I love this park!  It has a great track for running or walking.  Very cushioned and bouncy, no pressure on your ankles or cankles =P I try to come here at least twice a week to jog.  The park does get a lil crowded and packed during the evenings but parking is never a problem.  There's plenty of spots at and around the park.

They renovated the lake so now there's lots of ducks, geese and birds roaming around.  Watch out for poopoo, there's a lot!  The squirrels there are quite friendly and aren't afraid of ppl.  They actually come up to you...very cute!  There's also a jogging goose!  I kid you not, this goose actually jogs around the track.  I've seen him go around the track 5-6 times and he's still not tired.  He exercises more than most ppl!  It's so cute watching him wobble around the track.  He tends to follow this one lady and I only see him when she's there.  I wonder if it's her pet, anyone know?

They have a big gymnasium there for all those badminton and ping pong enthusiast.  I recommend you come early.  Lines will start forming 30 mins before it's even opened.  There's also basketball courts, softball fields, and plenty of grassy area for a game of soccer.

Don't forget to come here during 4th of July, the city of Alhambra puts on a pretty cool fireworks display show...best of all, it's free!  Parking will be a B so come early to secure a spot!

So get off your lazy butt and come take a walk/jog at the park and enjoy nature! =)

I have so many childhood memories at this park!  I use to come here all the time to feed the ducks, watch the fireworks during July 4th, bbqs, and my cross country team often trained here!  Nowadays, I'm usually here to run!  I always feel good whenever I come here!  I like to people watch and it's always nice to see families having birthday parties or parents coming to cheer on their little ones for sports games.  I really feel like I live in a tight knit community.

    THE GOODS:
-great running trail.  I think a complete figure eight, which goes around the pond and bball courts is a little over a mile.
-happy kids, families, people from all sorts enjoying the great outdoors!
    -benches and tables for parties
    -the good 'ol pond
    -abundant parking

    GOOD/BAD:
-crazy squirrels!!!  I hate, hate squirrels and the ones that live here are like ninjas!  They pop up from nowhere and I literally feel like I'm doing an obstacle course sometimes.
-crazy ducks!  If you sit on the grass near the pond, beware!  I got "pecked" once and it hurt like hell.  The animals here run around like nobody's business.
-the man who bbq's on the days their are softball/baseball games.  Sooooo difficult to run past him and smell the burgers and hotdogs... evil.

    THE BADS:
-the people who stand on the running/walking/biking trail to chat with their homies.  Please move aside so the runners/walkers/bikers can use the trail!  Thanks!

Forgive me for being a non-Chinese descendant.  When boyfriend and I just arrived at this location for a bbq, it felt like we were plopped in the middle of some kung-fu movie!  Everywhere we looked, there were people jogging, stretching, feeding ducks, and doing some form of martial arts!  Just like in the training centers from all my movies! These things DO exist!

Enough of my ignorance to the world.  This park is pretty neat.  It's decently clean considering that there are a LOT of people who come here to get their work out on.  I feel like the main attraction here (besides the food we had) was the pond.  Lots and lots of turtles, geese, and guppies to be seen.  Give your kid some bread and they'll have an experience they'll never forget.

PS. watch your kids when they chase the geese.  Those things are evil....

I used to come to this park when I was young, and didn't appreciate it much until I revisited this place recently. The pond, the fountains, the ducks, the huge gazebo, who gets parks like this in 626? People bring bread to feed the ducks like they were their own and people don't care. The gazebo is so huge you can have your whole party fit in there. I don't think there's many parks in the area that have such nice features and to have such a big park.

I came here to walk off a meal. It was pretty nice and clean. It has a fountain and geese. They don't have that in parks near me. If I lived closer, I would use the track here.

Theres a pond in the middle of the park and if you watch closely turtles come up. I stood there with my boyfriend watching what looked my hundreds of them popping their cute little heads out of the murky water.
Theres a playground for children, tennis court, mini-trail perfect for bikers, open field for various sport activities, and multiple picnic tabled areas for barbecues or just hanging out. When i went it was a saturday and quite crowded though.

