I, along with my friends, stay here during the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival.   It is by far the nicest hotel we stay in.  The staff is super friendly, the bed are incredibly soft, and the showers are amazing.

Their lounge downstairs is a great place to congregate after a show or at the end of the day.   Their gym and salt water pool is equally awesome.

I look forward to coming to North Carolina every year, especially knowing I have a great place to sleep at when the day is over.

Great hotel! I stayed here for a wedding and was very impressed. The rooms were spacious and very modern and the staff was helpful. The pool was small but well maintained and heated. Workout equipment was also modern and in good working order.

Nice to have a full bar (open until 2am) in the lobby area.  Good location, just east of Chapel Hill/UNC and only a few miles from Durham (the dirty D). I would definitely stay here again.

Modern, yet homey. I love this place! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Most importantly, it is CLEAN. They provide cables to hook-up your computer to the TV, very handy for movie watching.
If only they had free breakfast, then it'd be perfect.

Super comfy and a genuinely terrific staff: the tough thing about rating similar properties in different cities is that the stays themselves tend to be pretty consistent. When you stay at an Aloft (and I've spent time in the same version of hotel in at least three cities now), you get a somewhat more simplified of your average W Hotel room. They're clean, comfy, semi-upscale without overt opulence. They're comfortable rooms and they treat those who stay here well. I generally dig em.

That said, the service level at those hotels can vary somewhat - no one spot is laissez-faire with their consumer base in my experience, but I found the staff at the Aloft in Chapel Hill to be beyond nice - they were downright gregarious -- engaging -- and that extended from the front desk to the valet to the bar. They all seemed to be on the same page, and I've been to plenty of directly posh hotels where that wasn't the case. Comfy, close to the fun in Chapel Hill, and plenty friendly. Lots to like here.

    Aloft hotel has it down.

I set up shop here a few months back and found myself pleasantly surprised with the staff and the overall feel of the hotel.  From the outside it looks a little pretentious, you know the modern hotel resting amidst extended stay hotels, universities, and a pretty laid back downtown.  But it's not.

The staff was surprisingly accommodating and cheery, room service was [over 3 nights] on point with maintaining our messy room, the bar is modern/ hip/ and not overpriced...  Things are good here.

The price for what you receive is more than fair.  Free wifi, pool, fitness center, lounge with billiards, extremely comfortable beds, and all the accessories you'd need of a hotel room.  It's a fun, friendly, modern environment that didn't disappoint.

Cool hotel in Chapel Hill. I stay here on football weekends. The staff is always friendly and great. The rooms and decor are quite modern and spotless. Free wifi, breakfast for Starwood members, and a nice bar to relax.

About a mile from campus, so it has been and easy walk/taxi to and from the games.

The parking is either free valet or self park, and the area has plenty of food choices, a CVS, and a grocery in walking distance.

This is my first stay at an Aloft hotel.  Very conveniently located close to UNC and close enough to the Hope Valley area of Durham.  The though the hotel's address says it's on South Hamilton Road, it's actually situated on Hwy 54 just before you enter into the UNC campus.  Complimentary valet parking was a great bonus!  BUT, there is not valet parking at all on Sunday.  I didn't mind this because the garage is well within walking distance, I just didn't know it.

Having stayed in many conventional hotels before, this was a bit different for me.  The entire hotel gave me a European, modern avant garde style feeling.  Concrete floors in the lobby and a very unconventional check-in desk in the middle of the lobby as you walk in.  The air is fresh and very fragrant in the lobby which, in addition to the check-in desk, consists of a small snack bar, drinks bar, small family-room style area near a fireplace, as well as pool table and a couple computers from which you can print boarding passes.  There is a small in-door swimming pool as well as a workout room, both of which were very nice.  The elevators have a cool mat/pad type thing on the floor that changes color based on the amount of pressure applied to them when you step on them.  However, I wasn't crazy about the 'drop-cloths' that were hanging on the walls of the elevators.  At first, I thought I had entered a freight elevator, where the walls were covered to protect them.  Then, after being there for a number of days and seeing that both elevators were covered with these silk dupioni padded covers, I realized that it was a part of the decor.  Still gave me a 'freight elevator' feeling.  The music in the elevators was nice, and they smell nice too.

