This is the only place that has done a fantastic grooming job on my dog. The staff are friendly and the dogs at day care all looked relaxed and clean. We will be boarding them at their day care in the future

***THIS REVIEW IS STRICTLY ABOUT THEIR GROOMING SERVICES***
Fair prices and the owner and staff have always been kind and try really hard to work with us in getting the type of cut for our american cocker.
i have to say... we get the GREATEST COMPLIMENTS ON HIS LEGS AND FEET which, i hear, are the hardest areas to groom! they do a really FABULOUS job on his leg area and i can't even keep track of how many compliments we have received so far (we've been customers since fall 2011)
They do take a while on our dog (average 3 hrs) but kick back at the mall and grab a bite to eat somewhere while you wait because their service is well worth waiting for in my opinion. I'd rather they take their time and do a good job than rush and mess things up.
He's never come back to us butchered and they always spray him with a soft scented perfume and a bow tied to his collar-- so cute... They even take photos of your dog after their all prettied up!
If you prebook for the next appt or pay cash you also get about a discount.
I love this place. -

My son (8 pound Bichon Mix) loves this place. This is the only place where my son actually gets excited to go to. You should see his face when he is near the building.
So I use this place as a special treat for my son. The staff is great, the other dogs are very friendly, and the place smells clean. Other places smell like urine or a mix of urine and chlorine.
Grooming:
Great prices and up-to-date styles. I've been to other groomers in the island, and I feel that they are the very best in what they do.
This is the only place where my son gets groomed and is excited to go back to. The other places, my son will cry and pull away from the door.
My advice is to give this place a try and you will stay as loyal as I am. Isn't your dog worth the happiness that he or she gives you? -

I never thought I would be this much of a yuppie, but when my four-legged child needed to be out of the house for a few hours, I started researching doggy day care. I called three places and decided to check out Aloha Dog because the person that answered the phone was friendly and asked me questions about my dog.
Because my fur-child was not so used to socializing, they asked that I bring her in to be checked out by the staff. The staff was very friendly and seemed very familiar with dogs in general. They recommended that I drop her off for about an hour a few days before her day care visit.
Her visit was ok - she was a bit nervous and timid, but I think the staff did everything to make my fur-child comfortable from actually keeping her a bit isolated from the other dogs for a little while, and then introducing them slowly to each other.
It seemed like they were concerned with the dogs' well-being, and there were several people on hand to help with the handful of dogs. The place was clean, did not smell like there were multiple pets on site, and they have the cutest furniture and stuff that dogs can run around, over, etc.
The cost is very very reasonable for daycare so if you're working long hours, this might be an option for your doggy.
Best thing was that my dog was so tired from hanging with the other dogs that she actually fell asleep in her crate on my drive home - she never does that!
Parking is in the back and a bit of a pain.
I would highly recommend and will definitely take my dog there again. The dogs they doggy-sit are all very horribly cute - and it's funny to see the one GSD puppy amongst the westies, bichons, malteses, and the corgis. -

Here I am writing another review of this wonderful place. My beagle stayed over 2 nights for CAGE FREE boarding. Needless to say she didn't want to even come to me at first. The owner and all the workers are so nice and they really care about all the dogs. Just a tip if you're planning to have your doggie stay there for boarding....they require you to have your dog groomed or at least shampooed while there. They just take extra precaution to ensure that your dog is clean and free of fleas/ticks. So its comforting to know that all the dogs that stay there are checked thoroughly too and your doggie won't come home with any unwanted friends.

They banned my DOG because I had unexpected EMERGENCIES and cancelled my appointment 2 times in 2 months. I cannot understand a word they say and they were absolutely RUDE. Her words were "Yooh cannot come hea no mo! Yooh cancel n now yooh banned! Yooh cannot bring yo dog eva again. Goodbye!" In a stuck up japanese accent. They HONESTLY have a great groomer, but they need to shape up their attitudes! I cannot and never will go to then again. Who the hell bans a dog from a place because the owner cancels an appointment?! Ridiculous.

The workers here do not understand or speak English at all. The old lady with the glasses wearing the ugly pink apron started speaking Japanese with her co-worker right in front of me by the front counter. I fully understand Japanese, but chose not to talk to them because this is America. The old lady said something about the health certificate I got from the vet.
Long story short, these people are rude and speak sh*t about customers in Japanese right in front of you.
This place will eventually fail because of horrible business ethics.
BTW, the pink is so ugly on your walls!!! -

