Freddie is an awesome massage therapist!
He listened to all of my concerns, and addressed my problem areas accordingly.
Gave great, super deep pressure and wasnt afraid to dig in
btwn my shoulder blades. I know this can be hard on massage therapist's hands
so I was sure to leave a generous tip.
And nice swedish style for the not-so-tense areas.
    Perfecto!
I dont think ive had a better massage

After several months of disappointing massage therapist-shopping, my roommate convinced me to go see Gustavo at Allyu. She went on and on about how the massage would change my life. Seemed a little dramatic at the time.

So I booked a massage and..

LIFE CHANGED. His trigger point technique not only makes you feel seriously high on endorphins, but has helped my lower back pain more than any other physical therapy, massage or chiropractor I have visited. My only fear is that now I'll never be able to give up a massage dependency that is proving to be fairly expensive.

Furthermore, the spa is beautiful, it looks and smells incredible. A great place to go relieve a little stress.

BY FAR the best massage I've ever had...and I've had a lot of massages. I was so relaxed at the end of my hour massage that I could barely hold my head up on the way home.

I was the last appointment of the day, which made me nervous because sometimes businesses tend to rush you out. Not so at Allyu. I still had my time in the relaxation room (it makes you feel like you're on vacation in a far off land.....). I believe Angela was my masseuse...AMAZING. The combination of  stretches she did with my shoulders, the hot towels on my back and neck, and the lavender mist on my face just makes me ache for another massage immediately!

This is DEFINITELY a place I will return to over and over. I suppose it's pricier than other massage places, but they go above and beyond. It's a whole relaxing experience, not just a massage.

My only disappointment is that I didn't know about the shower rooms until afterwards. You can reserve a complimentary 15 minutes under in the "rain shower" if you mention it when you're booking your appointment. Can't wait to use it next time!

24 hours later and I'm still completely blissed out. I treated myself to a 90-minute massage at Allyu, and from (almost) start to finish I felt completely wrapped up in the experience. I was at first surprised by the lack of a robe (and general lack of extras, no foot bath or aromatherapy as I've experienced elsewhere), but a cup of tea and 15 minutes in the relaxation tent were enough to put me at ease. I also reserved a shower for the end of my appointment, and I'm incredibly glad that I did. The rain shower was damn near perfect, the towels heated, and the room spacious. I wish I'd remembered my camera, because I'd use the entire space as inspiration for my home decor.

And now, the most important part: Megan Rose gave me what was perhaps the best massage of my life; her moves should be illegal in 48 states. Unfortunately the price is out of my budget to regularly indulge, but it's the perfect special treat.

I went to Allyu for the first time to treat myself to a nice birthday spa day over the weekend, and left feeling like they took me for all I had.

I took the bus to get there, and as the bus was running late, I called the spa to let them know and to profusely apologize, to which they responded that they would make it work. When I get there, I'm rushed into my first service - a 40 minute massage. My masseuse informed me that she'd give me as much service time as possible (huh?) and that the massage was only waist-up (double huh?) but I just went with it, and after a too-short massage, I asked her how long my service lasted. "25 minutes," she says, then rushes me into the shower room.

Allyu by the way, doesn't have locker rooms, so you have to make appointments for shower rooms and cart your stuff around like a mule in a third world country. No sooner had I finished my very quick shower when I heard a banging on the door so then I had to gather my things in a hurry and get out so someone could come in and CLEAN it - NOT for another appointment.

I then sat for 10 minutes waiting for my 60 minute facial to start, time I would have really appreciated to relax in the shower room I had reserved!

As I checked out, I asked them if they were going to prorate the cost of my massage because they cut it so short, to which they responded that "it's kind of like a doctor's appointment" - if you're late, you pay full price. Actually, doctors reschedule you if they don't have time to see you - they don't partially examine you and expect you to pay full price!

Allyu could learn a lesson in customer service. People come to spas to de-stress - not to be rushed from station to station like sweat shop factory workers. It's a shame, because the services were actually quite nice. With all the other nice spas in the city, you would think they wouldn't nickel and dime customers and would schedule appointments with enough room for flexibility and relaxation!