The hubby wanted to go somewhere to walk the dog (and the wife).
We were just wondering the other day if the pond at Almansor Park was still full of turtles.  Some years ago, we rented the gazebo  patio http://www.yelp.com/us...   by the pond http://www.yelp.com/us...  for a party and our guests were amused by the gazillion turtles swimming about.  It was like everyone in the neighborhood abandoned their turtles here.

So we get there and start by walking around the outside street path.
I was excited to see how many people were using the walking path inside the park and was wanting to let loose my mad power-walking skills on there.

    But.......uh oh.
As we rounded the restroom area, there it was.......a "No dogs allowed" sign.
    It's a city ordinance. http://www.yelp.com/us...

    Darn.
Being law abiding citizens, we picked up our Weezer and carried him back to the car.
Poor Weezer, there were so many trees and bushes he wanted to do his leg lifting exercises on.  He whined all the way home.

Two days later, I was in a walking mood, so I returned by myself.
I gained an appreciation for Almansor Park.
It's well-used by the community and has lots to offer.
It's much cleaner than the parks in my city.
There was so much going on, I kept stopping my power walk to be a lookee-loo.

Watched a bit of basketball- http://www.yelp.com/us...
Wanted to go see the lawn bowling greens, but I would have had to climb over a barrier, so nope-  http://www.yelp.com/us...
Went to search for turtles- http://www.yelp.com/us...
Tiptoed through the duck & geese poop minefield to get a closer look at the flock.  Tiptoed away quickly because those birds were kinda scary!
Checked out the baseball fields and running track.
Watched a bit of peewee soccer.

I really liked the walking path's turf.
    http://www.yelp.com/us...
It was easy on my bum knee.
There's exercise stations along the way- http://www.yelp.com/us...
One round for today.  This is a big park.
Next time, I'll stay focused and oomph my game.  It was kinda embarrassing to be passed up three times by much older folks.  One of them was even doing the hands-clasped-behind-their-back walk and left me in his dust.

My husband teased me that I should go early in the morning to see if there's a Tai Chi crowd to join.
    Um....no.
Tried it once at Barnes Park and fell over.  A truly undignified moment in my life.
The walking path will do me just fine!

They drained the lake/pond, cleaned it out, and make it look all pretty again. Yay! Throughout the majority of my high school years it was either a murky green, or half-empty. I'm pretty sure I saw a sludge monster or two in there.

Now there's a bunch of HUGE (and I mean huge) geese and ducks in there, frolicking about. I can't tell you much. I'm hella scared of birds, so I try to steer clear of that area. It seems like families have fun feeding them though.

I had no idea that there were no dogs allowed. Oops. I brought my dog Bowser to the park last weekend, and my friend brought her dog too. We kept them on leashes while everyone else played Frisbee, and no one seemed to mind. We also saw another couple walking with their dog off leash around the park. Cute.

The track is filled with high hopes and shattered dreams. Many are starting out their "workout," while others are kicking themselves for not following through. Start running more, right? I tried and only went twice :(

At night there's a lot of elderly Asians walking though, and some people even like to bring out the strollers as well. I find it nice.

If you're serious about running, you can follow the extended track. It goes around the pond and the basketball courts as well, and I believe one full lap equates to a mile. Or I heard that three laps around the regular loop is also 1 mile, but I'm not sure.

If I were a dude I would totally not come to play basketball, because you guys that are regulars look so intimidating! :( Haha

I've been running at Almansor ever since I moved to the San Gabriel Valley in 2006. I come here early in the morning and in the evenings to train for my 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons. No matter the hour, this place is always filled with people.

I'm not a fan of the one mile trail past the basketball courts because it's pretty secluded so I almost always stick to the main loop, especially at night. I use the Endomondo app to track my mileage so I've discovered that two laps around the main loop is a bit over 1 mile.

After running on painful uneven asphalt at Lacy Park, my feet in my Vibrams definitely prefer Almansor's track. However, beware of the geese and squirrels. I've laughed at quite a few people chased by both. Perhaps, the honking is due to people running the wrong way on the track. As Danny E. pointed out to me, you are supposed to run counter-clockwise on the track. However, everyone runs clockwise here, me included.

Hooray! This is my 100th review!

Really nice park. There's 6 basketball hoops (half court), baseball field, tennis courts, and a huge grass field. The view and environment is nice, especially near the water. Its a great place to BBQ, chill, spend time with family/friends. Parking could be a little hard to find though especially on weekends. If you wanna reserve space under roof with benches, you could also do that but you gotta pay (not sure how much).

