I never realized that breads and pastries could taste this good, really. At home, I always have to toast or heat up my breads, fresh or not, simply so I can get that soft inside and crunchy outside texture. The Almondine baguette is exactly that.

Their almond croissant is absolutely to die for. The almond paste is soft which leaves the croissant a slight eggy and nutty texture along with the flaky pastry. For the almond-chocolate croissant, they use a dark chocolate so there is a slight bitterness that complements amazingly well with the almond paste. They offer almond, almond-chocolate, almond-raspberry or almond-chocolate-raspberry croissant. The raspberry is quite sweet so it does mask the taste of the almond paste a bit.  This croissant will haunt you forever and I can guarantee that you will not be able to look at almond croissants the same way again hahah.

They offer around 5-6 flavours of macarons daily. At $1 per macaron, it's a steal compared to the prices other bakeries in the city charge! The passionfruit and pistachio macarons are my favourite.

I have nothing but high praises for this bakery. I love this place!

I've been brainwashed by the french expat that sleeps next to me every night.  I'm convinced he whispers nationalistic statements into my ears during my slumber and when I wake up, I glorify all things French...

There's nothing quite like a good, crusty baguette that achieves a delicate balance of chewiness.  This is an anomaly in a sea of "french bakeries" in Manhattan.  And that is why I will make the trek across Brooklyn Bridge on foot to find myself in DUMBO at Almondine.  It seems to have the French seal of approval because the place is teeming with them.

I prefer the Almondine baguette over their french baguette and I like to stock up whenever I visit (store them in the freezer!).  And OMG the almond croissant...I'm salivating as I write.  Warm and flaky with a touch of sweet almond goodness.  It reminds me of the almond croissants in Paris.  Get there early because I've often suffered from almond-croissant-blue-balls when I rush in at 2pm and they're sold out.

When talking to an old high school friend who just moved to San Fransisco from Brooklyn, he went on and on about how he missed his favorite almond croissant at Almondine.  So when I flew into town for a friends engagement party, I knew this was one stop I had to make, and boy am I glad I did!   The space is small and was packed when I arrived but thankfully the line moved quickly because i was famished.  I ordered the almond croissant, beignet and a pear tart.  Let's start from worst to best.
The beignet came filled with a luscious raspberry cream that was a little to sweet and the raspberry flavor was a tad too intense for me.
The almond croissant was very good.  The amount of almond filing inside was just right.  Not to sparse and not too much.  Flaky and buttery.
But those two pale in comparison to the pear tart.  It's not even close.  i had to find a place to sit before my knees completely buckled underneath me.  Pear "wedges" cooked just soft enough, glazed, sitting on top of delicious custard, with a buttery bottom crust.  It haunts my dreams.  I considered writing a bad review of the pear tart just so the next time I go to NYC they would be readily available.  If you are ever in line and there is only one pear tart left, just know that I might be behind you and I'm willing to pull hair, bite and kick headsfor the last one...I don't care that they can make more!

Porkchop and I sampled the eclair, macarons, and some other pastry that slips my mind.

All were delicious.  Best macarons I've ever had (blackberry was my favorite, though the lemon, chocolate, and pistachio were good too).  The eclair was wonderful: the puff pastry melts in your mouth and the cream is rich and decadent.

I haven't tried the sandwiches, but I'd definitely return for the sweets.  Minus a star for being really expensive.

Ahh the French :D

This place gets it right. Do yourself a favor, stop by in the morning to get a good whiff of that fresh baked bread. Their pastries and cakes are the real strong suit. I wish there was more seating and a more comfortable environment in which to linger but you can't have everything. Coffee is nothing special but great tea selection. The sandwiches are also DIVINE. Who knew a simple roll with butter and ham could taste so good?

Tip: Also a great thing to do with Manhattan-ites or out-of-towners...the Brooklyn bridge park is just outside. Take the croissants and coffee to the bench and take in a gorgeous view.

Decent patisserie. Had a quick lunch here.
Per BF, the veggie sandwich was very good, lots of fresh eggplant, red peppers, broccoli and cheese.

The cream of tomato soup was good. But its hard to screw that up.

Will have to come back and try all the wonderful desserts.

CASH only.

Upon my never-ending quest to find the perfect lunch spot in DUMBO, I tried one of the sandwiches at Almondine today. Obviously, I was there to sample the wrong thing, as their pastry and desserts looked out of this world!

