before you hit the slopes this would do it, but if you're just looking for a hearty meal to put on the winter weight for ski season, and don't have Daddy's Gold Card, try something else.

My food was adequate, my bill was steep as the mountain.

    Great place to ski, though.

The Alpenrose is the restaurant inside the Alpenhof Inn, right at the base of the Jackson Hole lifts.

The dining room is Classic with a capital C Tyrolean.  I sat there and could have sworn I was back in the Donnerhof dining room in the Stubai- this place looked and felt perfect!  Ok, the local girl waitresses forced to wear dirndls was a little much, but what the hell, it's vacation.

The menu was kinda "modern" Tyrolean- fancy salads, fondue, the expected assortment of staple main courses.  But they went the extra mile to surround my dish with flavorful extras- spaghetti squash, steamed vegetables, etc.  The overall presentation was much more artful than you'd expect at a typical place in the mountains.  Of course you get what you pay for, and dinner ran about $50/person with a glass of wine each.  Still, the wine list was thoughtfully put together and offered options (both white and red) for just about any taste.  Overall a very nice restaurant- I'd go back for sure.

The German food in Teton village was a welcome surprise! The food was delicious and the wait staff a hoot. They were welcoming, took our coats, and kept up conversation. Best dinner so far!

I love fondue and try to eat it everytime I go on a ski trip. We stayed at the hotel next to this restaurant. My husband and I ordered cheese fondue to start. I had a problem with the texture of this fondue. It tasted weird at the beginning- there was a bizarre creamyness to it. Usually when you dip bread into melted cheese you need to pull and twist your fork to separate that last string of cheese that wants to stick to the large pot. In the dish here, there was no strings of cheese at all. It was like dipping it into a cream sauce.  It did have a good flavor though.
After this we had the beef fondue which cooks in broth, not oil.  It was EXCELLENT!!  Probably the best beef fondue I have ever had.  It was marinated beef and it was fresh and tender.
We were too full to get the chocolate fondue. But I will add that we had eaten at the cafe part of this restaurant for lunch and ate the most unbelivable brownie sundae. It was a fresh made brownie. Soooo goooood!

My husband and I ate at this restaurant because it was different cuisine than we expected to encounter in the Jackson Hole area.  When we first entered the main entrance, there was no one at the reception area.  We noticed that other couples were wondering around looking for a greeter.  We ordered cheese fondue which met our expections.  For entrees we ordered wienerschnitzel and the local trout.  The wienerschnitzel was slightly below average.  The breading was well done but the meat was overdone.  My trout had a light crust and  was served with a bernaise sauce.  The taste was different than the trout I grew up tasting in the SF Bay Area.  It instead resembled the taste of salmon. The vegetables served were large snap peas resembling green peas which were overcooked for the California crowd. The restaurant, named after a rose, charmingly had china and light fixtures with rose patterns. The little things can matter :-)
The wine selection was good with a plentiful selection for those that want wine by the glass or by the bottle.  The atmosphere was cute and there were plenty of tables for walk-ins.   People were dressed casually.
The server was interesting in that he overly animated without making eye-contact.  He and another woman were waiting on our table which was a little odd.  She may have been the manager.  I had the feeling that she was watching his tables.  Nevertheless, they both wanted to make our experience a good one.  I walked out feeling satisfied with the experience and enjoyed tasting their local trout which was good.  We were able to make reservations on http://OpenTable.com which was convenient.

Spent a week at the Alpenhof Lodge and ate here for their complimentary breakfast each morning.  Buffet style breakfast with everything you need.  Hot foods, cereals, fruit, meats, cheeses, bagles, muffins and on and on.  All of the food was good, but the grilled Holiday Sausages sometimes served are awesome.

We also ate here for one night.  We had a little of everything from fondue all the way through Jaegerschnitzel.  Everything was really authentic and above all else delicious.  I would definitely recommend a trip to the Alpenrose anytime you are in Teton Village.

Best Restaurant in Teton Village/ Jackson Hole. Food is great, prices are fair, esp. When compared to Four Seasons. Service without an attitude. Venison was outstanding, and we went back for fondue which was equally good. Wine list is is full of great values.
