1221 Kapiolani Blvd Ste 116The only place that carried Chloe, Balenciaga, and Dsquared.
I've purchased 2 Paddington bags here and LOVE them.
They have stuff you can't find anywhere else in the island.
Their shopping bags are awesome...I use mine as a gym bag.
Service is great and helpful.
It's not that often that I get to go back to Honolulu, but when I do, I make sure to stop by Aloha Rag. My first experience with Aloha Rag came by way of recommendation from Lucky Magazine. Aloha Rag is one of their *favorite* websites, so I was pleasantly surprised with the real-life version when I walked into the store.
They have since changed the arrangement of the store from my last visit, and while I find it more open now, I did like the way it was before (Winter 2006). Now, it feels like a museum of modern art, complete with Balenciaga motorcycle bags hanging from shiny white knobs arranged like pegs on Battleship. A couple of Chloe and Golden Goose purses sit in glass cases, longing to be held by shoppers with way too much disposable income.
While the pickings are sparse, Aloha Rag puts up good sales if you hit the store after major holidays. Sale racks have 40%, 60%, and sometimes 80% off apparel (for the most part) from uber high-end fashion gurus that haven't whored themselves in the mainstream. Sure, you'll find your Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses and L.A.M.B. windbreakers, but I blame that more on their target demographic (tourists from Japan) than on poor buyer selection. I have personally picked up two Alexis Hudson purses, a pair of killer Pierre Hardy platforms, and an adorable 3.1 Phillip Lim cocktail dress at quite affordable prices.
Sales + HI tax = SCORE for this Bay Area gal! Check it out!
AlohaRag is the best. I bought my Balenciaga handbag here (no tax and free shipping). The only state in the US to sell Balenciagas (except for NY but they charge for shipping). I haven't stepped inside the store because I shop online. Their customer service is awesome!
Meh version of American Rag Cie done up Hawaiian style.
Nothing very exciting unless you like worn, distressed jeans from 2 seasons ago and if that is the case, then you Mr. Trendypants, are in luck!!! Go here and spend your inheritance!!! Yay!

certainly NOT to be confused/ compared to american rag. if your idea of fashion stops at raw denim, then this is not the place for you. however, if you appreciate refined selections, hand-picked by a very talented buyer/ curator, from the likes of balenciaga, martin margiela, ann demeulemeester, phillip lim, galliano, lanvin, and one of my faves--obedient sons, then aloha rag is a dream.
actually, it's like a little gallery for artful clothing, complete with little placards adorning the racks with the names of the designers. hello balenciaga! being on the island of oahu, this boutique draws lots of japanese shoppers for chloe & balenciaga bags for way less than in tokyo (the dollar is weak) & mainland fashion afficionados to stock up while paying minimal sales tax...other than that, this place has little to do with beach or island anything & instead rivals or far exceeds the better shops of better cities (yes, san francisco...you've been beat).
also, aloha rag means business when they want to move end of season items & the sales are out of this world. it's really sick, but this place & one particular beach were my favorite things about my hawaii getaway. i left with a balenciaga suit jacket, an henrik vibskov cardigan, an obedient sons shirt and a left field ny t-shirt, & because of their unbelievable sales, at a price that didn't completely throw my bank account into seizure. & the b-fren left with a couple of amazing golden goose sweaters, so it was fun for all! hooray. hooray. i am a whore. the end. actually, not the end, 'cause i'll be shopping on their website often. margiela to the mainland please.

Interesting selection (that is to say, not the same Juicy/Theory stuff that most other boutiques carry), and a lot to offer on their website, too, including good sales. One of my favorite shops in L.A. (Scout) knew of Aloha Rag because apparently they end up ordering a lot of lines in common - a little odd considering how casual most places are in Honolulu, but a great place to check out nonetheless.
Damn! This place has everything! They have all the hottest fashions before almost everyone else! You'll wanna take out a small loan before going here! I'm a fan of denim & they carry the best: Tsubi, Rogan, Loomstate & Dsquared to name a few. Go there quick & often because all the little japanese girls buy up all the good stuff!
