I happen to like this restaurant. Im going to admit though, it PRICEY... You could literally drop a week's paycheck on this place. However, I have been recently been introduce to French Cuisine, and I am seriously loving every second of it! This is just another french adventure tucked under my belt.
Food is amazing.... the food definitely has a European touch to it. Even the table bread...beautiful Chiabatta bread, crispy and hollow like it should be. Cheese platter was yummy... had an assortment of cheese such as Brie, Parmesan, Gorgonzola, I think Jarlsberg, and some other kind of cheese with an accompaniment of dried cranberries and apricots. If you're a cheese lover, I definitely recommend this! I also had Duck Confit salad as an appetizer, which was different, but delicious- as my company had octopus that totally melted in your mouth. We both had steak which was cooked to our liking- a HUGE plus in my world. Don't you just hate it when you ask for medium rare and you get like medium well instead? But anyways, you know it's a good restaurant when the chef cooks your steak the temperature you ask for. We also both had dessert, and to be honest... it seemed a little Plain Jane. I don't even think they offered creme brulee which is like a staple french dessert. I think they offered brownies and what not. Oh well, I can't complain too much. I did enjoy my meal.
Decor- not sure exactly what to say. They had this red wallpaper with zebras on it. For me, it worked!!!! I kind of liked it :-)
Service was everything you would expect on a more high end restaurant. They were definitely professional- attentive and courteous. The only thing that bothered me with my server at that time was that our server took forever to get our bottle of wine. We got our cheese platter and our appetizer before we received our wine. But it's ok...as long as we got it.
Parking is pain LOL. Im not going to lie... They do not have their own private parking lot. You are at the mercy of street parking. If anything, you may have to park on the other side of the village and take a short walk to the restaurant. It's not as bad it sounds. If you don't like walking, have someone carry you. It's worth trying this place out.
But anyways, as Julia Child would say, "bon appetit!" -

I was disappointed in the food. I had heard so many things about this restaurant that I was expecting much more. I had a great endive salad with pears, and candied walnuts. My husbands pâté was ok. For main course we both had lamb meatballs and I did not love them. My husband liked his more than I did. My desert was very gods, but my husbands was the apple crustini and the crust was horrible, actually not eatable. Service was good.

Brilliant service, great simple elegant food and a decent, well priced wine list. A Hamptons favorite. Just make sure you get a reservation as the wait can be long

Was told mussels here melted in your mouth so had to try and they were right. They offer two sizes and if you want them for your meal get the larger size and it sill be plenty. Also had the artichoke salad which would have been better if the artichokes were a little more tender. But I'm still sticking with 4 stars for the mussels. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the artichoke salad.
Quick tip: reservations book up fast even on a Sunday at 2pm the earliest I could get was 8 pm. So make sure you book them a week in advance if you want your choice of time. -

this review is based on service and NOT on food...
I have never been so disrespected in a restaurant before in my life.
We went there tonight for a post Irene dinner. We called around 4pm and were told that they were not taking reservations and to just walk on in.
We showed up at 7:30 and were told it would be 1.5 hours. We grabbed a drink at the bar and after about 45 mins we went to check on our status. The hostess told us it would be much less than she had quoted us and that we were on top of the list. We waited for another 20 minutes and saw that 3 tables were available. I returned to the stand to ask if one of those tables was for us and Eric (apparently the owner) tore into me saying that he didn't understand my need to know when I was going to be sat.
I let him know that we were trying to make a decision regarding whether to wait longer or leave. He then told me that he didn't have a table for us at all that night- basically denying us service. I was shocked and told him that I couldn't believe how he was treating a customer. We left and have no plans on returning to this place.
There are plenty of other restaurants in the Hamptons biting at the bit for our patronage. In this economy you can't afford to charge $12 for a cocktail and be rude to your customers. -

Love coming to the Almond. Always a Friday night staple! The bartenders are so friendly that we have actually never taken a table. Eat at the bar...actually please don't because you'll hog my seats. Owner is always ridiculously pleasant and accommodating. The new location is WAY better than the last. It does get busy especially/obviously on the weekends. Will agree the food is expensive but its good! They also, without asking, split the dishes my friend and I were sharing so we had our own portions and our own plates. That blew me away! No one does that! And to the guy that wrote about the "crusty queens"... then don't come here. I live in NYC and go to bars that have legit "crusty queens" so come off it.

Such a great restaurant. Friday nights are the best, but I love going on a quiet weekday. The owner is amazing and totally sets the mood to be the great environment which it has become. Great food, great people, great drinks (esp the cosmo's) and a great setting. Would definitely recommend (both locations!)

Almond is one of the more dependable restaurant options in the area whether with a small group or larger party. The staff is nice & accommodating, the food is consistent and the prices are fair. The bistro atmosphere with little or no attitude is a good weekend stop-off point.

The Almond is a staple of the Hampton's. There's nothing better than pulling into the Hampton's Friday evening, and having a nice dinner at The Almond to kickoff your weekend.
I'd suggest making a reservation if you're looking to go on a summer weekend. Around 10pm it turns into more of a bar scene (somewhat sceney, but still fun). If you're looking for a good laugh, go on Saturday nights for karaoke. -

As an event planner, I produce a charity fundraising party in the Hamptons every summer for a nonprofit. For the past few years, my boss and I have been treated to a very special dinner at Almond as a thank you for our hard work.
Every year I order the hangar steak, which is a reasonable $25 for dinner. The steak is served one of three ways, with sauce bordelaise (which contains roasted shallots and marrow), au poivre (a spicy peppercorn sauce) or with crumbled Roquefort (steak covered in cheese, genius!) As a tradition, I order the sauce bordelaise, which is delicious because marrow is amazing. I never knew!
I also enjoy the wine menu. I always order a cabernet with my steak, and suggest that you steer clear of the local whites, which are produced on Long Island. My dinnermates really enjoy the martinis too.
My only suggestion would be to offer a lighter side dish option. I always forget that the steak is served with fries and I always forget to replace it with a healthier side, like broccoli or a salad. -

I was there the night of Hurricane Irene too. Incredible that they were open- winds were still blowing 50mph and no one else had power. Great effort guys!! I think that Dominique reviewer was part of the couple who actually tried to take a swing at the restaurants owner. Couldn't believe it when I saw it! Maybe they were trying to get into Page 6 or something? Drinks were cold, food was great, everyone else was having a fantastic time.