Uh ohh... I think I may have found THE place to take my dog for grooming!!
I was actually recommended to check out Aloha Dog during a visit to Secured Gold Buyers. The girl who helped me had her little pup there and I casually asked where she took her dog for grooming, and she mentioned Aloha Dog.
Before calling, I did some research on Yelp (naturally). Seeing all 5 star reviews, I had to check them out.
I called 'em up and scheduled an appointment for the same day! I was kind of embarrassed because I could barely understand the girl on the other end of the phone due to her strong Japanese accent. We managed though. (Oh, how awkard!)
My appointment was at 5:00 and they closed at 7:00. I mentioned that my little Yorkie was FILLED with matted hair (poor baby) and they assured me that they could complete the job in 2 hours. I still kind of doubted them because another salon I took my pup to took just about 3 hours....
They called me as promised at 6:50 and told me my pup was ready for pick up! I booked it down there and my little fur ball was extreeeemely happy! He was so clean and well groomed and super excited!
I paid just about $53 for their service. SUPER happy about that. They didn't even charge me extra for all his matted hair!
I'm definitely bringing him back here for grooming!!Listed in: Yelp 365 Challenge

Ok. I give in. After years of using Yelp and never giving back, I will finally write an actual review on a business. Who else could prompt me to pop my cherry and write my very first Yelp review is none other than my beloved fur baby, Koko.
So I've been scouring the pages of yelp for a great dog groomer and daycare/boarding place since I moved hear last December and have been disappointed in the last two places I have taken him too (Nalowinds and Pacific Paws).
Walking into Aloha Dog was like a breath of fresh air. So far, I've been once for daycare and once for grooming and each time, I've been greeted by extremely friendly and happy staff, who you can clearly see are dog people. The place is super cute inside, lots of nice furniture for your fur baby to lounge on, very clean, air conditioned, and doesn't have the stinky dog/urine smell, like most places. The daycare area is a good size for small to medium dogs, but I definitely wouldn't bring a large dog here, as they do not have an outdoor area.
The only thing keeping them from getting five stars from me is that there is no web cam. Its always one of the first things I look for when I'm looking to board my dog. On the plus side, they do cage-free boarding, so I might be willing to overlook the lack of a web cam. I am often out of town and would appreciate a little peace of mind if I could check up on him once in a while.
Last comment I have is regarding tip for the groomer, which I am always in the habit of doing. When I tipped the groomer, both the groomer and the front desk person seemed to be completely pleasantly surprised by it. Come on people, if you tip your hairdresser (which you should), then you better be tipping your dog groomer to. -
Review from Caryn W.
After looking on craigslist a few times, my fiancee and I decided to take advantage of Aloha Dog's 15% off full grooming, which is a special they're running for this month.
Even though we were a half hour early, they still took him in to start the grooming. The people were very friendly, just like the last time. There were several people there watching the dogs that were in the daycare. As I was filling out the paperwork, the groomer was combing through a magazine and found a picture that looked EXACTLY like our dog. She asked if we wanted his cut to be like the picture and we said that was what we wanted. I liked how the groomer took the time to find a picture to show us of what we could expect from her.
Two hours later, we returned to find our dog happy and clean. I was surprised to see that the groomer had even taken the time to trim his eyelashes! Now they weren't drooping into his face anymore. They also remembered to trim the back of his tail like I asked him to. As Della L. mentioned, the groomer did seem surprised when I tipped her, so I think it's best to remember to tip the groomers since they're so nice and do a great job.
I do plan on using their boarding service in the future, so I will probably write an update later when that happens.Listed in: Townies Rock!, To the Dogs

My Bichons looooove Aloha Dog's day care staffers. Manami, the owner, is so kind and loving to them. She even texts me their photos duing the day to show me what my bichons are doing. Yuka, the bichon frise groomer really knows how to groom them to show-dog condition. I switched from another dog day care center because my Bichons don't want to go anywhere else.
Thank you so much! -

Grooming was excellent. I couldn't ask for anything better for my Yorkie. I used to live in Japan so I miss the days of grooming my yorkie there since they do such a good job and are extremely thorough. I'm so glad I found this place that offers Japanese style grooming because now I'm completely satisfied instead of missing how my yorkie used to be groomed.
I will always take my yorkies here!
They also e-mail a pic which I thought was so sweet! -

I really wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll ever go back. I arrived 10 minutes early for an evaluation for my two dogs. As soon as I arrived, one of the ladies there started yelling "muri, muri" (unreasonable) and pointing at one of my dogs. I guess she didn't realize that quite a few people in Hawaii speak Japanese, so I replied that my dog was 35 lbs, which is under their 40 lb limit for boarding. I also called twice before making the 30-min drive to their location. They didn't ask me for my dogs' weights. I didn't think to volunteer the information, since their website says that 40lbs and under is okay (and they have photos of medium-sized dogs). I told them that one of my dogs was a Whippet mix, so they could have guessed her weight. I was then told in English that they only accept dogs 30 lbs and under. This was news to me. They could have updated their website to reflect that or told me over the phone during one of the two times I called. I suppose I had overly high hopes for this place, because it's Japanese run and operated and received really good reviews on Yelp. However, customer service is not their specialty, which is ironic since it's the cornerstone of the Japanese business model. I would have contemplated boarding my 10 lb dog here if it wasn't for one of their rude employees. I consider my dogs my babies and need to feel that I can trust the establishment to be caring, understanding, honest, and ethical. Perhaps others will have a better experience, but be forewarned about the dog sizes they are willing to accept for boarding.