It's the biggest park in Alhambra. I come to run on the track and during the summers, a little flag football action on the lush green grass. Lots of open space with some interesting wildlife as welll (mostly ducks and squirrels). Overall, it's one of the nicer parks in the SVG.

What keeps it from a five-star rating are the basketball courts. They're neither full nor half. More like quarter courts. It's tight - there's no way to avoid spilling over to another court during a game. And there's always a large crowd. It's not perfect, but the other amenities do a decent job of filling the gap.

This review is for the golf course.

You know you have lots of choices as to where to play golf. If you're in the San Gabriel Valley and are looking to play a course where you can really play all your irons this is the place.

This is an 18 hole course that is less than 6000 yards. It is long enough that you can hit your driver but not so long that you can leave it in your bag if you don't want to hit it.

It does have some challenging holes where you can't see the flag and some shorter par fours that make you want to go for the pin from your tee shot.

They have great rate for twilight and super twilight during the summer and if you are looking for a late night driving range this is a good place to go to since it's the only place in town with multiple levels on the driving range.

Run...run...run as fast as you can...

This has to be one of the nicer parks in Alhambra area.  Whats not to like?  Got a small lake and animals roaming around freely.  Kind of brings you at one with nature.

I actually love coming here for a good run.  Gives you a nice scenic route to take instead of the standard mundane feel that you would get running around a school track.   Probably one of the best things is that it has a soft track so it'll be a lot easier on the knees than running on pure concrete which takes it toll on you after awhile.  Also, one full lap around the track is 1 mile instead of the standard 4x around a regular track.  Running 3 laps at the park vs 12x on regular track just mentally makes it seem more possible to complete.  Yes, I play mind tricks on myself to help me exercise.  =P

Aside from the awesome track, the park offers a lot of other outdoor sports activities.  They have a fitness circuit around the entire track, several half basketball courts, baseball field, and during summers they have open gym.

Definitely a great park to go to for exercising and just being outdoors.  Very peaceful.

I think this is one of the nicest parks around the Alhambra / Monterey Park area. Cleanest? Maybe not. But visually, it's one of the best.

The track during weekdays is usually crowded with seniors walking. If you're trying to squeeze in a good run before class or work, I suggest coming either super early, or later. The older people tend to get in the way with their groups. They block the whole track and what's worse is when they bring their umbrellas! Also, watch out for the squirrels. They're kinda mean... and fat. Maybe it's cause everyone feeds them and they've gotten to know humans better than squirrels you may find at Whittier Narrows.

It looks pretty nice, especially the gazebo area and near the pond, except for the ridiculous amount of poop on the ground. That area is nice for any photoshoots or whatnot. A lot of kids usually come and take their prom pictures by the rocks and the occasional wedding pictures. :)

I love coming here to run. The track is a little confusing when it comes to distance but whatever I mostly run for time. Evenings are usually packed with people of all ages walking on the track and playing soccer or other sports. So you continuously have to run around people when running.

I love going on the weekends cause it's not so packed in the mornings or mid-day.

I come here to get my (every other) daily jog / run in. Training for a 5k has to start somewhere right?

I only run during the night times (around 8 or 9 PM), when the crowd has thinned out somewhat. Any earlier and you practically have to run right next to the track since there will be someone in front of you every 20 feet. There's pretty decent lighting around the 0.6 mile loop of the track, even up to 10 PM (the latest I've ran). A good amount of people are either running, jogging, or walking as well, you don't need to worry about safety. I find that whenever I see someone else jogging, I just HAVE TO catch up and pass them, I can't stop myself! It really tires me out haha.

I do like the green turf they have around the track, it's pretty easy on the knees and other joints.

I used to come here and play tennis every weekend when I was in high school, that was pretty fun. They have 3 courts, and the maintenance is pretty good even now.

When I was a kid, I used to chase around the ducks quite a lot... heck, I was originally going to give this park 4 stars, but I'll give it 5 for nostalgic reasons now!

I've been going to Almansor more consistently just this year.