The sandwich I had, prepared on a fresh baguette that was very tasty, was a pretty traditional European work (aka BUTTER!). It definitely was a nice change to be in a different, quaint, atmosphere around here, but not so sure I'll go back for lunch for my hunger was only partially satisfied for the price tag attached.

This review is specifically for the macarons, which I was inevitably drawn to, stacked colorfully in their rows in the display case. I got one of each of the five flavors: black currant, pistachio, chocolate, passion fruit, and lemon. Miss, miss, miss, miss, hit. The lemon was the only one I thoroughly enjoyed because of the wonderful lemon curd filling it contained. The rest just weren't anything to write home about... pretty average.

VH and I came to Almondine for a quick bite while in the 'hood for the annual DUMBO Art Festival.

The place is very minimal in its decor, and has a few small tables for sitting. It's probably a good option if you want to grab a quick bite and then head to the Fulton Ferry Landing Park.

I had a nice veggie sandwich with eggplant, red peppers, broccoli, and goat cheese. It was good, but they could certainly have used more goat cheese, particularly since a sandwich is $7.25. Ouch!

Their pastries looked nice and tempting as well; I guess I'll have to come back...

Stopped by here on the way passing through the Brooklyn Flea under the bridge.  It seemed like a quaint little bakery with minimal decor and a straight to the point focus on their goods.

Staff were friendly and seemed into their products pointing out the goods they enjoyed the most.

I've never understood what it is about macaroons that cause them to cost so much for what a bite sized serving they are.  They're $1 a pop here with them being slightly smaller than most other places known for macaroons.  However, the flavor does pack a punch and if you told me they were each individually made instead of in a batch then perhaps I could justify the cost to effort ratio.

Seeing as there's so many people in this area it's certainly worth dropping by, but it's not a place you would journey out of your way to get to.

Oh la la...from the wilds of Bushwick the boyfriend and I rode over cobble stone streets and discovered this exquisite french bakery one weekend morning and I found heaven in the shape of the perfect croissant!  The lovely warm aroma of fresh baked bread and pastries will be the first thing to entice you if you happen to stroll down their block accidentally as we did.  We tried both a plain croissant and an almond croissant and both were outstanding.  I long for authentic, flaky, buttery croissants and after having to suffer the personal affront that is so many place's heavy, tasteless croissant-shaped offerings, this was true salvation!  The best time to go is early in the morning when the bread is freshest so wake up early, walk or ride to Dumbo and savor the morning view of Manhattan across the river with a croissant in your hand and a steaming hot latte in the other.  Bonjour!

As is the case with most places that are over-hyped, I didn't think Almondine lived up to its amazing reputation. I ordered two things, a plain croissant and a cherry macaron. The croissant was by far the more disappointing item. It was strangely dry and definitely far from buttery. I was so bummed I almost didn't eat it all (but then I remembered that we're in a recession and I stuffed the rest of the dry little croissant ends into my mouth).

The macaron was good, especially for a dollar. Macarons these days are so retardedly overpriced, especially since people have such a hard-on (sorry) for them. I admit that they're cute little buggers and they look like pastel colored dessert burgers but most of the time they're not worth the $3 for the one-bite. This one, however, is certainly worth the one buck.

Won't be going out of my way to go to Almondine but I'm glad I gave it a go. Maybe the sandwiches are good (they looked pretty yummy) but as far as croissants are considered... never again.

If you go here, get a beignet!  They are superbly delicious.... a perfect combination of tastes and textures: rolled in sugar with a crunchy outside, then a soft inside bursting with a sweet jammy interior.  Heaven.

The almond croissant was good but not amazing.  Iced coffee was standard, and the interior of the place wasn't anything amazing, either, but the BEIGNETS.... to die for!  One beignet was $2.65 and worth every penny.

A bakery should be about baked goods.  And the baked goods here are excellent.

I don't drink coffee.  I don't know how their coffee is.  Atmosphere?  I sat at some tables.  The tables were horizontal and held stuff.  That was fine.  There's some exposed brick and it's quiet enough to eat in, but not inspiration for redecorating my home.  The prices are the same as everyone else in NYC.  None of this matters, because the baked goods here are really quite good.  If you're in the area and want a meal, go for it.  If you're looking for a great bread to accompany a meal you're making, it's worth the trip.