PS - Sorry to the bachelorette party that was having words with the front desk on my way out. Apparently they were gypped out of their services too! I know you feel me ladies...

AHHHHHHhhhhhhh, I am totally torn on this review.

I had a $20 gift to here and was in dire need of an eyebrow thread.  I decided to use it for that and check out the spa/space/etc.

Oh, la, la...the spa itself looked amazing.  It looked like a great place for ambiance.

So the apptmt process was slightly annoying.  I called at 930AM for a 10AM apptmt...I still had to put a credit card down for my apptmt?  Weird.  Then the lady on the phone proceeds to tell me that they have like a 6 hour cancellation policy....I was like, ok, I am coming in in 15 mins?  Again, weird.  I am sure this is protocol, but come on.

Next, I arrive and the lady tells me that they have everyone change into sandals.  Slightly annoyed now because its raining and gross outside.  I am coming in for a 5 min threading...is it really necessary to have me put on sandals????  Then they lead to me a relaxation room where Vanessa will come and get me.

I have to say, I was a fan of the space.  It definitely was spa like....as I am sitting there in my sandals, jeans, bears hoodie, purse waiting for my eyebrow thread...no sarcasm there, at all.

So I get escorted to a room and lay down.  Threads away, nothing exciting.  It was pretty standard.

I was pretty surprised at the end...no lotion, no massage, no nothing...I mean, this is a spa.  I get better treatment at my normal thread place where they give a 5-10 min eyebrow massage with aloe lotion at the end.  Not to mention...its $20...totally not worth the price.  Alas, next time I will go to my normal lady for a thread where it only costs $15 and I get a mini massage and get to keep my tennis shoes on.

I wanted to maybe check out the spa services, but the whole experience kind of turned me off...bummer.

I've been to Allyu several times.  Every time I've had an excellent massage.  Tonight, my excellent massage was courtesy of Christine, who made me feel amazing after feeling pretty crappy for a few weeks after a move.  It's lovely, clean, relaxing, but most importantly, it is worth the money because the services are excellent.  Highly recommended!  Thanks again Christine and Allyu!

Gustavo is the man. I love this place.

His massage technique is completely non conventional, but it works. He used quite a bit of accupressure on my lower back, shoulders and neck. It was actually quite painful, but completely effective.

This is a great place for a girl's spa day... I can't wait to go back!

*Note that this rating is for everything EXCEPT nails*

Sooo, Allyu is this amazing awesome space where people with warm spirits work to make you feel as fabulous as it gets. And they succeed wildly. The massages are some of the best - the body treatmemts leave you feeling melty - the facials leave you glowing - the showers (book them when you book a treatment) are a wonderful follow-up perk - and then of course, there is the meditation tent, the tea, the cucumber water and the general ambiance.

It's pricey - but if you want to feel like you went for a spa vacation instead of a spa afternoon, go there.

but, but, but.... they NEED to ditch the nail service, or revamp it completely. Like other reviewers, I would say their nail service is a 2 star gig. Above a chop-shop in ambiance, but way below in finished result. Part of it is that the nail polish they use is toxic chemical free (which means that it takes about 3 times as long to fully set, that's why they put that crap in nail polish!!!) but the major part of it is that their nail staff basically sucks. If I went here for a nail service first, I would have NEVER gone back (and I go here about twice a month).

i can recommend this place for the decor and maybe massage....BUT do not get the sugar scrub, its a rip off. For $90-$100, someone is maybe spending 20 min on you ,applying the scrub, and that's it. Feels very short-changed with this service. Not worth the $90!

I just had a facial with Huong at Allyu and it was one of the best I have ever had. I have been to several places in Chicago as well as resorts in AZ and CA and I have to say Huong was the best. From start to finish, everything was customized to me and my skin. She started with some relaxation techniques and then did a skin analysis to see what I needed. My skin feels amazing and I am totally relaxed. She also took her time with the extractions, which is the reason that I get facials in the first place. I will definitely be back to see her and would recommend Allyu Spa to anyone looking for a great way to relax, heal and get their skin in shape.

