FINALLY - a hotel that gets how I like to do business travel.  I don't need a snooty lounge bar, I don't need a huge room.  What I want is a place that's fun, energetic, and has the modern conveniences that business travellers enjoy.

The atmosphere is simple but energetic - from check-in to the bar.  The music in the elevator makes you want to have a dance party for one.  To apppeal to my inner dork, rooms come equipped with a HDMI connection, which if you get the cables from the front desk, means you can connect your iPad or iPhone to the TV.   So, I watched streaming Netflix, thanks to their efficient, free, fast wi-fi.

Bottom line, it has just the things you need and want, not the stuff you don't, and it has the energy and fun-factor that makes business travel a bit more enjoyable.

    **Bar area only**

Came here for a co-worker's surprise going away party. One note... in the bar area, the curtains are a trendy mesh metal see through material... does not bode well for surprises!

We had some chips 'n salsa, pita chips 'n hummus, and some pot stickers. The pot stickers were pretty good. The other food, eh.... nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about.

I didn't have any drinks, but those around seemed to enjoy their beverages. There was a pool table and other entertainment in the open space, along with some interesting furniture to gather, sit, and chat.

As another reviewer summed it up....it's a stripped down version of the W brand (all owned by Starwood Group).  However it's the casual minimalism of the Aloft brand that is appealing.  It has a less pretentious vibe but still has a jet setter feel to the place.  Along with the Element hotel across the parking lot, I've stayed here on several occasions and have not had any issues with the hotel, amenities, or staff.  It's nice that the hotel is off the road on a private lot secluded by a granite wall.

A group of us stayed there the weekend of my daughter's wedding. They couldn't have been more accommodating and responsive to our needs.  Everyone there was pleasant and professional. On Sunday morning we had a breakfast which was delicious and well-presented.  There were 35 guests and the private room was arranged beautifully with wedding centerpieces and a decanter of water with fresh cut fruit in it on each table.   It went way beyond my expectations.

What a breath of fresh air.  I moved away from Boston years ago and I remember when this used to be a Sheraton, back when lots of Sheraton hotels had a faux Colonial theme.  I remember it also had an awful restaurant called Dunfy's onsite - it was the kind of lousy classic New England place where they served broiled scrod with tasteless veggies.  My grandmother loved that place.

Thankfully, the folks at Starwood closed the Sheraton and turned it into an Aloft, which is a hip, minimalist, modern place, sort of like a stripped down W (same owners).  The lobby is sleek and modern with a lot of couch-type seating and random decks of cards and board games on coffee tables.  There is also a bar which was lively both times I stayed here.  The transformation into an Aloft was not a face-lift, the whole place was gutted and everything in the hotel is new.

This newness continues on to the rooms.   You would think you were in a brand new hotel.  The fit and finish is excellent.  The rooms are a bit on the small side, so if you are one of those dummies that judges a room for 1 or 2 people by how big the room or the bathroom is, or how many towels you get, you may not like the Aloft.  Personally, I go to Europe a lot for work and prefer smaller rooms.  That said, it is not cramped by any means and the beds are a proper size.  Plus, there is a perfectly large TV on the wall.

The service was admittedly on the amateur side:  The desk staff of 2 was completely overwhelmed with 3 guests waiting to check in and the bartender was washing dishes or something in the back behind the bar while a couple of people waited endlessly for drinks. Kind of hack, but overall, my stay here was fantastic.

This hotel is easy to miss from the road. There's barely a sign forthe long driveway that looks like it's going through a forest road. The hotel is hidden behind a shroud of beautiful trees. The environment is pretty, pristine and magical. Loved this hotel for it's strange modern style. And the rates are reasonable!

Rooms were great, cool design. Loved the doorless sink area and the soap/shampoo dispensers in the shower. Points for saving the environment by not wasting thousands of tiny soap/lotion/shampoo bottles.

Pool area is super chiq and reminds me of something you would see at the much pricier W hotel chain. Fitness room seemed serviceable although I didn't get a chance to use it. The highlight of the hotel is the huge lobby. There are plenty of weird/modern couches to sit on and also a pool table for entertainment. There's also a mini market with plenty of snacks and goodies. At night the lobby turns into a bar which opens until midnight. If you
re in Lexington and you're wondering where the party is at... swing by the Aloft!

