Alpaca Pete's
1 review for Alpaca Pete's
On a recent drive from South Lake Tahoe to Tahoe City (on our way to Squaw Creek), my son started to feel car sick, so I had to pull over fast. I saw a small parking lot on the side of the road and made my entrance. After letting him out to stretch his legs and let his stomach settle, I noticed a little "hut" nearby, with alpaca rugs hanging from every available overhang surrounding it. Moving closer, I saw several GORGEOUS sweaters on display out front. We went inside for a closer look.
The man running the shop was friendly and folksy. I'm not sure if he owned it or was just the manager for the day. But he was very nice about my 2-year-old's fascination with the pretty rugs, which he enjoyed petting. Meanwhile, I began rifling through the sweaters.
Some had hoods, some were cardigans, some with buttons, some with zippers, some were simply pullover crews. They were all beatiful. Imported from Peru in nice Alpaca wool, colorful designs. Prices ranged from $50 to $60.
What a steal! I picked up four sweaters for Christmas gifts this year. They also had knitted caps and shearling boots, but I had to reign myself in. If you're heading to Tahoe, this is a definite worthwhile excursion.