When I walked into the room, I was surprised by the layout of the room.  Again, unconventional for a hotel, but I liked it.  You can see from the posted pictures.  Very spacious and well appointed, I was happy with the room.  However,  there were a few things I found odd:  there were no, absolutely no drawers in which to place my folded clothes.  There were 'cubby hole' style built-ins in the bathroom area.  The other thing I found odd and actually quite annoying was the fact that you have to run the water in the sink for about 10 minutes before it'll get hot.  This is no exaggeration.  I called down to the front desk to ask about it, and was told that because of the hotel's green or gold status (I forgot which the desk clerk told me), the water pressure is very low and for energy saving purposes, the hot water is in conservation mode.  He literally told me I could run it for 5 or 6 minutes or that they could send a tech up to my room to remove the little governor thingie that controlled the flow and temperature.  I just ran the hot water in the shower for a couple minutes to make the sink water hot.  Odd, but more so annoying.  However, the shower was really nice and comfortable but it leaked water on the the floor because there wasn't a good seal on the door to prevent water leakage.

Anyway, there is a well-working refrigerator as well as a coffee maker.  You are given two complimentary bottles of water each day.  I liked that.  There's an easy to use in-room safe as well as a plug-in and play station for all your portable electronic devices.   There's free internet access, though I didn't have a laptop with me.  There's even a laundry room on the 6th floor.  Lots of viewing choices on the flat screen TV in the room.  Firm, but comfortable bed, and did I say the room was quite spacious?  Dog-friendly!

The staff was quite friendly and my entire stay was very comfortable and I felt safe.  There are lots of places of convenience nearby.  University Mall is just down the road a couple of miles.

Would I stay here again, yes I would.  They just need to do something about that hot water issue!!!

For the money, Aloft is a great deal!

Tired of the cookie cutter hotel experience and want to try something a little bit more up to date?  This is the place.

My wife likes more of a homey, country decor while I like clean and modern.... while I usually lose out at home I convinced her to try something different during our stay in Chapel Hill.... and she liked it.

Free wi-fi, indoor swimming pool, fitness center, bar, self service food stall.... Aloft had all of the extras that you would expect from a hotel that charges a lot more.

    Staff was friendly and attentive.

    Highly recommend!

Recently my loved one and I spent a breezy summer evening and day in beautiful Chapel Hill. Now as a Wolfpack alum, I may be run out of the pack for admitting that CH/Carrboro is a great and gorgeous place to eat, live, or play. But I will take my chances.

Spending a night at Aloft is simply like nothing CH has to offer. It is an unique experience located right off campus near shops, trails, and it even comes with its own nightlife to start your evening off right.

It is hard to do the rooms that Aloft offers any justice without pictures. However, they are chic and modern, utilizing squared designs to maximize the entire room to something more than just a room. Its almost like an experience. While this is not something new, it is to CH. While it is not of 5-star status via a real hotel rating, it deserves one here based on many factors.

It is eco friendly, with no little shampoo bottles, instead opting for Bliss (company name) dispensers. It has giant windows that you look out of while laying down without having to move. I mean from 3 feet off the ground to the ceiling windows. It has its own fresh snack bar downstairs with wholesome Naked drinks, sandwiches, and more. It also has an indoor saltwater swimming pool. And did I mention the shower can mainly be lit by natural light?

So yes 5-stars. A great experience and if you are lucky try to Priceline this hotel for a cheaper rate. We did! We had a great time and would stay there again.

Aloft is a fun hotel and my entire family really enjoyed our stay. The reason we choose to stay here was because of the unique, modern decor. When we first walked in the door, we weren't disappointed! It was a really neat looking hotel.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The indoor pool was really nice (they use salt water instead of chlorine chemicals). The fitness room was great! I really love when hotels have bumbell free weights! It's rare to find. And they had a pool table you could play for free :)

The food at their cafeteria style / snack area was very reasonably priced. The beer was actually priced good too. We will stay again.