It's a nice little park with a figure eight running/jogging/walking track, which loops around, a good portion of the park. The park also has various exercise stations including sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups section, among others which I don't use. There are lots of people jogging, running, or walking the track, so it can get crowded.

Parking can be difficult after 4 pm inside the park, so opt to park in the street if you arrive after 4:30 pm.

On Mondays they have little league games. I'm not sure about other times during the week, since I mostly go on Mondays.

The baseball field lighting seems to go off by 9 pm and it can get pretty dark at the park.

In addition to the baseball fields, there are basketball courts and a pond. There are ducks and geese. Watch out for those geese.

Nice park, if you avoid the aggressive geese (bitter memories from the arboretum) and their large poops. The park has basketball courts, baseball diamonds (for little kids and for adults), tennis courts as well as a track that runs the perimeter of the park. It's a relatively small park that borders a golf course so the view is pretty nice.

Though there were plenty of families, random joggers, and group functions, a good portion of the park were overrun with obnoxious teenagers. Don't care too much for that..

I only come here for jogging around their 8-loop, yet somehow, there's still so much going off in my head that needs to be said.. I'll try to only put down things people might find relevant.

Not a morning person? They have lamps throughout the running trail that stay on late. I seriously can't remember until when or if I've ever been here late enough to see the lights go out. But at 9:30, you're still safe.

According to one reviewer, it's AstroTurf, another reviewer says it's tartan, another says rubber; in any case, it's not too bouncy. It definitely beats running on concrete though. Good for your joints! :) Or if you want even softer cushioning, both sides of the running trail are grassy (sometimes muddy).

Follow the trail and you won't get lost!! You can keep running circular loops, but if you want to do the 8-loop, you'll have to go off towards the lake and the basketball courts and the tai-chi masters. That side is less frequented by the old people taking strolls.

Hold your breath!!!! as you approach the trash cans! People talk about the bathroom stinking, but unless I'm mistaking the bathrooms for huge trash bins, what you really need to beware is the trash. It comes right before the bathroom (if you're going clockwise), and really, you can't miss it. Even if you're blind, the stink will hit you pretty hard.

Last, distance -- the large circular loop is just about 0.60 miles if you don't cheat and cut the trail. The full 8-loop is 0.95 miles according to my boyfriend's runkeeper. But I have my suspicions, and will correct this if it's actually inaccurate.

Come see the rest for yourself!

Came here yesterday afternoon around 7:30pm for a jog.  It's a nice park, although pretty crowded.  There's a lot going on- baseball game, people playing frisbee, basketball, volleyball (indoors), walking, etc.

There's a matted track to run around which was nice since I was tired of running on dirt. Although it was tough having to run around everyone else who was walking!  Loop is pretty small though; about half a mile according to my run tracker.

There's a golf course on the side, and a pond with ducks and seating as well. Lots of families and kids.

    Upsides:

    - clean
    - nice track
    - safe
    - parking
    - lots of activities to enjoy

    Downsides:

    - crowded
    - small track

I been going to Almansor Park since the 80s when I was a lower case G growing up in Alhambra. It hasnt changed too much since then. Now let me tell you the good, the bad and the ugly of Almansor Park.

First the Good - The Track is great, its paved and its a mile and when you run it you get to past by the lake which has all these pretty cool duckies - canadian geese and such (though my friend Joanne thinks they are smelly, shes jealous i think). You also past by the Bball courts and the Ralph Kiner Statue. The Park is also spacious so you can picnic and play football, kickball etc...

The Bad - The Basketball Courts at Almansor, whoever designed these monstrosities never played a game of basketball, there is no seperation between the 6 halfcourt courts, thus leading many times to interuptions in games and such and there is no definite out of bounds, the surface at times can also be slippery. I wish they would just create two full courts and get rid of the half courts. The tennis courts are always crowded and there seems to be classes taking care of them.

The Ugly - Even today when I went to play Bball (thats slang for basketball), I saw a fight almost broke out with some wannabe gangbangers. It seems these courts attract the wrong crowd and with the small courts, tempers flare, Ive seen too many fights here. When you walk/run the track some of the peeps arent polite and wont get out of your way and will bump you without saying sorry, bad manners. The bathrooms as I recall are horendous and at night dont seem to be open :(

I have to come clean and say that I am bias when it comes to this park!  I have grown up in the this community my whole life and have been running at this park since I was one!! It holds great memories for me!!

