Allure is awesome not only for great haircuts, but also for great atmosphere and fun stylists.  Michelle, one of the owners, is a great colorist and stylist, and always gives me great info. about how to go about the neverending process of growing out my hair.

Allure is not snobby - it's low key.  They are in the mid-price range and do not push products.  They display art from local artists on the walls and play good music.  I always feel better when I leave this place!

I have been a loyal customer here for years and the quality of service has been steadily decreasing over time.  Michelle just seems perpetually distracted and trying to rush you out of there.  A cut and blow dry used to take an hour, the last fews cuts I had were under 30mins.  The last cut and color I had there was completely botched.  Neither the color nor the haircut were what I had talked about.  My bangs were approx.  2 inches shorten than I had shown here and totally uneven between sides.  Michelle's solution - to tell me that they would grow out and look fine within a week or two.  I will not be back.

I am going to a beach blanket boogie themed party tonight and at the last minute (I love last minute) I decided I better put some thought into my look for this evening.  What in the heck is beach blanket boogie anyway??  There was a reminder sent out recently because it has been so crazy hot this week that YES beach wear (bathing suits) are expected.."as well as BIG HAIR".  Ok...big hair huh?  I thought I might need to bring in a professional for something like this.  I made a few calls...Vain was booked.  A friend told me to go see Casey at Allure.  I called and she was able to get me in at 3pm.  Very nice.  When I gave her my digits (916 area code) she asked if I was from Sac.  Yep!  Well Casey is from Roseville...OMG me too!!  Ok a hometown girl?  I love it!!  She was really sweet.  When I got to Allure she offered me tea or water.  She knew I was only there for a style and not a cut or color but she asked if I wanted to change into a smock or just wear a cape, to protect my clothing.  Very considerate - nice touch!  I had no particular style in mind except BIG.  Casey told me some of the ideas she had come up with in the hour since we spoke on the phone....it was cool that she really gave it some thought.  I let her take full control with the only direction being BIG.   I love the results!!  Now the price is what keeps me from 5 stars.  Ummm, $45 to tease and spray my hair?  Yikes, this wasn't an updo for my wedding day.  Kind of pricey but a girls gotta splurge sometimes.  Gosh I look pretty right now.  : )
