I go here for hair removal services from time to time.  Other than the girl looking at her phone during the timed session whenever it vibrates (annoying and rude), the services are good.  The prices may be a little high, but its NYC so they have to compensate.

Certainly not the worst place to go to for spa service but I do not think this place is worth the price.

I went for a manicure and pedicure which was done perfectly and the staff was great.  At least the women doing the nails were friendly, can't say the same for the women in the hair salon, they looked miserable.  Possibly from lack of customers.

The place is clean and the receptionist is very friendly.  It is not very big and easy to miss when you are walking on the street since the place is downstairs.  I used a Lifebooker deal to go here but I know I would not pay their regular prices for the service.

    I LOVE Allure Day Spa.
I have been coming here for facials for 5++ years and I have NO complaints!

    Marta is AMAZING!
She spends lots of time trying to remove every last blackhead & impurity in your face.
You will be red for 2-3 days but it is well worth it in the end.

A lot of people who reviewed before me have complaints about leaving with red skin.
The reason your skin is so red is because of all the extractions they do at Allure (the redder you are the more blackheads you had).
If you want to keep your blackheads than go elsewhere.

The facials are $120 but if you sign up for http://www.spaweek.com you will be notified of promotional $50 facials during "Spa Week" which usually happens in April & October

I have been to most of the spas in the city. At least the more popular ones. I have not even reviewed them and probably won't review all of them only the stand outs. I am reviewing this because I saw a review pop up and was surprised to see so many bad reviews.
I want to clear things up. As spas go, I see this as  more of a salon than an actual spa. The prices, services and ambiance  are more like a salon so that may help clear some things up. Even when I had cancer my husband paid for me to get spa treatments because stress relief is always good for health. However I have not been to Allure since 2009. The only treatment I got at Allure was a scrub/exfoliation and self tanner. I would always get the scrub before heading on vacation and some times I would have a self tanner applied. I never had any problems but that is the only service I would get and this was the spa I choose for this service. I have very sensitive skin and frequently have allergies to hypoallergenic products. But I never had any reactions to  the products for the scrubs or self tanners and I have been allergic to other self tanners at other spas.
I would get other services at other spas. Again I think you might be better off thinking of it as a nice salon rather than a spa. But I think based on having been to most of the spas in the city the prices  are appropriate for what they offer. I would go back if I needed the same service again. I do not like the 5 star rating system. Because I have a problem with allergies to products and I never had  a problem here if it was a rating scale of 1-10 I would give them a 7 and with all of the spas I have been to in the city I think the highest rating I would award anyone would be 8. The lack of stars has more to do with it being just a high end salon than a spa in my opinion. But I  would return for more functional services like the one I usually get and not a day of relaxation.

I was Allured for a pre-bachelorette party pampering session. It's a good day spa with pleasant staff but could use a total overhaul of equipment. Totally agree with other reviewers about Allure being a SALON not so much a SPA. Strangely enough, the massage was the best part of the pamper session! My main tension points were un-kinked and left the massage feeling very refreshed!

I came here on a Lifebooker Loot discount for a mani and pedi.  While the price great I can't really say I would come back and pay full price. Honestly my overall experience was not bad but it felt rushed and not very relaxing. Maybe that was because I had a 5:30 pm appointment and it was close to the end of the work day.  Regardless, w/an offer that read "luxury spa manicure and pedicure", I guess I was expecting a relaxing spa like experience but it really didn't feel that way. My mani and pedi were done at the same time and I've never been a fan of that.  I wanted to kick back and enjoy the massages and pampering that normally manis and pedis bring. It was hard to have your feet in the pedicure tub and having to become a human pretzel to accomodate my manicurist.
I decided to give three stars because as others have said the receptionist is warm, friendly and attentive. She takes your coat, offers coffee, tea, water and is really pleasant.  While both women worked extraordinarily quickly, my mani and pedi were exceptional. My skin is soft and my toes and hands look great. The salon itself (I really don't think it should be referred to as a "spa") is inviting and clean.
My suggestions: don't schedule your appointment near closing time. If you're looking for a relaxing spa like experience this isn't the place BUT you will get a fabulous mani and pedi at a nice location.

I had a good experience, and I was VERY hesitant after reading these reviews on yelp. I did the heavy duty manicure and a bikini wax. It was clean and the woman (kathy) who did both for me took her time and was very sweet. My manicure lasted forever and I was on vacation at the beach (which usually makes my nails chip very fast). I used a gift certificate that some one gave me so I only paid about 15 for the whole thing. They are a bit overpriced (30 for that manicure) so I probably wouldn't return unless for a special occasion for a manicure.

Skilled Russian waxing people but honestly, WAY over priced for a place that really isn't that fancy. I wasn't too impressed. Their technology needs a little updating but whatever, seems like day spas in Boston are a little ahead of the game.

I came here for a haircut based on mostly fake reviews on citysearch- the spa pays to take down bad reviews.

