My wife and I have been going for years. Almarco is a great "nite out", having a great meal , in a nice setting without costing a fortune. The Chicken Francaise is one of the best I've ever had. The owner is always warm and welcoming as well as the bartender and staff. Give it a shot, great bang for the buck!

This was my second visit to this narrow little Italian restaurant in the past 2 months, which adjoins Wall Street and the municipal paring lot, and I was very comfortable in my expectations for the place: neatly arranged tables, excellent food and service, and an average price for the area. While there is not a shortage of Italian restaurants in the Huntington, NY area, Almarco represents the basics of its cooking range in an easy manner, without the fluff or bs of some other places in the immediate vicinity,
We had arrived hungry, after an exhausting day looking at cars for the family, and got right into the menu. Our assigned waitress was very present and ready with answers to our questions. Asking for a split portion was easy when we wanted to try the perfect Caesar's salad and checking on their specials was an easy moment.
With a parting glance, i noticed the other diners and their plates. I spied an interesting rigatoni dish, which sparkled my interest, and then made a query to my server. She explained it was the basic rigatoni with this and that added. Zing! That would be mine, too.
As dinner progressed in full service, I enjoyed their Merlot and Malbec servings while plowing through the healthy portion of my plate. Unlike some places that heap mounds of food on to your plate with the flavor of "family style" that is meant to be shared, Almarco serves their plates on the heavier side of the portion, which is good if one if hungry, but it also means one will not be taking anything home.
Beyond the portion size, the quality of the food served was 1st rate. I suppose I could have ordered "al dente", but the pasta based dish came out fairly close to that while maintaining its passion of the moment. It was perfect for me at the time.
With a very dense cheese cake served that reminded me of the ones made without white flour, I got the check, which I examined and found to be just fine.
I am looking forward to my next visit to Almarco in the coming weeks when I am in my home town of Huntington again. -

As our Friday night routine has become to find a place in town to have a drink and some appetizers, we decided to stop here and give it a try. We took a seat at the table right by the window were we could watch the world go by as we enjoyed our food.
We order a couple of glasses of the house Italian red wine. The portion was quite a healthy one. We ordered the fried calamaris, Bruschetta sampler, Mozzarella and Tomato salad and the Fried Mozzarella. The service was nice and quite professional.
The first food to arrive was the bread with a dip of olive oil which was quite good as the bread was very warm and soft. Then we received the Bruschetta Sampler and the Tomato and Mozzarella salad. Then the hot items arrived. Every single dish was delicious specially the fried mozzarella with the red sauce. However, the least favorite one was the fried calamari as it felt that it was just under seasoned and a little bit under cooked.
However, the overall ambiance, food and service makes this a place I would like to try again for a full meal.Listed in: The Top Restaurants in…