Back In The Day, I was awarded a fellowship to study how bread is changing around the world due to changes in agricultural policy.  I wandered for 14 months doing nothing but eat on someone else's dime.  Included in my travels were apprenticeships in Parisian bakeries.  In Paris alone I went to 80 bakeries.  I kept spread sheets comparing their methods and results.  In the big spread sheet of French baking, Almondine wouldn't be at the top of the list - but it is one of very few bakeries in the US that makes baked goods that not only resemble, but could be compared to the French originals.

The sourdough boulle here is light and airy (a bit too much so for my taste) but still moist.  The peasant loaf has a good weight to it - though flavor could be much richer.  The baguettes are really nice - pretty crumb, rich and mild taste.

The pastries are good.  Croissants come in a variety of flavors - and though a bit too flaky (they shouldn't shatter quite so much) they are clearly made with some love and care.  Buttery without being overwhelming.  Depending on the day and the good - I have had a number of other sweets that went from amazing to mediocre - but never anything bad.

The sandwiches are great.  Solid, a wide variety, and always changing.  They highlight the bread while using a good range of fresh components.  A single sandwich will fill me up without making me overfull.

In sum, it's a good bakery.  Finally.

A regular lunch stop for me.  There's a changing selection of pre-made sandwiches every day.  I've always been pleased with whatever I've chosen, and I've gotten to try some things I'd certainly never have otherwise (pate sandwich?) .  The pretzel bread is also a favorite - basically, a very good grown-up soft pretzel.

Nice and reasonably priced, and pleasant to take it to go and eat in the nearby Fulton Ferry park.

I am not a sweet guy.

Let me rephrase: I am not a guy who likes sweets. OBVIOUSLY I'm a sweet guy.*

So when I accompanied a friend to Almondine on her mission for French macarons,** I was just along for the ride. Standing at that counter, casually looking at that beautiful display case, inhaling the heavenly aromas...I saw the pretzel bread. It was love at first sight.

They are just big, fluffy, salty, delicious balls of pretzel,*** overflowing with gruyere. And they are all mine.

I guess you could buy one if you wanted; but get me one too. Or at least give me a bite of yours. C'mon, it's just a bite! Geez. Had I known you were going to be this selfish, I wouldn't have told you about my delicious salty balls.

*Just ask my girlfriend. She can count the times she's had to call the police on me on one hand. And she's never pressed charges; not once!
**Vastly superior to those disgusting coconut things.
***Not to be confused with Chef's chocolate salty balls.

You know how sometimes you bake brownies or a cake and after you eat a slice you think to yourself, "hmmm....I think it would be ok if I had just a *teensy* bit more" so you cut off the tiniest sliver you can, but then after  5 minutes goes by you say to yourself, "you know, that sliver was SO tiny--I think I could have maybe one more and I wouldn't really be a bad person, plus I really should even out the ends here" so you go back and cut off another, and this process repeats until all of a sudden you've eaten 2/3 of your brownies/cake and can't help hating yourself a little bit?

This is what I'm doing right now with a loaf of multi-grain bread from Almondine.  I did not expect this.  I didn't know bread could taste so good!  I just thought it would be nice to have some fresh bread for sandwiches today, since J's recent deli meats purchasing activity can only be described as "overzealous".  But before making my sandwich I lopped off the end of the loaf, smeared some butter on it, and nearly cried out with joy at the delicious party in my mouth.  There were whole sunflower, poppy, flax and sesame seeds, oats, and other multi-grain-y items all vying for my attention, and I was happy to give it to all.
Since finishing my excellent turkey and ham club, I've been going back to the kitchen on a 10-min interval schedule for more slices of bread and butter.  Seriously, I can't stop.

OK, this is hardly a useful review, so here's a little more:  the smell of butter croissants outside Almondine assaults you when you've still got 5 stairs to get to the door, and by the time you're inside, your olfactory epithelium is singing hymns of praise to your legs for carrying you there. Everything is fresh and beautiful-looking and it is incredibly difficult to decide what you want because it's all just so gorgeous.  I haven't tried the sweet pastries, but if you went just for croissants and/or bread you'd have made a worthwhile trip to DUMBO.

I don't know what makes the "best baguette in NYC" but since I read that Almondine had it...I had to try it, and I must say, I made a darn good grilled veggie sandwich with goat cheese out of it.

As many of the other reviewers said, it's cute, good, and not insanely crazy  (or overrated, for that matter) like some other highly recommended bakeries.

While walking around DUMBO one Saturday I came across Almondine Bakery. It is directly across the street from the very popular (and my usual dessert stop) Jacques Torres.

