Stayed here with my family and wound up with a sick child in the middle of the night and no car. The night time desk clerk offered her personal car! May not have all the glitz and glamour of The Four Seasons, but this kind and compassionate staff member won our loyalty and business forever. Clean comfortable rooms, ski storage, boot dryers and solid restaurant make this place very desirable

The fondue was OK - nothing special though. The service was a bit slow and the staff not very attentive.

An all around pleasant after skiing experience ... but if it were anywhere else it would not have been a very memorable meal.

The Alpenrose restaurant where you can get fondue is way overpriced.  We paid $17 for a side of mushrooms, garlic, and to have mushrooms mixed in with the cheese fondue.  That is outrageous.  Plus I ordered fondue for 1 person, but they charged me for a 2 person meal.  Definitely would have rather had a hamburger and saved the money.

Chose the tiny size room to save some $$.  And it was really tiny!  The nicest part was the free breakfast.  And experienced the European style ski lodge, for its architect style, interior design and Bavarian furniture

Pretty much that was it.  Perhaps a bigger room (with more $$) will change the way I felt and the rating I gave....

If you want quiet, cozy and accommodating then look no further than the Alpenhof. Bonus points are awarded for its convenient access to the Bridger Center as well as the new Tram for all those people who want to start waiting in line at 7:30am on powder days. Extra bonus for the fact the bus picks up/drops off right outside the front door so if you feel the need to go into the town of Jackson (believe me, you do), you don't have far to stumble home.

If you like adorable dogs whose highest aim in life is the ulitmate belly rub, this may also be the place for you. If you don't like dogs, the two at the Alpenhof are the most sedate creatures I've seen in my life. You can pretty much ignore them but you have a calloused soul if you can turn away from those brown eyes.

We don't care much for ultra-luxury so the clean and quiet room we stayed in was perfect. The king bed was the most inviting thing EVER after a long day hitting the slopes - we had a very difficult time getting out of it once we got in! There's a decent flat screen tv but no DVD player in the room - you can rent one for $8 dollars but it'd be nice if it were included so I took a half star off for that. It would also be nice if there was a mini fridge/microwave in the room (maybe hidden in the closet or something? I don't know!) so you can eat your fabulous leftovers from Teton Thai. I took another half star away for that, too.

Overall, everything was clean, including the hot tub and we LOVED the complimentary breakfast. We're not talking bagels and pastries but a full-on breakfast - eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, etc etc. Okay, and breakfast also includes bagels and pastries. They also host complimentary fondue parties. Not ones to turn down chocolate fondue, we meandered down there to find a cheese fondue which was still very good. We just had to use our 20% off coupon for dessert later in the evening (suggestion: be sure to get the chocolate fondue at some point. It may change your life).

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again!

I stayed in the Queen Dolomite room as it was the cheapest, and I was paying out of pocket for a business trip.  The room was a bit small, but this was fine as I was on my own for this trip.  The bed was a very comfortable pillow-top.  The bathroom was also small, but to my delight included a tub (c'mon, who doesn't like a good soak after a long hike in the Tetons?).
Overall, the room was a bit small, and though updated at some point, still retained artifacts from the hotel's construction back in the 60's, but was a very comfortable and "Homey" room.
What really makes this hotel shine was the fantastic service from the employees (and the dogs that live in the lobby).  Each and every employee I interacted with was very friendly and helpful without it seeming like they were doing so because it was their job.  I mean, it seemed (GASP!) as if these were genuinely friendly people that actually liked interacting with customers!
While there, I ate at both the bistro, and the alpenhof restaurant, and can say that the food is quite good at both places.
To sum things up, if you want a super deluxe fancy schmancy uber-modern hotel, then this is not the place for you.  If you want a friendly and comfortable place where the staff will make you feel like part of the family, then this is the place for you.
Also, who doesn't like having a friendly golden retriever solicit butt-scratches from you when you walk in?

I am currently staying at the Alpenhof on a ski trip.  It's a great hotel, and I would highly recommend it.

Location:  About a 2 minute walk to the ticket office and tram, and a 3 minute walk to the ski lifts.  You cannot beat the location.  It's about a five minute walk to the Mangy Moose.  The bus ride to Jackson is about 10-15 minute.  The bus ride back is about 20-30 minutes.

Room:  I stayed in the Queen Gable room.  I liked the sloped ceiling.  The room is paneled with wood.  Has a great alpine feel.  Flat screen TV with lots of channels.  Has a love seat, a coffee table, and a desk.  The bed is very comfortable.  Bathroom is adequate, though the shower drains a bit slowly.  The toilet drains a bit slowly too.  There is also free wifi.

Hot tub / pool:  Both are great.  They are outdoors.  I went swimming a bit...it's warm, but could be 5 degrees warmer.

Food:  Breakfast is complimentary.  Otherwise, for folks not staying at the hotel, it's $14 per person.  The fruit at breakfast is great - strawberries, blueberries, grapefruit, grapes, cantelope, honey dew, pineapple.  There is also eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, pancake/french toast, muffins, yogurt, danish, oatmeal, coffee, orange juice, cereal, and milk.  The eggs and potatoes are decent.  Today, the eggs were pretty good.  I haven't really liked the bacon and sausage as much.  The bacon is a bit thin.  The oatmeal is a bit gluey - I think it's the quick cooking type.

Service - good service.  Room cleaned well.  Check-in was easy.

I would recommend this hotel if you are skiing at Jackson Hole.

The Alpenhof Lodge is one of the original places in Teton Village.  We stayed there 1/9/2010 - 1/15/2010 and enjoyed every minute of our trip.  We were upgraded to a Tyrolean room by the wonderful owners.  The lodge is not four star accommodations, but more than makes up for that with superb service in every aspect of its operations and friendly attitudes of all encountered.  Honestly cant say enough good things about the Alpenhof.

The complimentary breakfast was awesome and had anything you could want. Hot foods (eggs, sausage, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, hash browns, etc.), cereals, fruits, muffins, beagles, cheese, cold cuts and on and on.  All good stuff!

The Alpenrose (inhouse) Restaurant is genuine authentic swiss/austrian food and delicious to boot.  Fondue is great as is everything else we had there.

The Alpenhof Bistro (and bar) is great for apres-ski action. Good german beers on tap (as well as full bar) and a full munchies menu.  Nachos are back and are awesome as is the fondue and the fresh baked pretzel.  The Dusseldorf mustard served with the pretzel is unbelievably good and I can eat it straight!

Overall we had a wonderful experience at the Alpenhof Lodge and hope to return as soon as we can.

Also, the newest addition to the family is a lab and basset hound mix that wobbles around the lobby getting all of the love from the ladies.