Here are reasons why I love this park and I will try not to be bias:
    1) the people are nice
    2) clean park
    3) always a soccer/baseball game going on
    4) great running track
    5) cute ducks in the pond
    6) 1 mean goose and 2 nice one- but highly entertaining!!!
    7) there are people running or playing through out the day - one would feel really safe at this park
    8) great place to watch fireworks on fourth of july
    9) can BBQ at the park
    10) has a basketball court near by
    11) green grass - great to picnic or naps
    12) spacious

These are some of my reasons!! But I am sure there are more reasons to love this park!!

Let me do it like this ... since a park is something I usually don't review, I'm going to tell you why this is a good place to bring a first date:

    - If you do just about any of the actviities available around the park, there's a good chance that you'll get to see your date's bodily fluids.

    - Make sure you stress the importance of stretching before any physical activity, there are several stretching stations around the walking/running track.  You can find out how flexible she is, it may come in handy.

    - If your date happens to play tennis, there are a good amount of courts.  But if you don't get there early enough, you may have to wait.  But patience is a virtue so if you're good ... you'll get a sneak preview of how sex might sound with all the grunts and moans as balls fly around her face.

    - Because the basketball courts are outdoors, there are no rules against hand-checking like in the NBA.  Go ahead and accidentally hand-check her chest and say "sorry, I'm super-competitive, I didn't mean to grope your chest"

    - If the date goes well, you can introduce her to one of your family members, that is if your Asian because I'm almost positive that one of your relatives are there because you'll find a group everywhere on the weekend either doing line dancing or tai-chi.

    - The perfect ending to a good date .... find a good place to eat near by the park.  You're in SGV so I'm sure you'll find some place.

If those are not good enough reasons for you to come here with a date ... then it's OK to come by yourself or with some friends to get your exercise on.

It's fun and you're outdoors ... you're sure to find something to do.

Ah, the memories I have in this park.  My first bf asked me to be with him here.  And this is also where we dramatically ended our relationship.  High school puppy love - what a load of crap.  I say its the one relationship that fucks up everything for ya in your future courting endeavours.  It will make or break you!!!

Anyway, this park is awesome.  It is big with tennis courts, basketball courts, huge field for soccer players, a track surrounding it for the runners, a children's area with slides and swings, a baseball field, an indoor gym with a b-ball court that can be transformed for ping pong and badminton players and .. it's just huge!

I remember when I was shootin' hoops in 8th grade here.  My best friend and I were usually the only chicks.  We'd team up with strange guys and kick their ass as they try to get to know us better.  "Are you in high school?" - guy.  "I'm 13, leave me alone," I tell them as I go for a lay up.  You can meet a lot of interesting folks here.

They have a lake that separates them from the Alhambra golf course.  Ducks shit and pee there.  You can chase the birds away til' your heart's content.  A lot of people come here to exercise and enjoy nature.  It's really a lovely place to go and relax - sober or drunk, sad or mad.

Community + Park = Almansor Park

May W. brought me here to enjoy our yummy drinks from Phoenix Desserts (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) just this summer. Never in my life have I ever seen a park so packed without a specific event being held there. I felt like it was Fourth July minus the fire works and food vendors, and just a bunch of people walking, running, eating, playing basketball, or just lounging around.

Packed with people? No, this park is not some dinky, small place, crammed with people in it. It's rather huge like everyone else has said. It has a track, that looks about a mile long or so that goes around a baseball field, and a huge pond area. And from any where you stood, you could tell the place was packed, and of all days, on a Thursday!

And as I mentioned earlier, this place definitely has a sense of community. I admired all the families who gathered together to talk on at a table or lay on the grass. I saw friends who got on the court to shoot some hoops or play a game of bball. There was a sense of encouragement and togetherness while people worked out together at the little workout stations around the track, or those who simply ran or walked on the track itself. It seemed as though this was not just simply park, but a place to get together and enjoy each others' company.

Now, I give this place 3 stars, because this really isn't my kind of park for two reasons. Number 1, space. I need my space if I'm going to work out and run. The track is just too packed for me, and I don't like to have to continuously change my pace or try to work my way around people. And number 2, I see a park as a place to relax and soak up the nature and scenery. Instead of nature's beauty itself, I saw a whole load of people, and I mean A LOT!