I am only writing about the hotel, not the terrible food at the bar. The hotel people were friendly, welcoming and clearly dedicated to making our stay comfortable.
I found the lobby, cool, hip and energizing. That is until the Eurotrash music drove me insane. The rooms were  very comfortable and sleek. I loved the decor and the easy to use wifi. I am a fan. I won't arrive hungry.

I was looking to find something wrong with this place, but overall I have to give it a 5.

Plusses: modern rooms, cool music in lobby, the bar let's you play music from your smartphone

Minuses: 1 shot for wake up calls (I missed my wake up call, but they didn't try again), shuttle van leaves on a schedule instead of anytime, understaffed

If you're staying here for liesure travel, I think you will enjoy it.  Pool, 24h exercise room.  And for business travelers, they have a decent cure for fighting loneliness with their bar, pool, and 24 hour workout room

The manager of this hotel is really nice, but avoid staying here all costs.  It looks cool, hipster, and sheik, but the looks are REALLY deceiving.

1.) No box springs on the bed means it feels like a Medieval torture device.

2.) Poor air conditioning means that even after 72 hours of being turned on, our room was still 75 degrees.  The manager graciously let us changes rooms, but guess what? Same thing in the new room.

3.) The front desk clerk corrected me. "It is the LIFT, sir, not the elevator."  Then this beauty. "Here we call it the WC, sir, not the restrooms." Really? Why? Because you are trying to pretend you are in the UK and not suburban Boston?

4.) Poor signage makes it difficult to find.

5.) The rock band playing in the courtyard was nice, but not if you were trying trying to work late at night.

    Skip this place.

Got to stay here on a business trip this passed week.  It is very modern; loved the design of the room.  The gym was good and the salt water pool was interesting.  I enjoyed my stay alot and would stay here again if I get the opportunity.

The one draw back was, thurs nite, the lounge was booked for some sorta of club/ speed dating meeting so parking was hard to come by.

I'm an Aloft fan. I seek them out where ever I go because they are in the reasonable range of the hotel chains and they have style. The Lexington one lived up to expectations.

i was surprise that the lobby was as busy as it was when I got in around 10 PM. I was also surprised that the noise didn't carry over to my first floor room. Points for that.

I also got a special aesthetic treat of likely an infrequent nature. To construct the hotel, they had quarried into a fair amount of rock and my room on the first floor had a view of the cut. It had snowed lightly that evening. The combination of thespot lighting , the birches planted infront of the cut, the snow and the rock created a tableau that perfectly fit the high style of the hotel. It made it hard to close the blinds and hit the hay!

Try to stay on a snowy night and get a back room.

Where did those $85 rates come from? Mine was twice that!

I'm in love with Aloft.  For the price, it absolutely cannot be beat.  If you're looking for a cheap place to stay in the greater Boston area, and you have a car, stay here!  don't even bother looking anywhere else.  Pool.  Pool table.  A real gym.  General purpose computers.  Free WiFi.  Cocktail bar.  Lounge.  Fireplace.  Swanky lighting and minimalist/modern decorations.  I know it's a chain and all, but it feels like a boutique NY style hotel, but without the NY pricetag.

The staff were very friendly and attentive.  My one complaint is that the bartendresses were incapable of making a decent mixed drink.  I tried a Manhattan (which they put some dry Vermouth in...yuck) and then an Old Fashioned (where they muddled lemon and lime peels down the bottom of the glass...yuck again)...then I gave up and just ordered Belvedere on the rocks for the rest of the weekend, because that's impossible to screw up.

I'll definitely be staying here again in the future.

This hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport (provided you don't get lost  Which I did. Twice).  When I walked in it was 11pm and the lobby was buzzing.  People playing pool, people fussing with the iPads, people at the bar.  There was music playings, but I didn't find it annoying or too loud, as I was able to check in without raising my voice or struggling to hear.  The guy at the desk was friendly and polite and asked about my stay.  There is a small area with snacks you can purchase.

When I got to my room, I was really excited about the room.  Very modern, sleek, hipster attitude.  Huge bed (king or Cal king? HUGE), a large nice TV is mounted on the wall, cute little retro clock on the nightstands, a copy of SPIN and a copy of Wired.  There is no dresser, so if you are one of those "I want to unpack" types, this won't suit you.  There is a small closet where you can hang stuff, though.  I loved the provided bath products.

You can buy breakfast in the mornings, but I do wish that they offered a small continental breakfast provided.  Noon check-out is faaaantastic.

