While on a recent trip to Big Bear, the hubs and I decided to stop in for a cool gelato on a warm day.
I loved the Raspberry and Lemon sorbettos. They were so light, flavorful and refreshing. The cookie wafer thing they give you is also delicious! -

This is a very new gelato and candy store centrally located in the village at Big Bear Lake. There is another location in Hemet with the identical name and I assume that they are related but I don't know for sure.
From what I could tell, they do not produce their own gelato, they sell Gelato Classico (from San Francisco). Of the sources for gelato that they could have chosen, this was a good choice.
They offered about 20 varieties of Gelato which included a larger than average number of slightly unusual varieties (spumoni) but nothing extremely creative. Fortunately, they carried mostly iced creams and not Italian ice.
The flavors that I had ranged from good (pistacio and a carmel containing flavor) to excellent (dark chocolate). The gelato was both creamy and smooth with abundant flavors that did not taste artificial. Perhaps because this was a very new store, the ice cream also seemed fresh (the store has not been open long enough for the ice cream to show the effects of sitting open in the display). I hope this continues.
The staff were very friendly and willing to give a lot of fairly generous samples. The prices were very high, $10 for a pint, perhaps justifiable only by the central location.Listed in: LA Ice Cream