My original plan was to grab some pastries here and then get the hot chocolate from Mr Torres. But upon entering this little bakery, I was amazed at the crowd and their happy faces, that I decided to order both the pastries and the drink here.

I got the creme brule and a strawberry shortcake with a large hot chocolate.

The creme brule was outstanding. I have had this dessert so many times at restaurants, bakeries and even at home that I know a good one from a bad one. It was nearly perfect and cost about $4.

The strawberry shortcake was pretty damn good too. I enjoyed the fresh strawberries that were sliced and placed inside this cake. The cake was moist and full of great flavors. Definitely recommend it.

Now onto the bad news...the hot chocolate is well...not so good. I love hot chocolate and was looking forward to this places version, but it was just way too chocolaty (and I love it chocolaty). It was as if they took a chocolate bar, melted it down and poured it into a cup. It was so rich and thick...I felt like I was chugging some chocolate syrup.

After a few sips, I was able to add milk, but then that milk had made the hot chocolate more of a cool chocolate. Still the taste was not so good, and I could not finish it. So I chucked it in the garbage at nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park and wound up later getting a hot chocolate from Starbucks on my way home.

All in all a nice place, great decor, very cozy, cool staff and a decent dessert alternative to the french guy across the street. But I highly recommend getting your goodies here, and then sprinting across the cobble stoned road to Torres for the insanely good hot chocolate.

Hands down, the best croissant in the World. Not just New York, not just the Western Hemisphere, but the World (including France).

Many times have I picked up two croissants (one plain, one almond), a cup of their coffee, and chilled in DUMBO Park enjoying the crunchy, buttery, flakey goodness, while enjoying general mental drift and observing the Brooklyn Bridge span lower Manhattan.

This is truly what life is about. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

I've been to this place several times. It's certainly one of the best reasons to go to Dumbo. I would have given Almondine 5 stars for their pastries are truely delicious!!
However, I minus 1 because their staff are lazy and unhelpful. Or I always have bad luck with that latino guy and indian lady serving me...

strawberry shortcake

their cup cake & chocolate macaroon are huge. but taste only OK for me.

I stopped in yesterday to check it out after hearing lots of rave reviews. I bought a sampler of their macarons, one of each kind. They tasted like stale refrigerator air. Is this the best bakery you've ever been to? Perhaps not. But if I was to choose _one_ bakery to have right next to my office so that I can enjoy raspberry almond croissants or financiers in the morning, a consistently good variety of sandwiches on great bread for lunch, and almondine cakes or berry eclairs in the afternoon - I can't think of a better choice right now.

There are leg men and there are breast men.  I'm a bread man.

I love bread. Not Wonder Bread or anything that comes in a plastic bag at the supermarket. I'm talking hard-crust, well-crafted fresh bread with rich, flavorful dough. I eat it at breakfast, I eat it at lunch, I eat at dinner.

So, with some sense of self-possessed authority, I am going out on a limb to say that the best bread I've found in all of this crazy city was right here at little Almondine in DUMBO. The multi-grain loaf is a bread-lover's delight. The crust is just right--crisp without being rock hard. And the dough, oh the dough!  Full of flavor, thick and chewy. It blows away Balthazar or Amy's (both of which I like very much).

Add to this a wonderful selection of deserts and an atmosphere bursting with the eclectic energy that is DUMBO, and Almondine is a treasure.

Another reviewer says that everything they have at Almondine is the best in the universe. Well, maybe if you mean the universe à la Epcot or Vegas.
Don't get me wrong. The croissants here are the real deal. Crisp and flaky outside, soft inside. No relation whatsoever to those nasty Pillsbury roll-like monstrosities that pass for croissants at all the donut carts and in most of the bakeries around the city.

But there are better croissants to be had here in NYC (ok, maybe not in Brooklyn). Almondine makes my 2nd or 3rd favorite almond croissants in the city. If I lived or worked near DUMBO, they'd be a great treat.

As for Almondine's other pastries, you'll find better versions of most items and a considerably larger number of menu choices at several patisseries in Manhattan. In fact, on my first visit to Almondine I was surprised by the smallness of the shop and by how limited the selection was.

Now, you may ask, does the size of a shop really matter all that much if what they sell tastes good? Maybe not. But if you look carefully, you'll notice that someone in the kitchen tends to be a little sloppy in constructing the pastries. The layers of the mousse cakes are often uneven, for example. Along with having lots of goodies to choose from, it's attention to little details like presentation that makes all the difference in determining the truly great patisseries.