Love it. Love it. Love it. Well, that isn't to say I love the food. I've only ever seen the food, which looks great. Almond, however, on Saturdays at 10:30 turns into the scene. Almond goes Karaoke at 10:30 on Saturdays. All the boys and men show up to croon, rock and pop it all out. From daddy's to boys, and fashionistas heading to the Hamptons for the weekends, the fun rolls in and rolls out to the next venue of fab.
A couple Saturdays ago when I was there, a cute 20-something decided to take to the bar with his very own rendition of "I'm too sexy" bringing on a not all that raunchy, but fun, bit of audience participation.
Young and old... It's good fun. -

Ignore the review from Dominique G. We witnessed the event. We were waiting for a table too. She and her male companion were very nasty and had a lot of attitude at Almond. The host and hostess treated them nicely. The couple just wanted to push their way to the top of the list in a very busy restaurant.

With a Saturday reservation In June after 8 you would expect a good Hamptons restaurant to be in it's groove...well our experience was that they acted slightly slammed with spotty service, inconsistent food and faulty AC...if conversation is what you want...practice voice projecting or sign language as the decibel level is high. Visited on a Monday night last and you can forget about all the negative above...smarter move for this one...m

New location for 2011. Owners make you feel like your are a personal friend coming for dinner. A crowd of regulars who know everyone and don't like a lot of change in the menu. Steak frites and oven roasted chicken over smashed potatoes have been popular for years.

I love Almond, I especially love Almond in the Hamptons. It's a great spot to go for strong drinks and yummy French bistro cuisine. The service is great as well. It's definitely one of my regular I want a semi nice dinner places in the Hamptons. I love the croque monsieur, mac & cheese, steak frites with roquefort cheese. The creme brulee is very good too. The martinis are strong and yummy.

I wasn't impressed. When a restaurant has an extremely limitted menu, I generally assume that all the dishes are top notch. Not so at Almonds. We all got something different, and the steaks, chicken, and fish were all just so-so. My chicken was dry and flavorless, and the potatoes that came with it were gluey and over salted. My brothers got steaks, both said they were unremarkable. Mom got the flounder, which was, again, overcooked, and covered in too much STUFF (carmalized onions, breadcrumbs, etc.) A good peice of fish doesn't need all that garbage pilled on top of it.
Their Mac-n-Cheese was good, though. We ordered a side of it for my daughter (age 2) as soon as we were seated so she wouldn't have to wait. She ate a lot of it. But then again, she eats anything. Parents of older kids should know beforehand that it is a "grown-up" mac-n-cheese, made with gruyere.
Overall, we were all disppointed. I asked the bartender at the hotel that night what he thought off it and he said, "Oh, Almonds? Nobody really goes there. It's for tourists."
There you have it. -

East Hampton, NY
This is honestly by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. They lied to us for over an hour about when our table would be ready, when one of our party went to the bathroom they grabbed her chair without asking to put at another table, the food was mediocre and horribly hideously expensive, this gross creepy maitre'd screamed at us when we objected to our chair being taken away, and the noise level is HIDEOUS!!!! DO Not go here unless you are a TOTAL masochist

Fancy night out dinner in the hamptons. It was quite a scene here on the saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. We sampled a bunch from the menu, but the overall favorite were the mussels. It's also the best bargain on the menu. The service is not the reason to go, although the waitstaff is. Yay for attractive actors waiting tables in the Hamptons to pay the bills. I have no need to check out the one in the city.

Port Washington, NY
Service was slow. The mac and cheese was very good. The eggplant three ways wouldn't even pass as a freebie, and the chicken liver on crostinis was liquidy. The linguini con vongole came with only one bite of pasta. When it was sent back, it returned with two bites of pasta drowned in oversalted sauce.

almond is a lovely and lively place with a look that is vaguely reminiscent of schiller's. since we wandered in on a whim at primetime on a saturday night we didn't expect to get a table, so instead we staked out the last three seats at the bar. the bartender was extremely funny and personable and our drinks were great. the menu was tantalizing but we were only there for something light pre-party. i settled on the amagansett salad which was perfect. fresh corn, summer beans, bacon, manchego cheese and buttermilk dressing. light, tasty and very filling without being too much. my sister had the shrimp cocktail which was massive and extremely fresh. our food came out in less than 5 minutes from when we placed our order which was particularly mind-blowing since the restaurant was jammed. would definitely return.

Great Atmosphere, don't go for the food. If you must eat, have the burger.

i wasnt blown away by the place, but i also didnt order the most involved dish so that probably had a lot to do with it. i had a turkey burger; my dining companions had a heaping plate of mussels and a croque madame, respectively. they both also felt just "eh" about their selections.
the atmosphere at almond is nice tho- very low-lighting and candles at the table make it a little romantic, but on a sat night the place was filled with all different configurations of diners- couples, families, large groups of friends...which created a loud, festive ambiance.
i had read in a review that there was karaoke here at like 10.30 on satruday, but when 10.45 rolled around and there was no sign of it, we asked our waitress and she said they werent doing it that evening, for whatever reason. i was really disappointed by this- i felt like some good karaoke could have bumped this review up to 3 stars.