I finally made my way out to Allyu Spa and experienced first hand what people been bragging about.  I thought I'd splurge and booked one of the 'day spa packages' they have, called Apus, which include an hour body scrub (including a shower), an hour massage, and an express manicure.  I actually add-on an express pedicure so that my toes won't get jealous.

The scrub was amazing.  Just what my skin needed after this harsh, long, cold winter.  The shower was an extra perk.  I just LOVED the huge shower head they have in there (I think they're called rain shower??).  Everything you might need was provided.  Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, towels, hair-dryer, shower-cap, soft-fluffy-robe.  You name it, they have it ready for you.  My massage therapist was super sweet, she asked if I wanted some extra sugar rub so I can exfoliate some body parts that was not exposed on the massage table.  Yes, please!

My relaxing scrub and rain shower was followed by an hour long massage.  My massage therapist asked me if there's any area she needed to concentrate on, and did very well loosen-up the knots on my neck and shoulders.

My express mani-pedi was not too express,  which I very much like.  The nail tech spent time taming the cuticles and buff some callouses-wanna-be on my feet.  They have Zoya nail polishes (instead of the OPI or Essie), and the color selections were great.

I'll definitely go back for more me-spa-days!

Well I probably wouldn't come to Allyu for a mani or pedi if I didn't work in the building, but I do, so I do. They are both great, but it's a unique experience. I get my nails done to get my nails done, so I don't care if I'm in a shack with fluorescent lighting and terrible music playing. Thus the ambiance of Allyu is lost on me. Not their fault though.

The service is really great, but today when I went for my monthly pedicure, four people on four separate occasions asked me if I wanted water or tea. It seems counterintuitive to complain about service that's too good, but I say assign one person to be the officially tea offerer and leave it at that. The woman doing my pedicure had offered me tea, but during my pedicure two other people came up and asked. It's nice, but clearly I'm playing Scrabble on my phone :)

I think the other services are their true specialities so I'd love to try out a massage. Just waiting until I really need one. As I was paying today, someone came in and asked the front desk if she could just sit in the meditation room for a while. I find this fascinating. They said of course, asked her shoe size for slippers and gave her tea. That could come in handy on really stressful days. All the relaxation of yoga without any of the pesky working out that comes along with it.

    Ambience deserves five stars.

    Customer service is 4.5 stars.

I got  a pedicure spa.  Here is where the services go way down.  I arrived at 10:25am for a 10:30 am appointment.  I was there until 12:30pm.  At about 12:10 my toe nails still were not dry.  I waited another 20 minutes.  Four hours later at home I noticed that some of my nail polish was gone on the big toe.  I called to express my dismay.  They said I could come back and they would fix the big toe but to make an appointment.  The worker also told me with vegan nail polish it is more sensitive.  Up until this point I did not know there was such a thing nor that it was less durable than regular nail polish.  I spoke with both the worker and owner.  I expressed I was leaving for vacation in two days and that I lived far enough away and had too much to do.  This was the end of their offer.  I think for $50 put a $5 tip there should have been a pedicure offered.

Pedicure spa 1.0 stars as I am walking around less than four hours later looking a hot mess.

Allyu shall never see me again and I am filing a complaint with BBB.

I was torn on writing a review since I usually frequent a place at least three times...however not sure I'll be going back here. The reception was probably the only service that stood out. The woman who checked me in was very friendly...she even carried my bag although I tried refusing her help. Here is where service fell short: if the person who is giving you a facial doesn't bother to get to know you during the entire 60 minutes, chances that you will follow recommendations to buy product or return are slim to none.

First: the "eh" part, which I hope Allyu will take into account: The parking validation didn't work at all, so we ended up having to pay for it ourselves.

Next, the best: My mom and I came here as a mother-daughter thing. She got a massage and pedicure, and I got a Pumpkin Apple facial and a pedicure. My mom loves super-deep-tissue massages; it's hard for her to find someone who she likes. But when I saw her after she got out of her massage with Roger, she had a completely blissed-out look on her face and said it was absolutely amazing. Coming from her, that's a compliment of the highest order.