All I needed were some nice face framing layers on my healthy thick long hair, my layers were almost grown out.
To sum it up, my hair was botched, i was given a stylist who looked like she mops floors who could hardly speak,(heavy spanish accent) the owner was rude. And the place was empty. The people who work there make you feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I was going to walk out thats how bad it was. I was in disbelief over the stylist they gave me who looked like a salesgirl at 99 cent store. It was more than obvious the salon gave this girl to me to "learn" on my hair..She did not understand what "layers" were. I did not let her touch my hair, i was going to walk out and then i was given another stylist named Fenny- who seemed professional, she did a fast  "rush job" did not suggest any style for my hair, did not suggest products, she did not even converse with me at all, this is the first time in my entire life a stylist has not conversed while cutting my hair. She cut it uneven.. It looked nice in the salon but when i got home everyone told me the back is uneven. When I washed it, I realized my beautiful thick hair was severely thinned out and uneven-everywhere---In no way a $100 haircut...A Botch Job!
Do not go here, whatever you do!!

UPDATE: Lana, thats really rude and unprofessional,  I am not a former employee, why lie about your customers?  No one is allowed to write a bad review about your spa? How unprofessional and rude is that? I'm a highly unsatisfied, disgusted customer!  None of my comments are true because no customer can have a bad experience/haircut/service in your spa, right?

Ok everyone, so after getting a horrible haircut there, now I have this place stalking me online, instead of apologizing. This tells you ALOT! Unreal,,, this place is scary and a scam. Everyone do not go here!

UPDATE: 3/16/2011-- Took me two years to grow out this horrible haircut, I still cant believe how my healthy gorgeus hair was thinned and botched, worst haircut in my life. Do not go to his place.

My visit to Allure Spa left me in horrors.  I went in for a facial and walked out as if I had been stung by bumble bees, over my entire face.  My face felt greasy, it was painful, and I ended up covering my face and taking a taxi home.  I cancelled my dinner plans for that evening and was so embarrassed when I went into work the next day.  It took almost three days before the swelling went down and another week for the redness to clear.  NEVER AGAIN.

The massage I got from this place was awful.  Reason I went here was it was spa week and it was near where I work. I left this place very dissatisfied.   I thought I would go for another service after i get my massage but so disappointed I changed my mind.   The only nice thing about this place was the reception was very friendly.

I only use this place for waxing, and I won't go anywhere else.  Kathy is the best I've ever found.  It's completely inconvenient for me to go there, but I make the trip.

So as part of Spa Week,(which I found out about through THIS my new favorite place on the world wide) one of the services this place is providing is a haircut for $50. I got there early thinking it might be packed and was only one of the three people there. Reception was very friendly and attentive and no sooner had I put on my robe and been offered my beverage that my stylist was standing next to me ready to begin. Now I should mention here that my hair reached my butt and hadn't seen a day in a salon for awhile. (my usual stylist is up on Madison at Pashah,FABULOUS) . Soooo, after a thorough wash and a consult (I knew what I wanted), I lopped off most of it. My hair is curly and I usually wear it that way but when I get it done I like it blown out. Instead today it was suggested I go under the lamps for some curl(my feel was that it was easier to do).It is DEFINITELY nothing like the impeccable artistry of my usual stylist but it would have cost me more to have it just blown out  at my local boogie down joint. This place definitely needs updating and a previous yelper nails it when she says that it is more of a weekly salon place than a spa.

I first went there to use my Lifebooker Loot for a mani-pedi.  I think this was the most thorough mani-pedi I have had in NY and the lady doing it really took her time to do her job properly and didn't rush me like most places do in Manhattan.

Sigh...I used to come to this place all the time when I lived and worked in the city.  Sadly, I am no longer a New Yorker...and in the 2 years I was gone, the girl who permed my eyelashes (Gabriella) was gone too.  I came back 2 months ago to get my eyelashes permed, and I was given a different woman.  Sigh.  It was just not the same.  My lashes weren't curly at all after she was done.  She kept insisting, that it was!  They said that if I was unhappy with it (and I really was) that I could come back for them to fix it.  Uh, no.  I live in PA now.  So anyway, I did make it back there 2 weeks later to get it fixed.  Same girl, same results.  Awful.  You know the feeling you get when you were just given the worst haircut of your life, and it cost you over $100 for it?  That's how I felt.  I even tipped her too...just because I didn't want to be an asshole.  But sadly, I will no longer come to this place.  Ever.

I had an overall okay experience here. I needed a color correction and Fran (I think that was her name) basically just dyed my hair over as a single process. I expected even color because this is what she had promised, but this was not the end result. Granted, color corrections can be hard, but I had originally booked a double-process and was readily willing to make it work. Anyways, I would have given this 5 stars if Fran had been upfront about managing my expectations instead of telling me, 'you don't know anything about color'. This may have been a language barrier but nonetheless the condescending tone gives me this impression she knows better and when the result is less-than guess what? They get 3 stars. Oh, extra tip--ask for a mimosa. They only offered me water but the girl next to me was sipping a mimosa!!