One gripe: The doors to the room are extremely heavy.  This may sound like a weird thing to mention, but I woke up in the morning due to slamming doors on my floor.  Really, really annoying.

I would totally stay here again.  For $99 a night, who wouldn't?

I stayed here recently, and have a few thoughts:

    Pros

    -Nice, friendly staff

    -Very modern, and futuristic looking

-different layout of the room, but still enjoyable

    -great pool and workout center

-nice TV and magazines in the hotel room

-nice hotel bar and seating area for relaxing

    Cons

-carpet was frayed in the room

-shower didn't shut completely, and it got slightly wet in the bathroom

-noise seemed to carry, from both the room upstairs and in the hall

    -only two pillows

-the sheets weren't comfortable, and I'm not sure if we were missing one, but something was off with the sheets and the comforter

    -no hot tub

This place probably pushes towards 3.5 stars, but this time I feel like it doesn't quite hit the 4 star mark.

Hello, swanky hotel with contemporary styling for $85/night.  You want me to come and stay for a spell?  Don't mind if I do.

    Minor complaints:
--no lightweight blankets available upon request (only sheets and big fluffy quilts).   Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but cosleeping with an infant and a big fluffy quilt is a safety risk, so I slept with a couple layers of top sheets.
--the lightswitch in the bathroom was a bit tricky, but that may have just been our room.  At one point I spent 20 seconds fussing with it until my husband called out from the bed, "You're a doctor.  This is embarrassing."  Then he came over and it still took him another 20 seconds or so to get it turned on himself.
--my husband found the cocktails at the bar inadequate, but they couldn't screw up my glass of wine.

Given that parenthood has thrown a major monkey wrench in any nightlife shenanigans while traveling, there's no reason for us to pay Boston hotel prices again.  Aloft, we'll be back.

Hotel is very modern & contemporary... Has a nice lounge, bar, pool & gym. Rooms are very cozy & roomy with Bliss amenities!

I came here with the fam to visit the Boston area. The kids had a blast at the pool & the adults enjoyed nights at the bar. Staff are very friendly too.. Just don't tell the bartenders that you're from NY =P haha kidding! Overall A great experience & ill be back if ever in the Boston area :)

We stayed in Boston last year for our anniversary, we choose aloft because it looked fun and it was insanely cheap! We were not disappointed, this hotel was modern, cool, and fun. We went to the bar area one night, which was very laid back and comfortable. We played some board games, watched tv, and even shot pool.

The room was clean and very modern, complete with the latest issues of some very cool magazines. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.

I think the best complement I could give is that we just recently booked this hotel for September when we will be back in Boston to see U2. Can't wait to stay!

A+ This place is excellent in every way. They have a cornucopia of snacks available in the lobby and a decent bar and pool on site. The beds are wonderful, the design is a little dated in a pseudo-modern way, but it still beats the pants off a "ye-ole Holiday Inn" typical mid-range hotel decor.

My parents have been staying here for months while house-hunting and have befriended the entire staff who are all lovely and helpful. I'm not sure why you'd want to stay overnight in Lexington, Massachusetts, but if you do, you should stay here - end of story. The Element across the parking lot (I assume same owner?) seems pleasant as well, though I haven't seen the rooms.

Let me tell you how awesome the Aloft in Lexington is...

If you haven't stayed in a Aloft before- prepare to be wowed! Sleek. Hip. Today! Aloft is the affordable hotel of the future. The rooms are fresh and unique, unlike any hotel you've stayed in before. The furniture is all modern- coming with flat screens and overhead showers. Aside from Las Vegas hotels- you probably won't find another room like this outside of the Aloft chain. The lobby is fitted with a young bar and live music. There is free WiFi and free parking. PLUS, there is a very relaxing pool area and very clean gym.

If you're a tourist to the area- be aware the this hotel is about 30 minutes from downtown Boston. It's not really close to any T line, so you may have to drive if going into the city. HOWEVER, this wasn't a huge problem for me and I don't think it will be for you either...

I highly recommend staying at this Aloft- and I look forward to seeing more Alofts popping up around the United States for me to stay in!