My Pumpkin Apple facial with Benita was similarly amazing. We had a great time talking about everything from Nutella to quinoa to California to Into the Wild; she's a ton of fun. She did say that she has no problem with "R&R" clients - people who just want to sit back and let her do her fantastic work. And hours later, my skin still feels unbelievably soft and deep-cleaned.

Our pedicures from Houng and Vernita were also very good; they were high-quality, not much else to say there.

The salon itself is very well-decorated: the meditation tent is super-relaxing, and simply stepping into the main part of the spa transports you away from the stresses of real life. It's in a good area, and the parking garage is just across the street.

A dear friend treated me to a Mani Pedi at Allyu and I have to say I was pretty disappointed.

The salon space itself is gorgeous and very relaxing, the staff very friendly, the hot tea delicious.

I am assuming my nail technician did many other spa services as her nails were painted, I have never seen a nail tech with their nails painted as they obviously will get other paint on them!

I was really disappointed with how my nails turned out, the paint was a visible distance from the cuticle which makes it look like I've already had them done for a few days!

Honestly for $50 spa pedicure and $20 express manicure total ling $70 not including tip it better be the best mani/pedi I've ever had.. it wasn't. I am sure there are other people that do a better job but honestly first impressions are everything and I will not be back.

For my friends birthday, we got a double room and both got massages. We sat in the beautiful, tranquil meditation tent, with our spa water, feeling fancy. My Masseuse was amazing. The massage was very skilled and thorough. I remember after we left, we had a "massage high", we felt like we were flying and couldn't stop giggling. - Good times at Allyu.

The spa is genuinely all natural and good to the planet, and they are proud of that. Allyu is of an incredible caliber.

After reading all the reviews, I booked this place for my wife and I for our anniversary. We got massages and facials. I loved the atmosphere of the place and loved being able to use the showers.

But I wasn't as impressed with the facial and massage as people raved about. I've had better massages elsewhere. I mean, it was pretty good, but not GREAT as I was hoping. I guess my expectations got high after reading all the reviews.

But the service was great and they took care of us well. Make sure to book in advance because the couples room for massages isn't always available. This place is on the expensive side.

I took my sister here for her 50th birthday.  I wanted to go all out because she never even had a pedicure.  The massage was very good, the facial was awesome and I thought the mani/pedicures were awesome too.  It was a good chunk of change to fork out, but I think it was worth it.

I would have liked if the cheap flip flops were free instead of $3, they lasted only until I got home.

My sister thought she had died and gone to heaven.  I told her I'd pay for her again if she makes it a second 1/2 century.

Teas and customer service were delightful.

I found Allyu to be truly special in the design and layout and the overall feeling as you enter. The front desk was exceptional and knowledgable. The meditation tent in the center of the space could have been more cozy, you could everyone scurrying around. It perhaps should be more enclosed or more quiet, because you hear everything from all directions. However, the treatments were good. Skip the sauna, not comfortable and not totally private.

    AH-MAZING!!!

Thank you Yelp for helping me find this place.  As a treat from a grueling week of traveling and meetings my girlfriend and I decided we wanted a nice relaxing afternoon of spa-ing.  Since we were from out of town I decided to yelp spa's in the area, and found allyu.  I called the afternoon before to set up my own spa package, and they were able to accommodate our schedule.

When we arrived we were greeted with hot tea and the friendliest staff! They explained how the afternoon would run and given a nice tour of the spa.  I felt relaxed just walking to the saunas where we had a private area and each had our own shower area.  After we went to the meditation tent where we lounged in until our masseuses (?) came to whisk us to our sugar scrub treatment and 90 minute massages.

I told my boyfriend later on that night that the massage ranked in my top 10 FAVORITE'S. He was skeptical since I'm such a spa snob, but I assured him Amodo gave me one of the best massages ever! Plus the prices were so reasonable!

The next time I'm in Chicago I am definately going back!!!

I experienced the warmest and most genuinely kind customer service here - ever. I seriously had to go back and adjust some of my spa reviews from five to four stars, because Allyu has redefined a five-star experience for me.