So if I were you, don't come here for a serious work out unless you don't mind working around people. Come here to gather with a bunch of friends or family. Or perhaps, do what May W. and I did, and show off some yummy drinks from Phoenix Desserts while walking against the traffic on the track.

I like this park because it has a walking/running track.  The weeknights get a little crowded with all the families coming out for a night stroll.  I usually walk my dog here on the weekends.  I don't think this is a dog friendly park, but I have a small dog and no one has yet to tell me that we're not welcomed =D.
They also have basketball and tennis courts (usually filled).
There's also 2 or so baseball fields and a small playground for the kids.  The sand doen't look sanitary though.  Ewww
Overall, I will keep coming here until they kick my dog and I out.

Almansor Park - you're such a nice place to relax and go for a run. But I can't seem to get that relaxation or enjoyment. Why? Because you have WAY too many people mobbing the place at all times.

I usually go to Almansor to run their short track - one lap being .6 miles is good for both short and long distance training. Plus, the track that you run on is easy for the feet and is well defined for majority of the lap.

The main problem? The run becomes somewhat of an obstacle course when you're trying to dodge little kids meandering around, or the annoying middle aged Asian folk (sorry if this offends anyone) that refuse to budge even when they see you coming up from behind them.

One old man even persisted to get in my way. I tried going around him from the right and he actually stepped into my way. So I decide to go left, and sure enough, he shifts left. *sigh* What did I ever do to you?!

All in all, the park is pretty darned safe. There's good lighting and  there's always so many people there, you're bound to be in someone's sight at all times - little risk of danger during high tide.

Now that I think of it, I actually don't know why I still frequent the park. For training purposes, the Rose Bowl is probably your best bet. 5km per lap - it's good! A little further, but I tend to like it a lot better.

I used to work here many moons ago,
back in the early 90s, YES that was so,
I was what they called a rec leader, sounded so gay,
Making $5.85 a hour, much to my dismay,
I prepped the softball fields driving a tractor,
Watered, lined, and prepped the area with a raker,
I also ran cross country here, it made me wanna puke,
My PR was 19:40, that was a total fluke,
Not much has changed, except for the added basketball courts,
The additional Chinese families walking and other cohorts,
Oh, if they have the sprinklers on, DON'T run through it,
It's reclaimed water from the duck pond, it's full of shit.

I used to come to this park all the time and ride my bike around it. Holy hell, what a great park centered around Alhambra. All around it is a good amount of suburban homes. So it meant that cars weren't going to plow you when you took your bike across the street.

I've also spent a couple of 4th of July's here. It's a lot of legal firework shows so you don't have to piss away any money away on those blowing up thing.

The park is actually very spacious for what you would expect it to be. There's basketball courts, tennis is also a fun activity to do here where you can actually get a court for yourself without too much of a wait.

The amount of shade here isn't all that much. I guess it just depends on what part you are in it. But a the outer rim of it has more trees than the inside of the park. So coming for a picnic can be a bit of a issue on finding somewhere in the park to plant your butt. But over all, it can really be a nice sit down under the trees, even if they are close to the cars and just enjoy a book, some sodas or just people watching as they jog by.

A great park all around. A def. spot to hit up if you're in Alhambra or you just got some Fosselman's icecream and want a cool spot to sit and enjoy it.

    I love this park!!!
Did most of my training for the LA Marathon here last year,
Now that I moved out to Irvine, I don't come to Almansor as often =(
Don't forget, follow the route..ONE entire around the park and the backway behind the basketball court equals one mile! Not just around the park on the lower level near the parking lot!

This place is always clean. I love the little sections along the track where you can do crunches, stretches, squats, etc.
It's usually pretty packed. Which is a good thing!
I would say the only time it's pretty dead would be on Sundays during lunch time.