And the staff can sometimes be a little snooty.

In short, Almondine is a nice little pastry shop. But hardly the best in the universe.

Ate lunch here during the DUMBO Arts Festival. Croissants ($2.65) are pricey but everything else like Iced Coffee ($2.50) is reasonable. They sell homemade beignets, big choco macaroons, etc. The Turkey sandwich w/ cheese bread looked awesome but was sold out when we went back...gotta go back gotta go back for them!

Ordered:
-Smoked Salmon in Focaccia ($7.25) - Lots of bread here, salmon was very fresh and not too salty, very good!

Just a block from the East River, two bronze baguettes guard the sleepy green doors that open to Almondine, the partnership between Jacque Torres and Herve Poussot, the sleepy bakery that draws to itself little attention.  A courtly bench beneath clean windows belies the exceptional pastries breads, sandwiches, soups and ice creams that are sold over the counter inside a building, which formerly was a pepper factory.

Three times daily, fresh bread--sourdough and whole wheat, traditional baguettes, and concupiscent loaves of raisin hazelnut and other savory concoctions--are baked, without molds or forms, and arranged behind in baskets along the wall in rows not unlike the faithful clientele who wait in quiet queues for a taste of the city's best bread.

Roger Gural, a veteran of Parisian and Niçoise bakeries, bakes the bread on stone and stores it in cloth-lined baskets eschewing the efficiency of molds and plastic for Old World traditionalism.  He can be spotted in freshly pressed chef whites commandeering sacks of flour and a fleet of stainless steel mixers, speed racks and proofers with the silent command of a grizzled field marshal.   Beside him, Poussot, the former pastry chef of Payard and La Bernadin, can be spied dotting pastries and cakes with a clean-shaven look of concentration and infallibility.

Almondine is remarkably unconcerned with the marketing flair and assertive self-promotion that partner Torres' chocolate shop, just across the street, possesses.  Up a short flight of stairs, the café opens to a few small tables on the left and a counter of plastic utensils and condiments before glass counters are spotted in the back, within which are tarts, éclairs, mousses, financiers, croissants and cookies that defy temperance. Drawn to the back, customers pass a longer counter with delectable sandwiches--roasted eggplant and cauliflower; mortadella, butter and cheese; lox, cream cheese and cucumber--and an icebox of velvety caramel ice cream and iridescent currant sorbet that runs the length of the store and ends at the cashier.

In the morning, croissants (plain, almond, or chocolate) and berry muffins with a perfectly brewed fair trade espresso will convince you that triple cream butter and pitch-black brew is nothing short of the perfect start.  For lunch, a sandwich--the turkey on sliced poppyseed, for example--and an Orangina will carry you well past suppertime.  The eponymous Almondine is an oval of cocoa dusted chocolate encasing layers of praline and moist chocolate cake that is seductive in its appearance so deft in texture as to alarm

Daily soups are made.  Rich and creamy, they are always in the $5 range and have included such staples as crème of broccoli, carrot-ginger, and cold tomato; none of which seem remarkable when written on a whiteboard, but when prepared fresh and done with great care are perfectly sufficient as lunches with one of the pretzels rolls that crest like mountains in a Dr. Seuss story.

While Torres' chocolate shop attracts trainloads of tourist with fancy cameras and overstretched Adam's apples as well as over-eager Brooklyn foragers wandering onward from Grimaldi's, Almondine has a steady stream of local artists, Francophiles and locals who deplete the shelves of the finest items by 3pm.

It is a perfect partnership: A bizarre dichotomy.

This insouciant treasure (given a near-perfect 28 by Zagat) is as void of décor as it is larded with neighborly secrecy.  In any event, the fair trade coffee, sizable portions and reasonable prices make it the best deal in all of DUMBO.

Amazing desserts, pastries, and breads. Everything I've tried has been good and most of it has been amazing.  Their croissants and pains au chocolat are easily the best in NYC (along with Ceci-Cela) and would rival anything you'd get in Paris.  Same goes for the baguette, which is just crusty enough but not overly so, just how I like it.  Their sandwiches, while good,  have never wowed me, although the cheese pretzels and quiches are delicious.
It does get crowded especially on the weekends, but if the weather is nice, Brooklyn Bridge Park is just a block away and it is a perfect place to enjoy your treats from Almondine.