Stay away!  This place is so full of itself it forgot the basic reason that people come to a hotel: to get a good night's sleep.  The A/C system is noisy, and the vent blows directly at the thermostat, so it cycles on and off all night and sounds like a small lawnmower.  The windows don't open, so there is no possibility to cool the room off without the A/C running all night.  I can't sleep in a room where the temp is above 70, but if you like a hot stuffy room, or a place that is intermittently noisy as hell all night long, this is the place for you.

It also has a really cheesy feel in the bathroom; seems like they were really cutting corners on closets and storage, so it looks 3rd rate.  The bed was comfortable, however.  Also, there is no radio, but they give you the option to listen to music for only $14.95 for 2 hours!  A rare bargain!

I liked it. I was here for about a week recently and this was my first experience with this new Starwood concept. It is basically a stripped-down W. Same electronica music piped throughout, dimmed lighting etc. I think we are all kind of over this by now, aren't we? All in all a great value for the money. Next time I will stay at the sister property Element across the street which has a more serene feel to it.

    Good:
Lounge area-which opens every night at 5. The appetizers are all actually pretty good. I had a fantastic Lychee Martini.
Rooms-Pretty nice. Very spartan, but gigantic TV's and really cool shower area with Bliss products were cool features.
Gym-Nice equipment, clean and 24 hour access.

    Bad:
Breakfast Bar: Pretty horrendous breakfast sandwiches. There is no room service or restaurant here, and you are kind of in the middle of nowhere so if you are here for any extended period of time I suggest hitting a grocery store and filling your mini-fridge up with sustenance.

aLoft is a decent place to stay for a good price.  I wish I could give it more stars, but it failed me on a few fronts.

    Gripes:
    -  Loud techno in the lobby meant our baby woke up EVERY SINGLE TIME we arrived at the hotel.  It would've been nice if one of the side entrances allowed us key card access so we could bypass the noise.

    -  That opaque panel between the shower (no tub!?!) and the main bedroom?  Not all that opaque.  Watch out if you're staying with someone other than your SO.

    -  The king sized bed was nice and comfy, but came with only two pillows.  When I fished the single extra pillow down from its perch, it smelled like syrup, which leads me to believe that the pillowcase hadn't been changed after its last use.

    -  Toilet and shower are separated from sink area with a non-locking, sliding door that didn't close tightly.  Again, if you're staying with someone who doesn't usually see you pee, you might want to consider another hotel.

    -  Pool is nice, but freakin' COLD.  Would it kill them to heat it a few degrees?  Also, given that they cater to the under 30 set, I'm surprised they didn't have a hot tub.

    -  Why no conditioner?  In a hotel that provides face wash, I expect something other than shampoo plus conditioner in one (as anyone with hair longer than shoulder length will tell you, that ain't no real conditioner).

    Pros:
    -  Free internet.  Makes up for a lot.

    -  Props for using a duvet instead of flat sheet and blanket.  I appreciate that.

    -  In-room fridge made baby food storage easy.

    -  Loved the storage/shelving available.  Made organizing all my stuff very easy!

    -  Clean bathroom, clean hotel in general.

I stayed here for one night after having to change a reservation from a hotel in the Cape....

From the images online, aloft looked like a great experience... modern furniture, futuristic look... etc.

    On a scale of 1-10.

Atmosphere - 8... When comparing the actual hotel to the pictures... it's almost the same. When you actually walk in the door at the hotel... you start to feel as if it's a bit too futuristic... almost fake looking. A cool place for one night.

Pool - 1... The pool is literally the size of my car (and I drive a honda accord which means it's not big at all) :o)

Staff/Service - 10... The staff was extra accommodating... when walking through the lounge to get to my room, they were always attentive and sure to ask if there was anything I needed. great customer service!

Room - 9... the room was nice, modern shower, big flat screen mounted on the wall in front of the comfy king-sized bed. modern furniture and decor.

The Element (which is the sister hotel) is right across the courtyard. There was a party going on in the Aloft lounge area, which made me notice that this hotel is common for younger adults ages 25-35. The element hotel across the way would probably be appropriate for people who don't like a crowd hanging out in the lobby (maybe individuals who are 35 and up)

The hotel is a W knockoff.... but a good stay for the money.

    Enjoy!

You know, I don't mind this place at all. The rooms here are a little small, and they are located in the suburbs, but you can't beat the value.  The prices are great, the place is clean, and the staff is nice.

I would recc renting a car if you are planning to do the whole Beantown thing...I wouldn't like to think how difficult it would be to get around if you didn't have a car.

