What an awesome find by sister who lives here! She's tried a few mocha shakes here before, but never had their desserts. Well sis, today's OUR lucky day!
(I can attest to how delightful those shakes are... sis and I shared one the day before-- things always taste better when you share w/ those you love, don't you agree?)
I liked this shop the moment I entered it! Brick walls, chalkboard menus, and wooden floors gave the shop a very homey, old-time feel. However, the black counters, tables, and chairs kept the place from feeling too stuffy. The coffees here are made from coffee beans roasted in-house, and most, if not all, of the desserts are also homemade; This shop supplies many of the local restaurants, one of which is Oliverio's (review coming soon!)
There were so many pastries to choose from, it was almost impossible to choose! My sister already knew what she wanted to try (having eyed it those few times she's ordered the shakes)-- a slice of the tiramisu cheesecake. My salivary glands were working overtime at the sight of so many enticing possibilities, and had not another customer ordered the blackberry cobbler beforehand, I'd probably still be standing there hypnotized...
Armed w/ a couple mugs of coffee, a mocha shake, and plastic forks and knives, we threw caution to the wind and dug in! The first item served was the tiramisu cheesecake-- it looked so rich, I almost didn't give it a try. (Those that know me would say, "Yeah, right! You're not fooling anyone, Aileen!") This was so flavorful, yet felt so light, it didn't feel at all wrong to have two more bites (or three or four). It's served w/ homemade whipped cream... delicious! Lucky for my sisters, I had the blackberry cobbler handed to me a few minutes later (I had it warmed). It came w/ a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The photos I've included of it do not give this sweet dish any justice... Trust me, it looked wickedly tempting in person! The blackberry cobbler wasn't too sweet, which I very much appreciated, and the ice cream complemented the hot sweet dish perfectly! I don't think my two sisters had a taste of it, being so satisfied w/ the tiramisu. I doubt they stood a chance at sampling it though... Mom and I did good work at finishing it in no time! (OK, OK, OK... she threw in the towel 1/3 into it. I finished the rest :D)
Almost Heaven Desserts truly deserves its name... If the quality and service remain the same on our next visit, I've no doubt I'll be upgrading my rating to 5 stars! -

I'm in love with this place! Great atmosphere, strong coffee and desserts to die for. When I was pregnant, the apple pie was a must. The only thing I wish they would change is they don't ever sell any "birthday" type cake by the slice--it's all cheesecakes and pies and pastries. I've had their regular chocolate cake with buttercream frosting for a birthday, and it's amazing--sometimes I would just like to stop in for a slice of it.

Great desserts!!! Almost heaven has a large variety of cheesecakes, pies, cookies, and cakes. The birthday cakes from here are the best I've ever tasted. The restaurant also has a great atmosphere.