Had my first experience with aloft hotel in chapel hill, and now they are the only places i want to stay. A very modern european style experience with none of the unnecessary fussiness and pretension of most hotels. Rooms were spacious and intelligently designed, lobby was a great place to hang out. The lobby pantry was fine  for grabbing an inexpensive meal and the staff al semed happy to be working there. When's the last time you could say that about a hotel you stayed in?

This is a review of their hotel bar XYZ. A group of us (dark blue) came to meet collaborators from UNC (light blue). We found XYZ at Aloft hotel and we really enjoyed our visit.

Aloft opened in early 2010 and there has been some buzz on Yelp. A few friends and I have been meaning to check it out and this work meeting made the best excuse.

The XYZ bar is located just beyond the foyer, down the steps and expands to the left where the bar is located. It has a nice balance of dark and color as its theme. There was a large pool table in one corner, right against a wall of fair modern art. We sat ourselves down at the far side to check out the area. The waitress was nice and responsive. The manager Stephanie even came by and said hello. She mentioned that they have a dedicated meeting room as well should we want to use that next time.

All in all, everyone enjoyed the visit. We hope to come back another time and make this the gathering place before more food and wine in the nearby area. It would a great cocktails/drinks spot.

Awesome stay! I loved the modern and comfortable feel of this hotel. The style is fresh yet they make you feel very comfortable through your stay. My deciding factor to stay here was that dogs could stay for free. They were very nice to my little pooch and didn't make us feel at all uncomfortable for bringing her. For the price per night and the quality I would def stay here again and recommend it to friends.

It sits beside a couple restuarantes and shops to help pass any free time. It is also very close to UNC and didn't take more than 5-10  mins to get to Franklin Street. The beds are a little hard but that was easy to look over due to all the other positive factors. The valet men are also awesome. They literally sprint to collect your car so you are not waiting long at all.

Perfect location.  The staff is kind and attentive.  The sales manager actually sought us out as we were playing shows in the area and met prices with a hotel where we already had reservations.  I'm glad we went this way.  The place is posh and classy.  There's a pool table and a bar down in the lobby.  cheers, indeed.

The staff in this place are all so friendly that you're certain they're going to mess something up - like get transfixed on "how cool that fire looks" and not call the fire department or something.  But I have to hand it to them, they're both friendly AND professional.  The only drawback to this place is that the bar in the lobby closes at like 10 or something.  Otherwise, it's a perfect location and such a smart, sleek yet comfortable atmosphere.

Enjoyed the music at the w xyz bar Aloft Chapel Hill tonight.  The bar presents a surprisingly welcome atmosphere - and the jazz was very fine.  I'm hoping music will become a more frequent event here.
Chapel Hill has lots of music venues, but not so many that are comfortable for the 'grown-up' crowd.  w xyz could fill this need.

I stay at a lot of Aloft's around the US.  The nice thing is the consistency.    And the staff  has been very consistent from place to place as well.  This one fits the mold perfect as well.  Cheap nice rooms with a business centric hip scene....i like it.

This place is very trendy and hip, a perfect fit for the Chapel Hill area.  Nice, new, very clean and wonderfully styled in decor.  It has a Euro feel to the main area as well as the rooms themselves.  I have included photos of both the lobby/common area and the room.  I had a great experience here.  The staff was very nice, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure all was taken care of when they interacted with you.  There is a very cool bar/lounge called wxyz accessable at the lobby, nice place to hang out.  The rooms were comfortable and even had hookups for your iPod to play music/video through their system and TV in the room, very nice plus.  Nice spacious shower area, with glass door and tile.  There is a natural light that comes through from a frosted glass to the shower as well, very nice.  It is a Starwood Preferred Guest rewards hotel.  I have come back more than once, and will again, great place.