This is going to be more of a 3.5 star review to star. While I love the idea/concept, I felt like the execution of it with this hotel was a little too much. I felt more like I was walking into some odd 80s hotel recreation than I was a hotel that had just opened two weeks prior. That said, it has some cool stuff going for it.

First, they have a bar with really cool loungy seating all around. This is where the wedding after party will be taking place since we'll be staying across the courtyard at element and many guests will be staying at one of the two hotels. They have a fireplace that is double sided, so you can also sit outside and enjoy it.

I think if they killed some of the weird neon lighting I'd feel better about the vibe, but right now that's what's killing it for me. We were also told at night the entire hotel lights up, which is why they installed extra blinds at element.

So I easily think that this could get bumped up to a full four stars, heck maybe even more depending on how the night goes. Rooms here are pretty reasonable, so that's definitely earning them points!

I stayed here for no good reason with my boyfriend and now I want to move in. The people working here are friendly. The decor is fun and new, and the amenities are acceptable for the price. There is a bar that serves a light menu, and a buffet/cafe area that has packaged food and drinks you can purchase 24 hours a day from the desk agent.

Drinks can also be purchased by the pitcher to enjoy while playing pool with friends.

The beds are comfy, the wifi is free and the TV is huge.

Did I mention its also really cheap. I'm pretty sure a ton of casual encounters are going down here for only $85 a night!

I stayed at the Aloft while in Lexington and enjoyed my stay there.  I have to say that it has a vibe that would speak to the 20 / 30-something business crowd.  Very edgy and hip; the rooms are small and sparse, yet comfortable.  Another reviewed wrote about the long hallways.  Yes, indeed, they are lonnnnnnnng.  Since I always ask for a room on a high floor and away from the elevator, my walk was akin to taking a walk from Oz back to Kansas.  Great service and the pantry is really good for breakfast items and salads.  Next door is their companion hotel, Element, and I'll stay there next trip.

I like it here. It passes all typical the 3-star hotel standards: it's clean, the bed is comfortable, and the shower is spacious and good. It's kind of out of the way from the city, but the rates are reasonable and it's very gadget-friendly. As others have noted, the techno/neon theme is a bit much, but it's definitely an interesting hotel experience. The lounge is nice to sit around. I like that you can plug in devices on the TV -- it was great to be able to plug in the Wii and play on it while we stayed here! The only downside is there's very little food service and the breakfast options are pretty crappy, so you'll want to get food somewhere else -- the Burlington Mall has a couple of restaurants you can hit up.

I stayed there a couple of weeks ago. The place was clean and everyone who worked there was very nice. Nice flat screen TV's in the bedrooms and everything was brand spanking new which is a plus. I agree with the first review that it was a little too much neon lighting. My friend said "It seemed like they were trying too hard to be cool". I prefer the regular Westin Hotels but I would still recommend staying here. A for price, A for Cleanliness and A for service, D for interior design.

clean, new, better than average weight room, just a little a bit in the middle of nowhere. great for business travel.

absolutely over done with the techno-hip-W style design (the music in the elevator is a little much), but its a solid hotel otherwise..

"A Hotel Inside An Ikea Store"
A helpful and friendly hotel staffer described the aloft hotel to us during check-in and I completely agree.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this unique hotel chain and we will definitely be staying at this hotel property again.
I've included a few notes on the various aspects of the hotel.
Lobby/Check In: The Lobby area is bright and colorful. The check-in staff were very friendly and helpful. We even recevied a call after we checked into our room to make sure we were satisfied with the room and view.
Room: Our room had another unique decorating scheme, with frosted glass bathroom facilities, sliding doors and great decorations. Our king-sized bed was very comfortable, and our room had a nice flat-screen plasma TV.
Pool: Open until 10:00pm, nearly always empty and perfect for a late-night dip.
Bar/Lounge: The friendly bar staff took great care of us. We stayed for dinner and watched the Bruins game on their large TVs. Tater-tots were served as a side to every dinner entree. We paid $45 for 2 full dinners, 3 draft beers, one soda and an appetizer plus tip. The lounge had many comfortable couches that were perfect for lounging.
Guest Services: Complimentary Parking (a huge perk in my opinion!) Complimentary Wi-Fi, Great toiletries in the room, interesting magazines on the desk (latest issue of Wired and Spin).
Price: We paid $85 per night for a king-sized room when we booked through http://hotels.com
