This is a welcome place to pull up to after the long drive up to South Lake Tahoe. The staff is super friendly and it is right down the block from the lake. The casinos and commercial area are close by too, walking distance if you are up for it, but otherwise just a short drive.
They provide a free breakfast in the morning in the front office...nothing fancy, just pastries, coffee, tea, and cereal, but it was a great way to get the day started before heading out. The owner, Hannalore, is super knowledgeable about the area, and was happy to point some of the lesser known sites out on the map.
The prices are great too. For a romantic getaway or a family vacation, this seems like the spot to be if you don't want to be on the main South Lake Tahoe strip..
While skiing in Heavenly I have stayed in this warm welcome place many times, and found immaculate rooms and convenient location. I took also my visitors from Finland to AlpenRose and they called me back after two months to send their thanks to Hanne for the memorable and relaxing stay in majestic Tahoe. Talking about lasting impressions here. My Finnish friends talked about the friendly hotel staff and the romantic gas fired stove warming up the thoughtfully decorated rooms. I am also a Finn and like the nearby nature walks and convenient shopping sprees. Only my friends resisted the gambling draw and my friends spend more money in Hard Rock Cafe than I did in Casinos. Skiing of course is the second nature for Finns and the condola is close enough to reach by walking. After a long days of activities it was always nice to return into that cousy place and relax by your own room stove or have a chat with the staff.
Charming little hotel with a feel of a bed and breakfast. This place is run by a friendly and sweet woman (there's a little bio of her on the hotel website) who really works hard to put a personal touch on how the hotel is run. Each room has its own theme and is nicely decorated with a bed and little seating area. She allows dogs and only charges $10 extra/night, which is a deal compared to other places! The place is very well maintained - including snow shoveling and plowing of the walkways and parking lot.
The bed was super comfortable, and our room came with a kitchenette - which was great. She even furnished it with real plates, mugs and silverware. There's also wireless internet, complimentary breakfast, etc. And the location is great - close to Heavenly gondola, or the shuttle bus stop if you want to go to one of the other Heavenly entrances. It's also within walking distance of a nice little beach, shops, grocery store and a movie theater. And the price is great - definitely recommend it!!
A friend and I decided to make a last minute weekend trip to tahoe. Every casino was booked. We found this place, just a few blocks from the casinos. Awesome staff and very clean and newly updated rooms. Close to the lake too.