The best part is that this place isn't outrageously priced - eyebrow waxes, for example, are a very reasonable $20. Camila did my wax and was the sweetest, most engaging person throughout the whole thing. She used hard wax and shaped my eyebrows in a way that made them look clean and even but also very natural - a look I absolutely LOVE but rarely get from salons.

The entire place is very relaxing and smells wonderful. You're given spa shoes to slip into while you're there, which is a very nice touch. They also sell Zoya nail polishes (score!), soaps and candles.

I will definitely be making this my go-to eyebrow place from now on. The fact that I live so close makes it a no-brainer!

This place was amazing. The Staff was friendly, it had an awesome pan-hippy vibe, and it really was relaxing.

My masseuse, (which I really wish I could remember her name) was described to me as a " little powerhouse"  was just that.

A day spa. Gotta love it.

Per request of my friend, we went off after a day of hard shopping to the day spa for massages. As I have never had a massage done (dude, way too busy and poor in grad school), off we went to get a massage.

Really easy to schedule...we pretty much scheduled less than 24 hours before. First, they lead you into a meditation room. Nice cozy seats, curtains, they give you tea and bath slippers, and off you sit in silence to clear your mind.

I got the 45 minute massage. The room was nice and quiet (secluded), and the bed was even heated! It was great- the lotion wasn't greasy, and if you want a harder or softer massage, they're super compliant. I think I got so comfortable that I about fell asleep. hahaha.

Great experience, great spa. I definitely recommend it if you're in need of it while in Chicago.....

Friends of mine have talked about this spa for years and, for one reason or another, I had never made it there.  What a huge mistake.  I've been twice now, and fully intend to become a regular.

My goodness...Allyu, why haven't we met before?

I have never been so comfortable after having a spa day. Everything was perfect! For starters, this is a real spa...not a salon/spa combo. What's the difference? When hair is involved, you kind of get lost in the smell of hair products and noise from hair dryers. Allyu is peaceful and really seems to be focused on "healing" and making you just feel good.

The staff at Allyu were just the nicest people. They didn't rush me around at all. Everything that they did, just kept you feeling calm. my stress level immediately went down a notch after being escorted to the "mediation room" to wait for my services to begin.

As for the services, I got a 60 minute signature facial and a signature mani/pedi. Hoang, who did my facial, is an angel. I have perhaps the worst habit of going too long without a facial. Therefore, my face gets in pretty bad shape and is usually gets neglected in some areas when I finally do get my facials. But no no, not Hoang. My entire face was worked on. She did an amazing job!

For my manicure and pedicure, Teesha (I hope I'm spelling that right) took her time and left my nails, cuticles, and winter feet looking incredible. I could not have been happier with the results.

I'm officially hooked on this place!

The space is beautiful and very relaxing. My request for a specific technician was ignored and had I not called to make sure who I would be with 3 days before the appointment, I would have been in for a surprise. My massage with Gerri was VERY good. She is a true professional and it is obvious she loves what she does. My facial with Huong was not good. It was rough and choppy with very fast movements. Not relaxing in the least. The overall feeling from her is that she is burned out and just kind of going through the motions to get the service over with. I felt  anxious throughout her treatment. I am glad that I went, but dont think i will return. Also, there are no lockers. I had to put my bag in the office. Following my services, I had to get ready for dinner in the restroom, with no amenities.

I love Allyu Spa. I scheduled a massage on a whim after moving into the area and it was the best one I've ever had. Gustavo is seriously amazing and I will definitely be going  back to try other services.

What a great place! I wish we had one of these in Miami. Well priced and beautiful! I had the best massage of my life here! The lobby and meditation/waiting are both  beautiful. We checked in and changed into slippers. The room had hooks and nooks for all of your belongings. I wish I would have done more services and booked the showers. Next time I am in Chicago will visit and visit often!

I also bought some great vegan and toxic free nail polish as well as some great non toxic candles. Big fan over here!