E-friggin'-thereal.

I've been frequenting here for years, but last summer I moved into the neighborhood and now try to keep it down to about 3x/week.

I literally love everything, and everything they have is the best in the universe: the croissant, the cakes (which are great for birthdays), the pretzel bread with cheese, the baguette, the macaroons, the muffins, the SANDWICHES. Oh my god. It's so insanely good.

In terms of ice-cream, my husband thinks it's also the best in the city, though I think it's just slightly second to Blue Marble.

Somehow, I can always justify sparing no expense, or number of calories.

WORTH A TRIP FROM ANOTHER PLANET.

Common knowledge: Almondine's flaky almond croissant will make you swoon. And the cookies? Buttery perfection. The sandwiches? Delicious.

Secret: If you are lucky enough to live somewhat near-ish to Almondine, this little gem of a bakery will deliver, on weekends, "room service" to your front door.
That's right, my pastry loving friends: A little taste of France can now be had from the comfort of your own home.

I remember this one time I was talking with an old-timer at d'Amico, and I asked him, "so, what did you call DUMBO before it was DUMBO?"  He looked at me like I was crazy.  "What do you mean, what did we call it?" he said. "We didn't call it anything!  No one went there!"

Sometimes I think of that when I'm surrounded by all the perfectly-groomed little dogs, art book stores, and beautiful young families who make up DUMBO today. And especially when I'm at Almondine - for my money as good a French bakery as you'll find in NYC.  (Technically a terrible segue.  But I wanted to tell that anecdote.)

Anyway: the pastries are wholly authentic here; they even give you a little wax-paper bag like the ones you'd find in Paris.  Unlike a real French place, Almondine is both a boulangerie (bread bakerie) and patisserie, but it manages to do both well.  The baguettes are delicious.  The quiche is tied with Bouchon as my favorite in the Apple - dense and creamy with a delicate, savory crust.  Sandwiches and soups, while pricey, are excellent; I've never had a bad one, although the selection rotates.

My favorite is breakfast: croissants, while a touch salty to vie for the crown, are flaky and good, and all their viennoiserie permutations are delicious.  I especially like their "French donut," a briochey sphere absolutely bursting with raspberry jam.  Coffee is strong and good.

There are always lots of French people here, which I take as a good sign (although in general I think the 'look-for-native-customers' rule is sort of silly; would you trust just any old American in another country?) Overall,, though, I find the layout and the atmosphere somewhat lacking; it's a pretty uninviting space, and in cold weather there's not really any nearby spot for snacking.  I wish they could annex the next-door space for tables - but then, it really is a takeout bakery, and it  does that absolutely brilliantly.  I often make the trip from Greenpoint!

Almondine rocks...another great new school Brooklyn bakery...My second trip to this den of delish and it is the main reason I trek to Dumbo.  Wow pastries, my fave is the almond croissant which is properly darkly baked with great flavor.  Homemade lemondade was a lovely thirst quencher after the walk from the train station.  The baguette here looking so darkly perfect is calling my name for another day.

I went here for the first time on Sadie's recommendation and it was everything she claims it is and more.  I plan to make it a part of my regular Saturday morning dog run/greenmarket circuit.  The smell of fresh croissants emanating from the bakery in the morning was mouthwatering and the raspberry-filled one I had did not disappoint.  More notably, my very petite friend and I each bought one of their enormous sandwiches, expecting only to eat half, and the next thing we knew we'd both polished off the entire thing.  Yes, they were that good.

My one complaint is that the tomatoes on my ham-and-brie sandwich didn't taste like much, but what else can you expect at this time of year?  Maybe losing the tomatoes and a little more mustard would have done the trick.

I can't complain.  While shopping at the DUMBO Brooklyn Flea shops, I got a little hungry.  And having never been to DUMBO before, I took the chance to walk around.  And glad I did because I've heard of Almondine before and have always wanted to make the trip.  Although I didn't try the desserts, I did buy their brioche and finished it on location.  Yummy!  Paired with a Fizzy Lizzy and my tummy was hap-hap-happy!

If I could bring my bed into the shop I would live there. I was in Paris for New Years "08" and walking into this shop brought back memories.  The delicious sandwiches wrapped in paper and the scrumptious desserts screaming at me to buy them were reminiscent of the Patisserie's I often visited.  Oh the desserts are dangerous, so dangerous I bought four almond croissants for myself.   Shhh, please do not tell anyone.

SO GOOD!