Finally! A pet boarding and grooming shop located right in the heart of Ward area.
Aloha Dog is behind ALTRES and next door to Wrenchy's Auto mechanic. The staff was very friendly and as I entered the lobby I see happy doggies roaming around freely, Aloha Dog is a cage free boarding company. It's very clean inside and prices are very reasonable.
Go check them out! -

I love this place! My dog hates any type of grooming and will do almost anything to get away from it! The staff here takes very good care of my little guy and saves me the stress of grooming him myself. They are friendly, attentive, and upbeat! My dog always comes back happy and clean! I love Aloha Dog!!!!!!

Aloha Friends
To all my friends
Aloha Dog is one of the most pleasant day care for dogs in Hawaii. and it all starts with the great personalities of the staff. There are fun trusting and most of all very very caring.
The atmosphere for our pets is fun its is safe and secure and each pet is treated with love.
I invite you to take the time to visit and meet the friendly people and checkout the clean , safe and fun setting atmosphere.
They also have the best grooming in the islands starting with a pampering of love and fun.
My pets look great!!!! check it out, oh by the way if your dog needs training this is the best.
Hori-san the trainer is a professional with high level skills. I can attest to this as my two dogs have gone through his training.
Stop by and say Bruce Coppa said to stop by.

We used to keep our pup at home during work hours and she did not like that. We would come home to messes and she would mope around while we got ready. Not a happy pup.
We then did research about doggie day care and found this place. She loves it! The staff there are very knowledgeable and they are total dog people.
Manami puts up pics on their fb page daily! They listen to your requests and are able to report how your dog did that day (good and bad). Very trustworthy. It's great!
Our pup wouldn't eat all her breakfast before when we would leave her at home but now she does and she gets lunch!
She is so much happier and so are we! We can totally see the positive change! We used to feel horrible for leaving her at home but now we feel great knowing she is at a place she loves and enjoys.
I can see how parking would be a hassle but that only happened once and we have been here for two weeks now.
We just started puppy training as Takashi is very nice and seems to have a great handle on dogs. The first training he was able to get a base line of the pup and told us what we should work on. Can't wait to see the results! -

My love my little Yeti so much I am grateful there is a place like Aloha Dog that can watch him from time to time. Grooming prices are very reasonable considering their high standard. The staff there are so friendly and kind and the daycare area is kept so clean. All the dogs seem so happy there! My boyfriend and I plan to board him there while we are away on our trip coming up and I can say we trust Aloha Dog the most. We have a feeling he won't want to leave. :)

Overall, the Aloha Dog is pretty good. The staff is really nice, but I think there was a language barrier perhaps. I explained that I just wanted my little Yorkie trimmed. The groomer asked about my dog's belly (well she lifted my dog up and pointed, so I said yes I wanted it shaved). The haircut was cute and my dogs belly was partially shaved. For whatever reason, the lower belly wasn't shaved and the hair underneath my dog's tail wasn't shaved or trimmed at all. I've taken my dog to the other groomers and that area was always shaved. Perhaps, it's my bad and I should've specified but I thought it was obvious. Poop tends to get stuck in her hair in that area and with her little tail, I always have to check if there's poop smuggled under that tail. Overall, where her hair was actually cut, it looked good, but I'm taking my little "smuggler" somewhere else. Also, the grooming area is not visible and while the ladies are really nice, I prefer grooming areas that are visible.

Mahalo Aloha Dog. Came home from work today and both Mocha and Koa were calm and welcoming when i came in the front door. As apricot and white poodles who had a shampoo today, i can only think that it was more like a Spa experience. Not only calm but clean also. Koa, the white poodle was a brilliant white. Mocha, the apricot, actually looked bigger. He was also smelling fresh with a hint of puppy. As both doggies wait for their daddy to come home, get a glass of wine and settle in to watch the local evening news, both then become the lap dogs they were meant to be and snuggle in and around Dad. Both being clean and fresh makes it an enjoyable experience for all.

Aloha Dog will be the best that you will find as loving, caring, and friendly staff to care for your dear pets. I can say that this place is by far the best that I have tried for my Maki, my Yorshire Terrier. The staff does the best for daycare services, grooming, and training. I will board Maki for one week and I feel very confident that the staff will provide her with the best of care!! Maki loves the daycare and Takeshi Hori and the rest of the staff are sooo caring to my Maki. They are always so accommodating and try to do everything to make Maki's visits with them so pleasant. When I pick her up, she is so happy! Her grooming was just absolutely perfect!! The best thing is that you can have grooming, daycare, boarding, and training all in one place!! How conveinient is that!! Your loved ones will be in the best of hands!! I have recommended many of my friends to take their little one to Aloha Dog!!