I went to this luxurious spa for my birthday treat - I especially love the magic in Elizabeth's hands - I received a lovely facial - and the shower rooms are a work of art - I felt as if I was in an Arabian palace hammam.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Allyu after multiple excellent visits.  Sorry it took me so long.

Last night I was getting a massage elsewhere from a Youswoop I purchased and all I could think was, " I wish I was at Allyu."

OK, Allyu was my first massage ever and I will admit I was nervous at first being a bigger guy and just uncomfortable with the entire experience.  I have to say that Allyu really showed me how to relax and not worry about that.

    - Scheduling is great, they always have availability, even short notice.

    - Reception area is appeasing to the senses as if the entire facility.

    - Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

    - Rooms and textiles are first rate.

    - Massage oils are not greasy.

    - Massage Therapists really communicate well and work out the problems you are having, without mangling you body into a sore pretzel for a week. (One even taught me some particular stretches I should be doing before and after working out. BONUS)

    - I have had Swedish Massages, Mud Treatment, used the Sauna and Shower Rooms and everything has been beyond my expectations.

Basically, when I come to Allyu, I do not want to leave.  It is a cruel punishment to step outside back into reality.  And THAT is how a spa should make you feel, like you are in another world.

    A+ Job ALLYU Team!!!

    Thanks,
    CP

When you think of an ideal spa, this is it.  As soon as you walk into the entrance, you feel like you are in a different world and not in Chicago.  The meditation area in the back is fantastic - it is truly relaxing and I feel so at ease when I leave.  The best part about Allyu Spa is Azucena, the nail technician.  She is absolutely amazing at what she does and is such a sweet person.  I started coming here after getting a free certificate.  Every time I return, I have to have Azucena.

If you like spas and enjoy getting your nails done, you have to come here!

My face has broken out HORRIBLY from the cleanser- or it could have been the Vitamin C lotion...Either or both- I am PISSED! I kept using the product like an idiot thinking that it was just bringing out everything trapped in my face- and that it would get better soon- and my flawless Camile skin would emerge- but NO! I look like a PIZZA face- and have since switched back to my Cetaphil- which is a great cleanser... I am bummed I paid $49 for the  teeny tiny products that left me with BIG HUGE bumps and pimples :(

I really wish this would clear up :( :(

Arra, the massage therapist, has completely changed my life.  I have recommended everyone to her!  Her depth of knowledge too is inspiring and she makes me feel more in tune with my body.  I have been around Chicago for 10 years getting massages here and there and Arra knocks it out of the park every time.  I have been going for 2 months now.  Of course it's a bit pricey, but staying in good health is critical to me, and I feel amazing afterwards.  I'll probably start going every other week, then perhaps once a month thereafter.  Arra will change your life as she has mine.

Love this place.  I never would have discovered it if I didn't work in the building, as it is kind of a hidden gem.

Staff is always super friendly, I love the atmosphere of the place- very relaxing and new-agey, without being hokey or stuck up.  I love the  use of reclaimed wood and materials throughout.

I've had massages there by a few different practitioners, and I do have a favorite, but I've never been disappointed by anyone.  $90 for an hour long massage- kind of expensive, but totally worth it.

I've also had a pedicure at Allyu- was great, but that was the first pedicure I've ever had, so nothing to compare it to.

Don't forget to say hi to Nina the Parrot when you're there!

I saw Elizabeth for a Brazilian and it was great! She was so friendly and made me feel super comfortable. They use hard wax which I don't think hurts all that bad. There were a few spots that were painful, but she warned me and kept asking if I was ok. She made me laugh, which was nice! They let you change into spa shoes when you get there and give you either water or tea. I would definitely go back to her for another and recommend her to others. It was nice to not have to get on all four's either. She makes it a lot less embarrassing the way that she positions you!

I was given a gift certificate to this spa for an achievement at work and it was wonderful!  I used to work out at David Barton across the hall, so I knew how swanky and lovely it was, but had never ventured in.
I've only ever gotten a sugar scrub and massage becauase they're so amazing and plus the shower is lovely.
The only thing that knocked a star off was that some of the employees were a bit loud and I could hear them while I was getting my massage.