Never really had any problems with other people. Except for one time back in April 2009...lol funny story...
I accidently locked my keys in my trunk along w/ my cell phone and everything else! I had a guy offer to help out and his crazy girlfriend tried to fight me and ended up beating up her boyfriend pretty badly. Cops were called to the park =x So yeah, that was the only bad incident I had at Almansor park. I still love this park and I continue to run here on the weekends I come back home =)

A great 1km or 1 mile jogging track, with a fitness circuit as well. The bad thing about it sometimes is that there are way too many walkers on the track that will sometimes block the whole pathway forcing you to run onto the grass. I have found that running the opposite way of the walkers direction will force them to move out of your way when they see you coming right at them. Ducks will also sometimes poo poo onto the track.

This is not a good place to play basketball though. Whose bright idea was it to make 6 half courts instead of 3 full courts? Many of the players are not so friendly here. It is also not a place to be at when the park is closed at night, cops will always drive in and kick you out.

Lots of grass areas to run around and play. great place to take your children and for picnics.

Parking can be a problem around 6ish, when everyone gets off work and they come here to run around the tracks.

they have two big areas for events like birthday parties and get together.

Review for the golf driving range.

I've been coming here lately only because my buddy likes to come here. Otherwise it's somewhat out of my way. The driving range has three decks. Top deck being irons only, they don't want you to drive the ball over the fences and possibly knocking some poor fool out.

Anytime after 5pm, the range prices is supposedly lowered. It's about standard for a large bucket (about 100 balls) which is $9. That's about right. The machine accepts exact cash only or you can also use your debit card. I've dealt with both and the transaction were both smooth.

There's a tiny shop which is about the size of a portal potty. The guy in there can give you change for the machine, change your grips on your clubs for about $8 a club, and handle any other inquiries.

Like most places, you can rent/buy the plastic tees for $1. You should just buy one, the size you prefer and always carry it with you whenever you go to the range because these days they don't offer tees for free. Back in the hay days tees were all over the place, populating driving ranges like horny rabbits. These days, I guess ranges are economically drained and also people keep jacking these tees.

There's a decent putting green with a nasty slope for practicing your putting. Also, I believe they have two chipping greens. Everything you need to perfect the most important part of golf, the short game.

They have a golf course here too but I have yet to try it out. In general, it's a nice all around facility. So when your pretty lady wants to go for a jog but you rather work on your swing, you can go to Almansor and she can go be Forrest Gump while you pretend you're Mr. Woods.

Almansor Park. A very nostalgic place for me. One side of this park shared fences with our little Christian elementary private school. For Phys. Ed. (PE, boo!!)  we ran our miles out at good ol' Almansor.

A very dear friend of mine (whose initials are J.J.) was without a doubt the class clown of our group- from grade two all the way to grade six. So naturally, when someone dared him to chase a one of the geese at the pond, he did. And inevitably got bitten right on the butt. Good times.

*Thanks for the years of entertainment, JJ*

This park will always have a place in my heart. I will forever remember it as an extension of our little school- whose fenced-in fields seemed once so vast to an itty bitty little 7 year old :o)

I have to give this place 5 stars for the sheer nostalgia it gives me...

Many years ago when I was but a child... I went to the school right next to this park... and we would run our miles here...

I will never forget the day they goose chased me around the track and helped me run my fastest mile...

As a little one we used to laugh at all the old(er) Asian people doing Tai Chi in the park... ha ha... funny Asian people... silly things they do...

Now that I'm older and in my *cough* teens... (thirties are the new twenties i hear)... I am now the one doing Tai Chi in the park...

    Oh how times change... =)

Big fleshy girls don't cry, they walk 5 brisk laps around the track at Almansor Park.

Yeah, I said walk. Gotta start somewhere, right? So the track is actually bigger than your average lap, I think. It's also got that fancy turf stuff to run (or walk briskly) on. There are a few different stops along the way to do push ups, stretch, and everyone's favorite: SQUATS. Ouch, feel the burn.

I've been here twice in the evening, and there are tons of people around playing basketball, tennis, etc. It's a really safe park and has lots and lots of parking available. I wish Almansor was closer to my house, cuz I'd totally go everyday! Or at least a few times a week. Or at least once a week.

Really I would. It's an awesome park.

tip: this place, especially the track is crowded most of the time, so be prepared to dodge walking folks while running (fun anyways)

one of the few parks with a padded track for running.  only gripe is that the track is not symmetrical, so you're not really running in a circle.  the regular route is about .6 miles, this doesn't include the extended route that spreads out along the parking lot and the pond.
